Special characters in Instant Portal

Hi,
when I put any special character, for example: "João", I get: "João".
If I put:"Jo & a t i l ; o" in HTML editor, first it changes it to "João" and then, again, to "João".
Any ideas?

Hi João,
Maybe... what is you IE browser encoding while seeing the Portal page? Western European (ISO)? What if you change it to UTF-8?
I hope it helps...
Cheers,
Pedro.

  • Problem with special characters getting converted into '#'  in portal

    Hi All,
The special characters like " - ", " ' ", " ` ",  are getting converted into '#' when the smartform is displayed in portal.
I have a smart form in which the text contains the above special characters and they are getting displayed as  ' # ', when the form is invoked in portal. We are not able to trace the problem.
I need your input on this ASAP.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sowmya

This could be caused by conversion routine on the field.
in sapscript, can use &FIELD-NAME(K)& to ignore conversion routine
To see this and other options, in text edit of script select menu option Insert>Symbols>New  and then type field name and select desired check box options - field will be placed in script with relevant formatting characters

  • OID/Portal - Restrict Special Characters to be used in Password

    Hi,
Does anyone know how I can restrict the use of special characters ($, &, £...etc) in the OID password? I cannot see an attribute to achive this? orclpwdIllegalValues will stop certain words, but I just want to restrict the use of any of the special characters in any password. All suggestions or information would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Requires custom plugin (using PL/SQL) to add password value checking to OID password policy management capabilities. A description and example code for this is available in chapter 27 of the Oracle® Internet Directory Administrator's Guide, 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) entitled "Oracle Internet Directory Plug-In for Password Policies" available at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/idmanage.1012/b14082/plugin_pwdpolicies.htm#i122359

  • How to convert special characters in ABAP to XML?

    Hi All.
We have a scenario where from XI (exchange Infrastructure), a BAPI is called which returns an XML. From that XML, a PDF is generated.
Now, if the XML contains any special characters, it will fail.
So if any CHinese char or >, # etc signs are there, it fails.
Can you please tell me how to convert my string in ABAP to a proper XML?
I am new to it and I was trying the following code
    DATA: today TYPE string,
          result TYPE string.
    today = 'This is testing'.
    CALL TRANSFORMATION ID
         SOURCE today = today
         RESULT XML result.
    IF sy-subrc = 0.
      WRITE result.
    ENDIF.

  • Special characters in XI

    Hi,
Does anybody have the list of characters not supported by XI? I am using XI 7.0
I am specifically looking for Special Characters which come in the payload and are seen in SXMB_MONI.
    Thanks

    Hi,
XI supports Unicode compatibility also so I don't think there will be any list but go through below link to deal with some special characters in PI 7.0

  • Special characters in Discoverer

    Hi everybody,
I would like to use special characters in reports such as arrow (U2192, Arial font.). It's fine in Discoverer, but after publishing to AS portal it doesn't work.
Thanks for any ideas how to solve this issue.

    Hi,
Firstly, Desktop 4.1.37 is not a good version. You should upgrade to Desktop 4.1.48.
You should check the regional and language settings in the control panel. It will need to be changed to display different characters sets.

  • Special Characters in KM Names

    Hello Experts,

    Wow, this is misleading.
The confusion starts with saying "special", and then not define it...
The KM UI uses display names, but this doesn't affect what you can or can't put into an identifier (the RID for resources, or the property name for properties).
What RIDs can take depends on the repository manager. In the best case, it roughly allows everything that would be allowed in a Windows filename. In particular, some rules depend on position as well, such as no trailing whitespace.
Property names by definition use the same rules as XML element names (thus no whitespace at all).

  • Special Characters in the payload

    Hi,
We are receiving Payload from Source Service Provider with some special characters “ and as shown below:
“Maintenance Documentation      Libraryâ€? under “Transformer Bushings Surveyâ€?
Those Special Characters are actually double quotes.
“Maintenance Documentation      Library” under “Transformer Bushings Survey” .
PI While reading the payload is taking it as a special character. JMS is the sender adapter we are using.
Is there any way to handle this without writing any module or Java Mapping??
    Regards
    Srilatha

    Hi Srilatha,
You can try to change the character encoding with the standard modules like this document point out: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/502991a2-45d9-2910-d99f-8aba5d79fb42?overridelayout=t…
From my own experience it is more useful to have a general java mapping to avoid this problem and to use it in all the required scenarios-

  • Adding users with special characters results in error

    Hi all,
I know it is not best practice to implement a Active Directory with user names containing special characters.
Unfortunately, we come across some sites that do have these special characters in their user names.
So, maybe it is a reason to tell the customer to reevaluate their naming policy, but in some cases this is
just not possible / desirable. What we see when you try to add a user in the Sun VDI portal (1801) with
a special character in his or her name, the VDI Portal goes back to the main login screen of the portal and
    displays an error:
    Internal Error Occurred!
You have been logged out because a consistent response could not be guaranteed.
If the error continues to occur, contact your local technical support and provide .....
Does anyone know a workaround / fix for this.
We are running Sun VDI 3.1 Revenue Release.
    Kind regards,
    Sander

Open a support call with Sun there is a fix for this issue.

  • Dtterm and xterm - problems with special characters

I run SGD 4.2 on a Solaris 8 box with 50 users globally. This installation replaces a 3.42 installation. Clients are all Solaris 8.
Currently my most nagging problem is that I have "special characters" (at least on a german keyboard layout). @, , `, ' are not working in xterm or dtterm, while they did on 3.42.
As we have users connecting from all over the world, I have no idea how to fix this, so every user has "his/her own" keyboard setup.
So far I tried with and without "Lock keymap" in Object Manager | Attributes | Advanced
and "Use LANG variable" vs. "Use client's input locale" in Array Manager | X Protocol Engine | Keyboard Map.
I'm quite new new to SDG and look for an Amin training currently, but this is too urgent to wait for this. Anyone an idea, please?

    Hi,
Did you get an answer after 3 years?? :-)
Whe do have the same problem.
    SUSE 10.1 sp1
    SSGD portal.
Only when we connect thru de portal whe have this problem.
When we connect straight to a terminal server and we open Winword than it ok, but when we open thru the terminal server de portal and logon to it, than then keyboard setting is changed.
    Any help??

  • Need to remove special characters

    Hello All
Some input is comming from source field, if any special characters comming from source field, I need remove special characters and send data source to target field. please suggest me how will i do .
    Thanks&Regards,
    Venkat

    Hi Venkat,
    check this thread.
    Handling Special Characters
    check the document :
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/502991a2-45d9-2910-d99f-8aba5d79fb42
Depends upon encoding methods handling will differ,
you can use ISO-8859-1 or ISO-8859-2 instead of UTF-8 for some special characters.

  • Reports with output to excel - special characters not displayed correctly.

    Hi,
I have a portal with data from 5 continents. In many places special or national characters are used in names. My portal can show most of these characters correctly and so can my version of Microsoft Office Excel. When text with these characters are copy/pasted from the screen to an excel sheet, they are also shown correctly in excel. The problem arises in portal reports, where output is set to Excel, then special characters are often displayed as strange double characters, for example á is shown as á . Does anybody have a solution to that?
    Thanks
    Arne

No answers have been posted yet and now I have found a solution myself. The portal report is run and output set to Excel. The resulting file is opened, and a new row is inserted in the top of the sheet. In the first field in this row is written the characters *\xEF\xBB\xBF*. It is called a UTF-8 BOM, and when written in the start of a text file, it will tell the program that opens it, that UTF-8 encoding is used.<br><br>
The file is saved with the file type CSV (semicolon separated) (*.csv) and excel is closed. When you click on the CSV-file, it is opened by excel, and now all characters with accents, circumflexes and umlauts are shown correctly.<br><br>
The solution was found here: http://www.roosmaa.net/importing-utf-8-csvs-in-excel/

  • Problems displaying french special characters

    Hello,
we are developing a multi-lingual WebDynpro application. The languages are set correct and the translation for all parts (portal, xls-files) works fine. Except the correct displaying of WebDynproResourceBundle-files.
    Example:
We use the french property file with the content:
    Enl\u00c3\u00a8vement
When calling this value, it displays:
    Enlèvement
    instead of
    Enlèvement
I already tried to set the jvm system parameter for encoding to latin1 and latin2. But this didn't help.
Does anybody know, what parameter I have to set to have this french special signs displayed the right way?
    Thank you in advance.
    Matthias

    Yes, I use UTF-8. I think this is the default-value, isn't it?
They are displayed wrongly, when executing the WebDynpro application. Inside the NWDS editor the display is like that:
    example:
    editor:               language:  browser:     correct
    gel\u00f6
    scht de gelö
    scht ok
    Enl\u00c3\u00a8
    vement fr Enlè
    vement no!
As you can see, it works fine for german special characters, but not for french, czech and some other languages.
    Thank you
