Hi BG,
In Reporting Services, it would directly convert to =First(Fields!tctccom100_prbp.Value, "Labels") when we insert tctccom100_prbp field to a single textbox. If we want to display the field name as header on the column of a tablix, we can directly type tctccom100_prbp
in the textbox. If we want to display all the field values in the textbox, we should insert the field to detail row or column group in a tablix.
If there are any misunderstanding, please elaborate the issue for further investigation.

Having difficulty creating pdf from XML data source

I have a 'rpt' file built with a classic install of Crystal 10, using xml as a data source. I have tried using both ADO.NET(XML) connection and ODBC CR ODBCXML Driver 4.20.
The rpt file was built on Windows2000 NT platform. The report runs, and displays data from the sample xml file in the preview tab.
I am attempting to feed xml data into the rpt file with the intent to create pdf formatted output. I am using java with the Crystaldecisions packages. I am running this app out of an Apache server on an Ubuntu VM Hardy Heron release. This does not have any version of Crystal Reports installed on it.
I have followed the examples and I am comfortable that I have the correct package imports, I am able to open the rpt file, and convert both the xml and xsd to byte arrays. When I issue the command
reportClientDocument.getDatabaseController().setDataSource(xmlDataSet, '', '')
I get the response
Cannot find corresponding table information in the XML file
Set data source failed: The table 'criminal_case' could not be found.
Request failed and JRC Command failed to be undone
JRCAgent1 detected an exception: The table 'criminal_case' could not be found.

The xsd does validate the xml which contains a noNamespaceSchemaLocation pointer to the xsd.
The xml is the same data that was used to design the report on the NT box. This means that I see the same elements being byte streamed as were used to create the rpt file.
Is this as simple as I am running my webserver on Linux? I do see the connection attribute properties reference a Database DLL that is clearly windows based. What can I do?

So why develop a report if there is no data? I can only think that you have a bunch of static text, maybe an instruction page you want to publish? If so, you still need a data source, it can be a dummy source

Hi,
1) Open the Crystal report with XML datasource connectivity in the Crystal Report designer.
2) Click on File ->Report Options.
3) Uncheck the Verify On First Refresh box.
4) Save the Crystal report.
5) Open this Crystal report in Crystal Report for Eclipse designer and try Executing it again.
Please let me know the results.

Stacked column chart from XML data source

I have an XML file, which lists elements with three
attributes: date, inactive-interval, user-count.
I need to build a stacked column chart with a single column
for each distinct date, one stack for each distinct
inactive-interval for that date, and the height of the stack equal
to the user-count.
I can define ColumnSeries with yField="user-count"
xField="date", but I don't know how to partition the column into
stacks by inactive-interval values.
Here is a sample data set:

Your CategoryAxis id="ha_ccm" uses categoryField="period", and this is the label for the your series (i.e. "Quarter 4/2010"). You cannot have multiple categoryFields for the CategoryAxis; it can only use one data field for the labels. You can use data tips and/or label functions to show the individual series' values on the columns.
Also:
Your labelField in the ColumnSeries are set to a ColumnSet name instead of a field name in your dataprovider.
Font must be embedded if you set ColumnChart.showLabelVertically="true".

Your undersatnding is partially correct. i am working for providing an architecture for XOLAP, XML is one of my data source.
The idea is to generate uniform cubes from heterogeneous sources that can be integrated into a global cube. instead of building Oracle OLAP cubes from all the sources (this work is already done) i want to generate an XCube from XML data sources using XQuery.
On the other hand if we have generated the Oracle OLAP cube from other sources like warehouses or flat files. i have to convert these Oracle OLAP cube into XML cube for uniformity. in an research paper i find that there is an operator Xcube embedded in XQuery which converts the multidimensional data (cube) into XML cube. im looking for the implementation of this operator in Query that how this operator works.

BI Admin Tool and XSLT transformation for XML data source - How it works ?

Hello,
There is a possibility to import data from XML data source using BI Admin Tool.
In the import window we can point XSLT file. What is the purpose of that XSLT field?
Why I am asking ?
I thought it is smth like XSLT processor, but simply it doesnt work.
What I did:
- I pointed XML data source file
- I pointed XSLT transformation file
- Click OK, and still get the message that the XML file structure is not supported
After that I transformed that XML file with some desktop XSLT processor using the same XSLT file, and I tried to connect that file directly using BI Admin tool.Then it works. So it means that the transformation is ok.
So basically one question comes to my mind in that situation:
What is the purpose of XSLT field in BI Admin Tool when it comes to XML data source ?
(it doesnt look like XSLT processor)

Why you need to use XSLT for transforming XML file into ABAP table
Code is a part of some ABAP report. Looks like it is reading a file from file system and updating table after transformation
If you have requirement like you need to read XML file and then insert the data into a SAP table
You can use
File to RFC
File to Proxy scenario using SAP PI.
Please provide more inputs on requirement to help

How to take XML data source from URL?

I creating application which need to download some data from any web page. This page is creating via XSL (as stylesheet) .This XSL
process some XML "data source" and generate HTML page. I wanna ask if exist some way how to take this XML "data source"? If i used
URL and take InputStream I everytime obtain full generated HTML, JavaScript page - compiled by web browser. But if i look to "page
source" of this page in web browser i see just that XML data source which i need to take (only at start of this xml is way to xsl
style sheet).
But this problem i have only at my required page.If i tried to take another page with similar structure code, it was succesful.

How to create a report using XML data source from Crystal Report Designer

Hi,
Iu2019m having Crystal Report Designer XI R2 SP4. Iu2019m trying to create a report using XML data source stored on disk. This is a customer order report and the xml is structured in such a way that it has an order details header part (master) and then it has several order lines (detail). One order line can have several order line characteristics (detail-detail). So what I need to know is now I can design this layout from the designer. If this was done using views I can do it with sub-reports but using xml data this seems to be different. Can you help me to design this layout? I have included the xml and xsd as well.

Thank you for the response and ideas you have given me so far. I can get the fetch the data from the data source without any problem. That is I do the following,
1.     New Report
2.     From Create New Connection-> XML
3.     Provide the u201CLocal XML Fileu201D and have u201CSpecify Schema Fileu201D checked -> Next
4.     Provide the u201CLocal Schema Fileu201D -> Finish
Then I can see the following under XML

Since your are using process order, I would like to know whether you are using process management function or not.
(Especially your are following GMP scenario ? This guide line is basically used pharmaceutical industry.
If you work with GMP scenario, before your are archiving your process order, you need to create electronic batch creation and archiving.
Then you can archive your process order and delete it completely from your system.
You can check whether your are using GMP scenario or not in your process order type.
(T-CD COR4).
If you are not. All you need to do is set deletion flag and deletion indicator to your process order and then archive your process order (you can use program PRARCHP1) by using archiving object PR_ORDER (you can call this object from t-cd sara or COAC).

Using a SQL data source and XML data source in the same template

I am trying to develop a template for the Request for Quote report generated in Apps 11.5.10. I have loaded the data from the XML output into the template, but I am missing one field - I need the org_id from the po_headers table. Is it possible to use a sql data source (i.e., "select org_id from po_headers_all where po_header_id = [insert header_id from xml data]...") in addition to the xml data source to populate the template at runtime? When you use the Insert > SQL functionality is it static at the time the template is created, or does it call to the database at runtime? I've looked through all the docs I could find, but this isn't clear.

Thats a tough one ... if you go custom with a data template you will at least get support on the data template functionality ie you have a problem when you try and build one. You will not get support on the query inside the data template as you might have gotten with the Oracle Report, well you could at least log a bug against development for a bad query.
Eventually that Oracle Report will be converted by development anyway, theres an R12 project going on right now to switch the shipped OReports to data templates. AT this point you'll be fully supported again but:
1. You have to have R12 and
2. You'll need to wait for the patch
On reflection, if you are confident enough in the query then Oracle will support you on its implementation within a data template. Going forward you may be able to swap out your DT and out in the Oracle one without too much effort.

Populating a Crystal Report from XML data

I want to populate a Crystal Report using a XML data structure. Below I have explained what Iu2019m trying to do in detail,
u2022 First I will create a Crystal Report using Crystal Report XI R2 designer by connecting to a Oracle database using a native Oracle connection (not ODBC or JDBC)
u2022 Then I want to write a Java application using CR XI R2 JRC SDK to open this report
u2022 Then to run and populate this report using a XML data structure (which I have separately in a disk location. XSD too is available in disk)
u2022 Then to export this report with data to either PDF or RPT file with saved data in to disk.
The questions I have are,
1. Is this possible to do in away?
2. If so, can you please provide me with a sample code for doing this? I tried some of the other threads in the forum but some had broken links.
3. Do the xml and the xsd needs to be in a special format?
4. Is there any other configuration setting I should do?

What I want to do is to set the data source programmatically to a xml date source from the code. I didnu2019t find anything like that. Is it the same way as setting the database connection information?
Also another question I have is how does a report with two tables work? Say I have a master u2013 detail report (order and order lines). The master part is taken from one table (order_tab) and the detail part is taken from another (order_detail_tab). Do I need to have 2 xmls or is one structured xml sufficient? How will the same work if I have the detail section in a sub-report? Will it work with one or do I need to have two?

Populating a subform from a data source.

I understand that the help file in LiveCycle Designer describes the procedure for connecting fields in a form to columns in a data base. I have tried for several days now to populate simple customer information (name, address, state, zip, phone, fax) from a data base.
I have exported the data into an acess database, created the dsn, created the data connection, an secured the database. I am still getting an error message that says "Connection for Source Data Connection failed because the environment is not trusted." I am trying everything I can think of to create the proper combination of user-level security for the database and proper use of the "connection string", but now I have read in the forums that even upon success of this effort, my fellow employees will not be able to use the form properly unless we purchase "Reader Extension Server"
Is there any way to populate customer data in a form, from a data source, that is compatible with Reader, without buying "extension server"

OLEDB is the only database connection that you can connect to from Designer. Through the use of the Microsoft OLEDB Provider for ODBC Drivers, you can also access databases identified by the ODBC data source name (DSN). You can use OLE drivers other than the Microsoft OLEDB Provider for ODBC, however the form must be certified in Acrobat before it will function at run time.
In Acrobat, security concerns dictate that you cannot specify an ODBC connection string by using the Driver=; syntax. Therefore, the client computer needs a DSN configured for ODBC connections.
If you are using external data sources in a form design that you want users to fill in Adobe Reader, you must set
usage rights for the form by using Reader Extensions Server.
Unfortunately it looks like a direct DB connection requires Reader Extensions. Fortunately you can get Reader Extensions pretty cheap from
FormRouter.
As an alternative you can submit the data to a server script (like ASP) and have it write into the Database. There are plenty of sources for writing ASP for PDF files. Just do a search on this forum, or on the web in general.
