Speed on podcasts

Just upgraded to ios5, but now there is no speed button on the music player, so all the podcast play at slowww speed.
The iphone still has the speed button. The repeat buttons still exist for the music, but for podcast no buttons. I have restored and reset, still not speed button, anyone have any ideas?

Well, this is depressing:  I just found the same question POSTED THREE YEARS AGO WITH NO RESPONSES!!!

  • Speed up podcast playback?

I love the feature on the iphone and ipod touch that lets you play back podcasts at 2x speed.
But I don't have either of these, and I don't want to buy them - I have an ipod nano. Is there any way to increase the playback speed on itunes (or any other hack) before syncing with my ipod?
    Thanks

I am also looking for a way to do this on my first gen nano. I found a few ways to play on the PC or via re-encoding. Still looking for a more ideal solution.
    1. Quicktime can let you speed up podcasts and even videos. Which somehow I cannot find on my new Quicktime 10.
    2. VLC can speed up playback too.
    3. Speedup and re-encode mp3 using free Audacity
    4. Use a paid software Amazing Slow Downer

  • Is there a way to adjust the speed of podcast playback in iOS 5?

In earlier versions of its, I could play podcasts at normal speed, half speeder double speed. As I listen to many podcasts, I enjoyed the ability to listen in the faster mode to save time. Now, after upgrading my iPad to iOS 5, it sounds like all audio podcasts are playing in only a slowed down mode with no control to adjust the speed that was found in earlier versions.  I mean, I even have this control in my first generation iPod touch!
Am I missing something or was something left out of iOS 5?

From every thread that I have read about this - and there have been plenty of them - I have not seen a definitive answer on this. The feature seems to be missing from the iPad as bizarre as that may seem. I know that I cannot find it.

  • Setting playback speed for podcasts

Whenever I watch a podcast it starts at the 1 1/2 speed and I must change it back to the 1X speed.  It only started doing this.  How can I set it to run at the 1 1/2 speed on startup?

I've seen a similar bug as well.  I have an iPhone 4 (AT&T).  I listen to podcasts at double speed while driving to work.  When an incoming phone call interrupts the podcast, the podcast plays at single speed when the call ends.  The display still shows the poscast playing at 2X speed.  I need to cycle through "1/2x, 1x, 2x" to get the podcast back to 2x.  Not a big deal, but a tad annoying.

  • Having problem with speed of podcast ios5

I have just noticed this morning when I started to listening to a podcast on my ipad 1 64gb 3g with IOS5 that now it only play in 1/2 speed and the control to affect the speed (like in the past 1/2 - 1X - 2X ) is no longer visible.
This is a serious problem, i usually listen to my podcast a 2X so listening at half the speed is painful and useless.
Any work around to at least put them in normal speed?

Thanks, i just did before writing this post this morning, we should allways report problem like this with feedback, was just hoping for a work around in the meantime.
Was i've remember is that the feature is also ( or was) offered in audiobooks, the problem is that i don't have an audiobook in my ipad at this moment and it seem we can get all the music we purchased from the cloud right now, but not the audiobooks.
I'll have to wait to be back home to test this. If i can affect the speed of an audio book maybe the speed will "stick" and will stay identical to it when i play back a podcast.
    Let's just hope.
    I'll update after i try.
Or maybe you can test is if you have a chance.

  • Changing track speeds and podcast to mp3 conversion

    Two parts to this:
1)I am learning Spanish and have several podcasts in the language for which I would like to slow down the speech slightly (without affecting pitch) is there anyway of doing this without converting the file?
    2) I am sure this is possible with a standard mp3 file. Is there a way to convert a podcast into standard mp3 format? and any suggestions of software that will perform the task above.

  • My ipad pauses plays, skips and speeds up music by itsel

My ipad pauses and play my music with a touch of the headphones, it speeds up podcasts and even skips music, what should I do? Is it the headphones (standard apple headphones), or the ipad itself.

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • Podcasts play x1 after call after iOS update

    Hello
I have an iPhone 4 and after the iOS 5 update, I found one disturbing problem.
I use the double-speed option (x2) on my iPod app (now its called Music) when I listen to a podcast. However, the new updated iOS has this bug, that when I have an incoming call while listening the podcast at x2 speed, the podcast is resumed after the call on a regular x1 speed but the button that can be used to change the speed of a podcast, is still showing x2. This only happens after the incoming call. If I call out during the podcast listening, after the call, the podcast resumes still on x2 speed.
I'm hoping for a feedback on that issue. Is there anyone else having this problem or is it just me and what could I do about it.
If this is indeed a bug in the iOS 5, I hope Apple could resolve this in the next update. And by resolving this, I mean that the podcast could resume after the call on a speed that it was before the call, not that the button caption would change to x1 and the speed of a podcast returned to a x1 speed.
All the best to all of you!

    HI all,
If anyone has had similar bug, I'm happy to say that with the iOS version 5.1 it has been fixed.
    All the best!

  • Wma audio book plays too fast

I downloaded an audio book from the library, changed the speed to podcast, and the book still plays fast on my phone. It plays normal speed in itunes.

I have the same problem with an iPhone 4 OS version 5.1.1
Following advice on another site I restored the factory setting, re-loaded everythin and STILL the audio books purchased from iTunes play at high speed.
On my iPod touch the audio books play at the correct speed
On the computer using iTunes they also play at the correct speed.
Until there is a solution for thisissue  I will not be buying any more audio books from iTunes.
I hope that the good people at Apple support can give advice.

  • Is there a way to vary the speed of playback for a podcast on my desktop iTunes?

I love listening to my podcasts at 2x speed on my iPhone- is there some reason iTunes won't let me do this on my desktop?  Windows Media Player does it, but it screws up other things.  If Itunes won't do it, is there some other software that will?
Its maddening that iTunes can't handle this, in part because when I search Google for help, I find dozens of people asking for the same feature, some as far back as 2006.  It can't be that hard to add- come on, Apple!  Unless of course one of you can tell me how...

From every thread that I have read about this - and there have been plenty of them - I have not seen a definitive answer on this. The feature seems to be missing from the iPad as bizarre as that may seem. I know that I cannot find it.

  • The sound on my ipod 4 touch is speeded up when I play a podcast in any format - Bose dock, ear phones or mic.  How do I fix that?  Can I?

How can I return the sound on my iPod 4 touch to normal?  The sound is speeded up when I play a downloaded podcast in any format - Bose dock, ear phones or mic.  It's hard to tell, but the music seems ok, and the podcasts sound fine on my Mac.
I don't know what happened, but suddenly the playback was speeded up, even on podcasts that I had listened to normally before! Do I need to take it in for repair?  Is there anything I can do?  Thanks for your advice!  Paula

In the podcast playing screen there is a box on the left just under the scrubber bar.  It has a 1/2X. 1X or 2X. Those are the playback speeds.  Tap on the box to cycle through and change the playback speed.
