Specific Contact Ringtones being reset to default?

Anyone else having a problem with their Samsung Galaxy S3 deleting ringtones set for specific contacts? My wife's phone has done this many times and it is frustrating. We can't figure out why it is happening and how to stop it. It seems like it happens after the automatic backup runs at night and we have tried turning that off yet it still runs and her specific contact ringtones still get reset to default. My Galaxy S3 has not been doing this at all.

Are the ringtones ones that you/she has uploaded? If so store them on the phone's interal storage (SDcard and not ext-SDcard). This is not absolutely necessary, but it never hurts.
If you are using Verizon Backup Assistant then get rid of it ASAP. Search this forum and do a Google search for methods to stop and disable Backup Assistant. This topic has been covered many times.

6500 slide reset to default fix inside

I have finally figured out how to fix this, and noticed that several people had he same issue i did.
the problem with ringtones etc resetting to default, is caused by them being housed on the memory card. The memory card then disconnects from the phone as the metal back is very flimsy.
My solution is easy and requires very little skill, just a little care
Under the back of the casing (next to the hole for the camera lens) there is a small metal peice that is required to complete a connection in a small hole next to the memory card slot, all i did was slightly bend this piece so it sticks out a small bit more than usual, you may also want to very very slightly bend the casing a little so it doesnt feel as loose.
It can be slight trial and error, and dont be rough with it as it may snap off ruining the phone

Took a few attempts for em but nothing has reset for ages now and i've vigoursly tested the phone by shaking it droipping it slightly etc (basically everything that caused the reset before) and its been fine

The reset happens on switching off, not on switching on. I know this because the alarm will no longer ring in correct time after switching off and in my model the alarm clock should work when the telephone is off.

interestingly, when installing firmware, the program switches telephone off and then when you switch it back on the time is correct. However, when the telephone is later switched off by power button, the time is back again on default values and I must re-enter it.

From the home screen, tap on Contacts, tap on the contact you'd like to edit.

Trying to change ringtones for contacts but still goes to default ringtone

Hello,
I have been trying for a frustrated 6 hours to try and get this to work.
I am trying to change a contact ringtone to something other than the default tone. I have gone into the contact and changed it manually from there and still no luck. It shows that it is changed but when I get a call from that contact it plays the default phone ringtone. I have tried everything from a soft reset, to a hard boot to even restoring all my default settings and still no change!
If anyone can help me out it would very much appreciated.

Make sure you do not have duplicate entries in multiple groups. Changing the entry in one group does not change it in the other groups. I had duplicate entries in my Google Contacts group & the 'All on My iPhone' group. I would change the entry in the Google Contacts group and not the 'All on My iPhone' group & when the call came in, the setting in the 'All...' group was used, even tho' I didn't have it selected to be displayed. I ended up deleting the 'All..' entries and also deselecting the Sync Contacts setting in iTunes under the Info tab.

This is probably a n00b question, but is there any way to assign a specific ringtone to a specific contact? I just switched from an LG Lotus, where I was able to give each contact a specific ringtone. I'd love to be able to do that with my Style...

Go to your Contacts, scroll to the one you want, hit the BB Menu button, scroll to Edit, when the contact info comes up scroll down to the Custom Ring Tones/Alerts section, highlight the Phone option, click the Trackpad, when the next screen comes up the first box at the top is where you can choose the Ringtone. Click the Trackpad and all of your ringtones should come up automatically, if you want one that is not on the list scroll down to either All Alerts, All Voice Notes, or All Music and choose which file you would like to use. The same procedure applies to changing tones for messages. Your vibration, volume, etc. will all be set to Active Profile as a default, if you want the volume and vibration to be different for a specific contact you can also change these options at this time.

I think you cannot set default value with something that is not on the list.
try to do it differently, leave the 3 option and set the default value to New.
then, edit the "newform.aspx" and hide the field, with jQuery

You can use numactl to lock any process to a NUMA node, but that only helps if your machine really is NUMA (AMD Opteron servers are, Itanium systems often are).
You should be able to enumerate nodes using:
numactl -H
And lock the process to a node using for instance:
numactl cpubind=$node_num membind=$node_num java MyClass
It is hardware dependent how many CPUs and how much memory you have per node. A common number of CPUs is 1-4 sockets.

Contact ringtone defaults

every time i "fetch" or "push" to sync with my other macs the iphone ringtones i have previously set for individual contacts reverts back to the default ringtone for all contacts. Anyone having same problem or knows how to fix.

I thought I didn't do it after upgrading to firmware 2 buth then it keeps losing the ringtones again and again !
please Apple do something so the pushed contacts keep their ringtones !

Suddenly I cannot text one specific contact. They can text me and we can both call each other. My service provider shows no record of texts being sent, even though they appear to be sent from my iphone 4s. Can anyone help?

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

Settings being reset upon shuttdown

Recently (as of today) my MacBook Pro has been having issues "remembering" my settings/preferences for various applications/tools. Several miscellaneous things are being forgotten regardless of my continuous efforts to reapply them:
View options for icons
Background image
iTunes Library/Playlists
Safari/Firefox bookmarks
Time Appearances
Widgets (it was completely reset to default)
etc.
Right before I first encountered the problem I noticed that my dock was behaving oddly. It would not magnify upon mousover and there would be no text indicating the name highlighted application. I had shrugged it off just thinking it was momentarily glitching but upon restart all of these settings/preferences were reset.
From there, I proceeded to reapply them in hopes that this wouldnt happen again but alas it has. It is quite the annoyance.
I have FileVault running if that helps at all (I've had a few problems with this computer before because of it). Any ideas?

Way to disable vibrate for a specific contact's incoming calls only?

My iPhone is not jailbroken, so I am unable to use iBlacklist to black or ignore incoming calls. So instead I've edited the contact in question to have a silent ringtone.
However, in general I prefer to have both ring and vibration on for all incoming calls, since I'm often in loud areas where I can't hear the ringtone.
But the reason that I want to block this particular contact is because it calls me at all sorts of weird hours, thus the vibration wakes me up. So not being able to disable vibration for this contact in addition to the ringtone is a problem for me.
Is there any way that I can not only make the ringtone silent, but also disable vibration for this specific contact - and only this contact? Perhaps some app, or a setting that I'm unaware of?

Check with your carrier. Many have the ability to block calls from certain numbers. Many do have a cost associated with them though.

Problems saving contact ringtones

Is anyone else having problems saving contact ringtones? I tried changing it and it keeps stay as default. I've tried both the ringtones that came on the razr and also one I bought and it still says default. I went into the contacts, went to menu, chose options, ringtones and chose the ringtone I wanted and hit ok, but it still says Default. Any suggestions?

Motoblur: On Motorola’s phones, like Samsung’s, there’s an easy way to ensure that new contacts are always saved to Google. When you go into the Contacts application, go to Menu -> More-> Settings then Choose Contact Storage-> and it'll provide you with your various options to save the contacts to, Google being one of them. Give this a Try..

Lost contact ringtones ater upgrade to IOS7

Hello, All!
After upgrade to IOS 7, i've lost all custom ringtone settings for the contacts. It reset to the default ringtones!
I have iPhone 4 and Google contacts (CardDAV).
For me it is not big problem, custom settings for very limited contacts, and only few minutes to restore it back.
But my wife has many accounts with customised ringtones, it will may take lot's of time to restore...
Because of this, she don't want to upgrade.
Is there a way to keep it, or maybe Apple can fix this in nearest future?
Also, one idea, to have groups for custom ringtones and so forth, because for some users it may usefull.
For example doctor has patients and groups patients with diffirent ringtones. It is not so easy to setup it one by one
and control it in future (if hundreds of patients). Esiest way, to setup groups and put contact there... If somethink special for this
contact, it may customised in contact settings...
