  • I just got a new iMac. And I wondered if I can. Use my yamaha speaker system with subwoofer?

I just got a new Iimac and I wondered if I can use my speaker system from my last pc, the speakers are yamahas with a powered subwoofer ?

If your presumably "amplified" Yamaha speakers have a USB connection, then it should work fine with your iMac by connecting the USB connection and THEN going into your Mac's Applications folder>System Preferences>Sound>select the "Output" tab and select the Yamaha speakers shown in the list below.  That should do it.
    Hope this helps

  • Can I connect my Ipod Nano to my sound system with amplifier

Is it possible to connect my Ipod nano to my sound system which has an amplifier. If so any problem will occur to my ipod nano.

The usual way of doing this is to buy the universal dock, then use the line out jack on the dock to connect to your amp via a cable that has a mini jack (like the one on your headphones) at one end and 2 RCA phono plugs at the other end (to connect to line in sockets on your amp).
You can do this direct from the headphone socket on the iPod instead of buying the dock, but personally I don't think the sound quality is as good this way.

  • HT2844 iMac 27"(late 2009), Audio in/Optical digital audio out port, stopped recognizing my new Bose speaker system, previously working...

    Hello,
My iMac 27"(late 2009), Audio in/Optical digital audio out port, stopped recognizing my new Bose speaker system, previously working through that port. I tested the speaker system through my iPhone, and it works fine. I hooked it up to the Headphone out/Optical digital audio in port, and it works through that port also. I did a computer restart, I also checked all wiring and did a system repair on the computer. I also restarted the computer in mode where I could use the system utility, and the computer still did not correct the matter, and it reported everything as being "ok". I wented into "sound", through system preferences, and the computer does not recognize anything I plug into the Audio in/Optical digital audio out port. When I plug the speaker sysytem into the headphone out/optical digital audio out port, it does recognize the Bose speaker system as being "headphones".
Reading through a lot of forums, I hear everything from compatibility, to the port being stuck, and on and on. Since the port was working before, and just quit working one day, I wonder if there is a capacitor or fuse or some type of similar thing is blown, and causing the port to be unfunctionable. Maybe the port went bad, but before this time, I had never used it, and the computer does not move around, and I never plug in and pull wiring out unless needing to, and that being rare.
Here is a link to Costco, where I bought the system, and the exact system I have, if this is any help:  http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku= A4092931&ST=pla&dgc=ST&cid=262075&lid=4742361&acd=1230980794501410
By the way, I am running OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5). I upgraded to Mavericks about a month ago, and expeirienced a number of issues, and had to take my iMac into Apple. Talking with the tech, I decided to wait for a while more before I upgraded to Mavericks. I try and keep the computer maintained.
If any of you have any ideas regadrding wear and tear, and fix I can do, etc., besides having to take my computer into Apple? Thank you, and potentially all of you, for your time and effort in helping me with this issue. Thank you kindly.
    davE

Okay, davE, first, you have posted in the "Mac Pro" forum (not Macbook Pro), so we can't be super helpful
but we help you. First, hold down the Option key while clicking on the speaker icon at the top of your screen. This should show you all the inputs and outputs you have. you could check in "About this Mac" then "More info" to see whatever's recognized. Then, maybe, fire up Audio MIDI. your speaker system should show up there. something might have gotten set incorrectly. You can test it there.  I guess you are using the good ol' analog cable for connection, and it works on your iPhone, so the cable isn't bad.  You could try this. it 's an adapter which might solve your problem

depending on which model of Bose speaker you have, you might try doing a product reset
turn off speakers...unplug power cord from outlet...wait 1 minute..plug cord into outlet..turn on speakers..
    \\turning off automatic standby||
press and hold top of control pod for 6 seconds until you hear 2 tones that go from high to low
other than that ,I  don't know

  • Is my speaker system compatible with MSI K8N SLI Diamond?

    Hi!
Can I use my old speaker system with MSI K8N SLI Diamond. My speaker system is Creative Inspire 5.1 5500D Digital with decoder. Now 5.1 sound doesn't work properly. When I try look movie with PowerDVD6, center speaker is dead and no speech on movie. On PowerDVD6, SPDIF output is selected and tried also 6.1 channel options but no, speech will not play at center speaker. Some games too 5.1 surround doesn't work. I have connected my speaker system on motherboard coaxial SPDIF to speaker systems Decoder coaxial SPDIF, and speakers on that decoder. Do I have to buy new analog speaker system to get 5.1 surround working? If I connect my speaker system directly on MB analog outputs, sound balance in very bad, rear and front speaker is good but center speaker crackling and speech at center speaker sound like volume level is much too high.

Quote from: Stick on 10-February-06, 19:24:28
if you know that the speakers are working (tested on another pc) it is usually a software configuration error. if the decoder would mess up the sounds, it is unlikely that you would hear anything in the other speakers too.
My speakers systems works perfect my previous setup, when motherboard has nForce2 SoundStorm integrated chip.
Some other forums, peoples claims that this MSI k8n motherboard can't send multichannel 5.1 surround audio on SPDIF and I have to connect my speakers on motherboard analog sound outputs.

  • Speaker system no longer recognizes my ipod

Wondering if others have run into a similar situation and if there's an easy fix -- I have previously used an Altech-Lansing speaker system with my iPod classic very successfully.  Now all of a sudden when I connect my iPod it tells me the accessory is unsupported.  I can't seem to get it to work at all.  Only change is that I recently added some songs/updated my library, but wouldn't think this should affect anything.
Would be very happy to get feedback from anyone out there who has encountered something like this recently...

Perhaps something in this article can help: iPod does not appear in iTunes or iPod updater in Mac OS X Products Affected
Have you tried a simple hard reset of the device with it still connected to your Mac? To do this, first make sure the hold switch is in the off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • Headphone out distorion - only when on OS X

My Macbook Pro has a strange issue that I can't find anything about.
I often have speakers/headphones connected to the headphone out port. However, all sounds are a little distorted... as if they were being played through very very cheap speakers. At first I thought something was terribly wrong with my Shure headphones, however when connected to an iPod (with the same audio files) they sound great.
So then I thought it must be a problem with the headphone out port on the mac, or the audio chips inside. However, when I booted in Windows XP (blasphemy i know) the headphones sounded just like they do on the iPod - great.
Therefore it must be something to do with OS X. I have tried iTunes with sound enhancer on and off, volume adjustment on and off, equalisers all off - nothing improves this poor sound quality issue.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • FPS2000 Digital Speaker System

I currently have an FPS 2000 Digital Speaker System, with an Audigy 2 Platinum sound card on a Win XP system.
The subwoofer itself has no input jack to connect from the Audigy 2, but there is a Digital DIN connector on the subwoofer that will connect ALL speaker channels to the sound card. Is there a cable available that will do this with an Audigy 2? If so, where can I buy one? Also, I'm currently planning on buying a new Win7 Pro system.
Will I be able to use the Audigy 2 and FPS2000 speakers in Win 7 Pro's XP mode?

Ah, I have just found the cable here :-

  • Remote Speaker Systems

Hello there, I'm trying to find a remote wireless speaker system with transmitter jack from my Teac stereo system that will allow me to listen to CD's etc. 'through the wall'. I do not want to have to run yards of cable to achieve this. Any suggestions as to product and where to acquire it's

This is a firewall issue most likely. I was having the same problem. And I went to my firewall (norton internet security) and disabled it, and it worked.
Then I went in and gave iTunes the permission to do everything and it worked fine as well.
There is an apple support ticket that almost covers it, but brings up UDP as the culprit.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303157
However, my firewall had allowed UDP, so it might be something else that the firewall is blocking.

  • Even with my earphones out my iphone still says i'm in head phone mode

Even with my headphones out my iPhone still is in headphones mode?

This has been an ongoing issue with iPhones and iPod touch's ... but in most cases, it's an easy fix.
In many cases, the issue is caused by a small sensor in the headphone jack that may be jammed or blocked... the recommendation that I got from the Apple Store was to put your headphones in fully, and remove it... do it 3-4 times and see if that fixes the problem.
If not, then your best bet is to hit the Apple Store.

  • No sound from speaker port with X-fi, but headphones and line out are f

After going through a lot of driver updating yesterday, I encountered several bad drivers and had to do a system restore a few times. However, after I did that my Sound Blaster X-fi card stopped putting sound out through the speakers. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, updating the driver, reconnecting everything, running diagnostics, and looking at the system settings, but nothing works. Oddly enough, when it's either disabled or not used as my default playback device (apparently I also have a Realtek AC97), the speakers will play, but when I try using X-fi it doesn't. The odd thing is that the AC97 was one of the corrupt drivers (which I removed and returned to its original driver, don't know what the date was), but the X-fi didn't have any problems at all, but now it seems glitchy whenever I try to do anything with it, including trying to uninstall the drivers and looking it up in the System Information console. The Device Manager says I have the most recent driver for the X-fi right now, but even if I roll it back it still doesn't work. EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM HERE!
I havent got another motherboard to test my x-fi xtreme music on, but it's a very frustrating problem, if i boot up from cold the soundcard is either not recognised or is recognised but there's no sound output.
My motherboard is ASUS P5E3 Pro,
    Memory: 8GB OCZ DDR3 600
    Cpu: x9650 extreme @ stock 3.0GHz
    Psu: Coolermaster 850w modular
Gfx: HD 5770 (will be changing this to a HD4890 soon as it's rubbish)
Ive tried all sorts of combinations to try and get this soundcard working properly, stick of ram, etc... NOTHING WORKS AND IM ANNOYED!
Ive played about with just about every bios setting i can find (theres a lot on this board) and still no luck, i've got the latest bios flashed and everything is upto date, as a musician this problem is very irritating, having to reboot the computer about 3 times to get the sound working! even then theres problems with sound drop-outs.
Makes no difference if i use windowsXP or windows7 the problem still remains, i might ask asus to make a bios update for this problem because im not sure if creative have the answers.

  • My iPods internal speaker isn't working, the sound works with headphones but now without. I've turned it on and off several times and pulled the headphone out and put them back in but nothing seems to work, please help?!

My sound usually works but just yesterday it totally just stopped. The sound is turned on full, the headphones are out, and I've tried turning it off then back on but it didn't help at all. It's an iPod touch 2nd generation, 8G.

Try the following to rule out a software probleM
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPodIf you still have the problem you likely have a problem with the headphone jack in the iPod.  They can be replaced.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to identify/determine the cause.
