Specify e-mail account for outgoing Calendar invites?

I created a Calendar event on my iPhone, invited a friend, and see that the invite went out on my Exchange e-mail account. I would prefer to use a different e-mail account for outgoing invites. Where do I do that?
Thanks

I've never used my Gmail calendar, and syncing was not turned on. I've just done that, and selected my Gmail address as the "Settings - mail - default account" address. Hopefully that will do the trick!
Thanks, --Chris

  • How do I set up a mail account for an older macbook?

I'm trying to set up a mail account for my dad on a used (but refurbished) macbook. It's running 0SX10.6.8. I'm not sure how to configure the incoming and outgoing mail servers. I didn't have to do this for my macbook air and my brother did not have to do it for his pro. I don't know if im supposed to use POP or IMAP. A window will pop up asking  for the account type, incoming mail server, user name, and password. I don't know what to do from here.

    Hello,
Your Internet/email service provider should be able to tell you exactly what to enter. You may also want to take a look at the following web page:

  • Why can't I use my normal mail account for synching notes

    Hi there,
I maintain my father's iDevices/computers as he has Parkinsons and does not understand the technology behind how these services work. I need to maintain as simple a configuration as possible. As an example calendaring is difficult as new entries are not necessarily put in the calendar he uses and I have to talk him through how to show all calendars on a regular basis. I can't have his mail on IMAP as he cannot manage his mail and his mailbox fills up. I can't simply pay for storage ad infinitum - my local copy of his mail is about 6 GB and growing.
I have seen several discussions where it is clear that we *must* use an icloud.com e-mail account for synching notes via IMAP, but none of them have explained WHY I MUST USE @icloud.com e-mail. If this is an IMAP based service why can't I use any other IMAP server
I see that it is referred to as an "icloud account" but if I have to enable mail, it becomes an e-mail account, which I do not want as it will be confusing if there is an issue with the main mail server (which I maintain) it will present an option to use the icloud.com e-mail as a valid option to send the mail.
I do not turn on the mail option in icloud.. (only calendar, contacts, reminders and find my iphone). I find it dissapointing that this is now what seems to be a "requirement".

That is absolutely unnecessary, but more convenient to have icloud to sync your notes. I use other IMAPs as well and can sync my notes with google and yahoo and icloud(corresponding email is required in all cases). It is your choice and you can pick your poison, but you will find out that icloud is more convenient after you or him will lose his info few times. There is no requirement, you can even use the group that will not sync with anything "on my device" if you disable all of IMAPS. Icloud is just the one that you can call Apple and normally people prefer to work with Apple support way more then with google's or yahoo's, but that is again up to your preference.

  • How to control email account for iCal confirmations/invitations?

I have seen some older discussions on this, but nothing recent and there seemed to be some confusion over whether the email account used by iCal was set in Address Book or in the Apple ID.
In Mountain Lion (or Mavericks, which I'm bound to get soon), how does iCal know which email account from which to send confirmations and invitations?  In other words, where does one go to change the default account used?
Is it possible to set up different accounts for different calendars?  Or (this would be so nice) to get iCal to ASK ME what email account I want to use each time it sends something on my behalf?
    Any insights will be appreciated!

Somehow iCal managed to get ahold of an OLD email address that I didn't even have when I purchased this Mac, which was a couple of years ago. The email it is using is nowhere in my address book. (at least not under my name and when I type it in, nothing appears)
I read something about a "card" but I cannot find the card anywhere except in the iCal help notes. Shame on you Apple! How can something so simple be made so difficult? Why isn't there a place in iCal to go to edit notifications email? Am I the only one who could think this way? Please help.

  • I've an apple ID used to buy off iTunes and a mobileme account for the calendars and contacts. How can I move the calendars and contacts to the older apple ID and use it for iCloud?

I've an apple ID used to buy off iTunes and a mobileme account for the calendars and contacts. How can I move the calendars and contacts to the older apple ID and use it for iCloud?

If you remeber the password to that Apple ID then follow these steps
1 - Make sure you have an email address that is NOT an Apple ID
    2 - Go to AppleID.Apple.com
3 - Where it reads Manage Apple ID - Sign in
Once you are signed in want to make sure the email address you are wanting to use is NOT set up as a "Recovery/Rescue" email for this account.
[To check this - Main page where you see Primary ID - below do you see the email address you want to use listed towards the bottom? Yes - Delete / No - Good ./. If made any adjustments "Save" Next on the left select "Password & Security" - Answer your security questions you set up "if you have any" then scroll towards the bottom and check to see if you see the email address you want to use. Yes - Delete / No - Good] <-> Also you can change your password on this page as well. Any adjustments made "Save"
Once this is done go back to the main page where you should read "Primary ID" and change the email address that is showing to the new email address youo want. "Save" Done
I learned this not to long ago and worked for me. Hope this helps you!

    Hello Ketil,
    Good Day...
Seems to be the Issue is Syncing emails, now I would recommend you to Remove and Add the Account and try and check if the emails are getting synced automatically.
Hope this is with Single User. If it is with Multiple Users then we need to check the permissions assigned.

I've already had to update the dovecot.conf once <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3792>, but I can't tell if this is on the Dovecot side or the OD side.

Many thanks to Apple Enterprise Tech Support.
The access control list for mail was not set to all users and groups.
    To fix:
    (1) In Server Admin, select the server.
    (2) Select the 'Access' panel.
    (3) Select the 'Mail' service'
    (4) Set the radio button to 'Allow all users and groups'.
Previously I'd had mail restricted to 'only users and groups below'.

  • New mail account not syncing calendar...?

We are switching over our mail account from OWA as our company has been sold. We use a company called CourseTrends for all our domain hosting/marketing tools. They use Squirel Mail. I have successfully backed up my emails from OWA to Outlook, and, while not perfect, the data is there. Now, I'm trying to setup my email to my iPhone 6 (and my boss' iPhone 6 Plus). I can get the mail setup, but our calendars do not come over. In settings, the option to sync my calendar isn't even there. I've setup countless emails to my phone from gmail and my own accounts from iPage and Powweb (I know powweb used Squirel Mail, too).
Am I missing something obvious here? Tried to download the outlook app and couldn't get that to sync at all (the more I read, the more I realized that might not be the solution anyway).
    Help, please?

can you receive email on that account? send one to that account from .mac as a test.
what are the outgoing mail server settings, which port are you using, 110? go to mail>preferences>accounts, select that account for which you are having issues, and check the smtp server - outgoing - select it from the list, click edit list and look what the detail info is on both panes, account info and advanced.
i would double check the settings for that account again, making sure they are correct, then if that does not work, i would change the outgoing port and try others that your isp may suggest.
let me know and hope this helps

  • How can I get mail to automatically update calendar invites without actually opening calendar and disrupting my work?

I like mail to continue placing new invitations into my calendar so that I can accept (or reject) them when convenient.  However I would like to be able to work in an application without being disrupted whenever someone sends me lots of invitations.  Is there a way to prevent mail from opening calendar and making it the main screen?
    Thanks.

Most likely the library blocks the ports needed for sending and receiving mail. Check with them.
''some Thunderbird setting that prevents Thunderbird from working, maybe because it considers this a vulnerable network.''
There is no such Thunderbird setting.

  • Setup mail account for MSN hotmail account - HELP!!

How do i set up my msn hotmail account for use in mail??
Can anyone help with the ingoing/outgoing server?
    Please and thankss!!!!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I merely know the tool capable of connection Hotmail to Mac OS X's Mail program:
    httpmail
Hopefully that page will give you enough to get started. It is much easier to setup an IMAP, POP, or Exchange Mail account. If you can get one of those in place of Hotmail, and have your Hotmail mail automatically forwarded to such an account, you'd have a much easier time.

  • Setting up web mail account for OWA

Company just coverted OWA mail to cloud on a Outlook Web App.  Can access via iMAC, but can't set up as mail account on iPad or iPhone.

I've not tested it but if you simply leave the incoming mail server field in the Mail account preferences blank for that account blank but set up the outgoing server and do not check "include when automatically checking new mail" you should be able to send but not receive
OR undo the forward that you have set up from #2 to #1 and use both normally

  • Turn off notifications for declined calendar invites

Do we know if there is a patch for adding the functionality to decline calendar invites without notifying? My work Exchange account has sent me 40 invites and I don't need to notify my boss with 40 emails when I am clearing them out. I tried iCal Reply Checker, but it only works for local calendars, not Exchange accounts.

Try each of the following steps until the issue is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Create a new calendar. Move the unwanted event(s) into it, then delete the new calendar.
    Step 2
If the calendar server has a website, like iCloud or Google, log in to the website and delete the event.
    Step 3
Quit Calendar. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a file named "Calendar Cache" selected.
Move the selected file to the Trash. There may be one or two other files in the same folder with names that begin in "Calendar Cache". If so, delete those files too.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 4
Follow the instructions in this support article, then log out, log back in, and test.
    Step 5
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • I have my @gmail account for iTunes purchases, and my @me account for contacts/calendar, how do I approach iCloud and how will this affect me?

I know accounts cannot be merged. The @gmail account has existed for years before the @me account.
I haven't been able to set up my phone yet because I have absolutely no idea how this will affect me, when it was quite clear before.
How will this affect me in the future? What about when my @me service expires (I had just under a free year left)? What email should I link? What should I be worried about if kept separate or the same as they are now?
I still don't even understand what exactly iCloud does yet. If I set up my phone with whatever my iCloud account is, is it locked in? Since no credit card info or applications or purchases are associated with it, it will be of no use in that area.
I am absolutely confused on what I should do, and after spending 4 hours attempting to update my phone, am still stuck on having a useable device.

This point I don't quite understand. It is clear that:
       1) your additional 20gb are available only up to next summer
        2) the migrated account will be downgraded to a free account then.
        3) the purchased music and apps do NOT count in the 5 gb.
So, I don't know what you need the 20 gb in the "unused AppStore account" for. Your documents and emails are all on the 25 gb account.
I think, you can log into your non-me.com AppleID and change your e-mail address there without loosing what you purchased. So, I wonder what would happen if I put the me.com address there...
    Not sure, I would try...
Regarding the me.com AppleID, you should make sure you have a secondary email account added there, otherwise it might be difficult to recover that account in case you cannot read the me.com email anymore. Interestingly, when I tried to put my non-me.com address there, it complained about that email already used by a different account. So, I guess if you try to put your gmail account there it will complain. So, you probably need a third independant email account....
