Special Characters Report Painter

Hi all,
After SP 2008 implementation on ECC 5.0, special characters as : "( " ; "= "; "+" ; etc... are not recognized for one digit in report painter library.
After analyse, without changing size colums, if the title contain a special character, it is counting for  2 digits instead of one. The report painter doesn't truncate automatically the title and show a blank zone !
Is there an OSS note which correct this problem ?
(Our level of package is SAPKH519)
Thanks for your help !

  • XML Publisher report not printing excel output due to special characters

    Hello,
I am trying to create a xml publisher report which should display the output in excel. But the program completes with a warning status and the output is displayed as XML instead of excel, with some errors "An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource " and i think these errors are due to the special characters(eg: city/province - A Coruña, Cáceres). If i give rownum < 10 in my query, where there are no such characters it works fine and i am getting an excel output.
Tried changing the XML encoding and it doesn't help (both mentioned below)
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Do anyone have a solution for this

  • How to display special characters in APEX Classic Report column

Ref: Thread: How to display newline characters as new lines
    Version: APEX 3.2
    Hi,
I have created an classic SQL Report with one of the columns being a decode that gives a value 'Post'(the value should be highlighted in Red) on one condition and 'Pre' on another. I have followed the advice given in the page (URL provided above) , i.e. I have changed Strip HTML to 'No', changed Display as to 'Display as text (escape special characters, does not save state)'. I have also passed this value back to the same page to be stored in a page item each time a link (another column in report) in report is clicked. I have tried passing it as #DEADLINE# and \#DEADLINE#\. The issue I face is, instead of the value being highlighted in Red, it gets passed back as a string holding the value 'Post'. Is there any way I can get this to display as it should without the Strip HTML being changed to 'Yes'.
    Thanks very much.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your response.
I am trying to display a page item that is derived from a report column based on a click on the URL link (*view >*>)
This page item (here, it is Manager_ID) should ideally be highlighted when a particular condition is satisfied (achieved using a DECODE in the report).
But it is not displayed like it should be.
I do not want the value to be displayed along with the html tags as a string.
I want the html tags to take effect and highlight the value within it.
Initially, I had set Strip HTML to Yes and the value was returned without any highlighting .
So I changed it to 'No' and and it contained the html tags.
I am not sure what setting in APEX Report Attributes can help me achieve that effect I want.None of the report settings are relevant. They affect the rendering of the report and none of the columns you were changing the properties of were actually rendered.
You can't pass HTML and CSS around in URL parameters.
I suggest you pass *2* values in the column link: the MGR ID and a simple class or colour value computed by the DECODE in the report. I've suppressed the first version of the report and created a new one that does this:
decode(dept.deptno, '30', 'c00', '000') highlight The link column now passes the MGR ID and the HIGHLIGHT colour (red when the condition is satisfied and black when it is not).
I created another hidden and protected page item <tt>P0_HIGHLIGHT</tt> as the target for the highlight value, and used the Pre/Post Element Text properties of the <tt>P0_G_MGR</tt> to wrap it in a <tt>span</tt> whose colour is changed using the <tt>P0_HIGHLIGHT</tt> value as a subtitution string:
<span style="color: #&P0_HIGHLIGHT.;">Having done that, I still don't really get the requirement here. I'm sure that given the full picture I'd be using a completely different approach...

  • How to use special characters in Report Builder

    Hi everyone,
I wonder if you guys can help me. I'm trying to change our Invoice hearders from English to Portuguese. Eg, I've changed this English heading
("FOR ACCOUNT QUERIES CONTACT") to this Portuguese heading ("PARA CONSULTAS DE CONTA CONTACTE"). So when I'm done, my entire invoice will be in Portuguese. This works fine, until I get special characters in some of the Portuguese translations. I can copy and paste the translations with special characters into Report Builder. But when I print the invoice in Oracle Apps (with a PDF output), the special characters get replaced with a "?".
    Here's an example:
< "Line No" should read "Linha nº" but it prints out as "Linha n?" > Does anybother know how I can resolve this? I'm using Report Builder: 10.1.2.3.0 on Oracle Apps: 11.5.10.2 and RDBMS : 10.2.0.4.0
    Thank you in advance

    Hi,
You need to have Portuguese font installed on your machine, if you are running the report from your machine or else if you are running the same from report server then the font has to be there on the server font dir.

  • Problems with using special characters in Interactive Report Search

    Hi!
I am currently developing an Application on Application Express 3.1.2.00.02 including a page with an Interactive Report, facing the problem that I cannot use special german characters in the Searchbar.
So if i try to find a name like 'Schröder' the created Filter looks like this 'Schröder' and i won't get any valid search results. By the way the rest of the application supports these special characters like using them in Buttons or any other Page elements.
Does anyone have a clue how to fix this problem, because it's driving me nuts ;)

  • Special Characters in charts with web reports

Hello, we are facing a problem to display special characters in charts on web reports (it comes out badly).
The only sap note found about this problem is note n°1036745, but it is for NW 2004s, but should be solved in NW04s BIJava SP 12, and we are currently with SP 15.
Has anyone faced this problem with BI 7.0?
    Thanks,

    hi Philippe
I did not faced this issue. Nevertheless there is another note dealing with the issue. Note 1088411.
Take into account that your basis should synchronise the level of BI JAVA SP the famous Java Stacks and BI SP (ABAP support package).
You say that you are SP 15 I guess it is ABAP SP as SPS for 15 is not already shipped,
if this is not the case please ask your basis to check tihs note 1013369.
    Hope this could help you

  • Special Characters in Report Name or Report Description(URGENT)

I am using Hyperion Financial Reporting System 9 tool. Could anyone tell me what problem we face if we use special characters in report name and report description?

    Regards,

when using "&" in report and folder titles we had issues with report books not being able to run and also the report name would be incorrectly described.
try to avoid if possible, there is a lower risk if using on an all windows enviroment (clients and servers) but if you have *nix OS it does introduce complexity.

but I still get the same error.
Can anyone help me with this ?
    Thanks
    Tomasz K.

Ok, I found that only '&' and '%' characters breaks Cocoon processing.
The workaround is to use replace() function and change:
'&' to '%26' and '%' to '%25', but I think that is a dirty way...
Other characters like " - 'double citation' are succesfully escaped with xmlcdata() function.
Perhaps someone know the simpler way to get Master/Detail PDF reports from APEX without using BI Publisher ???
Actually I have page process invoked by button, which generates XML data, post it to Cocoon with UTL_HTTP and save generated PDF to database table (for future use).
The same button invokes branch to URL with download procedure.
Standard APEX reporting is not very usefull for me, because I don't know how to generate "complex" documents, with several grouping sections.
I will be gratefull for any aid.

  • Reports with output to excel - special characters not displayed correctly.

    Hi,
I have a portal with data from 5 continents. In many places special or national characters are used in names. My portal can show most of these characters correctly and so can my version of Microsoft Office Excel. When text with these characters are copy/pasted from the screen to an excel sheet, they are also shown correctly in excel. The problem arises in portal reports, where output is set to Excel, then special characters are often displayed as strange double characters, for example á is shown as á . Does anybody have a solution to that?
    Thanks
    Arne

No answers have been posted yet and now I have found a solution myself. The portal report is run and output set to Excel. The resulting file is opened, and a new row is inserted in the top of the sheet. In the first field in this row is written the characters *\xEF\xBB\xBF*. It is called a UTF-8 BOM, and when written in the start of a text file, it will tell the program that opens it, that UTF-8 encoding is used.<br><br>
The file is saved with the file type CSV (semicolon separated) (*.csv) and excel is closed. When you click on the CSV-file, it is opened by excel, and now all characters with accents, circumflexes and umlauts are shown correctly.<br><br>
The solution was found here: http://www.roosmaa.net/importing-utf-8-csvs-in-excel/

  • Passing values w/special characters in URL into an interactive report

    Hello,
I have a problem and Ive been all over these forums and reading/trying everything I can to get something to work. I have a page that has a field called Name Search. The field is a TextField with autocomplete type. If I select a company name that contains special characters, like 'Blue Shield of California Life *&* Health Insurance Company', when I click go button (using a branch), it is supposed to pass this value into the URL to populate IR_COMPANY_NAME on the interactive report page to create the report filter. However, when it goes to the IR page, it actually filters on 'Blue Shield of California Life *& amp;* Health Insurance Company' with 'amp;' instead of & and doesnt find any matches. In the page source it is actually 'value="Blue Shield of California Life *& amp; amp ;* Health Insurance Company." Here is the URL that it produces:
    http://webtest2:7775/apex/f?p=102:IRCompanyList:995769774353901::NO:5,RIR:IR_COMPANY_NAME,P5_COMPANY_NAME:Blue%20Shield%20of%20California%20Life%20%26amp%3B%20Health%20Insurance%20Company,Blue%20Shield%20of%20California%20Life%20%26amp%3B%20Health%20Insurance%20Company
The interesting thing is that I have another page that has a clasic report that lists all compnaies by name and the company_name is a link that passes the company name into the exact same IR and it works fine. In the page source it is value="Blue Shield of California Life *&amp;* Health Insurance Company" Here is the URL that this page produces:
    http://webtest2:7775/apex/f?p=102:5:995769774353901::NO:4,RIR:IR_COMPANY_NAME,P5_COMPANY_NAME:Blue%20Shield%20of%20California%20Life%20%26%20Health%20Insurance%20Company,Blue%20Shield%20of%20California%20Life%20%26%20Health%20Insurance%20Company
I have modified every field involved changing between encoding, no encoding, changing display types (Standard Report Column, Remove HTML and escape special characters, etc). I have also attempted to encode the value myself prior to sending it to the next page. I have tried variations of the htf.escape_sc etc. I have also tried adding \&P2_COMPANY_NAME.\. I have also tried adding pl/sql to create a collection to store the values and then pl/sql to fill the values on the report page. It gives me the success message I setup, but it never actually fills the value.
I am also having problems with another field that has a comma in it. I will wait to address that one to see if I can fix this first with hopes that it can be resolved by whatever I do to fix this issue.
Any suggestions? I appreciate any feedback!

    Thank you for your feedback!
Yes, I forgot to mention that. It does come from a table, but company_name is not unique in that table. Meaning, it wouldnt know which ID to pass. Perhaps I should seperate the name out into another table and then I could pass the id. I was just hoping to get this to work programatically since the links from classic reports actually work correctly. I am starting to think this is a bug. This issue appears to have been addressed to make the links from reports pass the & correctly, but not in the branching?
I have attempted to replace and then re-replace but I couldnt get it to work with IR_ fields as the filter fields are generated by the Interactive Report region. Do you have any insight working with those? Are there any tricks to it that I might be missing?
