I cannot find anywhere how you set speed dial on the Lumia 820? can this be done

@ lynnai41 - You may go to your contact list, select the contact and long press on it .. then select 'pin to start' and the contact tile will be pinned to the home screen. Else, you may search for 3rd Party applications (search for 'speed dial' ) at the MarketPlace.

  • Where does Speed Dial store the urls of the sites added in Speed Dial?

Hi, i am using Ubuntu 10.04 . I need to know the urls of the websites i stored in the Speed Dial of firefox. Is it possible ?

The details are stored a file called prefs.js inside the Firefox profile folder. That file also stores many of the Firefox preferences. For details of the location of the profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles
With Speed Dial on display, if you hover the mouse over a thumbnail, it will show the URL.

  • Speed dial was the main attraction of Firefox! Why can't I have it in the current version?

Running Windows XP, loved Firefox and Speed Dial. Downloading the new version of Firefox messed up everything.
I've sent in reports re crashing . No replies from you. Think I'm losing interest, and will stick with Internet Explorer.

Crash reports go into a pool of data used to find problems in Firefox, but they do not generate a personal response. If you have the crash ID number, some people here can look up your crash report and give you advice on it.
If you decide you haven't lost interest, have you tried this article? [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes Firefox crashes | Troubleshooting | Firefox Help].
Also, there are several speed dial and fast dial add-ons. If yours isn't compatible with Firefox 5, you might be able to find a great alternative.

  • Using Nokia 6310i accessories on the Nokia 6300

I am upgrading from my faithful 6310i to the 6300. Does anyone know whether the data cable connections are the same and whether the PAMA handsfree kit for the 6310i will work with the 6300.

    Hi johnjennings
Your 6300 would need a USB DKE-2 cable as your old one is a RS-232 serial cable
On a brighter note both 6300 and 6310i will connect via bluetooth to PC Suite using same protocols, so there is no reason why your old PAMA should not work

  • Lumia 1020 - No Speed Dial

Having just moved from Android SGS4 I am shocked to find that the Lumia 1020 (possibly the most expensive mobile phone on the market) does not have speed dial under the phone pad keys. Forget about the inconvenient pinning of a contact to the home window which requires nine tiles to replicate the keypad version found on almost every other phone in existence! If the message bank number can be stored under key 1 then there is no reason why up to nine other numbers could not be stored under the other keys. IMO this is a serious failure with this phone especially for a business user. I hope that a software update might fix this issue.

There is none you pin a contact to home screen from people hub,or you can try this app .

  • Speed Dial is replaced by another program instead of the program opening in a new tab. How to resolve?

I have been using Speed Dial for a long time and when I click on a button, usually a new page opens, leaving Speed Dial available. Recently, every time I click on a Speed Dial button, the new page opens in place of Speed Dial. If I want Speed Dial again, I have to back up page by page or restart Firefox. This has only happened recently and is very annoying. Any help will be appreciated. thanks.
Also finally remembered that instead of clicking on the speed dial icon, I can right click on it and click on "new tab". That way it will come up in a new window. This is not the way it always worked. Wonder why the change?

If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel then you can usually click that button to get a middle click.<br />
If you still have a mouse with only two buttons then you can consider to buy a new mouse with a scroll wheel as that makes scrolling a lot easier and also make use of Firefox features regarding a middle click.<br />
Most mouse drivers also allow to emulate such a middle click by pressing both mouse buttons at the same time.

  • How To Use The Voice Command in Nokia 6300

    Dear all
the voice command which saved on the Nokia 6300 is a computrized only i can't change it with my voice which return this option is useless to me so is there any other way to use this service using my real voice

No, on newer Nokia phone you can no longer recorded your own voice tags.
If you are having difficulty with the phone understanding your voice command please try to change the voice playback setting on the phone. Do the following :
Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> Language settings -> Voice playback language
Then select a language that the phone should use for playing back voice commands, you might want to select a language that closely resembles your accent and language.

    It works for me.
Speed Dial is located under Tools -> Utilities -> Speed Dial
Assign the speed dial numbers to the keymat
Then while in the Active Idle, press and hold the number key that you assigned to Speed Dial.

  • Nokia 6300, iSync, and Contact Photos-

Thanks to the following links, I was able to get my new Nokia 6300 to successfully sync with my Mac’s Address Book via iSync:
    http://klauskjeldsen.dk/2007/06/08/free-nokia-6300-isync-plugin/
    http://nokia6300.net/8/new-version-of-the-nokia-6300-isync-plugin
    http://brent.kearneys.ca/technology/2007/how-to-sync-a-nokia-6300-on-osx/
    http://kaspers.freeflux.net/blog/archive/2007/04/13/how-to-isync-a-nokia-6300.html
Unfortunately, two things didn’t sync up: Birthdays and Contact Photos. After politely asking people if there was any way to get these to work (especially photos, as it’s nice to see someone’s picture pop up on the phone for faster recognition before you unceremoniously reject them) I tried to tackle this one on my own. I was able to dig around in the plist files of the Nokia N93 and glean the few lines that make both of these details available to the Nokia 6300 plugin.
Before we begin however, I’ve noticed some problems that can occur with Photo syncing. PLEASE READ THIS THOROUGHLY before continuing: it’ll save some head-banging and frustration later.
Failing to follow the following guidelines will result in a completely failed sync. Should this happen, I simply deleted all of my contacts on the phone (phone memory, not SIM card), tried to determine the problem, and tried again.
Also, note that if you do end up deleting all of the contacts on your phone, you’ll also lose your 1-touch dialing and the entries in your caller groups (but not the groups themselves).
    Here we go:
Do not use .GIF files — JPG only! (I didn’t test PNG)
You cannot drag-and-drop from a web-page directly onto a contact. Although this works for Address Book in that you’ll see the ‘image edit’ window pop-open, and you can save your contact, when it comes to iSync your entire sync will fail. If you want to use someone’s image (from Facebook, for example) simply drag the photo you want from the web-page onto your desktop, and then drag the photo from your desktop onto the Address Book entry’s ‘contact photo’ area. You’re then free to delete the image from your desktop.
You cannot sync with a ’smart group’ that you created within Address Book. This has more to do with iSync than the new plugin, but it’s a pain nonetheless. Physical groups only!
When a sync fails, you are not told what failed, or why it failed. iSync detailed logs are useless too, stating only:
5:28:24 PM Error [Nokia 6300] An unexpected error occured.
5:28:24 PM Error Device "Nokia 6300" synchronization failed
Fun! What I did was create a ‘temp’ group, set iSync to sync with that folder only for contacts, and then slowly add contacts into that temp group until a failure occurred so that I knew what the offending entry was.
The plugin that I’ve created is essentially just the one from the site listed above, but with some additional properties put into the PhoneContuit.plist and SyncEngine.plist files.
As with everyone else, I take no responsibility if this completely fcks up your phone or Address Book, but please do backup both your Address Book (File -> Back Up Address Book…) and your phone’s contacts (I typically just copy everything to SIM). I can say that this has worked fine for me for a day now, with a fair bit of testing. After I cleaned up my offending image-entries, it’s been great.
To install: Quit iSync, download the following zip file, and drag-and-drop the plugin into your system using the shortcut, and sync away.

  • Can a neck strap be attached to a Nokia 6300?

    Hi all,
I want to know whether the Nokia 6300 has the input for a neck strap.
    Thanks

I have 2 Nokias, dual SIM, 105 and 108. Both are petite, glossy, slippery. Both have slipped from my hands, crashed down from the backpocket, where I carry one of them while walking the dog, when I invariably forget to take it out before dropping the jeans. And yes, neither has a provision for attaching a neck strap. Alas!
Most gadget mfrs nowadays are aiming their product at females: downsizing, cutiepie looks, small delicate buttons, alphanumeric pad with too small keys too close to each other. Its almost as if they dont want male buyers at all?!
But at least a provision for adding  a neck strap? If women dont want to, then they can ignore this feature!
