SpeedFan

Is there any way i can change what it displays in the sys tray like instead of it showing my Sys. temp have it show my CPU temp? It also displays my system temp. as "-35", any way I can get rid of the "-" or what does it mean?

When I put "speedfan" in the start>all progs>startup folder is says when i boot up that "the database is locked". How can I prevent this?

Can I use speedfan program to adjust the power supply 's RPM speed ??

Honestly I don't know, never tried.
The P/S would have to have a remote fan lead and be plugged into the motherboard.  If you have that setup I don't see why not..

  • Quick Question re. Everest & Speedfan with Neo4 Platinum

Very brief question - when monitoring my temps using both programs, the numbers are almost identical except for the video card - Everest reports it exactly 10 C higher than Speedfan.  Any idea which is more accurate?  Also, Everest reports sensors on "Aux" and "GPU Ambient" - I didn't think my GPU had two sensors on it, and I have no idea what Aux is.  Thoughts?  (And thanks!)

Aux would be an Auxiliary sensor on the GPU itself, probably a redundancy. The means in which the programs decipher temp information is probably reason for 10 degree diff!

  • Shutting down NB and CPU fans altogether with speedfan for p2p download overnight

    Hi,
Lately I started to keep my computer on overnight for p2p downloads. Problem is, my setup is too loud, thanks to the NB fan esp. I have my computer in the same room as my bed so the smallest DB difference makes an impact on my overall sleep quality
P2P is not a cpu challenge, so right now I am trying this:
Have speedfan turn off both NB and CPU fan when CPU is below 45C.
CPU temp controls both NB and CPU fan as NB readings come from a Hawai beach.
My room is really hot, my system temp is around 40C.
It is also possible to underclock my p4 2.4 down to 1.6ghz with Clockgen.
When Speedfan turns off NBfan, the lights go off to so I am not disturbed in my sleep by the lights
    Now:
Is speedfan's cpu readings dependable?? (It certainly reads different than CoreCenter)
Is stopping the NB fan bad?? Many people even remove it, but stopping it maybe worse than throwing it away in terms of airflow?
Anyhow would my NB warmup at all if you think it handles 200mhz fsb and my FSB will be only 133, so isn't my NB underclocked already, so it wouldn't warm up as much?
Should I underclock my P4 to 1.6ghz so it would keep it and the NB cool even more?
Is this a really bad idea?

  • Advanced setting in Speedfan...?

    Hi
I´ve been setting up speedfan according to Dannys Configuration......for my msi 6728, v2.0 motherboard
Everything are going great..but there are some small questions about the advaced options for the speedfan.
    QUOTE:
    Advanced
SpeedFan sets up these settings OK by default. I find if you select this tab and don't make changes sometimes they change anyway. The correct settings for Winbond W83627HF are:
    Winbond W83627THF
Temperature sensor diode 1 - Thermistor diode
Temperature sensor diode 2 - PII diode
Temperature sensor diode 3 - Thermistor diode
    PWMOUT1 clock - 23.43 KHZ
    PWMOUT2 clock - 23.43 KHZ
    Fan 1 Divisor - 8
    Fan 2 Divisor - 8
    Question 1:
Look at (red text) above, Temp. senor diode 2.........should I really change it to PII diode? If I do I get weird readings......if I leave in "thermistor diode" mode it show correct temp.
    Question 2:
What is PWMOUT1 clock?  It is now by default set to "Manual PWM Controll"
    Plz explain.........

I also try the Bios version 3.0 up to 3.7 and found that for Bios Version 3.5 and below the temp is stuck.(Try to check it by doing cold booting and hot booting) Some people have a proper temp reading with Bios 3.6 and some is not. Other thing is the MAT/PAT doesn't perform properly using bios 3.5 up to 3.7.
Bios 3.7 is considered solve this temp problem on most user.
Recently I'll try two Platinum mobo came with bios 3.5 and the funny thing is both of them read temp 10 C higher then the same mobo came with bios 3.3.

  • North Bridge Temp by SpeedFan 4.09

I tried using MBM to check my temperatures but it seemed to give me wrong readings.  Now I am using SpeedFan 4.09 to check my temperatures.
    Question:
    1.  I believe NB in SpeedFan stands for North Bridge.  Is that correct?
    2.  Is this temperature for the my board being measured correctly?  Read from some other posts that sometimes the temperature measured maybe wrong.
    3.  If correct, how can I cool down my North Bridge?  For CPU, we have the HSF.  For the system, we have intake and exhaust fans.
    My correct temperature readings:
    1. CPU: 39.5 to 48.0, average 40.5 deg C
    2. System: 42 to 45, average = 42.9 deg C
    2. NB: 51 to 53.5, average = 52.2 deg C
    Thanks.

    This is very interesting.
I turned my 12 cm ball bearings fan for the front to become an exhaust fan.  So my system is now with 2 pieces of 12 com ball bearing fans, no intake fan.
After doing some normal light work and copying of huge files from my system to my external usb 2 hard disk (noticed before that the temp goes up when I do this), the temperature is still very nice.  Here's the temp:
    1. CPU: 32 to 42.0, Mean 40 deg C
    2. System: 31 to 40, Mean = 38.9 deg C
    2. NB: 53 to 57, Mean = 53.7 deg C
My cpu and system temp are now almost the same.  The next best thing is that the system is much cooler now, by about 4 deg C.

  • Newb question: can anyone tell me what these Speedfan temps mean???

I just built my first PC (P6N SLI-FI board and Core 2 Duo 6420 chip) and I've got a few questions about cooling (I'm using the stock cooler and the thermal paste that came with the chip):
    1.  I installed Speedfan, but I'm not sure what each temp refers to.  After having the machine run Windows XP for a minute or two, here are my approximate readings (all in degrees Celsius, obviously):
    Temp1= 23
    Temp2= 30
Temp3= 145 (I think this is an error due to lack of a sensor)
    HD0 = 23
    Core0 = 23
    Core1 = 23
After playing Neverwinter Nights 2 for about an hour, Temp2 reaches about 45 (all of the other readings are lower, somewhere in the 30s I think, but I can't remember for sure).
    2.  I'm going to be using my computer mostly for gaming.  What temps should I try to stay below?  Should I think about using Artic Silver 5?  (I really wanted to use it when I put the machine together, but I wimped out because I was worried about voiding the warranty with Intel  )

Thanks for the info.  So, none of the temperatures I've listed represent the ambient temperature?  How do I find out what the ambient temperature is?
The temp in my house was probably about 70F (I didn't actually check at the time) when I measured those temperatures and yes core0 and core1 were roughly 23C.  Again, I only had the computer on for a minute or two when I checked SpeedFan.
Sorry for the delay in responding to your question!
As far as case temperature, I've gone as far as suspending a household thermometer in the vicinity of the HS fan.
Fact: It is impossible for any air-cooling solution to cool the processor below the temperature of the intake airflow. Air cooling solutions, as well as liquid cooling solutions, rely on convection (+conduction and radiation) to transfer the heat off of the CPU. The amount of heat the air mass/flow can absorb is limited by the temperature of the air mass, volume and partial pressure across the heatsink(s). Except for the short time the HS is transitioning from a cooler, non-operational state, where the HS may be cooler than the incoming airflow caused by a newly started system, to the operational state with both case temperature and CPU temperature increasing, the temperature of the HS will always be above the temperature of the surrounding air.
So, given a 70F/21C room temp, you should expect the 'system' (mobo) and core temperatures to be at or probably slightly above 21C if you check Hardware Monitor in BIOS immediately and as much as 10 - 15 degrees C higher by the time you check them in the OS. Again, those figures may be lower or higher by a few degrees depending on the HS/HSF used.
Remember, when evaluating operating temps, always use the delta between case temperature and core temperature (or whichever system temp) rather than the temperature in question on its own. Say you are given two systems that use all the same components except the cooling solution. System A uses air-cooling solution 'Ace' and has a case temperature of 38C with core temps of 43C on each core, while System B uses cooling solution 'Best' and has a case temperature of 23C and core temps of 34C. Which is the better solution?
    The answer is probably TEC.

  • Speedfan Vs. MBM5

I use speedfan as my monitor for CPU temp. Are there any advantages of MBM5 over speedfan?
    Jorge

They are made to work together really. MBM will pick up system temps that Sp[eedfan does not get on it's own otherwise. But they both read basically the same stuff. I think that mbm5 takes less CPU resource though in the end of the day.

  • Speedfan readings/settings

    Hi
Could somebody help with a bit of information about SpeedFan?
I have done a search of this section, and there's quite a lot about SpeedFan, but I can't find the information I'm looking for.
I need to know which elements (CPU, System, Northbridge etc) the temperature readings in Speedfan relate to for my two boards.
    I've got a Neo 875P and a Neo 875P F1S2R.
Also, what should be the safe/ideal temp readings?
    Many thanks
    Tonto

    Thanks for this
    Have downloaded both.
HW monitor shows a display with three temperatures (as does Speedfan), provided by Winbond W83627HF.
    TMPIN0   32
    TMPIN2   62
    TMPIN2   40
    All in degrees celsius.
Problem is, I don't know which temeperatures are which, and I can't find a tab in Everets that tells me what Winbond is measuring/connected to...
I'm running a P4 3.2ghz (my first machine shown in my signature).
    Any help gratefully received

  • Speedfan and CPUID both show 10v on the 12v line.

The Bios shows 12v or close to it.   Is there something wrong with the way  those programs are interpreting the sensor?
      P55-cd53 here.
Anyone else see this bad reading?
Speedfan temps are also not  right.

It's a software error on the part of Speedfan or you have it configured to read the wrong sensor.  Most likely, the program will need an update for it to read the sensor correctly.  If the bios shows 12V, then you are fine. In fact, your machine wouldn't be running if the 12V line was really only 10V.  I would just keep checking for updates to Speedfan.
You can try other software to check temps and voltages--such as HW monitor, Everest, Coretemp.

  • Speedfan configuration

Hi I've down loaded speedfan and installed it but cannot find where I can adjust fan speeds! I entered the configuration and clicked the Fan tab but no fans were listed can any one advise please

What did you enter in the configuration?
Click on the INFO tab, click on Send Report.
I think I need to download using "Get Config" on that tab.
Even though it shows chipset as *Intel 631xESB $5000 revision 0...9*
I don't think it has an entry or knows how to probe more than FBDIMM, cpu and hard drive temps, which do seem accurate. And I did create an Event alert if FBDIMM goes over 75C.

  • Speedfan temperature called (temp1)?

I have speedfan 4.40 installed and it indicates HD1, HD2, Temp1 and Core etc. I'm wondering what does temp1 indicate? Is temp1 the gpu?

I have the same board you do with a 3000+ but running original 1.1 bios.
For mine Temp 1 is the chipset, Temp 2 is CPU, and Temp 3 seems to be case temp.  For me T1=35, T2=38, and T3=51.  I think Temp 3 is bogus because as soon as I startup core center, it instantly goes down to around 43 and stays there.  Temp 3 does not even show up on corecenter.

  • SpeedFan cannot find fan on T43

I spoke to the author of SpeedFan and the problem was that it seems it is special designed chips in the laptop.
Because of that he cannot find where to find that information.
The program finds the temprature for System and CPU, but not for fan.
    Can somebody enlighten us!?
    Thanx!

    Welcome to the forum!
Google for "T43 fan control" and you'll find the utility by that (or very similar) name that controls your fan speed depending on the temperature, that you can program yourself to engage/disengage fan at certain temparatures.
    Hope this helps.

  • Speedfan windows 8.1

    Hello there,
My product name is 20-2010et, it's an all-in-one pc with windows 8.1. Pentium CPU J2900 @2.41 GHz and I have recently bought it.  I'm not a gamer and I don't force my pc by running lots of programs at the same time. So, I wonder if I can reduce my fan speed (it's loudy) using "speedfan 4.49" and if so, can you guide me for the process as the youtube videos did not help.
By the way, I write from Turkey and I made a phone contact with HP support line but they did not help me to change my fan settings. So you're my only hope to solve this issue.

It isn't really. Most hardware monitors read the temps on this cpu very wrong. Go get Open Hardware Monitor. http://openhardwaremonitor.org/ The cpu in this laptop does run a little hot. Expect to idle anywhere from 40c to 55c depending on what power settings you have set  and your ambient temps. Under load the cpu will downclock to 2ghz prevent going over 75c but this will commonly fail and it will run around 76-80c. It's normal. The cpu can handle up to 105c without being damaged so it's kind of disapointing that it downclocks actually.
Oh just noticed you have an A8. I have an A10 but I bet the temps will be about the same.

  • Speedfan Temp cpu/sys

    hi all
im new for this forum, but im not a real newb.. eheh..
i tried the setup for the speedfan.... quite fun to know.. but really strange...
    thermistor diode : cpu : idle: 26°C   load (prime95) 48°C
sys : ~37-38 (quite hot for my config)
    PIIdiode : cpu idle : 38°C load 42°C
                    sys : 128°C
ok.. lets talk about my fan config... i got an x-gear case so i got a side panel fan intake... i change the fan for a better one and put a tube to get the air directly to the cpu fan (about less than half inch tube-cpufan), i strong 80 mm fan on the back panel.. i already cut the case's grill infront the fan its a intake to (blow inside case) i got a slot fan under my vid card (2 pci slot lower) and a top fan on the top of the case.. i got a psu double fan (aerocool) so its another "outtake" fan over my cpu heatsink...  i got 2 hdd ... its  a good hot point :P
So what is the trouble??i found 42° a lil low for load temp.. but 26° really low for an idle.. in a 37° case...37 isnt hot for my fan config?
    Thx
    Frog

Look at my signature for the level of detail people want to see in order to help you.  Make up a similar signature and that way the info will always be displayed.
I am running a similar configuration to you and I found when I went to AMI 3.3 my temperatures as reported by speedfan and corecenter dropped 10C. I am suspicious of these numbers because my case heat sensors of it's own and it reports higher. If you use corecenter it seems to report about 3-4C higher than speedfan.
I guess as long as you are not overheating, the values reported can be viewed as a cohesive set and you can monitor and set fan speeds based upon changes.Thats what I do.
My case has a lot of fans (7) and as a result maybe our numbers don't quite compare, but what I see is about like this:
Idle: 19-40C depending upon room temperature and how long the system has been running.
loaded: 48-55C and the fans start cranking when this happens.
My case (system?) temperature never is as hot as the CPU.
Finally...let me restate...I distrust the numbers ever since I went to AMI 3.3, but even before then I never saw the CPU go over 65C and I wrote Intel support and they told me that prescott temperatures were within spec as long as it was under 69C.
I don't think this answered your question, but maybe this will help.
