Specific Processor Info

My wife and I are interested in the new MacBook Pro for our business (2.93 processor version). However, we like to look up the individual processor specs on Intel's website before purchasing any computer -- desktop or laptop.
Unfortunately, these specifications on the processor do not include the exact model number, at least not on the official Specs page:
http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs.html
When I have attempted to get the exact processor model number/info in the past from Apple, they have been reluctant to provide this information. I must admit that I found this to be quite strange, especially when every other computer manufacturer -- low-end to high-end -- will tell you exactly which processor you are buying.
Does anyone know how to get this exact processor info? Furthermore, why does Apple feel the need to hide this processor info?
Thanks in advance!

I don't know why anyone would want all the exact specifications for each processor in a machine, unless of course you frequent let's share all our CPU knowledge parties.
This should be a more valuable task in regards a potential purchase than analyzing full specifications and basing your purchase on them. At least by trying the machine before hand you can see how the hardware and software respond to each other in real terms rather than what may look impressive on paper.
Wow, that's a pretty smarmy response to a legitimate question. I think that any normal person would understand that the person asking the question wasn't asking about a processor serial number.
I also wondered whether it was a typo on Intel's site when I came across this same topic in another thread back in January. I was under the impression that all the Core 2s were 64 bit as has been mentioned, but when this topic came up, I went to Intel's site and saw the "64-bit NO" statement.
After dropping a LOT of money on a new Macbook Pro with 2.93 GHz, I would have been VERY disappointed if it turned out that the processor was a lame-o 32 bit. And given today's very common vendor attitude of "you didn't read the micro-fine print so it's not our fault", I believe that this thread is not only legitimate but deserves a response that isn't smug and condescending like yours was.
Furthermore, I personally don't understand why you WOULDN'T be interested in knowing what processor is in your machine unless you frequent "let's-throw-a-lot-of-money-away-without-knowing-what-we're-buying" parties, and your assertion that it's somehow unreasonable to be interested in what you're getting for your money is completely out of line, IMO.
I'm glad that you are satisfied with the Macbook Pro purchase that you made without full information, however Just because you hold a particular opinion doesn't mean that the rest of the world is obliged to share it.

  • Finding Specific Hardware Info on MacBook Pro

Hey-- I have been astounded by the wealth of knowledge on these boards, so I thought I'd try again at asking a question about my mac.
I have a 15" MacBook Pro (Original) that I am trying to sell on Craigslist, because I recently bought myself a newer laptop and have no use for the old computer (and the Apple Store attendant who helped me recommended selling it on CL).
However, I do not have the original paperwork that came with the computer-- only the Install DVDs. Is there any way to find out all the specifications that a MacBook Pro (Original) 15" came with so I can most effectively post my advertisement? Things like processor info, memory, harddisk space, etc. etc.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Finding the Processor info

    Hi,
I have just bought a 2nd hand iBook and i wnat to verify a few things about it. First, it is supposed to have an 800MHz PowerPC G3 processor. But when I click on "About This Mac" under the Apple logo, the window that opens only says "PowerPC G3". There is no mention of its speed. Also, there is no "More Info" button to allow me to view more information.
It has OS X on it. I think it is OS X 1.1 but I'm not sure. I need to verify this too.
Could someone please tell me another way to find this information. I have not used a Mac for about ten years and they have changed a lot since then - - so I have no idea where to look.
    Many thanks,
    Dom
    iBook G3   Mac OS X (10.0.x)

Hi, Dom. Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Go to Applications > Utilities > System Profiler. Click on disclosure triangles until you see what you're looking for.
If it's running OS X 10.1.x, then it doesn't have an 800 MHz processor.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25517
If it is running that version of the OS, then it likely has a 500 MHz or 600 MHz processor with either a 10 GB or 15 GB hard drive (unless the hard drive has been upgraded).
There should be a label with the serial number under the keyboard and/or in the battery bay. It should also give you an indication of the specifications.

You can also check out specifications on the various iBook models at EveryMac.com.

  • Want to buy Photoshop Lightroom 4, but the tech specs ask for specific processors?

    Hi all,
I'm thinking of buying product listed in question, but the tech specs for it says that I need either "Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® 64 processor", but I have intel inside core i5 processor.
Will Photoshop still work, or are the processors listed on the tech specs just the best processors for it?
    Thanks.

Those are minimum specs. Your i5 based machine should be fine.

  • Question about Processors???

    Hi there
This is just a question on the posibilities first!
We have EHP3 here and using EIC.  We have HR Queries going to a certain Org Unit within EIC and anyone under that Org Unit can process, but once the Web Request is converted to an Activity, saved and Ended, then anyone who is in that Org Unit should still be able to process, but we are getting a message about not being able to process.  We would like anyone in HR to be able to process any EIC, even though its assigned to a specific Processor?  Any ideas on this one?
    Gary

    Hi Ravi
Thanks for that....  I got the data wrong...  Try this again
    Our example Org Unit
    80000300 HR
    80006084 HR Operations
    80006085 HR Operations Team 1
All our EIC queries come into OU 80000300 and anyone in that org unit and below (80006084 and 80006085) can process. For example an EE in 80006085 takes the activity and becomes the processor. Now anyone in 80006084 and 80000300 needs to take that activity and become the processor. They get this message " Info: You can only create notes or add contacts for this activity"
I hope this makes better sense.
The EIC profile is assigned to all org units, as the inbound / outbound emails are be different.
In OOSB, they are not assigned to a struc auth (in QA or DEV) but are in PROD.  HR Claim they used to be able to do this, but Im not sure how
Any help on this would be great....

In fact T5750 means Core 2 Duo 2GHz with 2MB cache and 667 Mhz bus, is better to close search with T5750 if it is the specific processor, if not simply with 2Ghz do the work
The only way is asking to vendor or another owner of the your lenovo model required, tell them that read the "TYPE" code, starts with 0769-XXX which XXX is a letters and/or numbers that specify your model required

  • General labels in List view vs specific gps data

I am hoping someone can explain how one can have specific gps info and useful labels at the same time. My iphone will tag photos that I take on Kauai, and many of those photos will be in places that iphoto cannot name with any greater detail than "Kauai". This results in having photos with a "Kauai" place name for photos taken very far apart. It's unclear to me whether all iphone-tagged photos automatically show up somewhere in the Places List View, but I do know that many of my auto-tagged photos will be labeled "Kauai", which is not specific enough. Does iphoto still know the difference between a westside photo and an eastside photo even if both have "kauai" as their label?
To remedy this, I could go into an event and label all the photos in that event "Hanalei", based on Places I've listed manually, but if I do this, all photos for that event are shown at a single location, losing the specific GPS info for each individual photo. I thought if I created a place like "Hanalei" and gave it a wide circle, that iphoto would automatically put any photos that were tagged within that circle into the Hanalei list. And perhaps it does that while maintaining it's "Kauai" label.
Can a photo come up under many manually defined circles, while still maintaining it's specific GPS location?

It seems that about 5% of the pics from my iphone create GPS locations that are off.....some by a mile...some by alot more than that. So, yes, using the photo's info window....i drag the pin to correct those. I wasn't aware that everytime i did this i was creating new manual placename. If that's true, that will result in alot of places called "Kauai".
I'm asking many of these questions because in the Places List View, I have so many duplicate names in columns 3 and 4 that it renders the whole interface nearly worthless. I'm surprised there aren't tons of people with this problem.

  • Purchase info record for material groups

    Hi all,
We have purchase info records for material groups, not material specific. When I create and activate integration model for these info records, no info record is sent to APO. Is there a way to create Transportaiton Lanes automatically in APO?
    Regards,
    Jenny

    Hi,
In APOPurchase info record is transfered as external procurement relationship.
Generally Transportation lanes are created automatically for plant to plant transfer when you define special procurement key in MRP view of material master accordingly.
In case of T. lane for vendor, automatic generation may not work. Still you may try using correct special procurement key + material specific vendor info record..
    Thanks,

  • Can i upgrade my dual 1.8 G5 processors?

was wondering if i can upgrade my dual 1.8 G5 processors to dual 2.5.
is it something i can do or am i stuck with my current set up? if so what can i do to speed it up? i have 2GB ram. new 500GB HD with the current 80GB hard drive.

Out of curiosity, what is the limitation for the upgrades? Does each logic board get "calibrated" for a specific processor type?
The bus speed on the motherboard is fixed, and the G5 processor runs at double the bus speed. Therefore, each motherboard can only be used with one specific CPU speed. So, you can only "upgrade" the processors by replacing the motherboard as well.

  • OS X 10.4 Install Disc: model specific?

    Hi!
My beloved PowerBook G4 was stolen last year, but i still have the "Mac OS X Install Disc" 1&2, installation discs that came together with the computer.
Would these discs, should i ever need it, eventually work in my Intel-based MacBook Pro?
Are the discs model-specific, processor-specific, computer-specific or whatever other -specificity available?
    Thanks for reading,
    Julio.

Install disks are model specific, but more to the point OS Tiger was never released as a retail package for Intel Macs.
Only the original Tiger install disks that came with the first Intel Macs will work.
The install disks you have are PPC only.
Depending on how old your MacBook Pro is, you would not in any case be able to install Tiger if that MacBook Pro originally came with Leopard:
Don't install older versions of Mac OS than what came with your computer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2186?viewlocale=en_US
So, consign Tiger to the history books where it belongs!
