Speed seams slow ?

Hi there
My first post here so here goes.
I had 8 meg unlimited on the line to the house i live and was getting a very stable 6.8 - 7.3 meg connection and was quite happy. But when i had to take the line over as the owner of the house died BT would not do a working line transfer and cut the line off and reconnected me with a new number (even though i was promised my old number) and i had the option 1 broadband package. I had to wait a 15days for the BB option 1 as i had to wait another 5 days to get my old number back after reconnection with this new number i never wanted !.
Anyway now thats the background to my problem out the way !. My actual download speed now with my new package is only 1.5 - 1.7meg even though my hub says 7.9meg same as i had before. My hub is pluged into the test socket, I have done a few clear line tests with a corded phone these are silent - with a cordless a slight hum. The hub is on all the time never switch it off so should be in sync we did have a power cut earlier so the screen shots i have show it as only on for an hour or so

Will my line and speed sort itself out if i leave it a few days or do i need to contact BT

have you only just started with your new line and maybe still in the initial 10 day training period?  as john46 said you need to stay connected 24/7 with no resets for 3/5 days or until training period complete

    Are you on band 13 or band 4?  13 is the original LTE band and remains relatively congested. Band 4 is the XLTE band and is less congested and has higher overall potential bandwidth (15 MHz vs 10 MHz). Even so, 7 Mbps is more than enough for doing stuff on your phone and is not considered slow. 
    To check band,
    dial *3001#12345#*
    select serving cell info
    frequency band will say 13 or 4
    FInd an area with band 4 and retest.

  • Web page browsing speed drastically slowing down

    I purchased a 13 inch mac book pro in December. Since day one, I have had a problem with my web page browsing speed drastically slowing down. These crippling slow down periods are completely random. They can start any time, and last from any amount of time. from minutes to hours.
    95% of the time any attempt to load a page end in a time out. The other 5% takes no less then 90 seconds to load the simplest of pages. I have this problem no matter what browser I use (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera). What is driving me nuts is other applications work fine when browsing slows down. Skype, IM clients, multi-player games all work great, but web pages will not load. When I ping a website, my latency returns are perfectly normal. I can use Telnet and SSH with no problem.
    This has become such a problem that I can not depend on using OS X day to day. I used boot camp to setup a windows partition and installed win 7. Using my win 7 install everything runs perfectly, I have had zero slow down!
    I've done some searching and found numerous posts with similar problems. Ive read and followed the advice that I found, but I've had no success is fixing this.
    I have had this problem on 6 different wireless networks. Each time this problem has come into play, my windows install performs flawlessly. This really makes me belive this is a software problem. Not hardware / ISP.
    I see alot of post blaming default ISP DNS servers, just to let everyone know I use google's open DNS on my home network.
    I also have changed the DNS settings in OS X
    All other machines on my home network have zero problems!
    Sending files between my laptop and other machines on my network works perfectly.
    I have found a few posts / guides for using OnyX, none of them have worked for me
    I have to be missing some simple thing here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I rebooted into OS X as soon as I read your response. Web pages would not load.
    I followed your instructions.
    The Airport Light was green.
    I went ahead and hit assist me and ran the diag tool. According to the tool my internet connection is working correctly.
    Sadly the problem persists and web pages still will not load in all four browsers.
    I ran a ping to google.com and responses were well under 45 ms.

    To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display.
    Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app thumbnail to close it.
    this might help as well.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

    Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).
    Check for sources of potential interference.
    Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.
    Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings.

    Internet speed is slow with Mountain Lion 10.8.2, but booting in separate drive running 10.6 is fine. Tried renewing DHCP, zapped the PRAM, ran disk utilities, and sudo chron.  No change. I am running 2008 Mac Pro, 8 gig ram, AT&T DSL via ethernet. Getting 0.15Mbps instead of 3Mbps.

    Did you try creating a new location and deleting the old one? Just renewing the DCHP on its own may not be enough. Follow all the instructions here, first:

  • Broadband speed SO SLOW!

    So my download speed has been slow for about 3 months now, but at this point its starting to really get annoying. Download speed on steam is 30KB/s and no matter what device i test, my desktop connected via ethernet or a iPhone connected via wireless the ping is high and the speeds are slow.
    Anyone able to help. Here is what the Hub says. If you need anymore information just let me know.

    Speeds have been slow and are not getting better. Everyone on the forum has said just wait and it will configure itself. Well guess what, its been weeks and weeks without improvment. Every four days the hub would reset and change speeds, but this would sometimes be by less then 0.02Mbps. This is the reason the up time is just around 4 hours. Instead of speeds getting faster the upload speed was is decreased. 
    Can anyone help me get some of the speeds i am predicted by BT?

    LTE download and upload speeds are slow on my iPhone 6.  I also tried this on a co-workers iPhone 6 and got the same results, approximately 7 meg download.  A friend with an iPhone 6 on AT&T is getting ~35 meg download.  Is there something wrong with the network.  I've tried this in 5 different areas in Los Angeles.

    I know that the speed up/slow down option was taken off of imovie '8. My question is, what do I do? I have heard through the grapevine that you can download imovie '6 which does have that editing option, but I can't figure out how to do that? thanks for your time.

  • IOS7 wifi and LTE speed very slow.

    iOS7 wifi and LTE speed very slow compared to iOS6.  This was proven with Safari and using speed test app.

    I have exactly the same problem symptom ever since installing iOS7. Toggling the FaceTime or the LTE settings alleviated the problem until I installed the latest version on IOS (7.0.4- 11B554a). Now the bug is permanent, a Network Reset will not work anymore, a System Reset will work only for the first execution of Speedtest.
    Looks like the network software is throttling LTE speed to the minimum (.50 Mbps) up/download speed no matter what. Now unlimited Data means nothing, maybe AT&amp;T wants me to go to Verizon or Tmobile.
    I reported this problem to AT&amp;T Sept 26 when I first installed IOS7, they told me there was no problem really that I needed to wait for the LTE network congestion to go away...? Since I found a circumvention by toggling LTE I did not pursued the problem...
    After reporting the problem again this morning, they sent me to the AT&amp;T store to change the SIM card.... I will try this and report back if it fixes the problem... Although I doubt it will fix anything but burn and extra hour of my day. The AT&amp;T rep said that if the new SIM card doesn't fix the problem I need to go to Apple for them to give me a new Iphone....???? I guess there are many iPhones gone bad after installing IOS7 (sarcasm).
    If you have this same problem, please post here so that I am able to get back to AT&amp;T with some leverage to get them to remove the choking of LTE. Basically, if everyone accepts the new low speeds, then, unlimited data is no longer a problem for this phone company.

  • OMG!! Speed soooo slow

    Over the last few weeks i have had to endure speeds sooo slow it would be better for me to carry the messages personally to my contacts.
    I have connected to the master socket, retested, turned everything off, retested, tried different channels,different routers.
    My speeds lift to 3500kbps after restarts but soon drops back to 120-150kbps!!

    Hmm... Have u tried change filter ??  and router is pluged via filter?? Its sunday if u dont scary to remove two bolts after removing faceplate and check that wires are pushed in slot/ screwed ( those more expensive sockets has bolts to tight wires instead of V slots which is simple push in fit).
    ps: You are only need two wires which are connected to middle slots, three slots on left and three on right, when u look on the socket and remove wires which are connected to other V slots. They are not in use.
    Now most important on the middlle V slots u will find more then two cables connected (if you have more then one phone socket) look on wires, yes remove, just look on colors which are going on which side. Use tape, to mark one side and leave only wires which are coming from outside and disconnect all which are going inside your home to make sure that "  your dog eat some wires and without insulation they make problem, your child pun paper spin in phone socket etc."
    In standard you will find 4 wires, twom from outside and two which are used to extend your line around your home .
    master share on slave, slave reshare it to another etc.
    * sometimes you may find 6 or I saw even 8 wires in master socket. Everything  is depends of  person who fit that extension, BT or electrician, owner etc. This can give u diffrent variations of colors wires which are active.
    From outside active is orange and white orange, inside blue and white blue etc.
    Its really simple. When I was doing communications, I saw paper spin, little wires in phone sockets, dog eat a bit of cable and by cousing short circuit on extension, brodband couldnt connect or keep reconnecting, wife bought new phone and connected it without filter and every call broadband fail, kids bought phone for 4 GBP and beacuse u have free wekkends in plan they use phone without filter and call their friends etc.
    Keep only wires in "2" and "5" numbers.
    2. Pull out wires first from one side,  and put back that wire which is coming from outside ( you can push them back with flat electric screw driver, make sure that fit well for both sides )
    3. Now sort out right side, remove both wires and put back that which is coming from outside
    4. First connect filter which cable from the router and now power on router.
    Check stats should be ok.

    I doubt the Apple made a conscious decision to remove any features. It is more likely the current inability to "thread" the command structure that is causing all of the problems. Basically, the old application allowed third-parties to create code routines that could be selected and called directly/immediately by the user when he or she wished to create a special effect. In essence, the source data is passed to the called routine, modified on the spot, and then inserted into the "timeline" replacing the source content. However, iMovie '08 does not perform any immediate/direct processing. Instead, it lists the source segments to be modified and states what "effect" is to be applied. No real action is taken until the file is actually to be shared or exported. Then, and only then, is a physical movie created. Therefore, the problem is to create an application (iMovie '08) with the capability of extending its own command list, as well as, define these new commands as a process or series of processes which can be called independently at a later time. If your are familiar with FORTH or a similar programming language which has a threaded command structure (i.e., one in which you can define new commands in terms of previously defined commands and formally add them to the command list/structure) then you will likely understand the problems that need to be overcome here by Apple and all third-party companies likely to be involved in creating/re-creating "plug-ins" for iMovie '08.

    You can do slow motion with iMovie 08, but it requires the assistance of other programs.
    Give the more powerful iMovie 06 a try, you'll find these features and others built in.
