What is the "specific" command for memtest in terminal????
I've downloaded the 4.22 version of memtest installed okay and I can't get it to run.
I have a G4 MDD. Os is Tiger 10.4.11 I've run applejack countless times, Onyx as well, have corrected permissions and run disc repair as well
and I still have slowed up beachball frozen processing!!! across all my hard drives. Windows stall all my other open programs with a beachball then 14 seconds later it lets it allgo and the window opens. Every time after start-up. Any new window or program I open does same. After it's been initially clicked on, most windows open normal speed. This is excruciating. I've had this machine optimized professionally, and it was good for couple of weeks then it started slowing down processing again.
I thought to check the ram, but cannot run the memtest program!
What is the command sequence font per font and spaces to use in terminal?
Or how do I check if it's even recognized by my machine? I have used rember which came back okay, but, I know that it can't test the ram currently in use.
I've downloaded and checked memtest when installing applejack and also dwnloaded it seperately, but no go.
I would welcome advice and direction.

G4 Mirror, 1,25 GHz , 2 GB (max ram) 10.4.11
Graphcs Crd- ATI Radeon 9000 Pro, VRAM 64MB
I have 3 internals HD's
Reason I want to check is my system is not only slow, but, freezes at random times. For example typing into test edit, while Firefox is open with one window. Or, I open a window in Finder and it takes 15 seconds for the request to complete, meantime all other applications freeze in those 15 seconds. Nothing works and I have 2 GB ram!
When problem started, I had a pro optimize the system - Checked all 3 HDs. found no bad sectors on any of them.
I have booted into 2 different drives and have the same problem: Beachball appears often. When opening windows in Finder, it hangs for about 10 -15 seconds. Sometimes it just stays rolling until I force shut it down. Every session it happens at some point. I don't need to shut it down every time, but, it is slow, as if a huge program is running in the background. BUT, I only have the browser open. It scrolls with a stutter often or beachball shows up when opening a new tab that is loading a page.
For the Primary Drive which is 300GB capacity:
Disk Usage - Space utilized - 141.54 GB
        Space Free- 137.79GB
The Other Drive I boot into:
250GB capacity,
Space Utilized - 166.31MB
Space free 66.56GB
I'vee dumped these pref panes in Safe Boot -
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist

It ran okay for a day, then it went right back to the same issue of slow-down and freezes. This happens even when there is no browser or when I use Safari.
I'm deeply frustrated, as I can't work profficiently on this machine right now, and it's the only one I have.
The memtest app is on my desktop...so is this the correct script?   /desktop/memtest/memtest all 3 -L
I have super duper and I love it. Will get Disk Warrior.
I will have console and activity monitor open at all times,
Only reason I think it's possible bad ram is because the freezes are happening on my other drive as well. I get slow window beachballs when I boot into it!

Specific language for a specific app ?

Hi all,
I've been a mac user for a few decades, but I now come across a specific need for the first time.
Is there an easy way to make it so that a specific App (Logic Pro X as a matter of fact) opens up in a specific language (English) while the preferred language in System Prefs is different (French) so that all other apps open in French by default?
I know of a way to have LPX opening in English by changing the preferred language to English in the Systems Prefs, but I have to (remember to) manually change this setting in the System Prefs every time before I open it, and change it back every time after closing it to keep using the rest of my Mac in French.
What I'm looking for is a specifi feature (or Utility) that would enable me to specify that LP X must use English language (countrary to all other apps) once and for all, without having to suffer this manual hassle every time. Preferably, I'd rather not "delete" all other languages but English from the LP X package (just in case I would need to use it in French at some point in the future ; I know, I ask for a lot here).
Any idea how to achieve this?

Tom, kudos to you, this indeed solved it!
Contrary to my post above, on second thought I went to the Terminal solution first, so as to directly amend default settings, by fear that if I swapped the lproj folder names in the app package this might cause funny little things later on if I update the app to a new version with new functionalities, extra menus, whatever (with consequent additions to these folders; I'm not really sure how an app is updated from v.10.0.9 to v 10.1 for instance...).
It did it marvelously. The thing to know, for newbies to these things like myself, in case one would read this later on :
If the app name includes spaces - such as Logic Pro X - make sure to include \ before each of them - such as Logic\ Pro\ X otherwise the command line won't work.
Real command line example would therefore be:
defaults write -app Logic\ Pro\ X AppleLanguages -array en
Safest is to drag & drop the app icon to an empty Terminal window first, which will display the full app path including its exact name Terminal-wise (including a .app extension which must not be included in the app name as per the command line above).
This helped my, I hope it will help others as well.

How can I use custom WLST commands for Oracle SOA Suite in Weblogic

I'm trying to view and search the weblogic log files using WLST on a Solaris/Unix system.
I have come across this "custom WLST commands for Oracle SOA Suite" and thought of using the custom logging commands to get my task done.
However, my WLST shell is not recognizing the commands and giving me the NameError!

I tried the commands listLogs, displayLogs, getLogLevel & setLogLevel but in vain!
I have followed the instructions as per the oracle recommendation of using Custom WLST commands (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29597_01/core.1111/e10105/getstart.htm#ASADM10692) as below
- Launched the WLST shell from Oracle Home.
cd ORACLE_HOME/common/bin
./wlst.sh
- Tried to run the listLogs command from domainRuntime()
I would like to know if I need to import any additional libraries to run the custom WLST commands for Oracle SOA Suite in my WLST shell?
I have only weblogic 10.3.1 server installed on my Solaris 10 machine on which I have deployed the OSB application software.
There is no SOA Suite installed.
Or is there any other way I can browse the Server Log file and get the list of log messages? Basically I would like to use this feature in my script to customize it according to my requirement of listing specific error logs which I can work it out if I know how to make these commands work.
Please advise if this is possible and how?

Key Command for Option Clicking a Marker

Option Clicking a Marker does just what I want. It sets the playhead to the beginning of that marker without selecting the marker. Now if I could make the Keypad behave the same way, I could save myself a lot of damage to my Marker tracks. Right now a keypad # selects the marker, moves the playhead to it and sets the locators around it. preferences to make this more granular would be welcome.
The option keypad numbers seem to be unused in the default key commands. Perhaps the option key could be set to trigger the same behaviour as option clicking a marker. it makes it intuitive (meaning I tried it.)

The only way I can think of is to use a Macro app like QuicKeys assigning a KeyStrokes to a sequence of two key commands:
For example:
ctr+opt+cmd+1 triggers 1 (go to Marker 1) followed by sh+opt+D (Deselect All)
ctr+opt+cmd+2 triggers 2 (go to Marker 2) followed by sh+opt+D (Deselect All)
ctr+opt+cmd+3 triggers 3 (go to Marker 3) followed by sh+opt+D (Deselect All)
You can assign the QuickKeys commands (ctr+opt+cmd+1, etc) to the keypads and they will move the Playhead to that Marker and selects the Marker. However, QuicKeys sends the second KeyCommand right away and deselects the Marker.
No deleting of selected Marker by accident anymore.
The KeyCommands in Logic are already very powerful, but when combined with QuicKeys (or any other Macro app) that lets you fire up a sequence of KeyCommands or mouse click on specific areas on the Logic interface per key commands, then it gets really powerful. Combine that with multi-touch gestures on your TrackPad using the amazing BetterTouchTool app, an you can take your customized workflow to a whole new level.

Isight not working anymore after a sudo command i put on terminal

i have not been able to get the smc to work.. but i am almost positive what the problem is that sudo command killall for coremedia command i did..b ecause not my isight built in camera will not work for any application.// this has me freaking out.. please if anyone could guide me through whatever it takes to get this isight camera working that would be a life saver.. i do not believe that it is hard ware because it was working just fine that entire day until i did something in terminal trying to stop the coremedia processes not knowing what they were..

One way to check this kind of stuff is to look in the manuals.
IN particular, I would have looked in the SQL Language reference manual to verify the syntax. Is it Possible to define specific timelines for specific users or user groups in EBS? (e.g. Mr X can only log in between 08 00 hrs and 16 00 hrs and session is automatically terminated with a grace period afterwards).

Hi Hussein, here is the exact req.
I need to allow a few specific users to work only during office hours like 8.00 to 6.00 etc . So i will create a form to capture these timing details in a custom table.
When the user logs into the application outside of his allowed timing ie after 6.00 i need to check for this user in my custom table which has the timing and if he is not allowed to work then should not allow him to login. I was thinking a trigger will help me solve this any suggestions from yourside.

I am not sure but try making a specific module for your exit handling, for instance:
module do_exit at exit-command.

ARD-Unix Command for Energy Saver Settings

I need to take out the schedule for turning on and off 100 + iMacs. The setup was done with managed preferences in OSX server but cannot be taken off now. Is there a way to turn this off using a unix command with ARD? I've been doing one by one with ARD!

I'm looking at applying patch 3486172 as it's a prerequisite for another patch that i want to apply.
The name of the patch CUSTOMER SPECIFIC FIX FOR 11.5.9 is a tad vague to say the least and the readme documentation doesn't say anything about what it's fixing / amending / changing.
Does anyone have any more information as to what this patch is about.

If you are concerned about the impact, apply the patch with apply=no added to the adpatch command line, or do an Oracle Applications Manager patch analysis on it. On 11.5.9, you had to download the patch yourself, and place it in the patch_top defined in OAM.
