Specify a default iMessage address?

Hi,
I have a friend who has a Mac, and iPad and an iPhone. She has her iPhone set to only receive iMessage via her phone number, while her Mac and iPad will receive via her Email address.
What I've been finding lately is that whenever I send her a message, I can't guarantee it's getting to her phone because sometimes - seemingly randomly - it defaults to sending to her Email address instead, which as I said doesn't go to her phone.
I do often simply open the last conversation we had in the Messages app and reply to it there, so I wondered if that was what it was - it simply replied to the last place I received a message from her via - but then even when  explicitly chose to send a message to her number, and then she replied and I replied again, it'd still go to her Email. This means that on occasion she is missing texts I send because if it goes to her Email and she is not by her Mac or her iPad is out of WiFi range, she doesn't get the message.
Short of splitting her contact into two - one for Emails and one for phone - is there a way to get iMessage to default to sending to a specific address? Since its most likely she'll be reachable via her phone number, that's where I'd like messages to go most of the time unless I have some reason to explicitly specify otherwise.
Or can I get the Messages app to display the thread between her Email and the thread with her phone separately rather than combining them?
F

This one is complicated...
Why don't you just use email ??

  • How to default an address number delivery address in the PO item

    Hi All,
I have some combination of certain Material / Vendor / Delivery address.
I have created some address numbers from transaction MEAN.
I can successfully assign these in PO detail manually. Then the address gets updated from it
for plant or storage location if specified.
What I need to know is how to "default" this address number in the PO detail.
I couldn't fine appropriate field in info record, but I have a feeling that it should be possible.
Could anyone help me on this please?
    Thanks,
    ATO

    Hi Nadia,
    Thank you for your reply.
The plan is that storage location gets default on the PO by material master setting.
I have configured the storage location address, so this defaults in the delivery address tab.
This storage location is our warehouse to receive goods.
Sometimes we delivery goods directory to the vendor without receiving into the warehouse.
In this scenario, we are using the address number to print the vendor address on the PO output.
The combination of material and vendor is unique when we need to deliver directory.
So the expectation is to default this address number in this certain case.
Do you mean this will be possible without user exit?
    Thanks,
    ATO

  • How to set Default email address(TBU if email of approver is not available)

    Hi,
We are using oracle purchasing (11.5.10). We have observed that whenever a requisition goes for approval, it goes to a definite email id, in case a member in the chain does not have the email specified in "Users". Can someone please assist where do we set this default email address?
    thanks
    abbas

Actually the notification PO APPROVE PDF should error out (MAIL_STATUS as ERROR) as the email is not found. I am not exactly sure on how we can redirect but am sure that you can forward the notifications to a generic user account like testworkflow (this is typically done by DBA).
If you are OK with customization of POAPPRV WF then try modifying the Notify Approver Business event to pick a generic email address when a fnd_user email address is not found.
Keeping these things aside is it not a easy way to query for the null email id's in fnd_user and update them appropriately?

  • Cannot make default email address to work

I have two email accounts configured into my iPad. One a pop account and the other gmail account. I have set the default email address to be from my pop account. Whenever I send out an email, even from a reply to my pop account address - the out going reply shows my gmail address, instead of the default pop account address. I have tried almost everything to get this to work properly - but just can't.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    cammot

Try going to the default account Settings > Mail and delete the account you have specified as the default.
Then Settings > Add account and reenter the information by hand. Make sure you enter the outgoing server information carfully, user information such as password, and then specify that as the default.
When you enter the password, watch the characters as you type, they appear in plain text for a second or two before becoming dots.
    See if that helps.

  • Default delivery address parameter in ME21N

    Hi all.
If I have a delivery address number specified, I have to manually put it in every PO I create - is there any way of making this delivery address number default? Perhaps there is a parameter for this? It would be nice to be able to use the address number as default instead of the plant address.

I have come across this issue as well and was looking for a solution, since we have a scenario where 2 different buildings are represented by a single storage location.  So even if we put 2 addresses on the storage location in configuration, the default will just be the first address in configuration.  As has already been mentioned, there is no link between either purchase organization or material and a default delivery address, and SAP does not provide a parameter ID on the address field in the PO.
A possible solution appears to be the creation of your own parameter ID, which is then assigned to the delivery address data element (ADRN2).  If that is done, then a user may enter a default address number as a parameter ID in their user setup.  Note that this is a development activity, and some may consider it a customer modification because you are making a change to a SAP standard data element.  However, it is a very small change, and I do not see how it could conflict with an upgrade or application of OSS notes.  The process for doing this is explained in the following forum thread which I found on SDN:
    Error while creating Parameter Id
I am going to pursue this option and see how it comes out.

  • How to set default email address for input

    G'day all
Summary: I'm sick, it's difficult to type, and a combination of autocorrect, default Shift key settings for input fields and my iPad completely ignoring my default email account is making it laborious to input my email address. Help!
(Edit: I had a micro-brainwave and checked my "Me" card in Contacts, since I have Safari set to autofill from that card. My default email address is not listed first in the card. I've now put it on top, Gmail second and "me.com" last. I'll comment later on if I see this help with point 3 below.)
    Details:
I love my shiny new iPad2. I really do. But autocorrect is driving me crrrrrazy when I try to input my email address.
Typing in general is an issue for me, because I am disabled and have difficulties with coordination and movement. On my laptop (MacBook Pro mid 2009), I used TextExpander. It lets you set an abbreviation for any text, so you can just type that abbreviation instead of the whole thing, and TextExpander automagically inputs the whole thing for you.
I have a long email address, because my ISP has quite a long domain name. So only typing 4 characters (my abbreviation) instead of the whole 23 characters was a big help for me.
    Enter the iPad.
I need to use the iPad now, because my laptop is now too heavy for my legs (and I do occasionally need a full-on laptop, so the MacBook Air isn't the solution). The iPad in general has been great for me. The simplification of the interface (while annoying at times, e.g. not being able to view full headers in an email) saves brain cycles, so I can read for longer.
However, where on my laptop I only needed to input 4 chars for my email address, on my iPad I have to input the whole 23 chars. How many places online are you asked to input your email address? Way too many. Safari may eventually catch up and record some of them, but currrently, I'm using too much of my day's energy just on trying to input my email address. (Note: this post is written on my laptop, so I can use my abbreviations.)
TextExpander is available for iOS, but due to Apple's current refusal to allow integration with its apps, TextExpander isn't allowed to input stuff directly. Just like with the indispensable password program 1Password, you have to switch from Safari to the other app., search for and select and copy the text you want, then switch back to Safari, select the field and press Paste.
    Grrr.
I may get desperate enough to go through those steps each time, if things don't improve with my email address. My problems are:
    1. Very few email-address fields in webpages currently have the appropriate settings to instruct the iPad keyboard not to start with the Shift key down. This means every time you try to input your email address, it will start with an upper-case letter.
Half the time I don't notice until I've got part-way through typing my address, so I have to delete all those chars and start again. About a quarter of the time, after deleting, I don't notice that the Shift key has been activated again, so I go through the whole process again.
    2. Even when the email-address field turns off the Shift key, or when I remember to do it myself before entering text, autocorrect will insist on changing the first letter back to upper-case, because my username is also my first name. Cue more deleting and getting confused.
    3. This is the big one: once my username is up there, autocorrect insists on entering my "me.com" email address. This is the email address I use least. When I laboriously (again) delete this text and start again, it will either insist again on "me.com", or input my Gmail address. That is the email address I use second least. Autocorrect never inputs my main email address, set as my default account in the Mail-Con-Cal Settings. (This is a POP-only account.)
    4. Even if I do manage to input my whole email address correctly, autocorrect will insist on capitalizing the first letter of the domain name (which is also a location). Cue yet more deletion and retyping.
Are there any ways to avoid wasting so much energy on trying to input my email address?
Is there any way to set the default input email address? Or to tell the iPad/Safari that an email address field doesn't require the Shift key?
I've had my iPad for nearly three months now, using it for my day-to-day activities, and I've been hoping this problem would gradually go away, that the software would finally catch on to my main email address (from the default account) which I have input over and over (and OVER) into email-address fields.
    Evidently not.
    Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

As Roosevelt suggested, you can turn off Auto Correction in the keyboard settings. Go to Settings>General>Keyboard>Auto Correction>Off.
This will also turn off spell check (unfortunately) and there is no fix for that. Auto Caps can also be turned off as well and so can the keyboard shortcut for the space/period. Frankly, all of these features drive me nuts and I wish the iOS allowed for more control, but it does not.
As fars as typing your email address, be aware that even if you type your email address in all caps it still works. So if Autofill insists on capitalizing the first letter in your name in the email address - and it will insist on doing so - you can just let it go as is and it will still work. Doesn't really get to the heart of the matter but it would save you the laborious deleting and retyping.
Having said that, when the Auto Correction suggests a word or wants to set a capital latter, you can tap the "x" in the pop up suggestion to ignore that word, cap, whatever. The dictionary is then supposed to "learn" your word if you refuse that suggested word enough times. This is another feature that seems to have a mind of it's own at times since sometimes it may take more than a few attempts to get the Auto Correct to not come up and instead allow your chosen word to be freely typed as desired.
Lastly, with regard to your correct email address popping up, that is another case of if repeated time and time again, It should be another case of the iOS "learning" through repetition that your default email should popup when you begin entering the address.
You could try to rectify all of this by resetting all of your settings and clearing Autofill but you would be starting all over again which is something I think you would rather avoid.
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset Keyboard Dictionary
Settings>Safari>Autofill -tap names and passwords>Clear all
As Roosevelt suggested, submit feedback, and I hope you find some resolution to this.
Quick Note - I originally typed this post on my iPad and when I read a few of the words that were substituted by auto correct - I quickly turned to my iMac to change the words. I do feel your pain with regard to auto Correct!

  • How can I change my default email address?

I'm changing to a different ISP, but the default email address in TB is lodged with the old ISP. How can I change the default to one of my Gmail addresses?
    Thanks.

From the menu bar select '''Tools-Account Settings'''
Select the account to make the default.
At the bottom of the account list is '''Account Actions-Set as Default'''
No menu bar? Press the alt key.

  • How can I specify the default tab in a CHM Output?

My company uses CHM-based help for some of its products. We build the CHM files from RoboHelp 9, and while these CHM files don't really have a full Index attached to them, the Index tab shows up in the output anyway. Unfortunately, we are suddenly seeing that when the CHM file is launched from our program, the Index tab is displayed by default. We'd rather have the Contents tab be the default look, especially considering that the Index does not exist.
I have poked around into how you can specify a default tab for a CHM file, and the only information I have found suggests that using a CHM file creates a file (HH.dat) that specifies which tab should be displayed on a user-by-user basis, and that the last tab displayed when you close the CHM should be the first one displayed when you re-open it. While this is true if you open the CHM independent from the product, when you launch it from our program, it's all Index, all the time.
So, my question is: How can I specify the default tab for a CHM file? Or, failing that, how can I excise the Index tab from my CHM output.

    Hi there
This will be something up to your application developer to resolve. When s/he issues the call to open the CHM, there are parameters that may be used to always open with the desired tab "in front".
Point your developer to the link below and advise that s/he is most likely interested in the section titled: Programming Tips.

  • I can't seem to sync my calendar on my iphone to iCal because the default email address associated with my calendar on my iphone was to an old work email address that I no longer have.

I can't seem to sync my calendar on my iphone to iCal because the default email address associated with my calendar on my iphone was to an old work email address that I no longer have. When I go to ICal it asks for the username and password which I no longer have. The calendar is still on my phone (even though the email account is on my phone but doesn't work) Is there a way to copy my calendar to a different email address on my iphone? I have now set the default email account for the calendar to a current email address but I still can't figure out how to merge my iphone calendars, copy the iphone calendar to iCal, or save my iphone calendar to my mac. Also, I read in ITunes to check "sync to ICal" but my  ITunes under my iphone and info just says "Sync Calendars" which doesn't transfer it to iCal when I sync my phone.

  • Iphone Notes - how do I change the default mail address?

This a variation of the question of why my notes FROM the Iphone do not sync into Outlook Notes, anymore.
In my Iphone Notes set up, it refers to my gmail address as the default address.  In my Mail, I have two Outlook addresses, with one being the default mail.
Having found some of my missing notes in my Gmail notes, I now think my problem is in the address.
But I cannot see any way to change my Notes default address to one of my Outlook addresses.  No matter how much I try, a change will not activate.
Question:  what steps do I take to change my Notes default address from [email protected] to [email protected] ?
    Thank you

The default email address can be set via Settings > Notes
Whether an email address will appear on that list will depend upon whether you have notes 'on' for the account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars (select the account on the right-hand side of that screen)

  • HT201342 In Apple Mail, how do I change the default outgoing address for mailboxes that I've set up?

In Apple Mail (Yosemite on a MacBook Pro), the default address for outgoing messages from mailboxes that I've set up that are *not* tied to separate email accounts has suddenly become my iCloud address (which I almost never use). I've got my default set to use whatever address is the default for the mailbox I'm in. This works fine for mailboxes associated with different mail accounts, and until recently it worked fine for mailboxes that I had set up for convenience, using my default email address (which is an Earthlink address I've had for many years). Somewhere within the last year, perhaps with an upgrade to the OS, I've found that outgoing mail from one of those mailboxes (but not from the general Inbox) defaults to my iCloud address. I have to manually choose a different address each time (which is hard to remember to do). This is new behavior, and very unwelcome. But I can see no way to change the default email address associated with each mailbox.
How do I undo this unwanted connection?

    Hi everyone
Sorry however I'm experiencing a similiar issue, in that I have 10 differing email accounts.
However in the default email accounts, for some bizarre reason, only 4 show, being icloud, one of my older yahoo email accounts, my work email and then "From My PC".
I run two other businesses of which I have a proper Google Mail Business Accountsfor each, but non of my google email address show in the default list.
    Is there any reason why?
I actually want one of those to show.
I have put my google mail to the top of the inbox, however it still doesn't show?
I've also put the default calendar as my google business account but still the default account doesn't display.
    Any ideas?
    Jonathan

  • TS1314 How do you change the default location address (in My Pictures) of the IPOD Photo Cache ?

How do you change the default location address (in my pictures) of the IPOD Photo Cache ?

You do no specifically. It sounds like you are syncing a folder to the iPod. In that case:
From a Folder on Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
The iPod Photo Cache will be located in the folder you selected to sync with.
Thus, you have to change the location of the folder you sync with.

  • Default Global Address List

Hello all. Running Exchange 2010 Standard SP3 and I am having a strange issue right now.
My Outlook clients (2010 and 2013) can only see the GAL when in cached mode. For some users they are setup with cached mode turned off and in these cases they cannot see the GAL when opening the address book. If they type in a name it will return that.
Any thoughts on what this could be?
