Specific OID for A radio modules on 1200 series access points

Is there a specific OID for A radio module cards of the following type:
Flap - AIR-RM21A-A-K9
Dipoles - AIR-RM22A-A-K9

No switches in Cisco's current product line provide enough power to support both radio modules in the 1200 series. The (now optional) power injector for the 1200 will provide enough inline power for both radios, if that is an acceptible option.
Cisco has plans for several switches that will be able to provide inline power to both radios, but I am not aware of ETA's on these.

  • Symbol Netvision Phone w/Cisco 1200 series Access Point

I am running 802.11b access point my phone can associate and get an ip address from my call manager but I keep getting "not registered" "registered". I and then I lose association to the access point. I have 2 vlans on one access point one for voice and one for data. Please let me know if someone has a work around or a fix.

    Stan,
Sounds like you have an interference problem.
What did your site survey show up in terms of other AP's and overlapping coverage areas ? Try a new channel that has the 2 channel separation from other busy channels and maybe even try a new/better placement of the AP
effectivly what you have now is the equivalent of pulling out the cable and plugging it back in constantly on a standard IP phone this means you will not be able to make calls
What firmware you running on the AP ?

  • Cisco aironet 1200 Series access point dropping clients

We are having an issue where our Cisco Aironet 1220 Series AP is constantly dropping clients. We have 3 APs mounted on a single tower, all out of each others range and freq. There are approximatly 30 clients on each AP. We are noticing an increase in dropped customers (up to 20 at a time). ANy suggestions? This only became an issue in the last few weeks, and nothing major has changed.

    Hi
Even I was facing almost the same kind of problem. But in my case it was wired clients to the workgroup bridge 350.
I had done lot of testings and reading at that time to resolve this problem.
However in your case I feel your problem can be resolved by keeping the option "Reliable multicast for Workgroup bridges" disabled in the APs under dot11radio interface settings. This is possibly because the radios cannot associate to more than 20 clients at a time if the option is in the enable mode.
You need to keep this option enabled in a root bridge when you have problems of dropping the wired clients to the workgroup bridge.
By keeping this option enabled, you are actually asking the Root bridges to consider the Workgroup bridges as Infrastructure devices and not as clients thereby making the roots to send all the multicasts to the WGBs. However in that case it losses the efficiency of associating more than 20 clients.
Let me know if this resolves your problem.

  • OID for AGM/ADM modules

I have 4 modules 2 AGM and 2 ADM install in 7609, I need to integrate this information to a system of monitoring as FMS, one requires the detail of the OID, and the value of the variable that is required to manipulate (to show in alert status).
Unfortunately in Cisco I have not found this level of details.

I don't know if this works on a 7609 (worth a try) but on my ASA5510 there is a hidden command:
    show snmp-server oid
It lists every OID available to use.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mib for reading/setting RF channel on standalone Access Points

Hei Everybody.   Does anybody know if there is a SNMP mib sfor reading/setting RF channel and other RF-parameters on 1131AG standalone Accesspoints. In my network we are  using the "least congested frequency"  choice for Channel selection and wants to se what the result for this is.
    Regards, Roy

"Least Congested Frequency" does not work.... either set your AP's to a specific channel or only highlight channels 1, 6, or 11.  You can use a mib browser to seethe mib listing... this link migh help... son't know if its different from the 1131AG:

  • Recomended ios for 1200 series?

Any suggestions for most stable and bugfree ios to use on the AP1200 series?
For me it looks like the 12.3(8)JEA3 should be ok after reading about caveats in the release notes. Only something about shared authentication in non-native vlans and two other minor things. Our setup has 8 ssids with 4 of them with wpa-psk authentication that works ok with this version.
Its a little confusing wich version to choose with all that numbers and release dates.

Only some versions can be upgraded:
For all IOS-based 1200  series modular access point (1200/1220 Cisco IOS Software Upgrade, 1210  and 1230 AP) platforms, it depends on the radio:
    –if 802.11G, MP21G and MP31G are supported
    –if 802.11A, RM21A and RM22A are supported
The 1200 series access points can be upgraded with any combination of supported radios: G only, A only, or both G and A.

    Hi Nassem,
    It looks like you ended up with a Lightweight AP (LAP Part#) instead of an IOS AP. This can be fixed;
Reverting the Access Point Back to Autonomous Mode
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/prod_technical_reference09186a00804fc3dc.html#wp161272
You can convert an access point from lightweight mode back to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS Release that supports autonomous mode (Cisco IOS release 12.3(7)JA or earlier). If the access point is associated to a controller, you can use the controller to load the Cisco IOS release. If the access point is not associated to a controller, you can load the Cisco IOS release using TFTP.
Using a TFTP Server to Return to a Previous Release
Follow these steps to revert from LWAPP mode to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS release using a TFTP server:
Step 1 The static IP address of the PC on which your TFTP server software runs should be between 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.30.
Step 2 Make sure that the PC contains the access point image file (such as c1200-k9w7-tar.122-15.JA.tar for a 1200 series access point) in the TFTP server folder and that the TFTP server is activated.
Step 3 Rename the access point image file in the TFTP server folder to c1200-k9w7-tar.default for a 1200 series access point, c1130-k9w7-tar.default for an 1130 series access point, and c1240-k9w7-tar.default for a 1240 series access point.
Step 4 Connect the PC to the access point using a Category 5 (CAT5) Ethernet cable.
Step 5 Disconnect power from the access point.
Step 6 Press and hold MODE while you reconnect power to the access point.
Step 7 Hold the MODE button until the status LED turns red (approximately 20 to 30 seconds) and then release.
Step 8 Wait until the access point reboots, as indicated by all LEDs turning green followed by the Status LED blinking green.
Step 9 After the access point reboots, reconfigure it using the GUI or the CLI.

  • 1200 Series - Tagged Management VLAN Traffic

    Hi,
As per my understanding the 1200 Series Access points running IOS (12.2(15)XR) send the management traffic (RADIUS,Accouting NTP etc) un-tagged i.e. using VLAN 1.
As per our current setup, we assign this un-tagged traffic to a different VLAN (by changing native vlan to x for the Trunk Port) on the cisco switch.
Is it possible to configure the Access Point to send Management Traffic as tagged with a particular VLAN id ? (Similar to what it does for Wireless Traffic, when SSID are associated to specific VLANs)
We are trying to set this up with a 3-Com 4400 series switch i have been unable to configure the 3-Com switch, so that it can assign the untagged traffic to different VLAN instead of VLAN 1.
    Regards \\ Naman

Changing the Native VLAN doesn't make a difference. I can create any VLAN and make it native but management traffic is still being sent un-tagged.
Below was the setup i tested
    AP--->Trunk Link<->Switch Port(Native VLAN=15)
    Switch Port --->Trunk Link<->Router with VLAN15
I can make any VLAN as native VLAN on the AP and it doesn't effect the functionality as long as the Switch Native VLAN matches to the corresponding VLAN on the router.

  • IOS to LWAPP for 1130AG Access Points

We have initially installed IOS-based 1130 APs. If we would be upgrading it to LWAPP mode, could we pushed IOS-to-LWAPP upgrade thru the network? what procedures are required?

    Hi Leopoldo,
    This is possible and fully supported and can be done using the "LWAPP Upgrade Tool". Have a look at the following;
    LWAPP Upgrade Tool Troubleshoot Tips
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_tech_note09186a008072d9a1.shtml
Access points must run Cisco IOS Release 12.3(7)JA or later before you use the upgrade tool.
    System Requirements
You can use the Autonomous to Lightweight Mode upgrade tool to install Cisco IOS Release 12.3(11)JX on these access points:
All 1100 series access points containing MP21G (802.11g) radios
***All 1130, 1230, and 1240 series access points
All modular 1200 series access points running Cisco IOS software and containing these supported radios:
    802.11g: MP21G, MP31G
    802.11a: AIR-RM21A-x-K9, AIR-RM22A-x-K9
All 1300 series access points in access point mode
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/ios/release/notes/b311jx1.html
Cisco has released a free tool called the "Autonomous to Lightweight Mode Upgrade Tool" that allows selected Cisco Aironet autonomous access point models to be configured for lightweight mode operation.
The Autonomous to Lightweight Mode Upgrade Tool supports the following models:
Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series access points
Cisco Aironet 1230AG Series access points
    Cisco Aironet 1200 Series access points that contain 802.11g (AIR-MP21G-x-K9) and/or second-generation 802.11a radios (AIR-RM21A-x-K9 or AIR-RM22A-x-K9)
Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series access points
**Cisco Aironet 1100 Series Access Points that contain 802.11g radios (AIR-AP1121G-x-K9)
Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Access Points/Bridges (AIR-BR1310G-x-K9 or AIR-BR1310G-x-K9-R). A Cisco Aironet 1300 Series operating in Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) mode only operates as an access point. This series does not support LWAPP bridging mode.
The Autonomous to Lightweight Mode Upgrade Tool supports a process to migrate an autonomous access point from autonomous mode to lightweight mode. Unlike a VxWorks to Cisco IOS Software upgrade, this process is a Cisco IOS Software upgrade to the existing Cisco IOS Software image-not an operating system "swapout". In converted access points operating in lightweight mode, Cisco IOS Software continues to run on the access point, while LWAPP is used to communicate with a wireless LAN controller. Since LWAPP supports automatic access point configuration, there is no need to retain or convert the original autonomous Cisco IOS Software access point configuration.

  • Which access point is better for hospital environments?

    Folks,
I have a customer in hospital, who requires to have wireless deployed everywhere. The fact is , customer is budget concious, so I designed in such a way to place it in corridors , so that wireless coverage could get inside the rooms, but the doors are fire-proof which blocks RF .
What are the best practices in deploying AP's in hospital, for eg: is it safe to install AP's next to Medical Imaging Room or other devices which may cause interference
Which model is suitable for this sort of installation?
    Thanks,
    SID

    Hi SID,
Please consider in your budget for a Wireless LAN Site Survey. WLAN Site Survey will allow you to better understand WHERE to deploy your AP's and HOW MANY AP's to deploy. When deploying an AP, also bear in mind for AP failures. You can address this issues with either keeping "spare" stocks or putting additional AP's per floor so when an AP would fail, the WLC will calculate and increase the transmission power to cover the loss of an AP.
In regards to what models to buy, I'd recommend looking at the 1140 or the 1250. These AP's are geared up for Draft N (2.0 Ratified).
For AP's that are geared up for 802.11N (Draft 2.0):
Data Sheet Cisco Aironet 1140 Series Access Point
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps5678/ps10092/datasheet_c78-502793.html
Data Sheet Cisco Aironet 1250 Series Access Point Data Sheet
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps5678/ps6973/ps8382/product_data_sheet0900aecd806b7c5c.html
If you are going to choose the 1250, note that the Antennaes are optional. Here's some information regarding them.
Antenna Product Portfolio for Cisco Aironet 1250 Series Access Points
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps7183/ps469/at_a_glance_c45-513837.pdf
The AP1250, when operating with 2 radio modules on Autonomous IOS, requires a minimum of 18.5 watts (ePoE). So you'll need either a Power Injector or PoE switch that will support enhanced PoE such as the 3560-E or 3750-E.

  • Mail for Exchange - Access Point question

    Hello,
When setting up Mail for Exchange, you need to input the Access Point.  I cannot find an option to select "Ask for Access Point" or something along that line.
I use wireless access points and when I go from one spot to another I have to change my settings just to sync.
Does anyone know of an option, if not how could I file for a feature request?

The specific problem can be resolved. How did you hard reset your phone? You should hard reset your phone (some key combination which I cannot remember, press four keys simultaneously). Then format mass memory. Reinstall the firmware. Otherwise let Nokia Care reflash your phone. I had issues with freezes when I hung up a call, but that was resolved when Nokia Care reflashed my phone.
My phone is currently broken, so I cannot help you further.
