There is no web console in ConfigMgr 2012. If you want a web console you have to look at third-party products.

  • Version of SQL Server Express for a Secondary Site in Configuration Manager 2012 R2

    Hi,
I want to install a secondary site in my Configuration Manager 2012 R2. I want to install the SQL Server Express in a diferente drive. To do so, I want to previous install the SQL Server Express.
Can I use the SQL Server 2014 Express?
    Thanks in advance...

Sorry, going to be blunt here, but this is why "best practices" are useless. If you don't know the "why" of the best practice and when to apply it, it will cause you to do things that simply aren't necessary (or even harmful) by
blindly trying to apply them. It is simply is not necessary for secondary sites for perf or any other reason. Also, if this is a VM, then your virtual disks will most likely be on the same physical disks which means you do *not* in any way gain any perf benefits
anyway (perf benefits come from have additional physical spindles -- logical separation is just that *logical*).
You have far bigger challenges ahead of you, push the easy button on this one, let ConfigMgr deploy SQL Express for you and move on.

  • Getting new file server. Special considerations for Revit?

    Hi all,
My office (small architecture firm) is looking to purchase a new file server. Our current one is a Mac Pro 1,1 (2006). We're Mac based and use VMWare Fusion on most workstations for our Autodesk Software. I use Bootcamp on mine. My employer is under the impression we can use a $500 Mac Mini as a replacement file server for our 10 person office, ~1tb of data, and website. We have a separate Mac Mini for email. Are there any hardware considerations I should make them aware of since we use it for Revit central models? I have a vague understanding of what hardware is prioritized for individuals workstations, but not for the file server where our central models live.

"One node is a DC, the other is a member server. "
Sounds like you should pick one of the many documents/videos available from TechNet or Microsoft Virtual Academy instead of CBT Nuggets.  They are giving you bad information.  You cannot cluster DCs.  It's that simple.  Cluster
nodes have to be members of a cluster.

  • Special consideration for coding clients while using weblogic clustering

              Hi.
I wanted to know whether there are any special consdirations to
be taken while coding clients(servlets in our case) for EJBs when

In our setup, we are following the recommended 2-tier architecture

  • Monitoring Configuration Manager in SCOM

Hi, I have enable some rules for SCCM in SCOM which generate a graph. But i am unable to understand the meaning of this graph. These graph are related to configuration manager component boxes. After going deeply i came to know what is the use of these boxes
but still i am unable to understand what is the meaning of these graph in configuration manager. Please help.

It means that you have had up to 9 messages backlogged in your statmgr queue, which have then been treated and so the queue went back to 0.
I have no idea of what amount of backlogged events can be considered as "alerting", though.
This is more a question for a SCCM admin actually, it's not really related to SCOM...

  • Multiple duplicate Configuration Manager Client (Upgrade) Packages

We have 14x Configuration Manager Client Package / Configuration Manager Client Upgrade Packages in our SCCM2012R2cu1 environment.
We tried deleting all of the packages that were not linked to deployments/task sequences, but a few days later these were re-created with new PackageIDs.

  • VMM Connection to Configuration Manager and Operations Manager

    Hi,
i was wondering how do i connect Virtual Machine Manager to Configuration Manager. do i need to have operations manager installed and up and running? or can i connect it to SCCM directly as it is being the main component.
From my understanding of the VMM is that it is used for provisioning and controlling of Hyper visors (cytrix, Vmeare, etc.).
why do i need to go through the Operation Manger? why can i not connect directly to SCCM?
whats the Advantages of using operations manager instead of using CM?
    Thanks.

VMM has no direct link to Configuration Manager at all.
VMM has a direct link to Operations Manager, which can be integrated and monitor the entire fabric (compute, networking and storage).
The synergy here is that every thing in VMM, will get exposed for monitoring in SCOM.
Configuration Manager has a different approach - as VMM is responsible for the
datacenter - while Configuration Manager manages the clients and eventually applications within the servers/clients.

Special conversions for time in update rules are automatically conversion rules.

  • Top Link Special Considerations in moving to Cost Based Optimizer....

Our current application architecture consists of running a Java based application with Oracle 9i as the database and toplink as the object relational mapping tool. This is a hosted application about 5 years old with stringent SLA requirements and high availability needs. We are currently using Rule Based Optimizer (RBO) mode and do not collect statistics for the schemas. We are planning a move to Cost Based Optimizer (CBO)
What are the special considerations we need to be aware of from moving RBO to CBO from top link perspective. Is top link code optimized for one mode over the other ?. What special parameter settings are needed ?. Any of your experience in moving Top Link based applications to RBO and best practices will be very much appreciated.
    -Thanks
    Ganesan Maha

    Ganesan,
Over the 10 years we have been delivering TopLink I do not recall any issues with customizing TopLink for either approach. You do have the ability to customize how the SQL is generated and even replace the generated SQL with custom queries should you need to. This will not require application changes but simply modifications to the TopLink metadata.
As of 9.0.4 you can also provide hints in the TopLink query and expression framework that will be generated into the SQL to assist the optimizer.

  • How to configure the rule in oracle configurator

    Hi All,
We are trying to create a rule in oracle configurator . The requirement is sum of the quantity of the selected component  should not  exceed 60 quantity. Can someone suggest me how to achieve this ?

    Hi,
You can use the "Resource" Component to track the quantity of the selected component.
For example set the "Resource" value to 60 and use the "Consume From" rule to relate the "Selected component" and "Resource". So here every time when the required component is selected, it consumes value from the Resource which is 60.
The value of the Resource can be positive or Zero but a Resource is violated if its value becomes negative at run time (That is over-consumed).
Hope this help for your requirement.
