Special character "French character" in sharepoint folder

I can not visualize files that are inside a sharepoint folder with a special character named "Février"
Even when I do a preview from sharepoint designer the file does not appear.
I searched  and I am sure its possible to use é in folder name because this character does not belong
to forbidden character.
Could anybody help me please ?

    Hello to everybody
    It's ok for the ~ " # % & * : < > ? / \ { | } characters, they cannot be allowed,
    but in a lot of languages there are letters like  è é à ù ò that are accepted for path and/or filename;
    how to allow these characters? Moss indexes them but when doing some searches and clicking on these files, in the new internet explorer windows the file cannot be opened abd examining the url the è é à ù ò are replaced with other character.
    Thanks in advance to everybody

    Hi DK,
    I'm not sure about special chars such as ":" but ifyou need to have your folders displaying special language chars (like german chars), have a look into the below link.

  • Special character in XML causing the file to hit worng folder.

    I am facing program, while sending a data to a repository using SOAP XML. The file path which is needed has a special character and this is not getting identified at the target.
    here is the brief descriptio.
    1) We generate the PDF using the XML report in ERP.
    2) Using the same data, we generate SOAP XML file and send to a respoitory.
    3) Here using this SOAP XML, the PDF is generated and stored in a location which is sent in the file.
    we are sending the target path as "PO's from Customer" as below:
    '&lt;target_folder_path&gt;'||'/Documents/'||TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'YYYY')||'/PO's from Customer'||'&lt;/target_folder_path&gt;';
    The path needed is '/Documents/2012/PO's from Customer' , but due the apostrophe, the file is hit /adadmin path.
    I have tried replcaing the special character by &apos; , but still no luck. If i remove the special characters, then the file is hitting correct path.
    But the requirement is to have '/Documents/2012/PO's from Customer' .
    Is there is a way this can be achived. Please advice.

    Is it as simple as using two single quotes between PO and s?
    '/PO''s from Customer'I can't tell from what you wrote how you are generating the value in the first place so if not correct provide more details related to whatever builds the path.

  • SharePoint key word query, how does the "Query Text" query special character in a query variable?

    I have a no code sandbox solution, in a content by search web part, I want to return pages from the library except the page I am visiting.
    I have 2 pages:
    Page A, the title is: Page title without special character
    Page B, the title is: Page title with special character "a b c d ..."
    And then I use Title<>{Page.Title} in the query text of the CSWP.
    While I visit Page A, the CSWP returns Page B, it works as expected.
    But while I visit Page B, the CSWP returns nothing, expected result should be Page A. I just consider, whether the special characters in the Title of Page B breaks the query text.
    I can not find similar topics in the forum, Does anyone have idea?
    Many thanks!

    Thank you for your feedback, Daniel.
    I have some updates, and found the root cause: if the field value contains special characters, the CSWP will not render the double quotation marks around the field value.
    View the page html source, and then find the text "QueryModification", you will see what happen:
    Query Text Input: Title<>{Page.Title}
    1. While the page title is "Test Page 1" (without special character), the rendered query text is
    Title<>\"Test Page 1\". It works as expected.
    2. While the page title is "Test-Page-1" (with special character "-", of cause we have more special characters on production), the rendered query text is
    Title<>Test-Page-1.  The double quotation marks are not rendered by the CSWP, so the query text are broken. It does not work as expected.
    If I make the query text as Title<>"{Page.Title}"
    1. While the page title is "Test Page 1", the rendered query text is
    Title<>\"\"Test Page 1\"\". It does NOT work since the
    quotes are duplicated (no sure why CSWP duplicates the quota mark),
    2. While the page title is "Test-Page-1", the rendered query text is
    Title<>\"Test-Page-1\".  Quotes are correct, but it does NOT work as expected still.
    The expected rendered query text (view from the html source) should be
    Title<>\"Test\\\-Page\\\-1\". (Here is test url: <a href="http://server/_api/search/query?querytext='Title<>"Test%5c%5c%5c-Page%5c%5c%5c-1"'&rowlimit=10">http://server/_api/search/query?querytext='Title<>"Test%5c%5c%5c-Page%5c%5c%5c-1"'&rowlimit=10)
    From the above information, I can say the CSWP not handle the special character correctly ("\" is not inserted before any special charactor).
    Is there any setting in CSWP can be used to resolve above problem?

  • Special character in interactive report using filter

    Hi,
    I created an interactive report and in this report there is a filter to search any row from specific value linked to a specific column.
    As example this report displays a board with some columns like "SR number", "Status", "Description", ....
    If I use this filter with standard character all works fine :
    - in the filter's list of values I choose "Region" column
    - in the search field I put "SE"
    - click on go and the board is generated with all correct rows.
    If I use this filter with special character (french character in my case), this filter changes this special character and the request doesn't return any row.
    Example :
    - in the filter's list of values I choose "Statut" column
    - in the search field I put "Réception"
    - the filter's expression is modified from "Réception" to "Réception" so no row is returned (filter - Statut contains 'Réception' - no data found)
    I modified the character set used by the apex DAD changing the nls_lang parameter in the wdbsvr.app file from AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 (database character set) to AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8
    But when I check the apex DAD character set after the web server restart (about Application Express in my workspace) I get :
    NLS_CHARACTERSET: WE8ISO8859P1
    DAD CHARACTERSET: ISO-8859-1
    No change.
    I used the Application Express 3.2.0.00.27 with Oracle E-business Suite (11.5.10.2).
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Olivier

    Hi,
    Thank you for your answer.
    But I already installed french language on apex.
    Unfortunately issue occurs yet.
    To install the french language I followed these steps :
    - I set the NLS_LANG to American_America.AL32UTF8
    - sqlplus sys/**** as sysdba
    - ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = APEX_030200;
    - and I executed the load_fr.sql script
    Thank you for your help.

  • Special Character in Subject Field of Discussion Forum

    I am creating a new discussion, in the subject when i enter "Portal Discussion?" then it gives error that special character is not allowed. But i want to use the "?" in the subject at the time of creation.
    After creating the discussion i can edit the same thing with special characters, then why SharePoint is not allowing to enter special character at the time of creation.

    Hi
    Refer this link
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/6e7a7eae-26fc-467f-bfdc-7c5d5ff49a95/discussion-forum-storing-special-character-in-title-differently?forum=sharepointdevelopmentlegacy
    It seems that SharePoint will allow the Title of the discussion board to remain with the special characters, but the actual URL will not be allowed and will strip them from the final URL.  SharePoint Manager easily shows this, btw.
    So, there are probably many different ways to get what you are looking for, but one way could be to have a Linq query look for all Discussion Boards on a given site and then return the Title and the DefaultViewUrl, which the latter could then be prefixed by
    the SPWeb.Url to give you something like "Testing? , /" for the title and http://mysite/Lists/Testing/AllItems.aspx (assuming
    that is the actual default view) which you could then use as the final URL for your hyperlink in your web part.
    In the code snippet below you can see the Linq query (which I assumed from your post that you need to query to find the Discussion Boards) and a simple DataTable that you could then use to populate a repeater or you just omit the DataTable and
    enumerate the results from the query yourself:
    var linqResults
    = from list in oSPWeb.Lists.Cast<SPList>() where list.BaseTemplate
    == SPListTemplateType.DiscussionBoardselect list;
    DataTable oDataTable
    = new DataTable();
    DataColumn oDataColumn_Title
    = new DataColumn("Title", typeof(string));
    oDataTable.Columns.Add(oDataColumn_Title);
    DataColumn oDataColumn_URL
    = new DataColumn("URL", typeof(string));
    oDataTable.Columns.Add(oDataColumn_URL);
    foreach (SPList oSPList in linqResults)
    DataRow oDataRow
    = oDataTable.NewRow();
    oDataRow[
    "Title"]
    = oSPList.Title.ToString();
    oDataRow[
    "URL"]
    = oSPWeb.Url + oSPList.DefaultViewUrl.ToString();
    oDataTable.Rows.Add(oDataRow);
    oDataTable.AcceptChanges();

  • LR 2 - special character in caption field

    I'm using LR 2.6 and a custom template to generate a flash gallery.
    The problem is my language which is Norwegian and contains characters like æøå and these behave strange when creating a web gallery.
    In the library the caption field looks ok, but when exported to web, they make an extra whitespace and that's annoying.
    I've looked into the xml file and can't see any whitespace there, so probably the problem appears when the swf file is created.
    How do I control the output in the caption field when using special characters?
    I've tried to change the encoding in the group.xml file, but it doesn't help. Also tried using entities for the characters such as &#229; and &aring;, it didn't help either.

  • Special Character Issue in Country Name Côte d'Ivoire encoding ISO-88509-1

    soa suite 10.1.3.4
    I am reading an xml file using file adapter. The file has encoding type ISO-88509-1 and the country name is coming as <country_name>Côte d'Ivoire</country_name>.
    When I see the BPEL instance, this character is converted to "C\234te d'Ivoire" jumbled character. The target endpoints receives the country name in jumbled format only. I can't change the incoming file format. Is there a way I can read it properly and keep the special character as it is during SOA process.
    Any idea how can I progress in this issue?

    Any idea on this ? My soa suite server is on Solaris and the folder where I am reading the file from is on Windows.

  • DIS PDF with special Character like cyrillic or chinese

    Hello,
    does anybody know how I can solve my Problem with PDF-Documents with Special Character which are Checked In (Tcode CV02N)
    If I want to open the file again, it will be downloaded to

    File

    So is there any flag to set in the customizing that the downloaded file will be with the correct Name or any note?

  • Special character issue while loading data from SAP HR through VDS

    Hello,
    We have a special character issue, while loading data from SAP HR to IdM, using a VDS and following the standard documentation: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e09fa547-f7c9-2b10-3d9e-da93fd15dca1?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
    French accent like (é,à,è,ù), are correctly loaded but Turkish special ones (like : Ş, İ, ł ) are transformed into u201C#u201D in Idm.
    The question is : does someone know any special setting to do in the VDS or in IdM for special characters to solve this issue??
    Our SAP HR version is ECC6.0 (ABA/BASIS7.0 SP21, SAP_HR6.0 SP54) and we are using a VDS 7.1 SP5 and SAP NW IdM 7.1 SP5 Patch1 on oracle 10.2.
    Thanks

    We are importing directly to the HR staging area, using the transactions/programs "HRLDAP_MAP", "LDAP" and "/RPLDAP_EXTRACT", then we have a job which extract data from the staging area to a CSV file.
    So before the import, the character appears correctly in SAP HR, but by the time it comes through the VDS to the IDM's temporary table, it becomes "#".
    Yes, our data is coming from a Unicode system.
    So, could it be a java parameter to change / add in the VDS??
    Regards.

  • Looking for a name with special character

    Hi Gurus,
    In our HR system we use multiple language (eg: polish, french, german, english, finns, ...).  All those languages have some specific characters, like german with ß.
    When we use the search help to looking for someone, it seems that only people who have the special character on their keyboard can find directly the correct name.
    For example :
    If I use a german keyboard I can found an employe by completed the correct last name wich contain eg ß .
    if I don t use a german keyboard I have to put a * where the specific characters is.
    I would like to know if somehow it were possible to customize the system in order to do not need to enter a * but the correspondant singular letter.  Is there any function for converting a special character to a singular one to activated ?
    Thank you for all your help
    Best regards
    Hadrien

    indexOf() is used to find where a character or substring appears in a
    given string. What you probably need is charAt() which finds out which
    character is at a given position. Like this:private JTextField reportNameText;
    // something needs to be put in the text field here
    String reportName = reportNameText.getText();
    if(reportName.charAt(0) == ' ') {
            // printing a space isn't a lot of good...
        //System.out.println("first character is"+reportName.indexOf(0));
        System.out.println("first character is a space");
        JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"Report Name should not start with Space", "", JOptionPane.PLAIN_MESSAGE);
    }An even better condition might beif(Character.isWhitespace(reportName.charAt(0))) {This checks for other sorts of space.
    The String methods are described here:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/String.html

  • How do I find file names containing special character

    hi all
    I need your help with a code that deals with finding file names containing special characters like * / \ : ? " |
    the reason is I am doing a project that transfer files and folders from Mac to Windows. But names containing above characters cant be moved to windows.
    the part of the code I write is like this
    set illegal_syntax to paragraphs of (do shell script "find " & quoted form of POSIX path of oneFolder & " -name '*'")
    if (illegal_syntax is not equal to {""}) then
    repeat with each_record in illegal_syntax
    do shell script "/usr/bin/ditto -c -k -rsrc --keepParent " & quoted form of each_record & space & quoted form of (each_record & ".zip")
    end repeat
    end if
    First of all that '' will gives me an error.
    Second, what i tried to do is once the file/folder is found, zip it at current location. But the problem is how can I zip it without the special character? or should I just give it a name, like "originalfile.zip";?
    Last, or maybe you have better idea to deal with this situation? BTW, I can not rename or delete the file/folder because customer won't allow me to do it.

    The backslash is used to escape characters in AppleScript, so if you want to use it in a string you need to escape the escape character, for example "\\*".
    You could set the name of the archive by replacing the illegal character with another one, such as an underscore:
    <pre title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor" style="font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: 10px; padding: 5px; border: 1px solid #000000; width: 720px; color: #000000; background-color: #FFDDFF; overflow: auto">set each_record to "some*file*name" -- example
    set {TempTID, AppleScript's text item delimiters} to {AppleScript's text item delimiters, "*"}
    set the ItemList to text items of each_record
    set AppleScript's text item delimiters to "_"
    set each_record to the ItemList as text
    set AppleScript's text item delimiters to TempTID
    log each_record --> some_file_name
    </pre>

  • Error while releasing transport request -  Special character "_" in generic

    Hi all,
    we're receiving the error  Special character "_" in generic key  when releasing a best practice transport.
    Note 1304725 describes my error, but the solution cannot be implemented. The reason for this is that we do not have an individual entry for eacht yb_PS,..,
    but we have only one entry where field BWERT has a wildcard '*' as entry.
    Does anyone has  some idea how to solve this ?
    kind regards !

    Hello Bjorn,
    How did you get this solved?
    I'm having nearly the same issue:
    A custom-table with a total key lenght of about 365 characters. As soon as I enter a special character (_) in the key field just before the position 120, the message tk287 rejects the entry. Entering the special character in a key field at about key position
    60, there's no message rejecting the entry.
