Speakers disjointed and lagged sound - HP Pavilion dm4 Notebook PC

Every now and then my laptop faults when playing videos/music. The laptop is a HP Pavilion dm4 Notebook PC with Intel Core i3-2330M @2.20GHz
Basically sometimes when playing a video/music the speaker is distorted and laggy. Usually when watching a video this is also laggy. The computer seems to run really slowly and trying to move the mouse or type it takes a few seconds for the letters to appear.

I would think that with 6GB of RAM you wouldn't be having lagging issues either...
Especially since it is under warranty, let HP look at it and see what they say.

I grasp you did a system recovery back to factory and now you are missing the driver for the fingerprint reader.
You have a couple of options, you can download the driver from the HP website and install or use recovery manager to install original driver.
    AuthenTec Fingerprint Sensor Driver sp54850.exe
Cannot Logon to Windows with SimplePass Fingerprint Reader, please select resolve using recovery manager.
    I hope this helps!

  • There is no sound from my dm4 notebook

there is no sound from my dm4 notebook.
I bought it from a bestbuy store around October as of last year (2011), and it was doing fine with the exception that sometimes it mute on its own when I start up the laptop and sometimes the mute/unmute button on the keyboard is not working.
Those problem I could deal with but now now there is no sound/ audio coming out of my laptop.. I did some checking on 'speakers and headphones properties' and a couple others based on the internet forums, it seems everything are working fine and enabled but still there is no sound coming out of my laptop, could it be physical damage inside??
update 1: last time I heard a sound was when I was using an earphone, the next day i unplugged the earphone and cant hear no sound, I later tried to ue the earphone again multiple times but to no avail.
update 2: i tried to update the IDT high definition Audio Codec from the device manager but it said I am already using the most updated one.

Got a restore point just prior to the problems?
    Time to use it.
It still doesn't deal with the issue of the sound dissapearing.
BUT, see if the restore point works first.

  • BIOS for my HP Pavilion dm4 notebook i3-2310m Windows 7 (64 bit)

    Hello,
I need some help in downloading a BIOS update to my HP Pavilion dm4 notebook i3-2310m Windows 7 (64 bit OS). I went to this web site after reading replies to other users' problems.  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5051... I downloaded the following BIOS update file and tried updating the BIOS (using InsydeFlash, which popped up when I run the sp56058.exe file). The InsydeFlash displays a message that this file sp56058.exe is not for my machine.
    Released: 2012-02-08
    File name: sp56058.exe [1/1, 4.25M]
    Version:     F.27
    Compatibility:
    Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)
    Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
    Microsoft Windows XP
Could some one please help me as to how I should go aboutupdating my BIOS, because my HP Pavilion dm4 Notebook battery does not charge, but is up and running when it is connected to the electric outlet.
    Thanks in advance.
    Sean

    Hi @nsean
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having problems with your notebook batter and updating your BIOS.
It is strange that it is saying it is not for your notebook when you got it from the support page, assuming of course it is the correct support page.
Have you tried a previous version of the BIOS, from the same drivers page?
Also have you tried to troubleshoot the battery and power itself?
You may want to look through these pages related to the battery and power adapter to see if anything clicks.
Using and Testing the AC Power Adapter
Computer Does not Start (Windows 7, Vista, XP)
AC Adapter Battery Charging Indicator LED Does Not Display Immediately When Plugged In
Improving Battery Performance (Windows 8, 7, Vista)
Let me know if any of that helps.

  • Broken Screen and crazy display- HP Pavilion 15 Notebook

Today , I had my HP Pavilion 15 Notebook, which I bought last year, sitting on my lap in bed doing homework. I leaned to grap a paper, and it slid off my lap onto the floor.  I have attached an image of the display. How much will it cost me to fix it?

    Hi @MyScreenBroke ,
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publically post ( serial numbers and case details).

  • No sound on Pavilion dm4-3009tx Beats Edition

Send my notebook into Hibernate. When he returned - no sound on him. Re-install driver from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-104903-1&cc=hk&dlc=en&lc=en... , nothing changes. No sound when i used headphones, no sound when i use speakers on notebook.

    Hi,
    Perform a hard reset:
Unplug the AC adapter from the notebook PC.
Remove the battery from the notebook battery compartment.
Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices.
Press and hold down the power button for about 1 minute to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.
Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook PC; but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
Press the power button to turn the notebook PC back on.
If prompted to boot into Safe Mode or select a special type of start up, use the arrow keys to highlight Start Windows Normally , and then press the enter key.

  • No Sound HP Pavilion dv9925nr Notebook PC

About two days ago, I lost all sound to my laptop.  I am getting the following messages at startup:  Could not find Conexant audio device, application cannot run properly and No audio output device installed.  I have not made any changes.  This seemed to have began after a MIcrosoft update.  I have downloaded the Conexant driver from the HP website to no avail.  There was a point where I did have sound but it didn't last very long.  One other observation,  I am missing the Sound, video and game controller link in Device Manager.  I'm at my wits end and need assistance in diagnosing/correcting this problem.  Is this an indication of a hardware error?

i had the same issue. my laptop is not detecting the hardware so i cant update or anything. ive tried restoring to a previous date, a few days before the problem started, but it did nothing. i had installed some updates for the audio and the graphics card and the internet modem and for the BIOS from the hp website. the audio came back for a few mins twice and one time it tried on its own to install an update for the high definition bus but it want able to do it and the audio died again. I've tried all of the suppourt sites and hp site but they have no hellp for it. i think im gonna have to take it somewhere to get fixed

  • Keyboard volume control and wireless switch - HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook

My keyboard volume control & wireless switch (the touch ones at the top of the keyboard) just quit working the other day. I can't figure out how to tell if i turned something off accidentally or what. Rebooting didn't help. The only thing I did differently that day was connect my laptop via cable and shut off the wireless. (I usually work wireless).

    Hi,
Problems with the capacitive strip can sometimes be helped by performing a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.

  • Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook Express Card and Wireless Recei

I?purchased a Creative Wireless Recei'ver and a Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook Express Card. At the risk of removing any doubt that I am an idiot, what is the purpose of the square piece of stretchy black material? It was nicely packaged, but I don't know what I'm to do with it. It's about 4 inches square and stretchy, like spandex. I sent an email to Customer Service. They have no clue and advised me to call Direct Sales. They don't know what the purpose of the cloth is either. Any ideas?

Ok guys this is how I fixed the problem on my X-Fi PCI-Express. Open the Creative SB X-Fi Volume panel. Mine is set in game mode and I have 5 vertical sliders for Line-In /Mic, MIDI Synth, Digital-In, and the last one will say one of three things either Digital-In, Microphone, or Mirophone FP. At the top of the?slider there is a tab which brings up a drop down menu. Mine was default set to Digital-In, I switched it to Mirophone FP (tried Microphone first and it worked but the FP sounds better for me) and cranked it all the way up and my problem was solved. Very frustrating one though as there is no documentation that led me to the fix it was just playing around with it till I could figure it out.
I hope this at least helps some of you out.

    Hi,
The functionality of the mute button is provided by the IDT Audio software so the problem may be that Windows 8 has installed a reference driver that does not contain this.  Often, the Windows 7 version works Ok, so I'd try downloading and installing the following IDT driver.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48501-49000/sp48830.exe
After the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

I know there are a lot of post over this issue, but nothing is working for me.  i have a Pavilion dm4-1160us Entertainment Notebook running windows 7 64 bit.  I've uninstalled both the graphics and chip drivers and reinstalled (warning said the ones i was installing were older ver. than the one I had).  maybe I'm not finding the right drivers to install. There is no HDMI audio device listed on the computer. Audo devices that are listed are: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC for speakers and headphones.

    Hi,
    My suggestion:
Go to this site to download the required driver.
    Totally uninstall the Audio driver.
Install driver from the downloaded file.
Turn off the TV and laptop.
    Connect HDMI cable.
    Turn ON the TV first.
    Turn ON the laptop.
    Regards
ps Many users have to do few tries and it turns ụp

  • No sound from speakers or headphones on my hp pavilion dv6-6c50us

no sound from speakers or headphones on my hp pavilion dv6-6c50us.  Speakers are not muted and volume is up.  May have happened after a system update

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the relevant IDT Audio installer on the links below and save it to your Downloads folder.
IDT Audio Installer - Windows 7.
IDT Audio Installer - Windows 8.
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
