Speedfan windows 8.1

Hello there,
My product name is 20-2010et, it's an all-in-one pc with windows 8.1. Pentium CPU J2900 @2.41 GHz and I have recently bought it.  I'm not a gamer and I don't force my pc by running lots of programs at the same time. So, I wonder if I can reduce my fan speed (it's loudy) using "speedfan 4.49" and if so, can you guide me for the process as the youtube videos did not help.
By the way, I write from Turkey and I made a phone contact with HP support line but they did not help me to change my fan settings. So you're my only hope to solve this issue.

It isn't really. Most hardware monitors read the temps on this cpu very wrong. Go get Open Hardware Monitor. http://openhardwaremonitor.org/ The cpu in this laptop does run a little hot. Expect to idle anywhere from 40c to 55c depending on what power settings you have set  and your ambient temps. Under load the cpu will downclock to 2ghz prevent going over 75c but this will commonly fail and it will run around 76-80c. It's normal. The cpu can handle up to 105c without being damaged so it's kind of disapointing that it downclocks actually.
Oh just noticed you have an A8. I have an A10 but I bet the temps will be about the same.

    Hi,
Only have one temperature monitoring application running or you could end up with erroneous readings.
Try PC Wizzard.  Depending on your hardware, you should see temperatures for CPU, GPU and disk. At the same site you can also try HW Monitor.
I am running a custom motherboard and it comes with its own software for this purpose.  HW Monitor seems fairly complete.

I wonder if that value really relates to memory voltage.
VRAM could mean Video RAM as well.
Maybe it is not a bad idea to Contact SpeedFan-Support and ask for an explanation of this pariticular value/label.

  • Windows 7 x64 Pro, desktop GUI fails to display correctly, or crashes, when High RAM load, and even after. HW changed, same issue. Please Help.

    Hi Guys,
I have have this horror issue with my PC. I have even changed the hardware configuration and the problem still persists. My PC fails to display the desktop correctly after using highly RAM intensive applications, especially Chrome, but even after getting
the chance to close it, or waiting for it to crash by itself, the PC is still not able to display correctly the GUI, even on other browser/applications as shown in the screenshots.
    1st Hardware Config:
    Intel Core2Quad Q9450
    4x2GB DDR2
    MSI P43 motherboard
    Ati Radeon x550 video card
Software used, that seemed important for me to mention:
    NOD32 v4.2
    Comodo Firewall 5.12
    Chrome
    Screenshot Captor
    SpeedFan
    Other mentions:
Aero is disabled, because I've considered that it's one of the causes.
So, I've considered that it's a RAM issue or a videocard issue, and I've upgraded to:
    Intel Core i7 3770k
    4x8GB DDR3
    Asus P8Z77V-LX motherboard
Intel GPU integrated in the 3770k CPU
The problem just happened 2 times on this rig also, and the RAM was not even coming close to  it's maximum capacity of 31.7GB. It was at ~20GB's.
Also, this is another videocard(Intel's integrated GPU), so we can exclude the videocard from the suspects.
    My suspects:
    1) some desktop manager bugs, or other similar issue
    2)  video memory allocation - I'm still suspecting that it can be caused by the amount of RAM dedicated to the videocard, currently, I think  that it is at 256MB.
    3) some poorly designed components of Chrome/Screenshot Captor - still very questionable since there are enough resources on this system, so there should be no fight over resources. And when the system is barely used there are no issues.
    4) Adobe Shockwave Flash - maybe this one????
I have attached a set of 20 screenshots here, these were taken on the 1st configuration of my PC, using Q9450:
    http://imgur.com/a/Mc8hI#4
Notice how it distorts the image by duplicating it and showing it in a smaller space, or how does it displays those black rectangles. In those moments, the PC is fully functional(the apps are running the background), without being slowish or something, but
you can hardly control it like that. For example, I've tried to remove the mouse from the USB, and then I've insterted it back, the image was not displayed correctly, but the mouse was recognised instantly and the pointer was controlable.
Same thing still happens on the new configuration. Please advise me.
LE: OS is Windows 7 x64 SP1 Professional and it's Geniune. There is no cracked software on this PC. No games. I've tried to maintain it as clean as possible.

    Hi,
First, please be ensured that you have installed the latest drivers and all the updates.
Then check whether this issue will not in
Safe Mode. If it didn’t occurred, I suggest you narrow down the cause in
    Clean Boot mode.
In addition, try to create a new profile to see how it works.
    Hope this helps.

  • Windows XP Pro freeze up

I am having a problem with XP Pro randomly freezing on me (still). The annoying part is its quite infrequent, like today I have been using it all day its been running gr8, suddenly a freeze up! Running apps are minimal, virus, adaware OK. It can happen anytime, regardless of what I may be doing on the PC
I have speedfan installed, all temps normal (cpu 32/case 28/NB 51) Standard HS and Fan
I have uninstalled the Corecell software that shipped with the board (Details below) as at the last freeze I managed to get the corecell display up and the CPU clock was showing as 3192 mhz!
This board is new, not overclocked (By me) everything is set to Auto/Slow/Default settings, as I dont need to mess with these settings, as the PC is fast enough for what I need as it is.
The symptoms are always the same. The PC just freezes (Mouse and KB) If I move the mouse, nothing happens for about 10 secs, then the pointer moves (Jerkily) to where it would have stopped if it was working OK.
If I press the windows key for example, nothing happens for about 10 secs, then the start menu pops up. It seems like u can do 3 or so quick commands, then it freezes again.
A reset fixes everything up of course, but thats not solving why its doing this.
The power supply is rated at 380w which is more than enough to handle what I have running (Cordless KB/Mouse, CD-RW, 120GB HD, Floppy, GF4 MX card.
I have Kingston Value RAM and have run memtest on it all night shows no errors
I am beginning to suspect this mobo MSI(Corecell) Using CPUID the realtime clock counter hovers around the 2826/7 mhz mark
The only two errors I get in the event viewer at the time of the freeze are:
"The ring buffer that stores incoming mouse data has overflowed (buffer size is configurable via the PS/2 mouse properties in device manager)." (Warning)
(Error) The System Restore filter encountered the unexpected error '0xC0000001' while processing the file '' on the volume 'HarddiskVolume1'.  It has stopped monitoring the volume.
Both the above I suspect to be as a result of the freeze, not the cause of it
I guess my question is: Are there any software programs that monitor (But more importantly) LOG system vitals like CPU clock speed, PS Voltages, Temps etc, say the preceeding 2 or so minutes (constantly refreshing) so it would make tracking down the culprit so much easier after I reset the machine?
Sorry for the long post :-(
    Intel P4 2.8c 800 FSB
    MSI Neo2 i865 Mainboard
    256 Mb RAM x 2 (Dual Channel)
    MSI Gf4 MX 64 Mb 8x VGA
Hyundai 19" Q910 Dual Colour Screen
WinXP Pro (All SP's and fixes) applied

Thx Domino for your detailed reply..well my mind is at ease knowing that. Its just that i was expecting to see items like Mhz as fixed. I assume then the VCore adjusting by itself is normal as well. As I have said, this board is on default/slow settings, and I dont want to change it, or flash the bios to a newer one, due to the probs I had getting the machne started after the last flash. I am a believer in "leave well enough alone", lol!
I have discounted memory as i have already run memtest about 20 passes with no errors.
It just seems odd that this PC will run for at least 3 to 4 hrs before this occurs. I should also mention that Its a dual boot ( 2 Partitions) with Win98SE on a single WD120 Gb drive, and it goes for the similar length of time in Win98SE (For my Flight Simulator  :D) before it freezes, so I can safely discount the O/S (I thought it may have been one of those unessacary services starting in XP that was causing the problem) but obviously not.
I am seriously thinking it is a power supply issue and that my power supply is just not quite up to the job. Its an MEC jobby from Malaysia that shipped with the case, and is a cheapy, but carnt find anything on google re its stats, unless u believe whats on the sticker.
    The label says:
    +5v      +12v      -5v         -12v        +3.3v    0.5vSB
    14A        8A         0.5v       0.8A          7A         2A
The supply came with the case I bought, was supposed to be 380w, but I doubt that
I plan on adding three more components soon, a WD 80Gb h/disk and a DVD +/- RW, as well as upgrading my card to a ATI Radeon Card with at least 128mb (Not sure which model I can afford, probably a 9200 or something) so that will almost certainly be too much for this suspect P/S so will get a better brand (Antec)
This will rule out the P/S issues as I will be installing the new PS first and running the PC as usual and see how it goes. I will then add the drive, and the DVD drive.
I have discounted software issues as all I have on my Win98SE partition is Flight Sim 2002 and a few addons for FS which are not present when I use XP. The only other app running in Win98SE is a Sygate Firewall.
Thanks again for all your valuable input
    Cheers  Chris

  • PC Alert 4 and Windows XP bluescreens and crashes?

I'm just inquiring as to wether anyone else has had trouble with PC Alert 4?
Is it PC Alert or the newest KT4V-6712 mobo drivers.... which is the culprit?
A few months back, after a routine Live Update (installing the newest versions of my mobo drivers, and PC Alert 4), I began having black screen resets/crashes, and blue screen errors.
Prior to the above mentioned update (running my older mobo drivers and PC Alert 2), my system was fine. No crashes, no blue error screens.
I thought at first it might be the updated AC97 sound drivers, because the crashes seemed to happen when I was in Yahoo voice chat, or I had windows media player running.
Also, it seems that the Live update proggy, when auto installing the drivers, just overwrites the old drivers rather than a proper uninstall of the old, first.
I know this because while installing the new AC 97 drivers 5.620, it hung during install, and I had to restart.
It then showed the new version but also the old version AVRack icon/files, which was weird....
So I tried to uninstall them, thinking it must be a corrupt install.
When I tried to do this, I crashed.
Anyways, after many attempts, I was able to remove them.
I then did a clean install of these new drivers. Still got crashes and blue screens.
So I reformatted my HD, started clean.
Installed the newest drivers for my mobo right from the MSI live update site, including PC Alert 4.
    Of course! Still crashed!
So I reformatted HD again! I hate when things are buggy, perhaps you can relate?
I thought I could narrow it down.....
(These crashes always occured when I was running PC Alert - CoolerXP, Yahoo voice chat, and/or windows media player.) So this time I decided to use older AC97 version 5.490 sound drivers. Installed everything else for the mobo the same, and yes, PC Alert 4!
    Still crashed!
Hmm, maybe the sound drivers aren't the problem.....
So I uninstalled PC Alert 4.
I thought I'd try this just to see.....
    Bingo! Haven't crashed since.
Still might be to soon to tell yet, if PC Alert4 was the BUG?
Still using Yahoo voice chat and windows media player ......no probs!
My CPU runs on average around 44c-47c, so the PC Alert 4-CoolerXP isn't that big a deal. Besides I can check the bios for a more accurate temp.
She doesn't usually get too hot....
And I can always check out 'speedfan'...try it on for a fit!
    Beware Beware compatibility gremlins!:bonk:
Oh I forgot to mention, I realise there's a conflict with PC Alert 4 and Fuzzy Logic, but I didn't (and don't) have Fuzzy Logic installed.
Feedback on this would be greeted with appreciation and enthusiastic interest!
    merci!

Maybe you can try: http://vcool.occludo.net/, or if your motherboard support cpu disconnect, enable it

  • Windows 7 64-bit w/Bootcamp 3.1: GPU runs much hotter than on Bootcamp 3.0

The graphics chipset driver update between Bootcamp 3.0 and 3.1 has left my graphics card working a lot harder and hotter. Examining (using SpeedFan 4.40) the temperature sensors shows that the graphics chipset never drops below 55c, even during periods of idleness. Additionally, fans are running at an audible level (the usual 2k RPM is not within hearing range).
This behavior did not occur on the Bootcamp 3.0 graphics drivers. Fans rarely ran audibly except during load, and the temperatures were much lower.
I've tried a SMC reset (shfit-ctrl-opt and power button while the laptop is off) with no impact.
Anyone else experiencing this issue, or have any suggestions?

    Hello BennB,
    Have you checked compatibility?
    Just an FYI for you.
It is always best to check with the software manufacturer FIRST. They will tell you if they have tested the product and the version, as well as whether or not it will work with Windows 7.
Check out the Windows 7 Compatibility site: (There you will find out about hardware and software compatibilty.)
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/en-us/default.aspx
There is a pulldown from which you can choose "hardware" and "software".
There are also some great articles, instructional videos and such to help with your Windows 7 at our Springboard site:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/default.aspx
In any event a lot of the times, Vista drivers will work in lieu of Windows 7 drivers, however, it's not 100%!
As stated previously, it's best to have the Windows 7 certified drivers installed.
Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assitance and support.

  • Overheating while using Windows XP with Bootcamp

    Hi,
I bought a MacBook Pro last September 2009. The MacBook Pro came with Leopard but I installed Snow Leopard a couple of weeks later.
I need to use some Windows-based programs so I am using Windows XP with Bootcamp. However, I notice a high overheating when using Windows on Bootcamp (especially on the left side of the keyboard). Until now, the system doesn't crash but the overheating is a big problem for typing. This problem does not appear while I work on Snow Leopard.
Please, I would appreciate any help. I installed "SMCFanControl" but it only works under OS X (where there is not the problem). It doesn't control the fan on Windows under Bootcamp. Also, for this, I installed "SpeedFan" but it doesn't recognize the fans.
    Thanks in advance.

A little solution that has helped me.
    install both
    Notebook Hardware Control (NHC)
    http://www.pbus-167.com/nhc/nhc.htm#anchor_download
Notebook Hardware Control has a Max Battery setting when you right click on it's icon in the notification section on the task bar (lower right). Make sure to apply this setting.
    and as suggested by Kappy
    Input Remapper
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Input-Remapper.shtml
This program allows you to adjust your fan speed without having to restart from Mac OS. Which is nice because with SMC if you close your macbook while running XP it will turn the fans off. Therefore you have to restart in Mac OS to turn the fan speeds back up.
The combination of the two has kept my cpu in the 65c range while heavy gaming and 45c at idle.
I have tried a lot of the ridiculous things that have been mentioned in both this thread and others. This solution has been an incredible relief because I certainly didn't want to get up every so often to run to the freezer or play over the air conditioner for several hours. I hope you have as much luck as I did.
My Mac is a late 2009 Macbook pro and I'm running XP in bootcamp.

  • Overheating running Windows

I have a MacBook Pro bought last September 2009.
When I work on Windows under Bootcamp, I notice a high overheating (especially on the left side of the keyboard). This problem does not appear while I work on Snow Leopard (on the same machine).
Please, I would appreciate your help. I tried "SpeedFan" to run on Windows with Bootcamp but it doesn't work on MBP.
    Thank you.

Overheating is a major problem with the unibody MBP's, and especially when running on bootcamp partition. I don't know if this is a hardware issue or a firmware issue, but i hope apple figures it out soon.
Anyways, back on topic. I assume you have either a 15 or 17 inch MBP because those are the ones with 2 video cards. When you boot into WIndows it automatically switches to the 9600M card which runs considerable hotter, and also happens to be on the left hand side of the keyboard. There is nothing you can do to change this as far as I am aware.
There isn't really any solution that i have found. You could download SMC Fan Control (google it) and simply crank the fans up before you boot into windows. On my MBP however(and maybe yours if you leave it in bootcamp long enough), the fans start to ramp up and go after a certain point. And because i use bootcamp only for gaming, I just prop it up on a couple of books and hook up a keyboard to it.
You could try using a program like VMware Fusion to create a virtual windows environment and then you could monitor and adjust fan speeds, not to mention it runs much cooler then bootcamp. This however, will not allow you to game.

  • Fan running high, Windows Vista

I - finally - have Windows Vista Ultimate running properly on my MacBook Pro. But I notice that after I use it for about 10 minutes the fan starts to run high/fast.
    And solution?
    thanks - Otto.

Install InputRemapper. That will insure that the fans run at a minimum 1000 rpm to keep things cool and heat doesn't build up.
Install SpeedFan to monitor the thermal sensor temps - unfortunately it doesn't automatically control fans as it should.
Otherwise, seems like something is causing system to run hot, and for me, it always took hours before I saw that before I started using InputRemapper.
    http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=58373&st=0
But I am not confident that there isn't more to this, like resetting the power or system management control unit or something.

  • Normal Operating Temp. for MBP running windows

    Hi,
Does anybody know what the normal operating temperature for a mbp 2.5, running xp professional is?
The load is just normal office stuff, eclipse, tomcat, explorer..
I've installed speedfan to monitor the temp, it normally stays around 61 C
    This seems high to me.
Anybody know what the official normal temp is.
    Cheers....

I found temps were generally much higher when running windows. The fans kicked in much later than i would have liked. I was running vista not xp.
I found if i ran smcFanControl (set to 3000rpm) in OS X then reboot into windows the fans would retain the new settings and windows would run a lot cooler.
    Hope it helps a bit.

  • Satellite A500 overheating after upgrading to windows 64bit

    Hey,
I just upgraded to 64bit and my GPU temperature has been really high, around 60 degrees Celsius. It goes up to 107 when I run a game. When I had 32bit running I never had this problem, I could play any game without the laptop overheating. I thought at first it was a problem with drivers, or that im missing somthing.
I have updated bios, every single other driver that I could find for my laptop and repeatable reinstalled video card drivers with no change.
Now I have been trying to work out how to change the fan settings, I have noticed the fan starts running fast enough to hear at 55ish degrees and I want to decrease that setting aswells increase the fan speed.
I have tried Speedfan, and like 5 other programs where none of them worked.
I'm also afraid if I just reinstall 32bit that I will have the same problem since there might be some kind of driver or utility I have lost in the format.
Is there a way I can fix this problem? Is there a Toshiba utility or something I might have missed?
Is the A500 not compatible with 64bit? Can the fan settings be changed?
    Thanks in advance

Have you installed the Toshiba Value Added Package? It is an important package because it provides core hardware interfaces.
If it's still overheating, there may be dust buildup in the heatsink. You can remove the dust by using a Can of Compressed Air.
If it's still overheating after removing the dust, updating the BIOS, and testing it with the factory Windows installation, then it's probably a hardware problem. An authorized service provider can investigate the problem. There's an ASP list on the Toshiba website.
