  • IPhone 5 update 6.1.3 speaker quit working after update

After update 6.1.3 on my iPhone 5 my speaker quit working. Did a restore still nothing. Headphones work just fine. No speaker phone or music.

Plugged into iTunes - told me to update to 6.1.3.  Did its thing... and no sound from speaker.  This happened immediately following the completion of the update - I didn't even pick up the phone.  ***!
Headphone works fine, but I get zippo from the speaker except an occasional crackle.
Turned off BT, reset settings, plugged and unplugged the headphones (to see if the sensor was stuck), rebooted the phone, did a restore to factory, everything I could think of.  Speaker is dead.
    Don't  perform this update - something's wrong.
Now I've got a useless piece of junk and I keep missing incoming calls.  Nice job Apple!

  • TS4079 Raise to speak quit working.

General settings, Siri, Raise to speak is still turned on. Turning it off and back on didn't help.

Activating Siri this way is tricky, and not at all intuitive.
You have to start with the phone in front of you, held parallel to the floor (ie. held flat horizontally), then bring it up to your ear so it's vertical with a normal, smooth motion. Your hand must rotate from the horizontal to vertical position of the phone.
If you start with the phone vertically in front of your face, then move it over to your ear Siri will NOT activate.
They key is starting with the phone held horizontally. The motion from horizontal to vertical is necessary. It uses the motion sensor as well as the proximity sensor.
This is illustrated on page 39 of the iPhone User Manual. I recommend you download the manual and look at the illustration and it will be crystal clear:

  • Left speaker only quit working on 5200

I have the Inspire 5.1 5200 speaker set and there's no longer any sound from the left front output. The problem seems to be the internal system of the subwoofer since I tested the cables, the speakers, and the soundcard. Output directly from the soundcard works fine with headphones.
The problem seems to have started when I loaded Win-XP but I can't imagine how that would have anything to do with it since the output from the soundcard is fine.
Is there anything inside that subwoofer that can be repaired? Does this sound familiar to anyone? Do I have to make a run to the dumpster?

I am having the same problem....exact same speaker quit working. I also get a few popping sounds when my pc comes on and also when trying to play a game. It gets frustrating because when a character in the game talks it pops thru the whole conversation. I thought it was my sound card - Audigy Gamer Card but then I bought this one - Audigy 2 ZS but it is doing the same thing. I hate to go out and buy a whole new set of speakers to verify that is the problem.
    My system is:
    P4 3.06 Ghtz
    024 Meg Ram
    2 80 gig Hard Drives
    DVD Drive
    DVD R/RW Drive
    Floppy Drive
    Speakers - Creative Inspire 5. 5200
I have built my system April 2004 and the problem started about 3 weeks ago. Will someone from Creatives Tech support actually respond to this?

  • HT1766 My iPad speaker suddenly quit working, ear phones are ok, anything in setup for a fix

My speaker suddenly quit working, ear phones are ok, is there a setting for this

Plug/unplug the headphones from the iPad a few times. Also try rotating the plug in the socket a few times. The headphone jack has an internal switch which turns the speaker off when the headphones are plugged in. The contacts may have gotten dirty within the socket. Working the plug within the socket can sometimes get things working again.

  • I have an iPhone 4S, and just now the sound quit working. It works with the headset and if I put it on speaker, but not anyway else. The music won't send sound out, the purine calls do the same. I reset to the original settings, nothing works.

I have an iPhone 4S, the sound quit working. I have sound in the headset and if I put the phone on speaker, I've reset to original settings, tried several options. Nothing works to resolve the options. Please help.

I would recommend taking a look at the article below for some speaker and receiver troubleshooting steps.

  • IPhone 4 ear speaker not working after 2 restores and cleaning the headphone socket.

    Hi,
I know this problem is not uncommon, but here goes...
I have an iPhone 4 which was running iOS 5.1.1 a few days ago when the ear speaker stopped working.  I cant hear the other person when I make or recieve a call, but nothing else is wrong with the phone.  It is 18 months old.
I've searched the discussions and seen some of the suggestions.  I tried cleaning out the headphone socket, with no luck.  I then tried a full restore and update to iOS 6.  This appeared to have worked.  I tried 2 calls and I could hear the other person.  I then left the phone alone for a couple of hours and when I tried it again, it had stopped working again.
I have since done another full restore but the speaker is still not working at all.  The fact that it worked after the first restore suggests it's something simple or software related but I have no idea what else to try other than getting it repaired in a shop.  The problem is I am in Japan where my network (Softbank) and an independent repair shop have both quoted me the equivalent of $176 / £110 to fix it.
Does anyone know anything else I can try before I give in and end up shelling out this ridiculous cost for something that is probably a 20 minute fix?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem with my ear speaker after my IOS 6 upgrade. My speakers work, bluetooth works, the earphones work, but the ear speaker doesn’t work. I noticed this IMMEDIATELY after the upgrade was completed. I also have the following problems:
-Very slow call connect time. 30 - 45 seconds just to connect is typical. Signal strength is 5 bars (ATT)
    -Problems attaching to known networks
-Very slow internet browsing with many timeouts on both the ATT 3G service and known Wi-Fi networks.
    - My camera was missing after the IOS 6 upgrade. I restored that from Restrictions inside of the Settings App
    - Music was so screwed up it was easier to just restore it
I went to the Apple store hoping to get some support. Between my wife, my son, and myself we have purchased 4 iPhones and an iPad over the last few years with plans to purchase another iPad in a month or so. So it’s not like I' not familiar with Apple Technology and their typical level of support.
The individual who waited on me was rude and condescending. He insisted that all of the problems were hardware related or ATT’s fault, or my fault. He further asserted that IOS 6 had NOTHING to do with any of the problems. I pointed out that it would be quite a coincidence for my hardware to break, for ATT to have network problems, and for me to suddenly forget how to use an iPhone at the same exact moment that IOS 6 had been installed. He maintained his position and offered to sell me another phone.
I don’t expect the folks in the store to reprogram the OS. Mistakes happen. I’m going to guess that Apple’s OS programmers are already working on a fix for many of the IOS 6 complaints that are easy to find on Google. Assigning blame to the customer and denying any responsibility is not a model for success or customer service. I’m sure Apple wouldn’t accept that kind of excuse from their component manufacturers and don’t think it is how they should deal with their customers. Further, Apple wants to own the device. They want to control the apps, the OS, battery, the delivery channel. I’m good with that so long as when there is a problem, they own that as well.
And BTW… I’m not including the maps in my list of issues with IOS 6 because I kind of like the new maps and am willing to give Apple the benefit of the doubt. I believe that their map service will get a lot better in a hurry.

  • External sound console quit working on aud

i have an audigy 2 zs platinum pro. the external console is model sb0290. one day (and i dont know exactly when) the console quit working. as if it gets no power. i used to be able to turn down the volume from it and one day just noticed it ceases to function. i m pretty sure the connection are fine. my right front speaker (from 7. set) quit working as well but i dont think it was at the same time. it kinda works now but is much quieter than the others. are these maybe related to a sound card going bad or something else entirely? any ideas?

  • Left external speaker stopped working

Left external speaker stopped working, right works fine. When I connect headphones, they work fine. Have tried two different sets of speakers, deleted plists and reset pram. Please help!

Hmm. I think its not a sound card and its not a speaker problem because both parts (left speaker and sound card) seems to be ok as you have posted in your message.
Im not quite sure what could be wrong but possibly this issue has something to do with the headphone jack there is a tiny switch inside the headphone jack which enables and disables the speakers if the headphone jack has been plugged.
Maybe this switch does not work properly.
What to say in such case the hardware needs to be replaced but in most cases the headphone jack is a part of the motherboard and in such case the whole mobo needs to be replaced and I think this is not worth because of the high parts costs

A few days ago I tried to help a guy with Bose External Speakers and we found the male jack isn't quite long enough to make the connection:
    PROBLEM SOLVED!!
Just to share information for others who might come across this problem with Bose or any other external speakers, where the male jack doesn't quite go in far enough for the MacBook to recognize it, here is the solution that worked for me:

This is a very inexpensive solution and works great for me.  I'm listening to my Bose speakers now and they sound great!!  Thank you to all of you for your suggestions and help troubleshooting.

  • All of the the Windows Sidebar Apps have quit working

With the latest update today, all of my Sidebar gagdets have quit working. When I go to reinstall, I am asked what Firefox should do with them. Why? My gadgets are a windows thing.

I really have no idea what you are doing or what your signal routing looks like, nor do I know how experienced you are with audio software and signal routings in general. What I now think you mean is that you can't monitor your input properly, you cannot hear the signal of the mic? Is that right? Or how did you arrive to the conclusion that none of your plugins work on audio tracks? Have you actually put an audio file on your audio track?
If you want to hear your input +processed through Logics' plugins,+ you need to enable Software Monitoring - just add its button (with a 'muted speaker' icon) to the transport by rightclicking the transport and ticking *Software Monitoring* on the list. Button grey=off, button green with dot in it=on.
Of course the channel strip/track you receive the input on should also have an output selected, or you will never hear anything.
