Spectre XT 13-2004TU

Hi all,
I just bought a Spectre XT 13-2004TU.
Did successfully create recovery to USB.
Plugged USB into port, rebooted, F9 to select boot from USB thumb drive.
But it does not, instead booting from SSD windows as per normal.
Changed USB ports(there are 2), even changed boot order in BIOS but still no go.
Am I missing anything?
In fact, is the USB recovery thumb drive even bootable?
If it is not, then how does one recover when the SSD fails?
Many thanks!
EC

Hi,
I have plugged it into 2units Thinkpad x200. In fact the 2units SpectreXTs are supposed to replace the X200s.
No boot success on both X200s. Tried all ports on both X200 (and Spectres). Selected boot on USB at bootup. Even changed  boot order in BIOS on X200s.
I, too, suspect it could be the Sandisk Cruzer Ultra 32GB thumbdrives, although both laptops and thumbdrives are brand new 2wks old and there is no www reports concerning boot problems with Cruzer Ultra 32gb.
I have bought brand new Kingston 32gb to try but the recovery software will no longer let me create recovery media.
I noticed you used a 16gb. I was not able to get recovery media created successfully on Sandisk 16gb.
It would report insufficient space at the 99% mark. You managed to create recovery on 16gb?
A FRUSTRATING start to my Spectre XT experience.
Any ideas on how I can re-create recovery media again?
Many thanks!

  • Partition of Spectre XT 13

I just bought my HP spectre XT 13-2004TU with 256GB of solid state drive. I was not able to do any additional partition for my data, as it was already partition with three primary drives and one logical drive. After making several attempts by shrinking the "C" drive, I was not able to assign the drive letter. At last, I solved the partition issue by using Acronis Disk Director 11 home edition.

Yes the shrink utility in W7 is limited, it cannot move data to increase shrink size or deal with other partition issues. Glad you solved it, just used Acronis DD the other day, nice software.

  • After upgrading to windows 8, spectre 14 usb3 slow

are there any usb3 fast drivers for spectre 14 after upgrading to windows 8, the drivers of windows 7 there are not compatible with windows 8

Hello rumbacha.  I understand you're trying to locate some drivers for your SPECTRE for Windows 8.
There are quite a few versions of the SPECTRE so I will need your product number to identify exactly which model you have.  This document can show you where the product number is located.
Once I have this I will attempt to locate the drivers for you.
    Have an excellent day!

  • Spectre ultrabook speaker

HP Sectre Ultrabook / Windows 8.1/ Can not seperate controls for ultrabook speakers from headphone jack. When I plug in headphones to the 3.5mm jack on the side there is an acknowledgment that headphones are plugged in and sound does come through, but the level controls remain with the pc speakers. When I look at ultrabook speaker proprieties it lists them as being attached to the 3.5mm jack. See picture below. Here is an image of playback screen with headphones plugged in as well. This is a problem for me because the laptop audio settings are already really loud out of the headphone jack. I had the ultrabook set at 65% volume and plugged the headphones in and started playing some music. I thought I had blown my headphone speakers and would have blood coming out of my ears it was so shreekingly loud. I am already hard of hearing but I can only have the volume at 30% on this ultrabook before it starts getting too loud out of the headphones. I thought that maybe it had something to do with the Beatsaudio settings but they are tied together it seems.

    Hi Hatemicrosoft,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP ENVY Spectre Ultrabook and sound issues. Here is a link to download software for Windows 8.1.
    Hope this helps.

  • Crackling sound while playing music in HP SPECTRE 15-4010nr Ultrabook

    Hi all,
I have recently bought [4th Jan. 2013 ] HP SPECTRE 15-4010nr Touchsmart ultrabook with beats audio.
I am very unhappy with sudden/random crackling bursts of noise while playing music.
The problem is not restricted to hp inbuilt speakers as it also reaches on headphones, so it's something internal to laptop.
Its really disappointing to have such a bugging issue from this high end laptop.
Please let me know if there is a solution to this problem.
    Thanks in advance!!

Yeah even for me it seems unhooking power adapter does the trick !
Even my Laptop is just 4 weeks, how could manufacturers let so common bug seep through their high end laptops.
Are these not tested for audio video quality ?
Anyways I need an alternate fix as I do not want to lose my laptop for a month, in exchange or return process.
P.S.: Sound drivers re-installation is of no use.
HP Guys, thanx for ur concern, but if u can give a fix for AC adapter noise interfernece it will be great. !!

  • HELP! HP Envy Spectre XT Ultrabook with NO sound!

I currently have no sound on my HP Spectre XT Ultrabook PC!!! Upon buying the laptop it had Beats audio on the laptop. That stopped working recently, but I still had the normal reduced audio, until that stopped completely soon after. I have tried multiple things to fix this problem, all without success; I tried troubleshooting the problem, I tried updating the audio driver (it said I already had the most current version), I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, I tried updating the BIOS on my computer and NONE of these have worked; I still have no sound! Please help to fix this problem!

Since today is HP expert support day, if there is an expert out there, PLEASE help fix this problem!!!!!!!!

  • Audio problem; buzzing noise (HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4011nr)

Hi, I recently bought an HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4011nr Ultrabook. I'm getting this annoying buzzing noise while listening to music or streaming movies. The store change my laptop for another one and after a few minutes listening I got the same behaviour on the new (same model) laptop. Is this a model problem? Is there anyone with the same problem?

Solution found for me.  First, a little background.   I have a HP Spectre XT Touchsmart 15-4010NR and also have the same annoying  buzzing noise.  Usually lasts less than a second and is intermittent.  Counted it 13 times in four minutes of a YouTube audio file.  Time between the buzzes varies significantly ranging from a second or two to over a minute.  Once during the four minutes the audio cut out completely for less than a second.  My solution, I unplugged the AC adapter.  No more problem whatsoever as long as I'm on the battery.  Tried this multiple times, plugging the AC back in for a few minutes, then the same on battery.  The result, the buzzing occurs only when the AC is plugged in, and does not occur at all when on battery power.  The AC power adapter provides power and charges the battery normally.  Not sure what to conclude from this.  I suppose the AC power adapter or cord could have an issue.  Not going to go out and buy another one to test whether this is the case.  It's an inconvenience, but I'll just unplug the AC power when listening to audio.  If I listened to long recordings or movies this could become a real issue.  I'd be curious to know if it's a hardware problem, or something I could adjust in the settings on the computer, or something else like a grounding issue.   Interested if others can confirm my findings and expand on them.  out

  • Spectre 13" 3004TU Ultrabook F4A28PA Display rubber seal leaking fluid at bottom of screen

I have a Spectre Ultrabook 13" for which I paid a pretty penny - top of the line specs (i7, 8gb ram, 256 GB SSD etc).
Naturally, having spent so much I have treated it with kid gloves - however, I have noticed small amounts of a clear, oily residue appearing on the screen below the rubber display seal at the lower left and right hand side of the screen. It sits on the glass bezel and smears when touched. It also transfers to the laptop metal opposite the screen when closed, appearing again, as an oily clear fluid. I have not had any luck discussing this with HP reps (in India, presumably - I might as well be speaking Swahili, for all the help they have been).
My initial thoughts are that it may be a solvent which may have been used to attach the rubber seal to the display? is it the rubber breaking down? I have been advised there is no oil-type dampening fluid used in the hinge, so I'm at a loss. Of course, HP, ever helpful have already advised that although the laptop is still under warranty, I will possibly be liable for any costs. Wonderful!
Have been asked to call the HP 'Service Centre' in Brisbane, Australia for advice and to book it in. Naturally again, this service has been outsourced to a provider called 'AWA', and so far, after being on hold for over an hour, I'm still waiting to get through.
This will be the last HP product I ever buy, and no, I won't be recommending their products - on the contrary, I'll be sure to advise everone I can that if this is the standard of after-sales service, steer clear!

Hello mike_farhat.  I understand you're looking for drivers for your G6.
Unfortunately there are no drivers available specifically for Windows 7 32-bit.  However, here is a link to the drivers for Windows 7 64-bit.
Another thing you could try is to install both the HP Software Framework and HP Support Assistant.  Then you can run HP Support Assistant and the application will scan your PC and automatically download and install any drivers which are available.
I hope this helps.  Have a great day!

  • HP Spectre x360 13-4002dx active pen and other issues

Hi, I'm havng issues with my active pen, but wasn't sure if it's an issue with my laptop or stylus (or if it's a software/driver issue). Is there an easy way to tell? Also, I've been using my laptop for a month now, and recently have had other issues, listed below. I wrote them down below in case that could provide some information, and/or if those issues are something I should be concerned about and should try to fix. To begin with, after doing some research, I bought a Synaptic active stylus (the Dell one), which worked very well for the first two weeks until last week. All of a sudden, it started to respond very awkward and randomly, sometimes it's too sensitive and draw lines even when the pen was off the screen, and sometimes it didn't draw anything at all even though I see the small circle following my pen tip. I initially thought it was due to low battery, but it's the same issue after I replaced the battery. Right now, the laptop doesn't respond to pen touching the screen (no clicks, no writings), although the pointer follows the pen. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue? How do I know if it's the pen that is faulty or if it's the laptop? Other issues I had or am having:1. Today, I had a BAD_POOL_HEADER error and blue screen of death. After reboot, everything seems to still work, but the login is now much slower. It's very fast to reach to the login screen, but it takes 2-3 minutes to bring up the desktop and other startup applications after I enter my password (I think it used to take less than 10 seconds). I tried rebooting 2-3 times, and it was always the same. 2. The laptop seems to gain heat very easily. With moderate workload (example, some websites with flash advertisements or videos), it can easily go above 70 degrees Celsius on either core (according to CPUID HWMonitor). One time, the system actually failed and forced hibernated due to overheating. (To me, the screen went blank all of a sudden. I turn the laptop back on, and the screen printed a message for a while saying it forced shutdown due to overheating. I realized it was hibernation after I logged in since I see all my windows) 3. On the second day of use of this laptop, the laptop just shutdown for no good reason, and then couldn't boot, saying it cannot find boot image or something like that. I looked up the web and found that it could be a BIOS issue. It said to try reseting the BIOS setting, and then it worked. I also upgraded the BIOS image to the latest after this incident. 4. This is probably more a router issue, but I initially had problems connecting wireless to my router. It was solved after changing my router. For those who are interested, the details is as the following: my old router supported up to 802.11n , but not 802.11ac, That shouldn't matter, but all wireless connections get disconnected once in every several hours if my HP Spectre x360 is trying to use the wireless. However the wired connections stayed ok when this happens, so the router is only "partially" killed. The fact that all wireless connections are getting killed seemed to me that the router didn't like something from my HP laptop. To be fair, I didn't try not using my HP laptop to see if the issue goes away, so it could be  a coincidence that the router started to go faulty at the same time I bought and used my HP laptop. Anyways, it seemed it's a router issue, so after replacing the router. the issue went away. Thanks.

Will investigate and let you know what I can find out.

Solved this??.   does appear to be the  order in which the equipment is connected... first, HDMI cable connected to TV and computer, then switch on computer, then switch on TV.. seems to work with picture and sound coming from TV each time so far...   (Plus, on one occasion I had to check "mute" was off!!)

  • HP Spectre 13-1310dx Win 8.1 USB Recovery issue

    Hello!
I have been trying to recover my HP Spectre 13-1310dx ultrabook from its original USB Recovery Media 749738-003 (Win 8.1). However each time I am having a error massage which says
    "Detect some error during PININST_BBV"
    "Check C:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootWarn.log"
    or "check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootMerge.log"
Anybody knows any solution for this issue?
    Thanks

    Hi @Servetb
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a great  place to find answers and tips!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I grasp that when you tried to do the recovery from  a USB key you received the  error  "Detect some error during PININST_BBV"
    "Check C:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootWarn.log"
    or "check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootMerge.log"
First I would test for any hardware failures just to rule out that possibiltiy'
Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8)
This step resolved this issue for someone else perhaps it will work for you also.
When you boot up your computer hit F10 that will take you to the BIOS manager. then hit F9 to set BIOS to factory default save and exit then do recovery.
Here are two more links that may be of assistance.

You could also try changing the date in the bios to BIOS to  1/01/2012.
If the issue should still remain please contact HP support for assistance. It is possible the the recovery media has a problem.
