Speaker problems with Inspire 5.1 digital 5500

Hi can anybody help me, I have just connected my surrounded sound Inspire 5.1 5500 but the rear and the centre speakers are not working, the left and right are fine. When I did the test they all seemed OK, but now there is no sound from those three I mention. Can somebody please help.
Thank You
Sarah.

Thank you for the information.
I Understand that I have to upmix to 6.1 (I think anyway) but I dont understand how I can get the creative in my programs, I think I need to go through the mediasouce to upmix but I do not know how to get access to the mediasouce, I have gone through the creative webiste trying to figure out how to download it but to no avail. Sorry to be a pain, but can you possible give me some instructions.
Thanks
Sarah.

    Hi,
Thank you for your reply, can you please explain to me how to set the speakers to 5.
    Thanks
    Sarah.
Depends on your software (no card model mentioned, no mention are you using digital/analog output signal), but in generally there is a special utility to use to select speaker system (on creative software it's called Creative Speaker Settings").
This application can be launched from Surround Mixer (speaker icon,) or using start -menu selection on program group Creative.
If you don't have this software bundled with your card (or have not installed it (yet)), then you can set speakers on Windows Control Panel's - Sound and Multimedia settings --> on Audio tab, select Advanced (button) on Sound Playback --> select speakers from droplist.

  • Rear speakers mapping over front speakers Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500

When I wanted surround on my pc a few years ago, and didn't want to buy a new speaker set, I hooked up my Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500 to my Audigy 2 ZS. The only way to do this was by plugging the different speaker inputs directly from the subwoofer connection panel into the various output ports of my card. Thus skipping the 5500's decoder/volume control device which is only hooked up to provide power to the sub/speaker system. Volumes are set on the audigy card itself.
This has worked fine for a few years and gave no problems whatsoever upto now. Even to the point where I replaced my Audigy 2 for a X-FI Fatality because I thought my soundcard was screwed. With the X-Fi it worked correctly for a day and then it went wrong again. I can't get it to work right and am clueless what the problem is. But I presume it's something in the speaker system.
    What happens is as follows:
My rear channels are so soft they almost sound muted. Changing the settings/levels in the speaker settings or THX calibration doesn't make any difference whatsoever. And the majority of the sound that has to go to the back gets mapped on the front speakers. This is also the case with the speaker test and not a dolby/dts/surround problem.
    Front Left is ok
    Front Right is ok
Front Center gets played by Front Center AND Front Left (soft volume) AND Front Right (soft volume)
Rear Left gets played by mainly FRONT Left (and very softly on Rear Left)
Rear Right gets played by mainly FRONT Right (and very softly on Rear Right)
I rewired, checked cables, (replaced the soundcard from Audigy 2 to X-FI), reinstalled drivers and reinstalled windows. I'm now clueless and got no idea how to get it fixed.
I also tried hooking them up through the optical cable on the X-FI bay and having them properly wired to the 5500's decoder device. But that was even less successfull (only getting a lot of static white noise and no audio signal whatsoever) I also read this won't get me surround anyways except for when true surround sources get played (dvd playback etc), so I stopped going down that path and have them back on the normal minijack plugs.
Please help. I don't want to have to invest in another speaker system. Especially not after the expensive audio card replacement which apparently wasn't necessary.
I also don't get it how a rear signal can end up on the front speakers. When they are seperate cables. Or is there a decoder in the sub-unit as well which may have been broken?
    Thanks in advance.

I have this exact same issue. I just purchased the X-Fi ExtremeGamer with the Digital I/O Module. I've tried both Coax and Optical, but I get no sound in the rear speakers. 6-Channel Direct works just fine.

  • Centre Speaker Problem with Z-5500 and X

When I have entertainment mode enabled (not sure if its the mode's problem or not) the centre speaker doesnt play alot of the music (I heard the voices are supposed to come from centre while ambience comes from the other speakers) most of the sound is coming from the other 4 speakers. Also, when the song gets real intense (or a word starting with "s" is said) the speaker starts to crackle and fizzle, and it makes me think the speaker is dieing or not able to handle that sound. However, when I enable game mode and play counterstrike or such, with the volume pretty high (about halfway for the Z-5500 is deafening) I can shoot and throw grenades and such but the centre channel (which plays alot more sound then when Im playing music) doesnt crackle or fizzle, it handles pretty much 80% of the sound) I especially hear the crackling/distortion or whatever it is when Im playing System of a Down's Chop Suey, when he says the line "self righteous suicide" it crackles and causes a fuzzy sound when he says it, and some other songs have parts of it when this happens. Just wondering why the X-Fi is causing this (i dont think its the modes problem cause I have the problem with game mode too) but it cant be the speaker as it works perfectly fine in game.

Hows it going mate. i have a very similar setup to you and have the same problem. the sound only comes out of the front and centre speakers. even the surround sound comes out of the fronts. this is because the vista drivers do not support dolby digital or dts. lol what a waste of money. there is no warnings about this when you purchase the card. i am appauled at this. It is false advertising.

  • Problem with inspire 5100 digital decoder

I have some problem with the decoder included with the Inspire 500 digital. I usually have it connected by soundblaster's audigy digital out to decoder's coaxial digital in (SPDIF). and recently sound has dissaperas replaced by a chipping and cropping low noise. Have you any ideas about it's. When I connect the soundblaser's speakers out to decoder's line in works only for stereo (losing 5.1 capabilities), and bypassing the decoder i can get 5.1 sound, but i can't use the included remote control to change volume or anything.
    Thank you.
I'm sorry for my poor english, it's not my native lenguage.

I'm not sure exactly how you're connecting things. You say you connected an optic out to a digital DIN on the receiver? These are totally different connectors.
The output on the card itself isn't optical. What you could use is a minijack to RCA (female) adapter, and then connect a standard RCA to RCA, male to male (SPDIF) cable to that, which plugs into the coaxial input on the receiver. Alternati'vely you could use a minijack to Digital DIN adapter and connect the DIN cable to that, and connect to the receiver.
Do you have the SBLi've 24-bit External? Do you mean you connected the optical output to the optical input on the receiver?
It may be best to contact Customer Support to speak to them one-on-one, to go over the connections and settings, if you're unsure of which to use.

  • Having Problem With Inspire 5.1 5300 rear speaker...

After using my inspire 5.1 5300 for few year... right now im having problem with my rear speaker... just one channel was unable to start... Anyone know about repairing for speaker ? I Have try to switch to other channel it seem that just that rear speaker was unable to start... all should be ok... week before i still hearing sound from that rear speaker... but now it was unable to start. Anyone Have Any Idea Please Tell Me. Thank You

Just to clarify, by "FCP 5 friendly source material," he means video files that are a format (codec) that FCP 5 supports. What FCP 5 supports can be found in the EASY SETUP list. If the format you are working with isn't there, say if your footage is H.264 or MP4 or some other web compressed format, FCP won't work properly.  It needs to be in an editing codec if you want FCP 5 to work with it.
Also, you need to make sure that your sequence settings match the settings of the footage you are trying to edit. If you add a clip to the sequence, and immediately have to render, that's a big clue to say that something isn't right. You should edit without rendering at all.
The most important thing you need to do is properly set up your project from the start, and the best way to do this is to choose a setting from the Easy Setups, located under the Final Cut Pro menu. Once you do this, you’ll need to create a new sequence.  This is because the sequence that is already in your new project is setup for the typical default setting of DV/NTSC, or for the settings of your last project, which might not match what you are currently working with.  So delete SEQUENCE 1 and create a new sequence:
This new sequence will contain the settings you chose in the Easy Setup menu, and should match the format you captured

  • Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500 Query

Hi, i'm new to 5.1 speaker systems and was just wondering on whenever I had correctly set up my speakers with my soundcard. I have a set of Digital 5500's and i'm using it with an audigy 2 ZS soundcard. I think i've set them up correctly by just using the digital output on the ZS which is connected to the Coax input on the speakers decoder. When I first started using the speakers I only got sound out of the front two so I turned on the CMSS and now i've got 5.1 I think. But when I try the noise test on the THX console I only get sound out of the left and right front speakers. Is this usual or is there a way to fix this. Also I never seem to get the Dolby Digital Sound through the Decoder, again I think i'm doing it right but i'm not sure.
    Can anyone help please lol?
    Thanks Dan

hi, this is a normal problem due to your choice of connection, this quote is taken from the creative floated thread in the soundblaster area.
    Digital Connections
Digital connections come in two standard forms, optical and coax. They both give you exactly the same result, the only difference is the medium (material) through which the signal travels. The thing to remember about digital is that for ordinary, uncompressed sound, it will only carry a stereo signal. So, if you like to use CMSS with your music, or you try the speaker test function, optical/coax is useless as you only hear the front left/right speakers.

  • Speaker problem with SoundBlaster Live! Va

    Hello all,
i've installed a SoundBlaster Li've! Value in my computer and i've connect to it a speaker system Creative Inspire 6. 6700
The problem is that i can't hear sound from central and LFE channels. And worse, in the creative surround mixer i cant' switch to 5./6. but only Headphone/2speaker/4speaker!
    WHY? Thanks for your help!

The reason is you have only got a 4 channel sound card....... It's not a 5. sound card. Dude it's time you upgrade man.

  • Problem with Aperture 2 and Digital Camera Raw Compatability update 3.1

Has anyone using Aperture 2 experienced problems with the Digital Camera Raw Compatability update 3.1. It may be purely coincidence but, since downloading this on March 3, I get the dreaded red screen and unsupported image format on my previously downloaded and edited RAW photos. I use a Pentax k-7 with which, once set up, I have had no problems until now!
Please - any help would be very gratefully received

That probably explains why any checks that your computer did to see if the Camera Raw update was okay to apply didn't stop it. You should probably contact Apple and explain that they broke something that was working fine previously.
A few people have reported backing off Camera Raw 3.1 and going back to Camera Raw 3.0 for now. This note is one of the ones I've found describing how to do that, if you wish to try that. Or, you could head down the path Apple means to lead you on and upgrade to Aperture 3.

if you need additional information, my pc is new very good system(intel core quad proccessor, motherboard asus p5kc) so i can't find out where is the problem!
    can anyone help me plz?

Hi, I have the same problem. Actually, it was working for a while, then all of a sudden: no sound from any of the speakers! Plugging headphones into the remote works, so there doesn't seem to be a problem with the connection between computer and the system; but there's definitely something wrong with the speakers... Any ideas here? I was really enjoying them up to this point...

  • Problem with External 2.1 digital speakers

Anybody have any problems with external digital speakers connected to the SPDIF connection?  I have a 1215-600XT, and I tried connecting my old DELL Boston Acoustic 2.1 speakers.  They worked, but any time a "sound" played, a loud pop would follow the end of the sound track.  If its multiuple sounds (i.e. an application that is making numerous alert sounds) I get multiple pops.  It even happens at the endf of music tracks.  It was so annoying, I stopped using the speakers.  before I invest in another set of speakers, want to know I am not wasting my time.
Also, anyway of getting the soundcard to support digital 2.1 or other sound?  The set-up screen only shows stereo for external speakers and no way of adding more.
    Sincerely
    Scott

    pmoney,
If you need a RMA, you will need to contact Customer Support either via email or phone. Also, it may be a fault with the sub and not just the cable alone, anyway contact Customer Support and they will be able to assist further.

  • 7700 speaker problems with control Pod

ok if anyone has speakers like this they know it comes with a little control pd that controls the volume and bass. well i think the problem is that sometimes the volume goes really high or really soft. and if you turn the volume up or down, the sound will go back to normal and you will be blasted or can't hear it. its very anoying to listen to music or game and this happens. it does this regardless of the number of speakers attached, and my drivers are up todate. i have onboard sound on a asus A8V mobo so its a newer board. some people said that the pod can get wonky, and i am checking to see if anyone has any suggestions on what i should maybe try short of RMA the speakers, its not that i don't want to RMA it but i would have to pay shipping on a set of speakers witch is kinda gay. any help would be great.. thanks

I have the same problem with my inspire 6.'s volume pod, after well under a year of flawless perfomance, the volume lowers randomly especially when I adjust the pod's volmue or just touch or move it. If I try to simply adjust for the loss of volume by cranking it up, it likes to blast me outta nowhere when it decides to work again. The only thing I can do to shortcut the 'down time' while waiting for it to adjust to normal level is to tap on the pod repeatedly usually causing the volume to adjust quicker...but I'm sure thats not the right method for fixing this irritating problem...PLEASE wont someone HELP ME?! Feel free to e-mail me @ [email protected], thanx!
