Speaker problem on Macbook pro

I was just listening to music on my macbook pro and all of a sudden it sounded like one of the speakers died. It is about half as loud as it was before even with the volume all the way up. What do I do? Any ideas for troubleshooting?

system preferences>sound>output tab. Silde balance from left to right to see if you can isolate a patricular speaker.

  • Bluetooth speaker problems with Macbook Pro

    Hi all,
I have just purchased a blue tooth speaker for my home, and am having chronic issues with the speakers cutting out when using my Macbook Pro.  Sometimes it works ok, and then all of a sudden it's choppy and barely able to play.   Also, I can barely move the speakers 10 feet away without starting to lose the signal. But even at super close range there is some choppyness at times (and sometimes it's pretty bad).   I have an Iphone, and the speakers work perfectly with it.  I have tried the speakers with my dad's Ipad and it works fantastic... In both cases (Iphone and Ipad), I can control the speaker from the basement, below the floor where the speakers are, without losing any signal or quality.  I am currently testing the Big Jam Box, but have also tried the Bose SoundLink and had the same issues.
I have tried a few things, including changing the minimum bitrate to a few different things (40, 50, 60), and I haven't seen any improvement.
My MacBook is not showing any needed updates that relate to Bluetooth (there is a camera update, and Safari update showing I think).
I have tried disconnecting my Magic Mouse, thinking that might be causing interference. It didn't make a difference.
I tried deselecting/selecting many different options within the bluetooth preferences, to the point that my head is spinning.
Currently, I have the following selections made, which I think are pretty close to how the computer was sent to me:
    - Bluetooth is "on" but not discoverable
    - In the Advanced menu, I have deselected "reject in coming requests".   In the serial ports box, the "on" is checked, but the next box (not even sure what that is) is unselected, and the type is showing as a MODEM (RS-232 is the other option).
    - All other boxes in the Advanced Menu are checked.
    - In the Sharing Menu, I have nothing selected.
Does anyone have any advice for how I should approach troubleshooting this?   I've been googling this for a couple of weeks, and my brain is about to explode with all the information.  Seems like many people are having similar issues, but many are finding resolutions to their issues, so I'm hopeful.  Could I just have a bum bluetooth in my Macbook (it's only a month old), non retina.
Thank you in advance for any help!

Realize this is an old post, but in case anyone is searching:  I also had this problem but fixed it by resetting PRAM.  Shut down the computer.  Then start up again, holding down the option, command, P, and S keys.

However, I still don't get a view of anything on the desktop except for the standard Apple swirl.
Can you drag windows to the other display?
In the "Arrangement" tab of "Displays" system preference, you can drag the display pictures to match the actual arrangement, drag the menu bar to the other display, or enable mirroring.

Slow performance after installing Yosemite on an older Mac is often caused by inadequate memory. Although you can install the upgrade on a Mac with 2 GB of memory, experience has shown that at least 4 GB is needed for full performance.
Select About This Mac from the Apple menu. If you have less than 4 GB of memory, and your model has upgradable memory, install as much as it can take, or at least that much. Any reputable RAM vendor will have a web form in which you can select the Mac model and be directed to compatible parts.
Memory in the MacBook Air is not upgradable. If that's what you have, you should restore the previous system from a backup, or replace the machine. Ask if you need guidance.
The Etrecheck report clearly shows that SylvieRose has a Macbook Pro, not a Macbook Air and that there are only 2 GB  RAM installed.  The Etrecheck report can be very informative if one takes the time to examine it.
    Ciao.

  • What is the problem on MacBook Pro retina 15"?

I just bought a new MacBook Pro retina 15". After unboxing, I turned it on and there was no any problem. But the second time I turned it on and charge battery, I got 2 problems, 1. The machine made noise loudly and 2. The charging is not working. What is the problem on MacBook Pro retina 15"? However, after about 1 hour, it works normally. Should I still use it or sell it before it has more issues?

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
This, Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.70, is the current version of Flash. It should work with Snow Leopard or later.

  • Problems with Macbook Pro, Outlook sending mail, Comcast ISP

I have read several threads, but don't have a solution that works for me as of yet. I am new to the Apple community, and have a Macbook Pro using OS-X and Mavericks updates.  I also use Outlook for the MAC, but this problem occurs with Apple Mail as well.  I use Comcast as my home ISP.  I can send and receive email while at work with no problems.  At home, I can receive with no difficulty but cannot send.  My work email is a POP account.  I have tried overriding the outgoing server (default port 25) with ports 465 and 587, with SSL set and not set, yet I continue to get authorization or server not identified errors.  I can sign in to the same webmail account through Safari with no issues on the same computer and using the same ISP, but I cannot find a way to configure either Apple mail or Outlook to send!
I've been to the Apple Genius bar and on one occasion they were able to send email, but when I got home to my Comcast ISP, that ceased working.  Everything still is perfect at work, but nowhere else.  Any other information needed so that I can get some help?

when I got home to my Comcast ISP, that ceased working.
If you have not already done so, call Comcast tech support and/or post in their "Mac" forums.  You need to confirm that the problem is not on their end.  If you call, ask to speak w/someone in tier 3 tech support for Macs.
