Special Characters Table makes crash Numbers & Pages
Hello All,
I have a small problem with Numbers & Pages.
When I open the "special characters" table and keep it opened to insert characters, after 3 or 4 insertion, it makes freeze and crash Pages or / and Numbers.
However, I've found out that if I close this "SC" windows after each one or two insertion, and re-open it for next insertion, everything run smoothly. Obviously, this method is very messy if you've got to get special characters twice or three times in every word you're typing.
Anybody has faced the same issue or found a better way to solve it ?
Thanks
IanX
Hello
I never met this behaviour so I made a new try.
I was able to insert the entire set of Greek characters with no problem.
So, I guess that something is wrong in your system.

the built-in keyboard on my macbook is not functioning right, the number keys when pushed display the special characters instead of the numbers,
the caps button doesn't work at all, the letter buttons display capitals when pushed whether the caps button is on or off, the shift keys are also out of whack!!
It seems it somehow got relocated to the "0" button because if you push and hold the zero button down the keyboard seems to operate normally, the number keys display numbers when pushed the letter keys display lower case when pushed but release the zero button and your back in the twilight zone!! Can anybody help me resolve this issue? one more thing im using an external usb keyboard right now and it seems to function properly if that helps any.You would do better in the actual macbook pro forums (this is not).

How to export special characters into an XML file?
Dear experts,
We read files from our customers and save data into our customized table without any character changed, including some address fields. In those address fields, some special characters (not in our code page) are also kept. When we want to write these address fields into an XML file or flat file, the special charcters become "##" or not readable, can anyone help us to solve this issue?
Question1: How to write special code to an external file?
Question2: how to use 'CALL TRANSFORMATION' from an internal table to an XML file?
Your answer is highly appreciated!
JoanneHi Joanne.
Please check the below link.

Before that u have to create one transformation program in STRANS tcode for using it in call transformation statement.

I am creating a list of words with special characters in some of them. I get to a point where I cannot enter data directly into the cell. I have to use the data entry bar at the top in the toolbar. Any solutions available?
This is the table I am creating...
From row 25 on, I am only able to enter data into the cell through the toolbar at the top and not directly into the cell itself. I believe that this problem originates from the special characters I have inserted in the previous records because if I do not use special characters, then the spreadsheet acts flawlessly. Have there been issues in Numbers with data entry, the size of a table, and using special characters?I would try removing the rows with "special" characters one at a time to see which one is causing the problem

How can I put pictures in a table in Numbers / Pages 10. ?
Hello
I have the new version of Numbers and Pages 10.
Does anyone know how I can put pictures in a table, it always changes my picture into a background...That is annoying!
It worked perfectly with Numbers / Pages 09...
I really hope anyone knows how to do it, I have to prepare a list till tomorrow and it drives me mad!
Thanks a lot!
Miss V.There is no such thing as Numbers or Pages 10. The newest versions are Numbers 3.0.1 & Pages 5.0.1. The suite is sometimes referred to iWork '13, even by Apple, as that when it was released.
Pictures in tables is just one of the 90+ features that didn't make it into the "new & improved, rewritten from the ground up” Pages 5 & Numbers 3. Leave feedback for the Pages team using the link in the Pages menu and review & rate the new versions in the Mac App Store. Do the same for Numbers.
If you previously had iWork '09, those apps are still in your Applications folder in a folder named iWork '09. You can continue to use them to get things done. -
Special characters are not displaying in ADF jsp page
Hi All,
By using ADF view controller,I am getting the data from database table but when I display the data in jsp page after special character < what ever the data is there it is not displaced.Provide any suggestions.
Thanks in Advance
ManiHi Mani,
< is a special HTML character and obviously it may not me displayed correctly.
Here is a reference of all HTML special characters: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_entities.asp
In your case you can replace < with its special symbol representation - *< or <*
I also advice you to do so for all special HTML characters.
You can use this Java library for that purpose : http://commons.apache.org/lang/api/org/apache/commons/lang3/StringEscapeUtils.html

I want to convert a series of names into a table (in either numbers or pages). The list I have has a name and then an email address in brackets, followed by a 'yes' or a 'no'. I would like to separate the list into three columns - the first containing the name, the second containing the email address and the third containing the 'yes' or 'no'.
Can you help me ?The question that needs to be answered is what is separating the columns? Is it a single tab, one or more tabs, spaces, or what? Or is it the brackets that makes the separation between the three pieces of data?
If it is always a single tab, that makes it really easy. All you have to do is find/replace the brackets with nothing (as Wayne said)
If it might be multiple tabs, you can find/replace tab-tab with a single tab and repeat that a few times until no more double-tabs are found.
If it is one or multiple spaces, that might be difficult. I'll think about this one if this is what you have. I'll ignore this possiblility for now.
If it is the brackets separating the three pieces of data, you would Find/Replace the left bracket with a tab then do the same with the right bracket. -

On the target page, create a computation to compute the target item using the original page item as the source. If you are talking about a report, use the id to pass through the link and fetch the text column in an on load computation.

I can't find where to darken GRID lines on a table in the new Pages. I can make the outline more bold, but not the grid lines within the table. Is there a way to do this? The default grid lines are far too faint.
Yeah, the Help is missing a little.
If you select the block of cells that you want to change, then in the Format inspector:
Select the Cell tab
Expand the Border section
Set a line type
Set a line width
Choose a line color
Choose one of the nine options for which borders get the new settings -
Oracle SQL query for getting specific special characters from a table
Hi all,
This is my table
Table Name- Table1
S.no Name
1 aaaaaaaa
2 a1234sgjghb
3 a@3$%jkhkjn
4 abcd-dfghjik
5 bbvxzckvbzxcv&^%#
6 ashgweqfg/gfjwgefj////
7 sdsaf$([]:'
8 <-fdsjgbdfsg
9 dfgfdgfd"uodf
10 aaaa bbbbz#$
11 cccc dddd-/mnm
The output has to be
S.no Name
3 a@3$%jkhkjn
5 bbvxzckvbzxcv&^%#
7 sdsaf$([]:'
8 <-fdsjgbdfsg
10 aaaa bbbbz#$
It has to return "Name" column which is having special characters, whereas some special chars like -, / ," and space are acceptable.
The Oracle query has to print columns having special characters excluding -,/," and space
Can anyone help me to get a SQL query for the above.
Thanks in advance. You can achieve it in multiple ways. Here are few.

Special characters broken in Pages
Hi all,
I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks last week (very happy with the decision) and from Pages '09 to Pages 5. I soon moved from Pages 5 back to Pages 09 as it broke all my ToCs and had various other nuisances.
However, I've come to write a document (I'm an engineer) and inserted a special character (greek epsilon) for the first time since all these upgrades.
Firstly, the special characters palete has turned into a weird emoticon panel... [sidebar - Read the text in the background of the screenshot, Apple Devs - does it REALLY look like purple hearts a priority?].
Secondly, there is an actual bug - when you've finally located the character you want it doesn't insert correctly. In the screenshot below, I've inserted five variants of hte greek letter epsilon. Four of them inserted a totally blacnk character and the fifth some otehr symbol I don't even recognise - certainly no variant of epsilon.
QUESTION 1 - AND AN ANSWER
Is there any way to turn this ridiculous thing off and just open the special characters pallete?
Finally figured out that the button on the top right of the pallette is a toggle. Press it and thereafter the proper pallette shows up first.
QUESTION 2
The usability of the palette aside, I really need special characters - complete game changer for me. Does anyone know whether there is a fix or workaround for this problem please?
NEEDED TO FILE A PLAUSIBLE BUG REPORT
1. More information - if you've upgraded to Mavericks but not yet to Pages 5, could you try inserting an epsilon character please?
2. More information - if you've upgraded to Mavericks and are running Pages 5, could you try inserting an epsilon character please?
3. More information - if you've upgraded to Mavericks, run Pages 5 but still have '09 installed, could you try inserting an epsilon character please?
Answers to these three should help Apple to narrow down the source of the problem.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
TomI'm not sure what you are referring to by "variants" of epsilon, but I have no problem inserting Εε or anything else in Pages 4 or Pages 5 while running 10.9.
