Special effect-making a photo split and drift off the screen

I would like to cut a photo with a jagged edge and make the two resulting parts glide off the screen in different directions. Can anyone suggest a plug-in or program with which I could do this?

Hi Mary,
as an Expert For The Arcane.... forget digital, do "ToolTime"
basic: film "tricks" the eye... it is just 25/30 stills in a sequence...
(you hadn't told us, wether "the couple" is a moving image or a still? anyhow, I start with a moving image:)
make still of "last" frame (the point in time, where the toring apart happens...)
make a print of that (laser would be nice, a color jet printer is nicer
tear that print out in two pieces
now, the tricky part:
place you camcorder over a table, set light....
place both pieces underneath camera
record, how you push both parts in different corners..
(do some versions...)
don't record on tape, import DIRECTLY into iM!
the tricky part is, to place the camera in a way, that the pieces allmost stay in the same place as the last frame of moving image! (switch in iM between "import" and playback)
back to iM:
edit 1 - 2frames off of the very beginning the sequence
fasten sequence (rabbit)
add to last frame of moving sequence...
I would add some "sepia" and "cinema" (=making pic looking old) effect
this hard cut/jump cut (you cut off the beginning of the movement) from moving image to real picture will "surprise" the eye, the whole "moving pieces" sequence will be no longer then 10 - 15 frames... (you shouldn't do that slow-mo).....
I've done that before...- ok, not really Hollywood, but as a single shot the effects surprises most watchers...
you'll spend half a day for 15 frames... of glory ;-))))

I live in China as well and my iPhone5s is the model A1530 I bougth outside China. I have the same problem as Nikatnight with the iPhone while the iPad Air (wifi only) is working like a charm. It must be definitely something related to the carrier since I was abroad few days ago and everything worked well.
If you pay attention at the source of your maps, you'll discover they are provided by AutoNavi instead of TomTom and make them appear in chinese with their own border interpretation. Queries are only acceppted in Chinese (p.e. if I type in english "Los Angeles International Airport" it replies it cannot locate it)
I suppose everything will be fine when you'll be out of censorship....
Perhaps iOS Apple Maps are absolutely useless for expatriate in China.
Use Google Maps instead
BTW, I'm surprised how much Apple might prostrate towards hard power Governments.... No matter what, money are always on top!

My iPad 2 was without battery for about a month or so. but when i charged it, had 2% battery and it showed not charging . Now its totally dead and not charging just then apple logo comes and go off the screen when i try to charge it :(

Charge it over-night and try a reset the next morning.
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

Every time I turn my computer on it starts freaking out. The mouse starts moving on its own along with windows coming up and moving off the screen. Also the windows get bigger on their own and the screen slides around like some one else is doing it.

I have checked for viruses, restarted it and nothing works. It doesn't do it all the time just most of the time now.

Try resetting your PRAM by restarting, then holding <CMD>+<OPTION>+p+r until you hear the start up chime twice, then release the keys and allow to boot up.

I'm making a photo album and have decided to cut it in half and make 2 books. Has anyone been able to save the half of a photo album so they don't have to start again?

When I want to split a book into two, I duplicate the book (ctrl-click it in the source list, then select "duplicate book").
Then remove the first half of the pages from the second book and the second half of the pages from the original book.

Making new photo albums and slide shows

Is there a way to make new photo albums or slides shows on the iPad? I wish to organize photos and create slide shows while I am on the road, away from my sync computer.

The only way you could do this would be to first delete all photos in your Saved Photos album and then add the ones you want to use in your slide show one at a time (each photo you add is placed after the one previously added). Currently, by using the iPad alone with no third party apps, the only way to add photos to the Saved Photos album is either from Safari (touch and hold an image until the "Save image" dialogue comes up) or from email. On the iPhone originally, this was where photos you took with the camera went. Without the camera, it's left a bit stranded on the iPad.
The other "Photo Library" album is changeable only through an iTunes sync. If you put all the photos you want to use in your slideshows there, you could email them to yourself and then put them in the Saved Photos album one at a time. But that's awfully tedious and you can only have one Saved Photos album available at a time, so you'd have to do that with every slideshow you wanted. Not much use, I admit.
Until Apple improves the photo app on the iPad, it's not at all a versatile or very useful thing.

Need to backup and remove photo library form my iphone. This library was previously backup on a hard drive that crashed. So these photos are only in the photo library and not in the camera roll. If I do a full backup, it only takes the camera roll.

Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer. As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you. I'm sure you'll pay, however.
Let this be a very important lesson learned.

Check, if you have the "Primary Only" option enabled. Then keywords will only be applied to the "Primary Image":

Hi, I try to load a photo from desktop and Elements 12 opens up but the photo doesn't appear in the screen. I used to get it but lately they don't appear.

How are you trying to open the photos?
- from windows explorer? - double licking or right clicking and selecting Open with?
- by loading the editor and go to File -> Open?

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.

IF you have successfully imported your pictures to your Mac http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 then it's safe to delete it from your phone.
If you want the pics back on your phone, just sync them back using itunes http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236

There is a limit on the number of photos that you can send in one email from the photos app, but I thought it was five. In any event, you know that you can send mutiple photos from the mail app itself and you can send more than 5.
When you are typing an email - Tap and hold down in the body of the message area and select "Insert Photo or Video" from the black pop up options bar. Select the photos that you want to include from the photos app window that appears. Then hit return on the keyboard and start the process all over again.
You can insert photos, type text, enter more photos .... any way that you would like to do it.

Same way they got on your phone, through the iTunes sync process. With your phone connected, iTunes running, under the "Photos" tab, deselect the albums/folders/photos you do not want on your phone. Hit the "Apply/Sync" button & they will be removed from your phone.

Downloaded iOS 7.0.2 and one of my apps (ultimate history quiz) changed size. It is so large I am not able to play the game because most of the print is off the screen on my iPad. Help!!!!

Had an app (Ultimate History Quiz) that I played frequently. It came up on the screen in the smaller iPhone version. Then I downloaded iOS 7.0.2, and now the app is so big that the printing goes off the screen, making it impossible to play. I checked the app sore to buy another one, and it is no longer available on there. WHAT CAN I DO TO RESTORE THE GAME TO ITS ORIGINAL SIZE???????

Wait for apple to tweak things....or talk to the app developer. they haven't updated since the update and unless APple happens to fix whatever the issue is, then the burden is on history to make their app work with the iOS
