Speakers aren't working on i pod touch 5. Very crackly and muffled.

Very crackly and muffled. I followed the directions to reset settings, didn't work. then I did a total restore. didn't work. Any ideas?

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

As I said in my previous reply:
If defective, Apple will exchange the iPod at no cost unless they have been abused. That applies to Apple earphones too.

  • HP HP 15-r006la speakers aren't working

I recieved my new laptop but the speakers aren't working. Volume mixer shows activity even though I can't hear anything. When I plug-in my headphones, they work just fine.

    Hi there @Fabmoral
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are getting no sound from your speakers, but that headphones work fine. I am happy to help.
I assume you are referring to the internal speakers on the notebook, if I am wrong let me know. With that in mind please take a look at this page:
No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8)
Let me know if that fixes it.

  • Audigy 2 ZS - Rear Speakers Aren't Working

*Audigy 2 ZS - Rear Speakers Aren't Working-Well, before on XP, just restarting, and re-installing my drivers worked flawlessly.
Since XP, I've installed W7 x64 Bit, and the rear never worked, but I didn't mind, as I was always using my headset for gaming, but now that I've stopped gaming so much, and listen to music much more, I've been wanting my rear speakers back!
Anyways, I've tried the nati've, original Creative drivers, no go.
I'm using Daniel K's right now, no go.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Here's my rig-

I got this problem when I updated to the new drivers, so that might be your problem since you recently updated. Check to make sure that your speakers settings are for 5. and not stereo. Also make sure that the speaker system is set to receive 6 channel input instead of stereo -- I know my Logitech 5500 system can set to stereo even if it is receiving 6 channels in.

    Try:

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup

  • AV digital works audio only on touch but both audio and video on ipad

The av digital accessory does audio only on the Itouch but works fine on the IPad showing both audio and video?

To try and keep it simple, there are 3 variables here.
    1) Acquisition - You can either record with a stereo or mono mic, you've probably used mono.
2a) Capturing - In the 'clip settings' tab of the log and capture window, you can choose how you want to capture your audio, choosing from the 'Audio Format' drop down menu.
2b) Editing - If you've already captured some material, in the timeline, check the audio tracks. If, for example, a clip has audio tracks a1 and a2, and you can see 2 sets of small triangles at the start and end of the clip, you have stereo audio.
(double click the audio track and in the viewer you will see a 'stereo a1a2' tab with linked stereo - any changes you apply here will equally apply to both tracks - although you can 'pan' the audio using the 'pan slider' for example, if you want the sound of a car approaching to start in the left speaker, then move to the right speaker as it moves past on screen)
If there aren't the triangles, double click the audio and in the viewer you'll have 2 seperate mono tracks - mono a1 and mono a2 - assuming you haven't captured the audio format as 'mono mix', ch1(L) or ch2(R).
You can link seperate mono tracks in the timeline by selecting the audio clip and hitting opt (alt) L, (similarly, you can unlink stereo track by the same procedure).
If you've got a single mono track, you can duplicate the track and then link, pan, etc as required - can't remember exactly as it's ages since I captured single channels.
    3) Output - The decisions you make in 2) determine how your content willl be outputted. (Is 'outputted' a word?)
I'm by no means an audio expert so I hope this is clearer than mud.

  • HP ENVY 17 Notebook My speakers aren't working

Hi. Can anyone help me? I have recently updated my hp to windows 8.1 64 bits but I hadn't any problem till yesterday. I often hear music on my laptop and yesterday I plugged (for the first time since I have the laptop - it has a month or two) my headphones. The music was sounding different from the way I was used to hear on the laptop and so I disconnected them. After that I pressed the play again but I didn't hear any sound from the speakers. Aparently the are on, the drivers are updated, I don't undestand. My serie number is 5CG3260W51

    Hi,
Can you post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of your Envy 17 series notebook - see Here for a guide on locating this information.

  • My Macbook Pro speakers aren't working and the headphone jack is emitting a red light when I try to play something with sound. HELP!

The question says it all. It worked perfectly last night and stopped working this morning. A whole day has gone by and the speakers still don't work. I've plugged in headphones and that works.
When I try to increase volume or decrease volume, it shows me the mute sign which makes no sense at all. When I try to unmute, it stays muted.
HELP I'M ON THE VERGE OF BREAKING THIS P.O.S. LAPTOP

SO I just now had the same problem. A million threads online suggested to try inserting headphones, toothpicks, or even qtips to try and switch the "switch" inside the headphone jack. Everyone had great results from using the toothpick method. Well that didn't work for me. here's what FINALLY WORKED!!--> I wrapped a toothpick in fashion tape (fashion tape is basically stretchy double sided tape. If you don't have any ask some girls and someone will have). My thought was that maybe this "switch" didn't need to be flicked or pushed like a button. Maybe it was stuck in like a button that has been pushed in. I used the sticky toothpick to pull up the button/switch. Basically, take the toothpick and pressdown on the switch (supposedly the botton is inside the jack at the 6 or 7-0clock position) and then press the toothpick away (so that you are pushing in the opposite direction [1-oclock]). do this multiple times so you're flicking the toothpick back and forth. Just make sure you press firmly enough in the 6-oclock position so the tape can get stuck to the button.
    Two tips for this method:
    1) I had tried a manicure q-tip first, which in hindsight could've cleaned out the headphone jack, facilitating a surface that can get stuck to the fashion tape effectively.
    2) You can see in the photo attached that I wrapped the tape on the toothpick a little past the edge so that there was extra tape on the end of the toothpick. That was (and this is just my theory) to make up for the fact that toothpicks have a tapered end. I figured that having this extra loose bit of tape at the end would allow me to reacch into any nook or crany of the headphone jack where this mysterious "button" might be lurking.

  • What if your speakers aren't working on iPod

My iPod keeps on telling me that my headphones are plugged in and I don't know how to resolve this problem!

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
