Specific folder viewing

Hi, I'm looking through my "imported folder files", and the folder contains both RAW photos and folders with other photos inside.
I've marked the good ones as "green" from the parent folder and sub-folders, how do I view the photos ONLY from the parent folder?

I found the answer myself. It was this what was missing (to choose the specific folder).
eg.
app.browseTo(Folder("/Macintosh HD/MyFolder/"));

How To Fix View Options for a Specific Folder

I have several folders that I prefer to view in specific ways: Applications in list view, alphabetically, with large icons; another also in list view, by most recently modified, also large icons; another in icon view, with icons set to a specific size, etc.
Obviously, I know how to use View Options to set the view as I'd like for each specific folder. And I've set these folders with the "Always Open in..." button.
Unfortunately, after closing that folder, the next time I come back to it, it's reverted to different View settings: a folder that I'd set to view by most recently modified is back to alphabetical, or the icon size has changed, etc.
Am I missing something? I had noticed similar behavior under 10.6, but I attributed it then to the fact that my drive was dying, and I was getting all sorts of wonky behavior.

Use Time Machine on ONLY one specific folder?

I wish to use the Time Machine function to backup only one specific folder on my computer, the DROPBOX folder.
How can I implement this and inform Time Machine of my choice?
According to my first investigations, I only have the choice to select folders to EXCLUDE. This makes the setup of Time Machine unconfortable.
Any advice?

Makes no sense to backup the dropbox folder alone, Dropbox It is "cloud storage" and has its own backup. Dropbox keeps a snapshot every time you save a file. You can preview and restore.
If you go to the DROPBOX website you can view deleted file from the trash can icon (see below.)
From there it is a matter of Restore the file. This would work for accidentally deleted files, there maybe a 30day archive limit so read the small print for details.
If it is imperative to your backup plan, just drag and drop your folder to any external storage device, just not the Time Machine HD/partition.

Albums and tags in folder view PSE9

I have just converted from v6 to v9. In v9. I have a pictures folder with dated subfolders. In v9, using albums to search or tags, I cannot search the whole pictures folder ie all the subfolders. It will only search within the folder I am viewing. The means I have effectively lost the ability to search. It worked in v6 ok. I can search using albums/tags only when I am in thumbnail view. I have checked all the varioous options and views and cannot work out if something is wrong or a different functionality. In v6 when in folder view I click on "My pictures" all the photes can be viewed and I can scroll through all the sub folders using the slider down the rightr side. In v9 when I do this nothing is displayed and I have to click on a specific folder to view photos but only those in the subfolder. Any ideas how to solve this issue?

I agree. This upgrade has lost important features and is extremely slow. If I had only known, I defintely would not have upgraded.
Hopefully, the folks from Adobe are following this and will issue a patch to make the organizer usable. I'm about to just switch to Picasa for the organizer features.

Catalog corruption when moving files in folder view

LR 1.3.1 MacOS 10.5 (although also happened with 10.4)
I've been using LR since the free beta and have over 6,000 images in my catalog. I shoot Nikon cameras almost always in RAW + JPEG. I used to add the jpegs as separate images, but now use them as my previews.
I recently became low on space on my system hard drive and attached an external FW 800 500GB disk that I decided to store my photos on. Using LR, using the folder view, I moved my images from the hard drive onto the external FW disk. Now, all the NEF's that I imported as NEF+JPEG are "corrupted". Specifically, when I look at them in Grid view, the thumbnails look "OK", however underneath the file name (eg: _DSCXXXX) it now says "JPG+JPEG" instead of "NEF+JPEG". When I go into Edit mode to look at the preview though, the initial image looks "normal" however I get a message saying "Rendering: Settings changed ..." and then the image looks ..... weird, perhaps cross processed or something, and then going back to Grid mode the thumbnail is now changed. If I say to show the file in Finder, it shows me the JPG file, not the NEF file. It's like the NEF file has disappeared. All the NEF's that I loaded without the accompanying JPEG are fine.
I had the same problem over 1 year ago and we filed a bug against LR but never heard anything back. I'm hoping that someone else has encountered this problem and can suggest how to fix the corrupted database. Otherwise, I will have to revert to a backup catalog and try "re-finding" the files on the new FW drive.

I'm simply using the JPEG's as previews so there is no separate "file" in LR for them so I can't delete them from LR. I suppose I could delete all the files out of the catalog and reimport them .... that sounds fun ... since they are keyworded and some are modified it makes more sense to revert to a backup and hope I can refind them. Perhaps deleting the ... Previews.lrdata file (not folder) might do it as you suggest but I'm a bit reticent just yet.
I don't want to take this thread off topic, but will have to look around a bit to find out why someone would not want to have both as "originals" as you indicate.

What is the best way to share a specific folder between macs????

Hello, I would like to share a specific folder between macs, heres what I need to do:
1) share one folder that resides in my home folder
2) the other mac should be able to view it without any login information (no password etc)
How? What is the best way?

I am sort of saying that. Have you tried it? I know it's hard to believe, but you really need to help us out by trying some steps that you don't believe.

Sharepoints manages the samba configuration file. It's free software that puts a pretty face on an otherwise cumbersome config file.

As I stated. You will not get prompted on windows, if you have set up sharing in an insecure fashion. You are not using a secured sharing situation.

Open specific folder when starting

Would like to set specific folder/catalog as the one to open on initial load of organizer? How?

And, if you're using "Folder View", I think it remembers the last folder used. In any case, you cannot specify the default folder to open.

Finder runs near 100% cpu when I open a specific folder.

I noticed my mac pro battery went to the red zone in under two hours, it normally goes all day. I checked activity monitor and it showed finder using 97% cpu.
To keep it short, I discovered there's a problem only when I have a specific folder open. I don't have to be accessing the folder, finder goes near 100% anytime this folder is open, even when there are no other apps running. It's a relatively large folder - about 3300 items counting all files and subfolders. Is there a maximum size finder can handle under snow leopard or, perhaps, on an intel processor? I tried moving half the items to another folder and the problem seemed to stop. This isn't a good solution for me, however, as I need all the files located together.
There is no problem with this folder on my good old power pc running 10.4, so I'm processing it there for the time being.

No, info is not checked, nor is arrange by nor show icon. Thanks anyway.
However, curiously, if I change view from icon to list, finder cpu % drops down to near zero. Change view back to icon, and finder goes crazy again. Maybe this'll mean something to someone?
Meanwhile, I can now use that folder, just have to remember to set it to list view.

If the workaround does not work for you, I think the symptom you encounter may not fully match the one described on the KB article. I have some questions:.
1. When did the issue firstly happened, just after applying the RU?
2. What’s the user impact, all the users or some specific users?
3. Have you tried resetting the folder views to the default settings on the Outlook side and does it help?

Change default folder view?

Hi. I was wondering if there was a way to change the default folder view. For instance, I'd like it so that when I create a new folder or open a new window it would be automatically in list view mode, and with the specific columns I want. Is this possible?

From the "view" menu choose "List View" uncheck in Prefs where you may have checked "Open new windows in column view".

JFileChooser is not working for specific folder

I have JFileChooser code, which I have been using in past many times. However in current application I am using different enviroment (where I have more network drives), it cannot access specific folder (this folder is not on local hard disk).
It does not refresh view after I click on specific folder and it slows down. However if I click back arrow, it will return regularly and I am able to open neighbor folders without any problem.
All ideas are welcome...

Macos X changes Folder view of other folders

When i open a folder and set it from ICON view to LISt view... I looked at other folders and i noticed those folders change too. This is a weird bug. Doesn't bother me that much but it does bother .
I'm using macos x 10.6.2

People kept complaining about not being able to set a universal view for their folders. So Apple responded with a new way of handling folder views. I don't think much of it, but no one asked me.
Anyway, now when you want a folder to always open in a specific view you have to explicitly set it using View Options for the folder, and checking the box at the top. Otherwise whatever view you last used will be used for all folders you open after you choose the view, unless the folder has a specified view.

Search specific folder

I have an O365 SharePoint site and withing the pages library, I have several sub folders. How can I configure a search results web part to display results from a specific folder of the pages library? Moreover, the folder name comes from a query string parameter.
I tried things like
Path:{QueryString.myQS} but that didn't work. Any suggestions please.

How do I move multiple emails from Inbox to a specific folder?

I have left a lot of emails in my Inbox that should have been moved to specific folders. How do I move them in bulk to their specific folders other than moving each one individually. I have highlighted the messages concerned by searching and then selecting all. I then click on move to....
Nothing seems to be happening....I'm sure there's probably a step I'm missing here. What would it be??
A similar problem occurs when I want to do a mass delete of emails from a specific sender....

I did all that and nothing happened. As it happens, I did manage to deal with the problem, but in a rather convoluted and tedious manner. I went into Edit, Find, and Search messages, typed in the criteria and the messages I wanted moved came up. However, there was no option to "Select All" so I had to highlight each one and then move the lot to the specific folder....that also worked for the delete problem. That is a workable solution to my problem, but the lack of a "select all" option made it very time consuming. However, I guess it's a notice to me to remember to sort my emails more often.
