Speaker problem - Boston Acoust

ok, I have an older gGateway comp that came with some Boston Acoustic speakers. I recently bought another tower (HP) with Windows XP Media Center Edition software, and I added a sbli've 24 bit card to it. Currently I have a KVM switch (which allows me to use keyboard, mouse, and monitor, etc.), so I'd like to be able to use my same speakers (I just have to move the cord). Anyway, I though it might be a problem with setup (Media Edition Software), however I have another comp (compaq), that has sbli've 24 bit card, and it won't play them either. I have tried everything that I know of (checking Digital output, 2 speaker, 4 speaker setting etc. ) fyi, it is a 2 speaker system.

A. Since the introduction of Windows XP, we have been receiving e-mails from customers like
you regarding the inoperability of their speakers. The Boston digital speakers do not directly require drivers to work but rather rely on the soundcard for processing. This is where the problem lies. If the speaker system was functioning properly before the system upgrade and both green lights are illuminated, there is likely nothing wrong with your speakers. You need to make sure that the soundcard is configured for digital output. If the soundcard is configured for digital or if your computer manufacturer has informed you that you need to upgrade drivers in the system, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your soundcard for these drivers. Below are links to both Creative Labs (SoundBlaster) and Gateway. There you will find new drivers that will allow your sound card to work with Windows XP. For instructions on how to perform the driver installation, please contact your soundcard or computer manufacturer.

Boston Acoustic Digital Speakers or Prebuilt System With a Digital Li've! Card
Some name brand systems shipped with a special Li've! Value card that was made to work
with digital speakers. If you system shipped with a Li've! Value and you have digital speakers you will need to use drivers provided by your system manufacturer. If you use the drivers on the Creative website your card will no longer work with your digital speakers.
If you have a set of Boston Acoustic digital speakers that came with your system and they are not working with your sound card, make sure you have it connected to the digital out on the card. Also make sure that the digital out is enabled.

You, sosaman, are my hero of the moment. Your post brought me the solution. I went to Gateway's site and profiled my computer for changes to my system since purchased and it saw that I had installed XP, and offered me some new drivers for my Creative Labs sound blaster Li've! Value card. I picked the one that looked the newest, installed it, and rebooted. But no sound.
Then, I remembered your post, and decided to click the "digital output only" choice in the advanced section of the volume control, and the ding that I heard almost knocked me out of my seat.
So, if you have a Gateway and Boston Acoustics and upgrad to XP, get yourself a new driver from Gateway!

    No, their external card don't have those digital out jack. You have to go for their pci sound card if not guess it's time you change those speaker.

    Have you tried the standard fixes:
    - Reset:
    Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
    button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.
    If still problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Hi, i have 4 speakers and a subwoofer. Mainboard is asrock xtreme4 which come with realtek hd audio.
    You may know the famous "rear speaker problem" on windows products. While speaker test just works fine, rear speaker never works on media player, winamp etc...
    But recently it become really interesting because, that rear speakers works fine on firefox browser 22.0. So it gave me hope the solve this problem once and for all.
    Right now, when i listening any thing on firefox, rear speakers works fine. But not working on Chrome and other stuff.

    hey have you tryed connecting other speakers to the bad connected one and see if it was not a bad channel? if so then let me know and I will look in to this problem more and try my best to get you the answers your looking for ok

  • Solved my scratchy speaker problem. Do a hard reset. Home,sleep button. Hold till screen goes blank.

    Had a scratchy speaker problem and strange sounds when ipad shutdown. Hold the home button and sleep button till screen goes blank. Turn on after a minute or two. Fixed it on ipad 4. Good luck.

    Apple replaced with new phone under warranty, had to haggle a little to get that done.  Set up new one as a new phone, not from a backup, so as to not transfer any possible software issues to the new one, still re-setting up everything...      all was good for the first week or so, now this one does the same thing, plus a new issue.    While on calls the screen will go black, and the absolute only way to get control of the phone again is to hold both buttons down until the apple logo appears and phone restarts. Additionally, sometimes it will now become unanswerable when receiving a phone call, has only happened on vibrate, but it will go into a continuous vibrating mode and no way to answer the call or stop it, other than the two button restart.  Does it on normal calling, and on 4g lte calling setting (verizon).

When i make calls on the recieivng side of when ppl c all there is a flickering noise (the speaker where ppl talk to you) or when i record video the noise happens again. Im so fraustraited becuase i cant use it to make calls only on the headset, so im sure this is speaker problem right? Someone please help me and tlel me what i can do.

    I have an iPhone 4S.  I have been having speaker problems for a while now and am slowly realizing when using and doing certain things that my sound is not working.  When I take a video my sound does not work, when I facetime with someone they can't hear me but I can hear them.  When I try and put someone on speaker phone they can't hear me.  I can listen to music and listen to videos from facebook, youtube, etc.  So my question is what could be causing this because I have sound otherwise, I can hear text message sounds, facebook notifications, etc.  Help is appreicated.  Thanks.

  • No Sound from my Boston Acoustic Speakers

    My Boston Acoustic BA7500G speakers and sub woofer simply don't work with my (relatively) new iMac Intel Duo Core. I'm running Tiger OS X 10.4.10. These speakers/subwoofer work fine with my PC, and a cheaper set of Yamaha speakers I have lying around work fine plugged into the Mac. I've tried switching out wires, powering up and down, etc... Is there a software issue or upgrade required for my soundcard or operating system?
    Any (useful) advice would be greatly appreciated.

I spent a lot of time reading up on this issue, and what you described is the standard fix...however, when I get to the menu?you describe, there is no option box for me to check/uncheck digital on/off. I have an older Dell precision with a SB card, and it DOES have this digital on/off option. From what I can learn, the only way with my particular card to achieve digital out sound is to use the optical jacks. All the other jacks are analog, and I'm guessing that my digital speakers don't recognize the analog signal out? I'm not technical enough to know that for sure, but I can't figure out a way to make my speakers work, and of course they use the standard phono jack (single) and not an optical connection. I'm still hoping that someone from Creative will notice this thread and provide me with a fix. However, Creative has completely isolated themselves from being contacted. The Boston speakers are actually really good, and I hate to get rid of them...but since I have no sound I suppose I have no other choice...by the way, I've tried a different set of speakers (non digital) with my new Dell, and they don't work either....headphones do work, so I believe the soundcard is working....can't anyone help me? Please?!!?

    thanks all, I fix my problems finally!
    I just tried the following process and then the probelm solved
    1. turn off mac mini
    2. unplug the usb of my audio interface
    3. then change another usb port at the back my mac mini in order to plug my audio interface again
    4. turn on mac mini
    and it is smooth and fluencent when i play songs and videos on my mac mini now.
    exactly, I don't know why my problem can be solved this way... but anyway...
    this works for me!

    The problem is that i can't hear sound from central and LFE channels. And worse, in the creative surround mixer i cant' switch to 5./6. but only Headphone/2speaker/4speaker!

    The reason is you have only got a 4 channel sound card....... It's not a 5. sound card. Dude it's time you upgrade man.

    Hi! I have an hp620 notebook and i have a problem with my internal speakers. I'm running win7 ultimate. The sound only hears in my left speaker. If i do a sound test, when i press the icons of both speakers, the sound is playbacked only in left speaker. For both speaker icons to be understood.   • Centre Speaker Problem with Z-5500 and X

    When I have entertainment mode enabled (not sure if its the mode's problem or not) the centre speaker doesnt play alot of the music (I heard the voices are supposed to come from centre while ambience comes from the other speakers) most of the sound is coming from the other 4 speakers. Also, when the song gets real intense (or a word starting with "s" is said) the speaker starts to crackle and fizzle, and it makes me think the speaker is dieing or not able to handle that sound. However, when I enable game mode and play counterstrike or such, with the volume pretty high (about halfway for the Z-5500 is deafening) I can shoot and throw grenades and such but the centre channel (which plays alot more sound then when Im playing music) doesnt crackle or fizzle, it handles pretty much 80% of the sound) I especially hear the crackling/distortion or whatever it is when Im playing System of a Down's Chop Suey, when he says the line "self righteous suicide" it crackles and causes a fuzzy sound when he says it, and some other songs have parts of it when this happens. Just wondering why the X-Fi is causing this (i dont think its the modes problem cause I have the problem with game mode too) but it cant be the speaker as it works perfectly fine in game.

    Hows it going mate. i have a very similar setup to you and have the same problem. the sound only comes out of the front and centre speakers. even the surround sound comes out of the fronts. this is because the vista drivers do not support dolby digital or dts. lol what a waste of money. there is no warnings about this when you purchase the card. i am appauled at this. It is false advertising.
