Speed/Duration info not preserved when importing from Premier Pro to After Effects (CS3)

After succesfully importing my PP project into AE and adding effects, I realised that all clips in PP which had speed/duration adjustments resulted in blank black screens after rendering out on AE.
I then imported the AE composition into PP as a new project and the clips with any changes to speed were stilll black/blank.
I made changes to the speed of individual clips by right clicking on the clip  an changing Speed/Duration.
Any help would be appreciated, fellas - thank you!

Incase anyone else is having this same issue I have discovered what was causing the problem. Apparently the program Hear by Joesoft is incompatible with the MediaCore service. Only after uninstalling Hear was I able to run these programs again.

Tried to reinstall my CS6 master collection onto my iMac. It will not install - In Design, Fireworks, Premiere Pro, Encore, After Effects, Flash Professional, Photoshop, Illustrator & Prelude. Could you give me some advice. I noticed problems when I was doing some 3D work and the computer kept crashing and thought I would just reinstall my software.

uninstall (using the uninstallers), clean Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 and then reinstall.

Hi, I was sending project from pr to ae using the way that select clips and right click to create a new ae composition, but when the ae project opens up, the pr clips didn't transferred to the ae project, there was only the composition on the screen. Just wondering which part of the process went wrong?

  • IPhoto '11 not responding when importing from Canon S90 with videos

    Hi,
I have a recurring problem attempting to import photos/videos with iPhoto '11.  If the memory card only has images, they import properly when using my card reader, but if there are also videos taken with my Canon S90, then the import hangs. Even if I force quit, iPhoto will continue to hang until the computer is rebooted. I also use a Nikon D200 and have never had any issues importing, though that camera does not take video.
Oddly, if I first copy my memory card to my desktop and then import from there (rather than using the card reader) then it will import.
    Any suggestions?

How big are the files? Iphoto has alwys baulked at importing large videos from the Card directly.

  • Encore CS6 crashes when importing from Premiere Pro CS6

When sending a project to Encore as a Dynamic Link from Premiere Pro, Encore hangs then a message pops up that it has stopped responding then closes. How do we get this to work?
The computer has an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and is running Windows 7 Pro x64 with Service Pack 1. Adobe CS6 Master Collection is installed. The computer is joined to a Windows Server 2012 domain and the user of the machine has local administrator rights.
The Adobe suite has been uninstalled and re-installed multiple times without success. Sometimes after re-installing, sending a Dynamic Link to Encore will import as expected once, but then after restarting the computer, the problem will occur again. This has been tried with and without installing any Adobe updates. The system has also been wiped and had Windows and all software clean installed on it again which has not resolved the problem.

  • Aspect ratio wrong when importing from QuickTime Pro

Movies shot with Cannon still camera came out sideways. I used QuickTime Pro used to rotate them. They then look fine. However, when I import them into iMovie HD6, they remain vertical but are flattened down. I am sure it's a settings thing but this recent PC convert needs help!

So you shot in "portrait" instead of landscape?
I hope these are 320X240 instead of 640X480 files.
Easiest fix it to create an all black image file and use it as a background in QuickTime Pro.
Make the image 640X480. Import with QT Pro.
    Select all and Copy.
Switch to your 320X240 movie (now 240X320), select all and "Add to Selection & Scale (Edit menu).
    Open Movie Properties window.
Highlight the video track and adjust its offset and dimensions. Set its track "layer number" lower than the image file layer number. Negative numbers can be used.
Once happy with the file export to DV Stream.
Use the .dv file in iMovie.

  • How do I get rid of black shadows around layered sparkles in file imported from Illustrator CC to After Effects CC?

I have a background with a logo that will have various stars or sparkles around the logo. I eventually want the sparkles to flicker on and off around the logo in my Premiere Pro video.
I created my layered logo/sparkle artwork in Illustrator CC. Each sparkle is on a separate layer. The sparkles came from clip art. In Illustrator CC the sparkles are white or yellow. In After Effects CC they have a black background around each sparkle, almost like a drop shadow.
I want to get rid of the drop shadow/black background.
    Any suggestions?

Check the problematic layers in the comp by soloing them and then press the u key twice to reveal everything that is not set to the defaults. Make sure there are no layer styles or other effects checked. If all is normal but the art still looks odd open up the footage interpretation, Click the More Options button at the bottom left. and set the anti aliasing for vector art to More Accurate. You can do similar in Preferences>Previews and set Zoom Quality to More Accurate.
Here's another tip for using Illustrator files for video. Any stroked artwork must have a minimum stroke of 1 point or 1 pixel. 2 is better. Fine details in your artwork should be drawn with the snap to pixel option enabled in Illustrator and artwork should be an even number of pixels (points) high and wide.
If none of that works, save out just some of the problematic layers in you AI file and send us a link so we can check out the file or post a screenshot of the problem viewed at a zoom factor of 100% with resolution set to Auto or Full and the properties of your layer with problems revealed.

  • Moving from premiere pro to after effects

    Hey guys
I've been using priemere pro now for a little while, and I'm eager to really start developing my skills.
I know very little about after effcts and what it does, so I was just wondering if someone could explain to me the differences betweeen PR and AE, and what are the benifits to getting to know AE?
    Thank you

After Effects and Premiere are two completely different products. I can't even begin to list the differences because they are so many.
On a technical level, I will adapt something I heard Rick Gerard say once:
Premiere and other NLE's (Non Linear Editors) are specifically designed to playback a video stream. If you stack enough layers or effects on the video they will have to render a new video stream based on pixel based calculations for every pixel in the stack. This rendering, especially for HD sources or for complex plug-ins, will take quite a bit of time. However, for cutting together a bunch of video into a story, they excel.
After Effects (and other compositing programs) -- are all pixel based image processing applications that act very much like Photoshop. They calculate the values of every pixel in every frame, come up with a new pixel, and then play those pixels back as a video stream. More importantly, AE and all the other pixel based compositing apps, always work internally with completely uncompressed pixel data. NLE's rely on codecs and in some cases, hardware, to playback the video.
It's an entirely different way of working with moving images.
Premiere is for putting shots together to tell a story. After Effects is about creating shots that can be used to tell a story.
AE is for compositing, visual effects, and motion graphics. There is some overlap, but they are very different tools for very different jobs. You could cut together a scene in After Effects and you could hammer in a nail with a screwdriver, but neither are the recommended tool.
Go to Vimeo or YouTube and look at some demo reels by motion graphics artists and compositors; that is what After Effects is for.
If you want to join us in this wonderful world of AE, COME ON IN! But please start here: http://adobe.ly/AE_basics
There is a much steeper learning curve to AE than there was for Premiere and you can't rely on your NLE experience to help much in AE. For example, don't press spacebar to start a preview in AE unless you hate yourself. A solid foundation in the basics of how AE works (in the link I gave you) is necessary to avoid much frustration. Don't let that scare you though. After a few months of working with it, it'll start to be tons of fun! I've enjoyed it so much that I've worked with it for over a decade.

  • Video does not play when imported from FCP

When I import a clip from FCP into motion the clip opens up however only one frame shows up in the motion viewer. When I press play, there is no video..only that particular frame that was showing.
The media tab shows the .mov file, and plays it in seperate window when i double click on it.
    Thanks for helping me out.

How do you bring the file into Motion and what file are you actually opening in Motion?
Are you exporting your FCP project as QT? or
Are you sending your FCP project to Motion?

  • Raw and jpeg will not show when imported from camera

I am doing a OCA degree in digital photography using aperture 3 . I have been asked to take Raw and J pag , open up in the program I use. And not the differance and the make changes.
I have 1d MK III and 7 d     I cannot get both file types to show side by side..   Some one tell me how to do this please. I must have clicked , ticked something , that I cannot find to put right again.

As always, start by copying the images on to a folder on the hard drive and then backing up the folder. Never import directly from camera or card into Aperture or any other images app.
Then since this is an exercise not a batch workflow, simply rename the RAW and JPEG versions of one image and separately import each renamed version into Aperture. The two should each be Masters, one from the JPEG original and one from the RAW original.
Note the JPEG may initially "look" better on the (relatively low resolution) display due to in-camera presets like sharpening, etc. not present in the RAW file. However the RAW file contains much more image data, is much more editable and is capable of making superior (relatively very high resolution) hard copy prints.

  • Error -43 file not found when exporting from QT Pro 7.5

I get the error -43 (a file could not be found) when trying to export into any format from within Quicktime Pro 7.5 (861) which i believe is the most current version. I also cannot perform a simple "save as" to save my video into another name, i dont get an error message for that one, but it just doesnt do anything. Im not sure if there is any point placing this on this forum, but maybe someone at Apple is interested in offering a little support...?

OK so i found the solution myself - seems apple programmers have been not doing their jobs properly, to get this working the file name of the video that i want exported cannot be anything other than in 8.3 format (like old MS-DOS) but it's more than that, even if you do have the file in 8.3 format it still cant be in a directory that has a name longer than 8 characters, or which has spaces in it etc. so in my case i copied my video to c:\temp and renamed all of them to the old MS-DOS 8.3 format, now the export works... amazing I wonder how long i would have waited for apple support if i hadnt resolved this myself.

  • Audio and video not synchronized when exporting from Premiere Pro CS6

    Hi
We have made a project in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 that´s intended to be exported to DVD (it´s a weeding). We are working with NTSC DV Widescreen. The exporting is 720x480
We have 2 audio lines activated and sounding on this project.
    The question is:
When exporting the entire video (the entire timeline sequece) using Adobe Media Encoder to formats like H.264 (NTSC DV Widescreen)... Quick Tile Movie or AVI without compression (we tested these formats) the 2 audio channels get unsynchronized from the video. The same problem occurs if we get a direct link of the timeline from Premiere to Encore.
And Inside Premiere Preview audio is preety correct.
Does anyone here are getting such problem?
Also..can I ask another question (as I´m not expert on video production)?. What´s the best format for our purpose? Export a video to be played to DVD (we record weedings, birthdays..social events). No problem the time to export. We´d like the best quality for output.
    Thank you for the help
    Gustavo.

    Hi John and techkid123
We have 4 cameras here. 1 is Sony model HD1000 (since it works with Mini-DV cassete we need to capture the image via Firewire). 2 cameras are Sony HD2000 (it generates *.MPEG files if I remember well). And 1 camera is a Panasonic AG-DVC7 (it generates *.MTS files)
We start a new project using the Standard NTSC Widescreen 48Khz format.  When we drag to the timeline for example the MTS file...Premiere ask us if we want to Keep and Change timeline to suit the file specification. Anyway we always have 1 or 2 camera files that has a yellow line over timeline.
But I renders correct...no problem to edit...and we had no problem with Premiere CS5.5 :/
We are downloading the latest update of Premiere. I´ll make some test and publish here if the problem persist.
Thank you a lot for the help
    Gustavo.

  • Fcp 7 XML not working when importing to Premier CS5.5

It suddenly stopped working, I could import xml's just fine. The only thing I did before it started happening was do maintenance with OnyX.
Its telling me that the PROJECT APPEARS TO BE DAMMAGE. It points to Users, library, caches, temp Items, then project file name.
    Things I've tried...Export different xml's, versions 1 thru 5.
    Repair disk permissions.
looked at the temp Items folder, and there's no xml file, Just a dinamiclinkmanager file.
    Uninstalled cs5.5. Re-install cs5.5 do updates.
    To no avail.
    It was working perfectly before.
I also started getting an error 24 when trying to install, had to contact adobe they couldn't help me, finally got it back.
More concerned about the xml right now, just mentioned it in case.

The problem is with the recently exported (FCP) xml's, not with Premier. I just Imported an old xml into premier with no issues.

  • Poor Quality When Imported From FCP

Hello I have been having issues when importing a QT files into After Effects. When exported from FCP and imported into After Effects the footage loses significant quality, maybe a little interlaced. Ive checked and double checked fields, Im exporting in animation. Ive done both QT movie and QT conversion with the same result. Also it happens with files exported from FCP from other computers. Ive checked export settings & coposition settings. Any Ideas?
    Thanks

Thanks. That is what makes the most sense to me. How do I elect how After Effects interprets the footage? I went to preferences but couldn't find anything that fixed the problem there.
See the help system for Interpret Footage.
It's a right-click dropdown form the project pane. Select a footage item, Interpret Footage.
Thank you Lower Fields first was selected

  • Get an error message when importing from iPhoto says, "There is not enough free space on your Aperture Library volume to import the selected items. It is estimated that you need at least 44GB of free space."

I get an error message when importing from iPhoto that says, "There is not enough free space on your Aperture Library volume to import the selected items. It is estimated that you need at least 44GB of free space." the drive is empty, I just reformatted it to Mac OSX journaled.

I'm guessing this is an extrenal drive, correct? If so make sure the library you're importimng into is really located on the external drive. By default Aperture creates its library in your home pictures folder.
