Speakers on monitor do not work with Win 8.1

Yesterday I upgraded from Win X - SP 3 (discontinued by Microsoft)  to Win 8.1.  I spent the entire day with a Microsoft technition on-line to figure out how all this works.  One thing he could not get to work was the speakers on my monitor (HP vs 19c). He took over control of my computer to work out the various issues.   I know he went to Realtec to try to find a driver for the speakers but without luck.  The speakers worked before, why don't they work with Win 8.1.  The monitor works fine.  Unfortunately without sound I cannot go through the tutorials to learn more about how to use Win 8.1.
This question was solved.

Thank you so very much.  I installed the driver for Win 8.1 but that apparently was not the problem.  Please forgive me for being so dense.  On control panel I kept seeing the problem  as not having the speakers plugged in.  The other day I unplugged to wire going to the computer and re-plugged it, but that did not work.  This morning I unplugged the speaker wire  from both ends - the computer as well as the monitor and replugged it.  Surprise, I now have audio!!
What a relief as now I can go through the tutorials and learn how Win 8.1 works though I have already learned a lot by hit or miss.

My HP officejet 6110 works fine with two Win XP 32bit systems.  The HP officejet 6110 will not scan with Win 7 pro 64bit system. Tried on three Win 7 system.  The scan starts but just hangs (Scanner software shows it is running in Windows task manager). Also tryed HP Print and Scan Doctor. Doctor keeps blicking the blue arrow pointing to the "Driver check".  Looks like the older 6110  USB is not  communicating with  the Win 7 driver.  HP said to use Win 7 driver but looks like we need a HP driver

  • HP 2311C USB Monitor will not work with Windows 8.1

Just done a clean install of Windows 8.1 on my HP Spectre XT Pro.
The HP2311C monitor is working fine as a USB hub and the built-in Network card but will not detect the monitor as a USB monitor.
This was working when it was a Windows 8 build and previous Windows 7 build.
I have downloaded and installed all the HP drivers and run the HP Support Assistant to make sure everything is up to date.
My two other collegues who have done the same upgrade with the same kit and are also having the problem.
If we plug the HP2311C into a Windows 8 or Windows 7 machine the USB monitor works fine.
Tried several reboots, connections and uninstalls, which have not worked. Also there are no event logs to suggest an anwser.

I am having the same problem with my SPECTRE PRO 13 and Windows 8.1 - most unhappy about it. There is no 8.1 driver for the L2311c and I get no help out of HP as to when there might be one . These items are not cheap in NZ and I feel I have wasted my $$. It works fine on XP!

  • Satellite P105 mat****a dvd drive does not work with Win 7

    Greetings,
I need an upgrade on my dvd for my vintage Satellite P105.
I want the fastest dvd burner possible at this time because I am a movie fan and keep them in digital storage.
    1) First should I go get an external drive or can I get top performance with an internal dvd replacement from a parts dealer or Toshiba?
The problem is when I upgraded to windows 7 things changed. I lost my sound but solved that by using a legacy driver for Visa as apparently the sound "board" on the laptop is made for only Vista. Next I found the dvd drive which is a mitsu****a UJ-450s internal does not work or is extremely slow in backing up movies from discs or files. The available burner software also seems intended for Vista as performance was acceptable then. Even the dvd burner software does not work.
    2) So, my question to the mavens of multimedia is: What should be my next move?
    3) Should I go external and face the USB bottle neck or
    4) go for the bus speed on the internal dvd?
    5) Given that an internal dvd is better as it is exactly a dvd-ram/IDE as it currently is, or some other bus configuration.
    6) Most importantly, what dvd burner would give me 18x speed with current software like ConvertXtoDVD and fit as an external or -- better -- as an internal dvd replacement or my slow drive currently?
Of course, if you could give me a model number and direct me to sales it would be much appreciated.
    Thank you all in advance.

    1) First should I go get an external drive or can I get top performance with an internal dvd replacement from a parts dealer or Toshiba?
You should know that not all internal ODD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ODD?>>>>>>>>>> devices are compatible. You will need to use an compatible and supported ne and such device could be ordered from an local ASP.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ASP?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>
But its more expensive as an external CD/DVD device therefore you could also choose an external one which would be compatible with all possible notebooks and computers.
    Makes sense
    2) So, my question to the mavens of multimedia is: What should be my next move?
As mentioned. Good option would be to buy an external ODD burner>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Okay>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    3) Should I go external and face the USB bottle neck or
External device are compatible with all computers and are cheaper>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>yes, but isn't the data thru put slower with an external via USB or should I get firewire?>>>>>>>>>>>
    4) go for the bus speed on the internal dvd?
If you have the money for an internal device and want to use it only with P105 then you can choose also an internal burner.>>>>>>>>>>>>they are $96 here at toshiba site>>>>>>>>>>>>
    e
    5) Given that an internal dvd is better as it is exactly a dvd-ram/IDE as it currently is, or some other bus configuration.
As far as I know its an IDE interface but the device would support master or slave or c-sel>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>what is c-sel????>>>>>>>>>>>>> settings. As mentioned, you have to buy an Toshiba recommended one.>>>>>>>>>>>>>the one sold here would be recommended, would they not?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    6) Most importantly, what dvd burner would give me 18x speed with current software like ConvertXtoDVD and fit as an external or -- better -- as an internal dvd replacement or my slow drive currently?
Look point 5)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>so you agree that a bus connection is superior to a USB then?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • DVD drive not working with win 8.1

Hi. I have HP pavilion 15-e020TU notebook. My DVD drive worked with windows 7 and windows 8. After upgrading to windows 8.1 , the DVD drive is not working. Windows device manager can find the DVD drive but shows a yellow error mark. I selected "Update driver software" and then "Search automatically for updated driver software" . Then the name changed from "Mitsumi CD drive" to "hp DVD A DU8A5SH". And still not working. I installed the firmware update from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv481en&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jum... But a command prompt shows "Error: no mitsumi drives found." What can I do now ?

  • Samsung LED Monitor TA950 not working with Macbook pro

I bought a Samsung TA950 Full HD LED 3D 27 inch monitor and trying to connect my MBP (early-mid 2009, does not support, MiniPort Audio). Connecting using MDP-DVI to HDMI to connect and MBP detects the monitor, I can see and change Display preferences. The monitor only flashes "no signal" when I disconnect the cables so something is happening...every so often my macbook pro display "flashes" momentarily as if it is recognizing a connection but a)nothing shows up in the display prefs after clicking "detect display" and b) nothing shows up on the external monitor. The monitor did worked and showed the MBP screen when I disconnect the cable, set the MBP display resolution to 1152 by 720, than connect the Miniport cable, the monitors flickers and shows the screen, and after a minute or 2, it goes black and goes in the loop of flickering and trying to detect the monitor

Hi, I got the same monitor the other day and there should be no problem getting it to work.
Use the DP to mini-DP cable supplied with the monitor.
Make sure this cable is plugged into the correct input DP port in the back of the monitor (not the DP port for daisychaining).
Make sure the DP input is selected in the inputs menu on screen.
Plug mini-DP end of the cable into Mac
    Should work ...

  • Mac mini late 2012 not working with small VGA monitor

I got a mac mini (late 2012 10.8.4 all updates installed) and it is working fine with samsung b2230 via VGA adapter. There is a small VGA monitor (PL8006 max at 1024*768) which works fine when connected  to a PC.
When I connect the small VGA monitor to mac mini it is not displaying anything (monitor shows blue screen with letters VGA so I assue it is not getting any signal). Mac's resolution is set to 1024*768 with 60Hz (even tried with 800*600 without any success). Monitor is also not working with win 7 installed in mac mini using bootcamp.
    Any thoughts?

i just found that when the VGA cable of the small monitor is slightly inserted into the VGA adaptor it works fine (this is not usable because there is no way to keep the pins at that level) and when the pins inserted fully / moved little it is not working. Since this happens only between these two devices can't find which one is faulty.

  • My w2207h HP Monitor is not working on my macbook pro with hdmi minidisplayport adapter. On Windows 7 via bootcamp it works. What can i do ?

As is said my HP w2207h monitor is not working with a minidisplayport to hdmi adapter and a hdmi cable which is working fine for my PS3. So the cable is not the problem. And on my TV i also have no problems at all activating a second monitor. Therefore the adapter isnt the problem either. When i plug it in the typical bluescreen appears. Then after a few seconds it appears again and there is no second monitor recognized. I also used the "recognize Monitor" button without success. Please help me, are there any special drivers or something like that ?
PS: bought a high end expensive adapter now because the old one was very cheap. But didnt help. Still stuck on the macbook not recognizing anything !

If you have an external drive you can hook up to the MacBook Pro I believe there *may* be a solution by getting an image to the MacBook Air.
On the MacBook Pro with the Windows install disk in the DVD drive fire up disk utility.  Select the DVD and then hit the "New Image" button.  Disk Utility should offer to create a disk image from the DVD.  I would put that disk image on a USB drive connected to the Pro.  You should be able to mount that image when you connect up to the Air.  Hopefully BootCamp will be able to access that all through the process.
If that doesn't work (the drivers don't recognize the disk image once Windows gets underway for its install), you might try copying the installation files from the DVD to FAT32 formatted USB stick or drive and then using that to install Windows.  I would expect Windows would be able to see the USB FAT32 drive and I don't believe any file on the drive is going to go beyond 4GB.
I haven't actually tried BootCamp on the Air, since I just use VMWare which has no issue installing from anything OSX can see.  But BootCamp is going to eventually hand off operations to Windows and that's going to complicate matters--Windows has to be able to see the drive.  While I believe there are drivers that let Windows connect to that drive, there's no way to authenticate (or even load the drivers I expect) before Windows itself is loaded--so it's a "chicken/egg" problem.

  • Why does Server Monitor not work with non-Xserves?

Does anyone know why Server Monitor does not work with non-Xserve computers? We acquired a Power Mac for a server, based on there being no apparent difference except for the obvious. Turns out there are some differences after all.
Do Power Macs lack some hardware components or is this just a software thing?

God question, unfortunitly I dont have the answer but I would also like to know why the software only works for X-Serve....Is there any 3rd Party Software that is similar to "Server Monitor"?
    Thanks

  • Flash player does not work with Ie or Firefox with win 8.1?

Flash player does not work with Ie or Firefox with win 8.1 64, If i try and play a video I get the message to install Flashplayer.
If I try and install it it says it is already installed. Your onsite  installer says it is not applicable to my machine.
I have followed all the normal steps re enabling addons and active filters etc.
all to no avail Pc is Dell 6 months old, Flashplayer has never worked on this machine. Last MS update mid Dec 2014.
    Version of flashplayer is 15....03.......

Flash Player is a built-in component of Internet Explorer.  There's nothing separate to download or install.
Firefox requires a different version of Flash Player (the NPAPI plug-in), which will be served to you if you go here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer using Firefox; however, there are some unique stability issues related to Firefox on Win8.1, and you're probably better off using Google Chrome if you want a more optimal experience with Flash Player.
For problems where IE isn't being detected by sites that require Flash:
First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:

I cannot reset the SMC by removing the battery, I do not have the confidence to remove my battery, and do not have the time to send the computer to someone else to do it.

  • Upgraded to Firefox 4 and now the program I many alarm dealers use with Rapid Response Monitoring no longer works. RR Tech support said it had something to do with a change in Java not working with Firef 4

Rapid Response Monitoring Center developed a program for their dealers to log on to the main frame and look at customer info. The program now has a disclaimer on the log-on page Does not work with FireFox 4. RR tech support said it had to do with Java functions that were not continued in FF4. I can log on but the program will no longer display customer history or anything that seems to have a data base behind the function tab.
See www.rapidweb2000.com or call 1-800-932-3822 and ask for tech support for additional info about what they have found is the problem.
