Special characters palate present on log-in

After my MacBook has been asleep and I log in (I have it set to ask for a password on wake/screensaver exit) I always see the "special Characters" palate. I can close the palate but from then on any time the system asks me for a password it pops up again. If I close it before entering my password (i.e. before the log-in prompt goes away) I don't have the problem again until the computer has been asleep (if it just goes to the screen saver the special characters palate doesn't come back on log-in).
Very weird problem - any suggestions?

It sounds like special characters is in your login items. Launch System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items and choose it, then use the plus minus to delete it.

  • Yosemite doesn't recognize special characters in password when logging in

    Hi everyone,
I installed Yosemite yesterday on my mid-2011 MBA and discovered that after restarting it, I was unable to log into it. First, I'd like to precise that I'm using a French keyboard, it could have an importance afterwards.
The password I use for my account is quite complex and uses a special character. Until now, it worked perfectly, but I discovered that, on Yosemite, I have to type twice the special character and the one after, in order to get it worked. Otherwise, it acts like if I haven't typed these two.
Also, this behavior is kind of weird because if I log out, I don't have the issue: it works perfectly. So the issue is just after a shut down/restart.
The only way I could restart the first time was by using the tool made from Apple when you loose your password (pressing the power button until it shuts down). Once my laptop entered that mode, I could just type my current password and choose a new one. But still, I don't get why it works on every screen, except the one after a shut down/restart.
I hope Apple could bring a quick fix for that because it's really annoying. Also, if someone gets the same issue, try to type twice the special character(s) and maybe the one(s) that is/are just after.
    Bye.

A password is classified as an oracle identifier and must conform to the rules for indentifiers. To include special characters you need to enclose it in double quotes e.g. "vos1s05!"

  • Special Characters not presenting properly

All of a sudden my (not so) Special Characters are not being rendered properly.  Much of the website is in German, hence a lot of umlauts.
With yesterday's upload the umlauts now look like this:
    Zurück, instead of Zurück,
    für, instead of für,
    Schömberg, instead of Schömberg, etc.
    Ignore the Link highlighting.

  • PDS - XML format, unable to read special characters in a string.

    Hi All,
I've been using XML files to create my report with Oracle9i's new featue of PDS.
Now, I'm unable to read a file if it contains '&' or '<' in the string. In fact, the xml file itself not able to crate a xml page in the browser, if these special characters are present.
Is there any way to solve this problem ?
I can't tell the users to remove &, < from the description data. Is there any way to workaround for this ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Satya.

    Hi Rohit and Rajesh
    Thanks for your reply.
In fact, my problem is like this:
I'll get data in .txt file and save that as a .xml file in the network before calling Oracle report ,which gets data from the .xml.
    The contents are like this:
    <Comapy name> Ford Motors UK & Europe</Company name>
    <Department> HR & Pensions</Depatrment>
    <Salary>Grad4 < 25000 </Salary>
As per XML entity character representation, I need to replace '&' with '&amp;' and '<' with '<lt;'
I'm wondering is there any other way to solve this problem as it is difficult to replace '<' and '>' generically.
Honestly, I couldn't understand what Mr. Rajesh was trying to tell.
'for & use & ( with semicolon at the end)'
    'for < use <'
    'for > use >'
Can you shed some light on this ?
    Many thanks
    Satya.

  • Special Characters and the Character Palate

I am trying to type a composition for my Italian class. I need to insert a few accent marks. Common sense tells me that I should use the "special characters" option on the edit menu, and a little research explains that a character palate should pop up. However, when I click special characters, nothing happens! What do I do?
    Thank you for your help!

    Jennifer,
Do I understand correctly that you are calling up the Character Palette (using, e.g. Edit/Special Characters...) and nothing happens, i.e. no Palette pops up?
If yes, then Tom Genecke provided this link:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307354
which solved the problem for me right away.
As for international characters, I warmly recommend including the US-Extended Keyboard in your layout (System Preferences/International/Input Menu). This allows you to use shortcuts for characters such as à or ì (Alt-`/~ (top left hand corner of your US keyboard) followed by the letter a or i, respectively), or é, á, or í (Alt-e followed by e,a, or i). And a host of others.
    Good luck on your composition!
    Michael

  • Time-dependent Vendor Master & Handling Special Characters

    Hi,
I need to extract time-dependent Vendor Master.
    1. The data source for <b>0VENDOR</b> does not have fields to hold the valid date range.
    2. Does the Master data in R/3 for Vendors will hold the valid date range?
    3. The text for <b>0VENDOR</b> provides time-dependent, but how to map the <b>valid from</b> and <b>valid to</b> fields?
    Handling Special Characters:
We are trying to extract data from Legacy system via DB Connect. The item text field consists of special characters. Of course in BW customization we can specify all the special characters to consider. But the special character we observed is 'square' symbol i.e. 'new line character' in Oracle. We are updating this to an ODS object. When looked at error log, observed that green light for the number of records transferred and updated, but finally when it load into ODS object and activates popping up the error message saying 'could not recognize special character'.
Please help me getting the 2 issues resolved.
    Thanks in advance.

This issue is observed only while running the code in server, not from Jdev.
When we append the additional tags without new line character, "\n", there are no extra characters being added. Also, in other case also. where we used "Marshaller" to prepare the XML, we have seen this issue.
After we set the below property to false, we got rid of the extra characters.
                            jaxbMarshaller.setProperty(Marshaller.JAXB_FORMATTED_OUTPUT, false);
Apparently the insertion of new line when the code runs on server(Weblogic 10.3.6.0) is creating the issue.
Please let me know if anyone has come across a similar scenario.
    Thanks,

I am building this XML in a servlet so ,right, DOM does process XML (even though a valid HTML file can be loaded into a DOM object) but if you build XML using DOM then write the XML out using PrintWriter and Transformer objects this will cause the XML to print out in your browser. If you view source on this XML you will see that the DOM object has translated all special characters to there &xxxx; equivalent. For a example: when the string (I know "cool" java) gets loaded into a attribute using the DOM object then wrote back out it looks like (I know &xxx;cool&xxx; java) if you view the source in your browser. This is what it should do, but the DOM object is not change the to the "&xxxxx;". This servlet is acting as a gateway between a Java API and a windows asp. The asp will call the servlet expecting to get XML back and load it directly into a DOM object. When the windows DOM object gets the xml that I am returning in this servlet is throws a exception "invalid character" because the was not translated to &xxxx; like the other characters were. According to the book HTML 4 in 24 hours (and other references) the eacute; or #233; are how you say "" in HTML or XML. How do you say it?

  • Special Characters in the file name in Data Driven Subscription via File Share

  • Cleanup special characters Program taking too much time

    Hi Guys,
We run a program called Z_CLEAN_SPECIAL_CHARS to clean up special characters. Normally, it takes 5-10 mins to execute this program but for some reason it took 3 hours. We killed the program and restarted the process and it took normal time to execute.
Our team wants to investigate why this happened at the first place but not sure how and where to start. Any ideas. The log doesnt give much information.

    Hi ,
Open your program in se38 .Set breakpoints and execute in debug mode .
Check how many data records you are getting for cleanup and which step is taking more time .
May be today you have more no of records to search or to clean up .
This may also be server bandwidth issue as you may have some other jobs also running along with this having higher priority .
If there will be any error you will get dump .
You progarm is a zprogram so it depends on what exactly this program is doing and which tables it is accessing .
One question how you are executing the program  (via process chain or manually)?

We have got SSO setup on our application and have successfully been testing away, until we tried logging in with an account which has a '+' character in the username. We are authenticating and getting an SSO token but the login process then fails with a "User has no profile in this organization" message. This call http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9820513 talks about a workaround that ignores the Profile service which does get us logged in, but in the longer term I need to be able to use this functionality to set conditions per URL policy.
Has anybody come across other probelms with usernames containing special characters? Is there some kind of encoding switch I need to turn on somewhere.
Cheers and TIA for your help.

I am wondering if anyone else has seen this issue. If the file shellstreams.dll (for Photo Streams, it appears) is present on a Windows PC, Excel will occassionally crash when opening up an .xlsx file.  Simply renaming that dll resolves the issue.  T
