Special Photo Montage Software... Is there a good one out there?

I need a software just for that, a one of a kind.
I do professional montages for clients... The only problem is, they are time consuming sometimes and I have to have them ready on time. I was wondering if there is any programs that are helpful to get them done with out sacrifising the creative professional look to it... I just don't want a program that would make them look as if a 12 year old put them together. But I need something that is not as complicated as Motion, FCP, Photoshop, you get it. I need something made just for Montages!
Check this web site out for some samples: http://www.bddesignsmultimedia.com/ashley.html
If there is one that would do a better job, please let me know. Some thing with better built in effects and transitions. Money is not a problem.
Thank you.

It looks to me (with my limited knowledge) that those samples you linked to are done with a much more complex program that iMove. I would think you need multiple video tracks to seperate out the still image from the moving background image.
Also the type at the start did not look like anything you can do in iMoves. I would assume it is done with FC (E or P), Avid, Media 100 or one of the other hi end video programs.

  • Trying to find photo montage software

    Hi,
There is a website for a video production co. out there and I'm trying to find out which software they use. Website is jandrvideo.com. I love their sample productions, especially photo montages. Can anyone tell me?
    Thanks,
    Connie

No, you aren't missing anything, Photostream isn't on the iCloud.com webpage. You can reset Photostream from there though by clicking on your name on the main page and choosing the advanced option.

  • Photo montage software?

I need to put together a photo montage.  iMovie 9 is installed and I've read some of what the limitations are.  iMovie 11 continues to get hammered on the ap store.  I want to be able to add titles, music, photos and video.  I have a 2009 27" iMac, running snow leopard, with 16GB (recently upgraded) of RAM.  Is therer a clear and obvious choice here?
With all the negative reviews of iMovie '11 I admit I'm a bit scared to upgrade.  Is my best bet one of the iMovie products (with their limitations) or is their a 3rd party product I should be strongly considering, expecily I want control over images, video, sound and titles...
Thanks all I look foreward for your feedback.

I think the results are skewed by folks that are having technical problems.
In my experience, iMovie 11 is a worthy upgrade.
I can't think of anything to recommend that's not going to cost you a lot more than the $14.99 for iMovie '11.
Is there something in particuluar that iMovie '09 is not doing for you that's making you contemplate the upgrade?

  • Photo montage software that integrates well with iMovie and iPhoto?

    Hello,
I need to do more complex photo montages that what iPhoto slideshow and iMovie has to offer. Does anyone have any recommendations for a software that integrates with the iLife software easily so it's fairly seamless? I need to produce professional-quality photo montages (ideally using photos and video, but I can pull the video in with iMovie or FCE after I do the photo section if I need to do so).
    Thanks for your recommendations!

Do you need to update Quicktime as well?

  • Photo montage Ken Burns effect w/ variable intervals synced to music cues

I was thinking of buying Final Cut Pro to create a photo montage because iMovie does not let you define the specific timings for each photo montage. For example, I need one photo to show for 3 seconds and transition to another photo that lasts 5 seconds because of the way the music flows.
I start with music and I'm adding photos to specific points of music changes.
My question: the tutorials I've found on google all use Final Cut Pro. Can I accomplish the same task with the cheaper Express version?
Here are the tutorials that show what I want to do:
    http://www.geniusdv.com/newsandtutorials/2008/08/photo-montage-to-the-music-with-final-cut-pro.php
    http://www.geniusdv.com/newsandtutorials/2008/05/ken-burns-effect-photo-montage-in-final-cut-pro.php
Can I use the techniques described in those 2 links in Final Cut EXPRESS?
    Thanks for the info.

This information is probably obsolete. FCE supports 1920x1080.
Now I'm confused about FCE max resolution. I found this soundbite on the web... a user says:
"There is also the consideration that FCE 4.0x won't natively export 1920x1080, which I think is very disappointing -- the software engine is limited to 1440x1080. FCP does true HD from what I understand."
I'm not sure if he's saying the FCE "engine" doesn't support 1920x1080 or if AIC doesn't support 1920x1080 or something else.

I'm looking for a simple digital photo framing software.  There are many free ones for microsoft, but I ca't find one for my macpro.  All I want is an application to put a border around a photo without me drawing it.   Thanks.

  • I am looking for a good photo editing software, only editing, not sharing etc

any recommendation for a good photo editing software for starters, only to enhance picture, play arounf with colours in black and white background etc.

In order of price here are some suggestions:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • Recommend good photo printer software (don't like iPhoto's)?

I don't like the way that the iPhoto 'print Photo/s' software works.
I used to use Canon Image browser, with that I could select, for example, three photos. place them all on one A4 sheet of paper, and scale each one individually to the size I wanted. ie have one large, the other two smaller. It cut down on a lot of waste paper. IPhoto will only let me put all the images at the same size, as far as I can work out.
Canon Image Browser is not Leopard compatible, boo-hoo. Does anyone have any recommendations for other (free) software I could use to achieve the same as my old? Or is it possible with iPhoto?
    CJHEERS!

Canon has: Canon PowerShot ImageBrowser 6.1.1a which is Leopard compatible. I downloaded it just this morning.
Do you have a 3rd party editor that you like? I use Photoshop to do most of my printing. Photoshop Elements for Mac is an amazing editor, can do advanced editing, and does color management to give you optimal prints.
Others are Portraits and Prints, Acorn, Pixelmator. You can use them as the 3rd party editor in iPhoto safely but not ImageBrower as it's a browser and not strictly an editor. Go to iPhoto's General preferences and set the Edit Photo: to your editor of choice.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

I am bddesignsmultimedia and that is my site that I think you were insulting Those montages were made with FCP and After Effects and I take offense that you think they look like they were made by a 12 year old. From some of the other responses I am glad to see that everyone does not think like you. Those montages were made with hard work and loving care for 13 year olds at their Bat Mitzvahs. They were very well received and I am proud of my work. There isn't any magic software to take the place of time and patience.< </div>
Try not to take things too personally around here. It's easy to take offense at or cause unhappiness with a casually callous remark.
How about telling us about the canned transitions, which package were you using? That information might help others find similar tools to help them.
I do have one comment about your demo reel on the site…using footage from the Mouse House and uncleared music might not be a good idea.

  • Photos does not support external editing like iPhoto. Is there likely to be an upgrade to change this or will I abandon Photos for software that does support editing in Photoshop?

Photos does not support external editing like iPhoto. Is there likely to be an upgrade to change this or will I abandon Photos for software that does support editing in Photoshop?

iPhoto does work and there is an upgrade:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • HT4623 Why on earth don't you tell people to back up contacts and photos before they update software? There was no mention of the need to back up until it was too late. I have lost hundreds of valuable phone numbers and photographs.

The update process DOES back up contacts and photos, unless you interrupted the backup. The manual tells you to sync contacts to an app on your computer, and to import photos regularly to your computer. So Apple DID tell you to back up, you just didn't bother to read it.
If you didn't sync yet (and even if you did) connect the phone to your computer, right click on its name, and choose "Restore from Backup". If there's more than one backup choose the one with a timestamp before you updated.

  • Good photo editing software? (a little off topic...)

anyone know of a good program for editing photos and other images in general? i used corel photo-paint on my windows pc, and i really liked the balance between easy-to-use and gets-things-done. i've also used photoshop, but i'm not as big a fan of that. any suggestions as to what i should get for my ibook? if it's free or cheap, that would definitely help.... thanks!

First here are two Apple KB documents that you should be aware of, particularly the second one:
    iPhoto Library Description
Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder
iPhoto is designed so that the user accesses the photos entirely from within iPhoto and not from the Finder.
You can seamlessly use PSE from within iPhoto as your editor of choice. Go into iPhoto's preferences under the General tab. Under "Double-click photo" select "Open photo in:" and then select PSE. Now when you double-click on a photo PSE will open and open that photo for editing. There is one caveat to all of this, you cannot change the name or extension of the file you're editing. If you edit it as a jpg and save as a jpg file you're safe. If you create a layered image required a change in format and extension to .psd you must save it to the desktop and then import back into iPhoto from there. Other than that it's completely seamless. I use Photoshop 7 as my editor of choice and it works great.
Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.

  • How To: Make A Photo Montage

I have four photos, closeups of people. What I want to do is to arrange them in a semi-circle, next to each other. And I'd want each photo boundary to fade into the photo next to it.
What I'm trying to do is to create a label to paste onto CDs. I have software that'll allow me to import the finished photo montage and print to the appropriate label. Text, of course, would be superimposed on the photos.
I'd very much appreciate hearing from anyone who has tried a similar stunt. How did you go about it?
    Dave

    Dave:
You might give Discus a try. It has templates for printing directly on printable discs and many label layouts. These are just some of the labels I've created for DVDs:
Just so you know it's strongly recommended to not put paper labels on disks, particularly DVDs but also CDs. The labels can unbalance the disk causing playback problems, blister or begin to peel after a while jamming optical drives, especially slot loading drives.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back.
There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.
