Speaker Volume gone as of today

For some strange reason today, for no apparent reason I seem to have lost about 75% of my volume. I did nothing different today from any other day. I recharged it last night, drove for hours today. Then all of a sudden tonight someone called and I couldn't hear the ring tone volume. Then I tried the ipod and I get almost unhearable volume. The volume is set as high as possible, the equalizer and sound setting thingy in the ipod setting is turned off. The head phones work fine.
(I upgraded to 1.1.2 last week and it's been fine until today)
What happened? is there anything I can do? Is there anything I should look into?
TIA,
Peter

First thing I would try is plugging and unplugging your headphones into the iphone about 6 times, the jack has been known to "hang" sometimes, making iphone act as if the headphones are plugged in when their not.
Hope this helps.

  • Speaker Volume Gone Too Low Suddenly

    Hi,
I have an iPhone4 and it has worked like a charm for about a year now. Just recently, out of nowhere the volume on the speakers have gone extremly low. It is so low that you can only hear if you hold the speakers part of your phone close to your ear and there is no other sound/noise around you. On the first day this happened, I tried turning it off and back on again a few times without any success.
Then when I was playing a game next day, the volume came back up again suddenly and the phone was back to normal. It only lasted a few hours though, the same thing happened again and the volume has gone low since then. I have tried so many things hoping it is a software issue and might get resolved by doing a factory restore, but it's not helping at all.
Has anyone had this problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
And if this is a hardware issue, is it fixable by replacing speakers or something? What should I do next in order to get this resolved?
    Regards,
    Hiral

Okay, for the record, the problem was dirt in the speaker, which was blocking it and muffling the sound.  I managed to open the case (thank you Youtube) and get in their with compressed air, which managed to blow out whatever junk was in there.  It made a huge difference.  So that was it!

  • Where have my speaker volume and internet connection notification icons gone?

This morning two 'notification icons' (at bottom right of screen) vanished: speaker volume, and internet connection. How do I restore them?
I have Firefox 6.0.2 running on Windows Vista

Great, thanks you two, much appreciate the help. They only say it will be restored ASAP. Has this happened before and how long did it take to fix? Also, I'm in the UK so I assume its a global issue?
    Thanks

  • IMac- External Bose speaker volume is suddenly low

I can't figure out what happened between yesterday and today but suddenly my speaker volume is really low. I've read the forums and tried some different things but I can't seem to get the volume that I normally have... disturbing. Any thoughts?

Not a hardware/sofward issue, user error. Someone used the volume slider bar on the Spotify app. Didn't even know that existed but issue resolved.

  • Speaker Volume changed after 10.4.10 Update

    Hi.
I updated to 10.4.10 recently and since then my speaker volume has gone quieter. i can barely hear something for example when i have 3 bars on the built-in onscreen volume meter.
I know that the speakers in my powerbook were better than those in my macbook pro, but this volume thing makes me crazy.
    Anyone any ideas?
    Thanks & Greets, Oli

    Hi Oli,
It takes some time but here's how..
Backup your User folder and all other data you want backed up/saved.
Boot from the OSX dvd, erase the drive and re-install a fresh system (probably 10.4.7 or 10.4.8 that came on ur dvd) after installing run all software updates but ignore the 10.4.10 one.
After software update tells you all that remains is the 10.4.10 update go to the apple downloads p-age and download the 10.4.9 (not combo) updater and run it.
Ur now back on 10.4.9, restore your backups and everything should be back to normal.
Use disk utility to verify/repair permissions before and after updates.
It takes a bit of work but downgrading was well worth the effort for me.
    Cheers

  • Low Speaker Volume

My Blackberry 8820 started having a really low speaker volume today. I have the volume bar cranked all the way up, and I can barely hear the person on the other end.  I've had it for a few weeks and the volume has been fine before today, so I have no idea why it's started doing this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Kato,
Sorry to hear about the low volume, that can be frustrating!  I would start by removing the battery, reinserting and powering back on.   See if your profile volume is set to high by selecting Profiles -> Advanced-> (active profile)-> phone ->Volume (set to high) ...if all else fails a master reset (Options, Security Options, General Settings, (press menu key) select wipe handheld will be last resort ( Dont forget to BACKUP!)
If these options don't resolve, I would recommend calling your service provider for replacement options....
    Good luck!

  • Speaker volume too low on 3GS - any way to increase it?

The speaker volume is too low on my IPhone 3GS. Other than the volume control is there any other way to increase it?

With volume control do you mean the buttons on the side of the phone? or in settings? When playing something on speaker and i want it louder, I just click the up button on the side of the phone.

  • Satellite Pro T110 - speaker volume problem

How do I increase the volume of the speakers in my T110?
Ive read other forums that suggest thats just the way it is but that cant be right - its impossible to hear on max.
My partner has a Toshiba NB300 (much smaller) but the speaker volume is much better.
Is it a common problem with T110 buyers?
    Is there a fix PLEASE?

    Hi buddy,
I never saw any other forums where people talk about low volume on Satellite T110 I also have this model and the sound volume is ok for this small and ultra portable notebook.
I think you want to increase the volume when watching movies or listen music, right?
Well, in this case I would recommend using VLC media player. In my opinion its the best freeware player and using it you can improve volume compared to Windows media player.
Have a look on Google to find it. Its freeware tool so I dont think its a problem to find. ;)

  • IPad mini retina low speaker volume

I've just bought my iPad mini retina and I have noticed that the speaker volume is very low. I know the speakers are small as of the size of the device but even my iphone 5s with one speaker is louder and was not sure if this was normal or my device not working correctly? I've got until 11th of jan to take back for exchange and would rather get it sorted before that if it is the device causing this issue

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

  • Improved speaker volume on late 2007 MacBooks?

I just bought a new 2.2 ghz black MacBook last week. The internal speaker volume sounds fine to me.
Did the Santa Rosa chip set fix this problem?

    Benny P. wrote:
It may be that; or Apple put a better speaker system in the newer MacBooks.
In the older ones, it was pitiful. So I do hope Apple did upgrade the speakers, it could make customers happy.

It isn't exactly pitiful. I've heard that Apple released a firmware that lowered the maximum output. To fix this, you can download Audio Hijack. You can set the volume up to 200%.

  • MacBook Pro speaker volume

I just finished importing a ton of CDs to my laptop and now I find I cannot get the internal speaker volume up past a whisper.  Any thoughts?  This is barely audible yet is working fine on an external output device via Bluetooth.  And, for those of you who say reset PRAM or buy external speakers, this problem never existed until I recently began importing my music library.  I'm sure it's just a setting but I don't know where to begin and definitely do not want to re-import 1000's of songs at a new volume.  Please help.  Thanks.

    Hello there, Donna.
There are a few places where sound can be adjusted on your Mac. If you're in the iTunes application, the following link from the online iTunes Help Guide provides some standard information:
Adjust the volume - iTunes Help
Adjust the volume of music and video
Change the volume for all songs (like turning the volume knob on a stereo): Use the volume slider at the top of the iTunes window.
The maximum volume is limited by your computer’s volume setting.
Adjust the volume of a particular song or video: Select it, choose File > Get Info, click Options, and drag the volume slider. iTunes uses this setting each time the song or video plays.
Have all songs and videos always play at the same volume level: Choose iTunes > Preferences, click Playback, and select Sound Check.
If you’re using remote speakers connected to an AirPort Express: You can use the volume controls on the speakers as well as the iTunes volume controls. To use only the speaker’s controls, click the AirPlay button , click Single, and choose the speakers from the pop-up menu.
SEE ALSOChoose which speakers to use
Additionally the Mac OS Help Guide provides this information:
Turn the volume up or down - Mac Help
Turn the volume up or down
To change your computer’s volume, click the Volume control in the menu bar, then drag the slider to adjust the volume. If the Volume control isn’t in the menu bar, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Sound. Click Output, then select the “Show volume in menu bar” checkbox.

Currently my record level is equal to my speaker volume. When I mute the speakers, the record level is 0. No record level controls are visible. How can I fix this?

In the Audio Mixer, the slider for speaker volume moves in tandem with the Audition slider. They cannot be controlled independently.
It should be .exe -r (with a space). If you can't get record options at all, then something weird is going on, and we'd need to know more about your particular PC or laptop.
