Speakers that look very nice with aluminum iMac?

I'm looking to purchase speakers for my iMac and I haven't found any that look great and also get good reviews. I'm willing to spend up to about $200 CDN. I have the aluminum iMac. I will be using the speakers mostly to watch TV/video so I don't need it to achieve great bass and such.
Any ideas?

The Apple Stores sells some nice ones.

Bluetooth shuttted down after I updated to Mavericks, please help me !
I am 70 Years old and worked very happy with my iMac (21,5“ mid 2010, 3,2 GHz Intel Core 3)
until I updated him from  SnowLeopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks 10.9.2.
2 Days all was OK. Next Morning-Start he needs (until now) 3 minutes to show me a SCREEN only milky white. After that he starts like ever with all ICONS in about 1 minute. (together 4 min.)
..But I must notice, that I cannot make anything, because the „BLUETOOTH APPLE WIRELESS KEYBOARD  and the APPLE  MAGIC MOUSE“ doesn't work anything like before.
I could nothing do, I must drop my APPLE only out.
That I maked ever 10x and all was the same... (Maveriks also 4x new updated)
I taked my Logitech-Bluetooth-Mouse from the WIN-Laptop, dropped it in USB from iMAC...and in one second I could work only with this MOUSE...I buyd the Logitech COMBO K520 and all was OK now with my lovely APPLE iMAC to work with him...But without APPLE KEYBOARD and MAGIC MOUSE...and with a 4 min. -START until now.
I  asked the EXPERTS from APPLE-SUPPORT under Tel. 0800-6645451 in Germany, became a Number, maked many Things by starting new, but the mistake after all is the same like before.
When I look into ...Apple/ Info/System/ Hardware/ Bluetooth   ..my APPLE says: NO INFOs FOUND (Es wurden keine Informationen gefunden.)
Under Hardware/ Diagnose : Selbsttest beim Einschalten: zuletzt ausgeführt: 15.05. 14, Ergebnis: Bestanden (that means OK) !!
I asked many Peaple, who sold APPLE-Computers in the STORS, but they all had no IDEA, how they can help.
I think, it could be a DRIVER when Starting the BIOS, JAVA RUNTIME a.s.o...
Is an Expert under YOU to help me by my Problem with this iMAC ?

    dietmarfromdeu,
if you start up your iMac in Safe mode, do you still have Bluetooth problems with your Apple wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse?

  • Help from a Moderator please, possible Solution for Speakers that do not work with X

Hi!?I think i know a way to get the X-Fi to work with the Inspire 5700 Digital. I have no evil intend, but i would like to post a link to a competitiors product.Well actuall the product itself is not competition since i could not find a creative labs equivalent to it. The idea is to replace the Inspire Digitals Control unit with an alternati've Decoder, while keeping your all of you speakers and stands and the subwoofer. This would allow the X-Fi to be used perfectly. Games would run in 5. via an analoge connection, and DVD would run?in 5. Dolby Digital and DTS via an digital connection. That way, even Windows Vista would work perfectly since games would be covered by Alchemy and DVD's would be decoded indipendently from the computer by the decoder box. The price for this Decoder Box with an optical cable and a remote control is 30 ? and it can be found on the website of germanys most popular computer speaker systems manufacturer... I will post a link to a picture that shows the System now, and it would be very nice of the moderators to not remove this link since it actually would help people to decide to buy an X-Fi. Thanks?http://www.teufel.de/images/zubehoer/dec_fin.jpg?While i have not tried it out myself yet, i see no reason why this should not work. If anyone does, please explain why.Message Edited by Force on 06-4-200702:58 PM

    Hi Jerry,
The other way around. If you UNCHECK the Windows Event Log, then the media buttons wouldn't work.  If you then CHECK the box again with the checkmark, then the media buttons worked.  I have two of the m645-s4070's at home from Best Buy, I'm returning one, I tested this on both systems and it's the same result.
I've checked the box again and not unchecked anything in Msconfig - services.  I thought i read somewhere that it wasn't necessary for that to run.  I guess I shouldn't mess around with those.
Anyway, it would be very interesting to know what the correlation between the Windows Event Log and the media buttons were.  I read some people were having trouble starting their wireless too since it seems the only way to do that is through those buttons above the function keys.  Perhaps they did the same thing by unchecking the Windows Event Log...

  • HT4757 I have a canon power shot G6 that no longer works with my iMac??? Please help

Up until 2 months ago my Canon Power Shot G6 has always worked with my IMac.  However, my system no longer recognizes the camera upon connecting via usb. Why?
    What should I do?

Oh my God thank you so much. I spent the last week trying to figure this **** thing out and that's all it took. Sometimes the most simple explanation is all that's required but last looked at. Thank you for pointing out the obvious. I kinda wish Linksys would've pointed that out to me when I exchanged a total of 25 e-mails with them. Oh well. Thank you again. I am so grateful.

  • I want speakers that do not buzz with the iPhone near them.

Has anyone found any good speakers for their computer system that do not buzz when their iPhone (or any other GSM phone) is around them?
I have some old Altec Lansing speakers on my computer and my wife's computer and they go crazy whenever she or I are on one of our phones and anywhere near the computers.
Anyone have any good suggestions for a new pair of speakers?
    Thanks
    MacBook Pro 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

It might not be the speakers that are the problem. I think that the wire that goes from the computer to the speaker also contributes.
As an example, I have a headset for my work phone. It has a long cable from the phone to the headset. When my iPhone is near the cable and I'm on the phone, I hear the interference. If I move the phone away, the interference goes away. It has more to do with the position of the iPhone relative to the cable than to the speaker on my ear.
Another example is when I've used a wireless microphone when speaking to an audience. If my phone is in my pocket and I'm speaking, the proximity of the phone to the wire connecting the microphone to the transmitter causes the interference. I simply have to move the phone away from the wire.
Effectively, I think the wires/cables that connect speakers to the computer are acting as an antenna that is picking up the interference. So you might get the best shielded speakers, but you also have to do something about the wire as well. This might explain why when you went to the computer store, there wasn't much of a problem, because the wires connecting computers to the different speakers may have been short.

  • Found an alternative to skype that looks VERY Promising!

So Ive been looking for an alternative to skype, since its hogging to many system resources.
The Program I found is called "tox" its still in alpha so it doesnt do everything that skype does as of right now, *Screenshare doesnt seem to be a thing* Also not sure about group Video calls.
However It does Voice Calls with ALOT less bandwith and cpu usage, It encrypts everything thats sent and recieved. The only thing I found a little confusing was adding friends *apparently you need to relaunch it at least once after installing it*
Currently This looks Like a perfect Alternative to Skype. Im going to convince my 200 friends on skype to switch over to it. My Suggestion would be use Skype when you want to do large video calls. Or screensharing. And use Tox for everything that its currently capable of doing. *You can get a program like Sparkocam to do screensharing Which is what im going to be doing*
I will Forever Ditch Skype. I invite Everyone to join me, in Saying NO to microsoft that we wont take this load of BS they trying to shove up where the sun dont shine.  Maybe they will Fix this thing called skype. This is what Microsoft seems very good at doing. They make crap, Expect everyone to use it. But then an alternative comes out and everyone IMMEDIatly Ditches the microsoft version. *Points to Internet Explorer* As soon as we had an alternative that was as good we all switched did we not?
Only thing Microsoft is good for Is They're Operating systems. Which hopefully they wont screw up.
Good luck to everyone Leaving skype!

can I call landlines with this other program? I want to leave Skype because they share everything, encryption wise with the NSA You can't place calls to landlines with Tox.  If you're looking for encrypted phone calls using standard phonelines and phones you aren't going to find it since the remote end receiving the call would have to have hardware/software to unencrypt the encrypted audio stream.  Picking up the phone with that would be equivalent to you picking up a fax line trying to understand it.

Currently it uses more voice bandwith but when manual quality options comes then it will take less bandwith. With Tox at least no one controls my account and admins cannot ban accounts too because Tox is not using any central servers.
Tox are very small too(utox) and consumes ultra low memory.

  • My IMac has stopped seeing the keyboard. I have changed the batteries and the green light comes on saying it is looking to pair with the IMac but without success. I am left with the IMac switched on and I am unable to enter a password.

I have been using my IMac without a problem when I left it and went back to enter the password the IMac did not see the keyboard. I have changed the batteries and the green light comes up on the keyboard and then starts to flash indicating it is looking for the IMac but nothing happens. I have tried another set of new batteries with the same result. Is there any known problems in this area. The IMac is 5 months old.
    Thank you for any help

What operating system does your iMac have? (please always post your operating system to prevent confustion).
If it's pre-Lion you will have to set Mail up manually:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Tiger

  • I need someone that is very good with computers and thinks they can help me

im having alot of trouble with my i touch.. i have an xp computer UBS 2.. my itunes works.. the first time i opened my i touch it was completly dead. i charged it until it was completly charged, and now there is a screen that has a picture of the connecting cord, and the itunes logo. i cant go to the homepage, i cant play music, i cant do anything. I cant go to any screen . The only other screen that ive been to is the screen that says Slide to power off... ive reset it a few times, and now i dont know what to do.. please please please help

First make sure you have the most recent iTunes software. It's currently at 7.5. You can find your version by selecting "About iTunes" from the "Help" menu. If you have an older version of iTunes then go to http://www.apple.com/itunes and get the latest.
Then start iTunes. You shouldn't need for it to be running in order to sync, but go ahead and start it first just to eliminate one potential source of problems. (Note that you can configure iTunes to not automatically start when you plug in an iPod, so maybe that accenditally got turned on somehow).
Then plug in your iPod to the computer. Listen for the Windows audio feedback that let's you know a device has been connected (of course you need to have your computer's speakers un-muted for that:-) If you don't hear anything, then for some reason the computer isn't recognizing the iPod at all. Another way to see if Windows sees the iPod (different from listening for it), is to double-click "My Computer" to get an Explorer window. Then when you plug in the iPod you should see something for it show up (it shows "Mobile Device" on my XP laptop). If this isn't working for you then maybe try a different USB port, different computer, or different cable.
If the computer recognizes the iPod, you should soon seen iTunes add an entry for the iPod in the left bar under "DEVICES". If that doesn't happen, then, umm, I'm not sure what would cause that.
If you get the iPod to appear in itunes, then select it (just click the entry under "DEVICES". I don't remember exactly what happens next, but it should be something about registering your iPod. That will not only register it, but also activate it and install the latest firmware on your iPod.
I hope that helps. If it doesn't, then it would help if you post back here telling what part of this process fails for you, so that people can help you troubleshoot the problem.

  • Student using a program that looked like notebook with tabs

I was in a lecture today and saw someone in front of me with their lovely Macbook Pro opened out and they had on the screen a notebook style looking document open and they were writing their notes on it. The graphics made it look like an actual notepad and on the right hand side it had what looked like tabs that would hyperlink the person to each section they wanted to refer to. I looked through Pages and Keynote templates but haven't found anything like this. It seems like a great way to keep track of and organise notes.
The closest thing I have found is the 'Notebook' template on Keynote, but the coils of the notepad are across the top. I'd really like to know if anyone has their own similar system of note taking done like this or if anyone knows what program this person was using!
    Thanks in advance.

Someone found a template on iWork Community with lined paper. You can find details in this topic.

  • Movie looks very grainy with diluted colour on tv

    Hi everyone,
I just burnt my first movie to dvd last night and with excitement put in into my dvd player and hit play. Thankfully everything worked fine but the picture was surprisingly very grainy and lacked colour. I turned the tv colour up to 100% and that fixed it a little but it's still lacking. Is there anything I can do about either?
    Many thanks,
    Jeremy

Well, I just used the menu in iPhoto5 that says "Export to iDVD" after I had setup my slideshow, so I expected it to be compatible. But I have not as yet tried to use iDVD with other apps. Not even to export my .AVI movies from my digital camera.
But previously, I had used Powerpoint to make a slideshow, and this offers the possibility of turning the slideshow into a film, and there also, the film that came out was very considerably grainy, to the extent of not being acceptable to watch.
So maybe it's a general drawback of the system that makes all still photos grainy when you turn the slideshows into films?

  • The choice of headphone jack is not showing up under the system preferences - sound output options.  Therefor, my speakers suddenly do not work with my iMac

On my Intel based iMac, OS 10.6.8, my speakers suddenly were not transmitting sound. When I checked the System Preferences, Sound output, the headphone option was no longer available.  This has always worked in the past - what is up?
    Anyone have any suggestions???

    Applications > Utilities > AudioMIDI Setup.app
    Audio Devices window
    Side Bar
    Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so uncheck it.
Plug in the headphone and check whether in the output  headphone shows up in the same panel.
If so, you can adjust the volume there.

    I usually get 1 or 2 fax's per month.

  • Dagi stylus review - works VERY WELL with S10-3t

For those of you interested, I got my Dagi stylus today ordered via ebay for $12 shipped.
It looks very nice, feels good in the hand and is lightweight.  The tip is thin and flexible and looks a bit fragile, but seems to be glued on pretty strong.
I tested this with regular touch points, drawing and writing.  It worked great for each.  The dot in the center of the tip makes for a very accurate touch point.  I calibrated the system using it and it was a little tough because some of the points are on the VERY edge of the screen.  The 2s10-3t has a gap between the screen plastic and the actual screen and the stylus actually slides underneath to hit the points.  After calibration, this isn't an issue.
So, it is way more accurate than the pogo and also less of a risk to scratch the screen.  It flows well so I can use cursive and fine for printing also.  I strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a stylus solution...it is so far the best I've seen.  This thing also works on the iPhone for those wanting dual-purpose.  I'll try to post a video of performance soon.
    Dave

    Hello,
Your description sounds very similar to what I have.  Mine did come in a box with DAGi on it, via eBay.
The shaft of the pen is light aluminum I think.  There is a section near the tip that is silver and to me feels like plastic.
The tip is a small flexible circle about 1/2 the diameter of a penny...maybe a little bigger than a pencil eraser.  It is VERY flexible and appears to be attached to the silver part of the pen with glue.
In the center of the plastic circle is a small red/orange dot.  This dot is the actual touch poing on the pen, nothing else.  I can tell you that I have NO trouble at all getting the pen to respond on my tablet.  I recommend keeping the entire surface in contact with the screen though to keep your movements consistent.
If you aren't getting any sensitivity at all, perhaps it is a fake, or even broken.  My feeling is that the main shaft of the pen being metal sends signal down thru the silver part and onto the dot.  I couldn't begin to understand the science of this however.  My friend also ordered one of these for his iPhone and his came in a box.  His is black, mine came in a redish/purple  color.
I hope that helps you solve the mystery...
    Dave
