Speed up your OS... turn Autosave & Versions off globally

If you're experiencing slow opening apps or windows since upgrading to Mountain Lion... as I have... and you don't want your OS to automatically save your TextEdit files, etc. then simply disable Autosave and Versions via Terminal.
Open Terminal and enter this command which will turn off Autosave & Versions globally:
defaults write -g ApplePersistence -bool no
Now reboot.
Voila!
I experienced a very noticeable speed increase when opening apps and even opening some previously slow opening Dock folders after doing the above.
If for some reason in the future you want to turn Autosave and Versions back on just change 'no' to 'yes'
Feel the speed!

This terminal command has been around for a while, at least since 10.7.3 as I recall. The only thing I don't know is exactly why it runs up against this error. My suspicion is that when Autosave and/or Versions tries to save (and they're not the same thing, BTW — Versions saves to /.DocumentRevisions-V100; Autosave saves to ~/Library/Saved Application State), that global default setting is conflicting with another CoreServices app or process.
Regarding permissions, the problem with this is well-known and quite widespread, as another poster has already found out.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

Not sure this is a very useful thing. It would run down the battery. All a thief has to do is remove them SIM and restore the iphone to stop it from being tracked.

Do I simply turn Time Machine OFF before installing 10.7?

Before installing Lion do I simply turn off Time Machine?
Will all my internet settings and Applications still be on my iMac's hard drive after the install or will I need to reinstall them? Will Mail and Address Book content stillbe there after Lion is intalled or will they need to be recovered from my Time Capsule?

All your User information should still be there after the Upgrade...
Would suggest that you turn TM Off and Disconnect it from your Mac for the Upgrade.
Also... Before attempting any Major Upgrade... get yourself an External Hard Drive... and create a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive...
By far the easiest way to make such a Backup, is to use something like
SuperDuper http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
or CCC http://www.bombich.com/
That way, should anything untoward happen during the Upgrade, you will NOT LOSE ANYTHING.
(Get an EHD that is at least equal to your current Drive...)

Both are logged in and both are registered for homesharing. however because apple keeps updating and moving things around for no reason there appears to be no way of accessing the homsharing button in the latest version of itunes. the website refers to " Once set up, all the libraries from your computers you've enabled Home Sharing on will show up in the SHARED area of iTunes:" well I have searched all over in the recent itunes versions and there is no "shared area" to be found.
Please find the attachment of a screen cap of my itunes.
If anyone can help by telling me where it has been moved to or if it even still exists that would be much appreciated.

My ipad 2 crashed last night and now its just turning on and off in a cycle

My ipad 2 crashed last night due to the battery being low and when i plugged it in, it showed thae apple logo and turned back on. Then it flashes to my homescreen for under a second and then just turns right back off again! I have tried rebooting it by holding down the home and lock screen at the same time but it just powers on and does the exact same thing again. It has been doing the same thing the whole night so I dont know what to do? Oh and when I plug it into iTunes, iTunes just tells me theres an error and the iPad wasnt synced, im really worried now so i need help Thanks

The following article has some troubleshooting steps for you to go through, specifically steps 5-7. Even though the title says it's for iPhone, the same information applies to your iPad.
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.

Speed up your Booklet 3G the right way

I bought this booklet and was not impressed at all with the preformance issues. After a little work, here are some things that helped speed the machine up.
ReadyBoost; I got an 8gb SD card, used the disk utility to reformat the card to NTFS from FAT32, and dedicated the entire 8gb to use with the ready boost feature.
Windows home premium upgrade; this one is personal, but I think that microsoft made win 7 starter slower than the other win 7 products. It is my observation only, but hey take it for what its worth. the upgrade was an additional $80.
my GeekBench Score is 867 with the upgrades, it was 754 before.
I also tweaked the startup programs and services using msconfig. I got rid of everything except the core services, or anything necessary for the laptop to start-up correctly.
I use chrome for my browser, and it seems to be the fastest for me.
Lastly, I changed a few of the animation features in the advanced display settings menu.
So the little laptop now works 3 times better in my own tests. For example, Before the upgrades it took 2 minutes to start up to the desktop from completely off. Now i can cycle thru a restart with several programs running back to the home screen in the same 2 minutes.

-Google Maps (if you didnt know your GPS works in google maps. Just push the hardly visible little circle just above the street view man on top of the zoom slider. When on, the circle turns blue. It wont follow your position, but its better than OVI Maps).
If anyone has any information to help speed up the booklet, please let me know, Im sure all of us would like it.

best buy is big-box retail outlet, not a specialized location for that type of knowledge.
actually, you bought it at best buy and the wireless section you bought it from is a co-owned/joint business with best buy and carphone warehouse out of UK.
most of those guys dont even know that thier brochures for thier unlocked handsets they sell are incorrect with the phone stats that are listed. so dont expect them to know much about the booklet 3g unless they are a true ub er geek....which most all of them are not.
the memory is not upgradeable on this unit, but the hdd can be swapped very easily to a ssd which will speed up your unit enough to make it so that you cannot even use the ready boost becuase it does no good and you can run the win7 pro with everything running normally (aero and all other programs) and it works fine, even on the 1gb. still cannot compare to the power you may have with a desktop, but a smokin' little netbook.

The newest version of GPU Liquify now obeys the Photoshop preference "Show crosshair in brush tip" under cursors. Check this on in your prefs and you should be good to go.Non-GPU mode always has the crosshairs.
The cursor ring was also improved to be thinner and less jagged. Also the crosshair size was reduced. Red rubylith was added to see the drag changes in density on vertical drags. Enjoy.

When I get this false error message and click on the link, Adobe tells me my current Flash Player version is 11.9.900.170 and "Your system is: Windows 64-bit, English". I actually have an iMac with OSX 10.7.5, and Adobe Flash Player 11.9.900.170 already installed. I've reinstalled, deleted Flash Player completely and reinstalled several times and yet I continue getting these false "Windows 64-bit" update needed error messages for my iMac computer. I'm having a similar issue on both my Macbook Pro (OSX Mavericks), my iPhone 5S (iOS 7.0.4) and my wife's iPhone 5C (iOS 7.0.4). It happens on almost every site I viisit and when I launch some apps. I've cleared histories, caches and turned Javascript on/off. Also, get the "warning" when I use Chrome for iOS. I've added an image below of what it looks like on my phone. Turning frame blending off doesn't result in change (unless an effect is applied)

I have several fast speed clips on my timeline and I need to turn off frame blending in order to avoid the blurriness caused by that setting.
However, when I turn frame blending off, it has no effect on the clip -it stays just as blurry as before. I discovered a workaround which is applying an effect on the clip that does nothing but still forces premiere to re-render the clip (like curves for example, without changing any parameters). But that's only a workaround and I wouldn't like to have to put an additional effect to every single clip that I have with fast speed. Is there a better way to get Premiere to re-render the clips without frame blending? I tried to render the whole work area again, but still the frame blending persists.
Any help will be appreciated!

Just some speculation here as I'm not a network expert.
I don't think it has anything to do with WIMAX, only with communicating with the dhcp server of your device.
Your 169.254.x.x IP is not an IP given by a successful connection, but only a dummy given when the true connection fails. (someone please explain this more accurately )
Work thru the wiki setup page again. Note the dhcpd setup section and the note on your realtek card.

Or, switch to the netcfg2 setup, even though using an ethernet card, it works great for my setup with a realtek card.
