Specified cast is invalid while doing gre restore within sharepoint

Hallo,
When we try to do a GRE restore from our sharepoint environment, we receive the error Specified cast is not valid.
We are using hp dp 9.0 build 100, sharepoint 2013 v 15.0.4569.1506.
Cell mgr: windows 2008 r2 ent (6.1 build 7601 sp1)
SP Sql srv : W2012R2 (6.3 build 9600) – SQL 2012
SP applic : W2012R2 (6.3 build 9600)
The problem occurs in a newly created environment, with any random component we try to restore.
I don’t know where to look further. It seems an sql issue, but the gre is started from within the sharepoint environment.
As backup software we use hp dataprotector. When I google it seams an sql related error, but no idea what to adjust or change or... If I execute the restore as the sp_farm user or my
own user (I’m farm admin, local admin on the servers and backup admin in dataprotector) I receive the same error message.
A sql backup and restore works fine. Can anyone point me to the right direction? or someone who had the same issue?

While doing MIGO transfer within plant (movement type 311), any user is able to change the batch and can assign new batch no.The process is as under.
T.Code-- MIGO
M.type --311
Go in Transfer posting tab.
In "From selection",
Select Material and that material will be displayed in Destination selection automatically and can't be change.
Select Plant and that plant will be displayed in Destination selection automatically and can't be change
Select Storage location(from where material to be transfered) and we have to select storage location in "destination selection" where material is to be transfered.
Same way Select Batch No in from selection and indestination selection batch is not coming automatically and we can give any batch no.So we do not want to allow this change and the batch no must remain same as selected in "from selection".
Now how can i solved the problem and please suggest is there any role of abapers in this case and if yes then which concept we have to followed.This is standard program of sap so access key may be needed.So please guide me on above topics.

I have C# dll which is invoked through a C++ cgi executable which is deployed on apache 2.2. I am getting the following error when I am trying to access the private key of a certificate which is stored in the Localmachine store. It works fine while
debugging in visual studio.
It also works fine when I try to access the same certificate from the current user store through apache.
I have tried running apache as "SYSTEM", even then I get the same error.
I have followed the right process to import the certificate into the localmachine store through mmc.

The above error is not really helpful as it doesnt tell me which path is invalid as I am not passing any path in my code. I am just accessing the certificate through the X509Certificate2 store

This is probably because the worker process identity does not have read permission to the machine key store.
And I agree with you. "The specified path is invalid" is a typical misleading message.
You may need to clarify the difference between "SYSTEM- User" and "Current-user "through apache. Good Luck!

RUNAS account - Specified Cast is invalid.

When I attempt to look at the properties of a RUNAS account for SQL Server alerting / monitoring which I recently updated to add a new sql server in the distributionl, I get the following error.
Eventually it will come up but the distribution list of servers is no longer populated.
Any ideas?

We are facing an issue while doing DB Restore .
Our present SAP Environment is
OS-Windows 2003
DB-MSSQL Server 2005 SP3
SAP -XI3.0 SP19
and we are trying to do a copy of our development server to new environment
OS- Windows 2008 R2
DB-MSSQL Server 2005 SP3
SAP -XI3.0 SP19
We have done CI and DB installation(standard installation).
Now trying to do DB Restore .For that , we took Full DB backup file *.bak of current development system .Selected "Overwrite the existing Database" and "Leave the database ready to use by rolling back uncommitted transactions.Additional transactional logs cannot be restored (RESTORE WITH RECOVERY)" options in SQL Server Studio DB restore option and now facing the error
" Restore failed for Server '<Our server>(Microsoft.sqlserver.smo)

Possibly this backup file is corrupted; try verifying it by triggering a command like (check before in Books Online):
restore verifyonly from disk='<path><backupfile>.bak'

Specified cast is not valid exception

I have the following C# code (cut down for the post) that causes an exception (Specified cast is not valid) when I attemp the GetInt32 method call. FILE_HDR is a BLOB and I can read it just fine with GetBytes. This also happens on something like TO_NUMBER(FILE_ID, 'XXXXXXXX'). It seems like things do not work well when you define a column as a function. I can do this same thing with the MySQLDataReader without any problem.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here?

I have Sql management studio 2014 SP1 and im working with my Azure SQL Databases.
Previously all my databases and servers were on Sql Server 11.0 and thing were working fine, until a couple of days ago; 1 database on a server started throwing the specified cast is not valid error when you try to use management studio to Script table as.....
and today all (3) of my databases on (different) servers are throwing that error
Earlier today I upgraded 1 of the servers to the latest azure sql database 12.0.2000.8 (it took a while since it can take up to 24 hours); and can verify that the same script table as... or any management studio function that will generate scripts, like
Generate Scripts task does not throw this error.
The issue with v11 started happening a few days ago and is now on all my v11 databases; management studio will not generate scripts., wanted to submit this as a bug., but there is no easier way to do so.

I'm also running into this exact issue with V11 and SQL Server Management Studio -- table "Generate Create Script" fails with "Specified
cast is not valid. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)". This just started happening recently with V11 and doesn't manifest with V12. I'm running SSMS with latest hotifxes (CU6 I believe). I don't have the option of an immediate move to V12.

Hi,
To solve this you must update your studio. In lower studio versions (PlanViz) does not allow "unknown" XML tags sent by higher version servers. A fix for this issue was made so that PlanViz parser can simply skip unknown tags.
Please go to version 74, if possible.

After updating my iPad 3 from iOS 7.0.6 to 7.1 I can't do anything. It constantly reboots while trying to restore backup. Epic Fail!

My attempts to update my ipad 3 to IOS 7.1 via iTunes on my Mac Pro has essentially bricked it. I carefully made a backup before doing the update but its of little use. The iPad installs the firmware update and reboots and asks about the backup to restore and begins the sync. But, it reboots about 20 times while trying to restore the beast.
It is a 64 gb ipad and was pretty full so retrying to restore from backup is taking 6 hours each time. Maddening!
I've spent months setting it up. The thought of restoring as NEW is so depressing.
The initial attempt I did over night was just unusable this morning. I couldn't get past the Apple Logo. I finally gave up and put it into recovery mode and redid it a second time. It must have rebooted 20 times while copying all the apps and media back. It made it but was then useless again after being disconnected from the Mac.
I then tried once again and aborted it after it was rebooting again constantly during the restore from backup.
It seems to be OK thru the firmware install but it can't seem to use my backup. I'm going to try and restore as NEW just to see if it will work at all. At that point maybe I'll try and manually restore the backup so I don't lose all that organization.
Anyone got any better ideas? I'm refusing to thing about "upgrading" my iphone 5 until I see how this comes out....

I finally decided to turn this annoyance into an opportunity. After a lot of experimenting I found that my iPad was just fine under 7.1 if I simply restored it as new. I have a lot of time on my hands and I had 1424 apps on my iPad! This is why every attempt to restore took so long.
I decided to restore as new, spend a day restoring the apps I really used. Doing so gave me a quick iPad with only bout a quarter of the storage used.
Granted it was a pain in the arse, but I wrote it off as in the old days when you had to do this with windows 95 just to keep a stable system.
I DO have some data in a few files of the now unused backup but a quick google search finds a couple Mac programs out there that will allow you go extract audio recordings, app data files etc. from the backup. I'll do that someday if I even miss the files I've probably forgotten that are there.
Anyway, there was nothing wrong with my hardware. I think there were just some troublesome setup items that 7.1 didn't like. Once set up as new, the ipad was fine.
