  • Need Help Programmatically setting Page Size for printing to Adobe PDF

    We are upgrading from Adobe 5 to Adobe 9.  In Adobe 5, we set a few parameters in the __pdf.ini file to create a document with a specific Page Size.  For Example:
    [Acrobat PDFWriter]
    PDFFileName=
    bDocInfo=0
    Orient=1
    bExecViewer=0
    cpmarginwhole=18
    cpwidepart=0
    cpwidewhole=612
    cpheightpart=0
    cpheightwhole=792
    Paper=0
    Since upgrading to Adobe 9.2, this no longer appears to work.  I have also tried adding these values to the following Registry Locations with no luck:
    HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat PDFWrite
    and
    HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Distiller\PrinterJobControl
    Is it still possible to create a custom page size using this method?  Or am I going to have to do that in a different way?

    Bill, thanks for the quick response.  However, we generate many forms on a daily basis with different page size requirements.  The way this was accomplished through Adobe PDFWriter was by setting the various parameters in the __pdf.ini file for the Document that we are generating.  I believe we have about 7 different page sizes that we generate.

  • How to specify page encoding for XML reports.

    Hi,
    Environment: Apps:11.5.10, Oracle Reports: 10g
    I'm trying to generate XML tags by using a "rdf" report (10g).
    Initially I generated the XML tags before moving the report to server. In the output file I got
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="WINDOWS-1252"?>
    Then I moved the report to server and made the concurrent program output to XML.
    In the concurrent program output the tag is
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="&Encoding"?>
    The output shows error
    ===============
    XML Parsing Error: XML declaration not well-formed
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="&Encoding"?>
    Its clear that there is something wrong with page encoding format which has to get assigned while run time. But its not happening so.
    How to specify the page encoding format?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you
    BKR.

    Remove the encoding so it says:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    Also, you will get a similar error if your xml tags for fields contain any special characters like & or #.

  • Can no longer create custom page size for printing to PDF?

    When printing from FrameMaker to PDF in Windows, I used to be able to create a custom page size by clicking on the Add button that appeared to the right of the Adobe PDF Page Size window, in the Adobe PDF Document Properties dialog box. With Frame 9, that button no longer appears; in fact, the whole dialog box is cut off just inside the edge of the entry windows. Do I need to set something? Thanks for any help you can offer. - Cindy Shaler

    Cindy,
    I am not sure to what dialog boxes you are referring.
    In the PDF Setup dialog box (in FrameMaker's Print dialog or Save as PDF dialog), the Settings tab displays two fields to change the width and height of the paper. I tried entering odd values, and the resulting PDF had the entered size. I see no Add button nor is the dialog box cut off.
    Maybe I am not looking at the correct boxes.

    Is it possible to specify print settings for web pages designed in Muse? For example, can you exclude background images from printing?

    Hello,
    You can define Print Setting to page By Defining CSS Style in page Header by typing Style tag.
    you can go to Page > Page Properties > Metadata  > HTML for <Head>.
    you can refer to the link below for more details about Print properties in CSS.

  • Specifying page size using pdfexport()

    I have been trying to specify a specific page size for a PDF.  I have figured out how to use the picratio and other variables to change the TDR within DD.  However, the PDFexport ignores the printwidth setting and always uses 8.5x11.
    I was able to manually change the page size by printing to the "diadem pdf printer" but i need scripted solution.
    Is there a way to use the picprint and "printname" variable to specify a page size?
    something like
    printname = "diadem pdf printer,LPT1,11x17"
    Here is what doesn't work
    dim w,hPicInScal = False ' relative positioningPicFrame = False ' we'll handle the frame ourselvesw=11h=17picratio= h/wPicwidthInScal = w-0.5PicHeightInScal = h-0.35PrintTopMarg = 0.17 ' top page pagePrintLeftMarg = 0.25 ' left page marginPrintWidth = w ' page widthCALL PICpdfexport(PATH)
    Jim West

    I still can't get this to work.  I have 11.1 beta.  I have copied the script from prior posts.
    Diadem shows the correctly sized report but when the PDF export is made; the report is jammed into 8.5x11.  Sample attached
    I have adobe reader 9.1.1

    dim w,hPicInScal = False ' relative positioningPicFrame = False ' we'll handle the frame ourselvesw=28h=11picratio= h/wPicwidthInScal = w-0.5PicHeightInScal = h-0.35PrintTopMarg = 0.17 ' top page pagePrintLeftMarg = 0.25 ' left page marginPrintWidth = w ' page width call PrintMaxScaleCALL PICUPDATE CALL PICpdfexport("C:\Development\Spartan\www\temp\test3.pdf")

  • Save webi report as pdf programmatically

    Does anyone has any SDK code sample or can point me to the location of code sample on how to save a webi report as PDF file programmatically? Also, is the ReportEngineSDK is sufficient for this task or I need some other SDK?
    We are running XIr2 SP1 on Windows Server 2003, with Tomcat as web container.
    Any help will be very much appreciated.

    Hi,
    I think Using ReportEngine SDK you would not be able to save the webi report in PDF format.However it could be possible if you schedule a webi report to PDF format to unmanaged disk.
    You can refer the following tutorials given in developer library's BusinessObjects Enterprise SDKs. You can either use .NET or Java SDKs.
    How to schedule a report to a destination (FTP, SMTP, Disk, Printer, Inbox)
    How to schedule and view Web Intelligence documents

  • Page Size when converting .docx to pdf

    I am having an issue converting .docx to pdf. I am using a custom page size in word 2007 and saving it, but when i convert to pdf it uses the default 8"/11" format. I have seen it done, but can't get it to work consistently. I am using acrobat 8 pro. Can anyone help?

    What OS? Have you tried to make a custom page size for the Acrobat PDF printer drive?

  • Default page size for printing

    Is there a way to configure (i.e., specify non-programatically) the default page size to use when printing in Java? We have several JREs installed on a single Solaris machine. It seems that all but the one that came installed with the OS defaults to a an ISO-A4 page size.
    I wrote a test program (see end of post) and compiled using a 1.2.2 JDK. Here are some results:
    $ /usr/java/bin/java -cp . PrintPageFormat
    Java version: 1.2.2
    Page size: 612.0 x 792.0 pts
    $ /opt/java-packages/jre-1.4.0_04-solaris-i586/bin/java -cp . PrintPageFormat
    Java version: 1.4.0_04
    Page size: 595.0 x 842.0 pts
    $ /opt/java-packages/jre-1.4.2_08-solaris-i586/bin/java -cp . PrintPageFormat
    Java version: 1.4.2_08
    Page size: 595.0 x 842.0 pts
    $ /opt/jre-1.5.0_04-solaris-i586/bin/java -cp . PrintPageFormat
    Java version: 1.5.0_04
    Page size: 595.2755813598633 x 841.8897399902344 pts
    I've searched the Internet, but cannot find how to go about setting the default page size for a JRE. I've opened a ticket with Sun, and was told you can't do this other than programatically. It seems unreasonable that I would have to recompile my existing applications just to get them to work correctly under newer JREs. Is Sun's response to my ticket correct???
    Thanks in advance!

    ============================================================
    import java.awt.print.*;
      public class PrintPageFormat
          public static void main(String[] args)
              PrinterJob pj = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
              PageFormat pf = pj.defaultPage();
              double w = pf.getWidth();
              double h = pf.getHeight();
              String version = System.getProperty("java.version");
              System.out.println("    Java version: " + version);
              System.out.println("    Page size: " + w + " x " + h + " pts");
      }

    This problem was fixed by setting the locale variable LC_CTYPE to "C" or "en_US". The JREs 1.4.0 and above deployed on our Linux and Solaris environments all have the system property 'java.awt.printerjob' set to 'sun.print.PSPrinterJob'. This is a subclass of sun.print.RasterPrinterJob which in turn is a subclass of java.awt.print.PrinterJob. So, PSPrinterJob is the actual class of the PrinterJob returned by PrinterJob.getPrinterJob(). Looking at the code of RasterPrinterJob:
            /* Default to A4 paper outside North America.
            String defaultCountry = Locale.getDefault().getCountry();
            if (!Locale.getDefault().equals(Locale.ENGLISH) && // ie "C"
                defaultCountry != null &&
                !defaultCountry.equals(Locale.US.getCountry()) &&
                !defaultCountry.equals(Locale.CANADA.getCountry())) {
                double mmPerInch = 25.4;
                w = Math.rint((210.0*ptsPerInch)/mmPerInch);
                h = Math.rint((297.0*ptsPerInch)/mmPerInch);
                newPaper.setSize(w, h);
                newPaper.setImageableArea(ptsPerInch, ptsPerInch,
                                          w - 2.0*ptsPerInch,
                                          h - 2.0*ptsPerInch);
            }This should have been fairly obvious. Java's locale settings depend on the platform's locale settings (i.e., LC_ variables in this case), and then the default page size is determined (or actually altered) based on that.
    I'm kicking myself for not figuring this out much sooner. I would hope Sun is, too! (not me, themselves)

  • Page Size for Z2100 - Mac Software

    I print lots of long documents, all of which are 23" wide but of vaiable lengths. I used to use HP Instant Printing software on my PC, where I would simply add the file and my HP Designjet Z2100 would print it and then cut the roll before moving onto the next document.
    However, I recenly bought an iMac and found that the HP instant printing software isn't available. When using the standard printer driver, I need to enter a page size. As my pages aren't standard sizes, this is annoying. Is there any way to make the printer just print the document in the page size of the document (usually pdf's), cut the roll and move on?

    Ella:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There's no way to create a 12x12 book from iPhoto.
    MyPublisher now has an offline application, BookMaker, to create books offline and then upload. However the only sizes available are 8.75 x 11.25 and 11.5 x 15.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • 8x6 page size in crystal reports

    Hi All,
    I have created 8x6 page size for printing of voucher in crystal reports. While taking print when I select this size it takes as landscape. When I change it to portrait it changes size as 6x8.
    Is there any solution for this?
    Thanks & Regards,

    Oh dear I fear you are having the same problem I have which is if you create a report where the vertical dimensions are greater than the horizontal dimensions it switches it automatically to landscape.
    Sadly I have not found a solution yet as you can read in my post Printing Problem
