SpeedGrade can't read my black magic camera raw properly

SpeedGrade can't read my black magic camera raw properly. I can get corrcet color if I import my black magic camera raw footages into photoshop, after effect and DaVinci Resolve. However, I get the ugly green look whenever I import my raw footages into Speedgrade.

Hi woolen.woods,
it's certainly possible to use an X-Rite chart, but you'll find that the values aren't very stable across changes to WB, Exposure, Dynamic Range.
So you'd essentially have to do this with every shot which makes it less practical.
What we'll have to investigate for SpeedGrade is a way to use the Matrix information for the BMD cam similar to Lightroom and apply that by default, so you'd have a nicely color balanced picture to begin with - provided there's enough request for this feature (which is currently not the case - but I personally think that's subject to change once there are more cameras out there producing more footage).
For now you might be better off batch processing the footage with an ACR enabled application - After Effects would come to mind.
Hope this is helpful.
Best,
Patrick

  • Is there a limit on the size of SDHC card that can be read with the iPad camera connectioin kit?

Is there a limit on the size of SDHC card that can be read with the iPad camera connection kit?

I've successfully connected 32 gig SDHC and CF cards so if there is an upper limit, it's at least 32 gig.
I know SDXC will not work.
With the cards that don't work, have they been formatted correctly? the camera connection kit will only read cards holding images. (Well, it'll only see the images) And those images have to have a file name of exactly 8 characters (DSC_2342 for example) and they  have to be in a folder named DCIM.
    Anything else it wont' read.
I put a photo on there called 'Christmas' and the connection kit won't see it. I put a photo on there in the DCIM folder named XMAS2342 it'll see that.
So it's possible that those cards weren't read because they weren't speaking the right language.

  • I'm going back to cs4 after using cs6 and I can't open nef files in camera raw.

I'm going back to cs4 after using cs6 and I can't open nef files in camera raw.

Each camera needs a specific camera raw version (ACR).  And each ACR is tied to a specific version of PS.  See this list http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

  • Can you set the curves in Camera RAW 3.6?

    HI.
I'm trying to do some color correction up front in Camera RAW 3.6 so that I don't have to do it directly in Photoshop. Say if I set color samplers for my white, grey, and black points. I'd like to correct/neutralize them within the Curves tab of Camera RAW 3.6. Is that possible? If so, how?

    > ... what is a good workflow for RAW? I thought I could do it all in Camera RAW.
Even with CS2, you can accomplish 90% of your workflow with ACR. For example, for ~70% of your images ACR can be 100% of your workflow, and for 20% be 95% of your workflow ... leaving as little for PS as possible. YMMV of course, but ACR 3 can accomplish a lot, but it wasn't intended to replace some of the tools in PS.
Altho I haven't yet upgraded, ACR4 is a considerable upgrade and offers many more of the tools available in PS (e.g., red eye removal). Tonal adjustments you need may be accomplished with whitepoint, exposure, blackpoint, brightness, contrast; however, they are predictable algorithms that cannot be manipulated with a curve ... altho a curve is provided for the RGB output but not as easy to use as PS's. The "Real World ACR" texts will fill you in with much of the power offered by a workflow using ACR and Bridge. A definite good read!

  • Can't Open .NEF Files In Camera Raw CS3 - Windows 7

    I have a Nikon D60, Windows 7 Professional (32bit) and  Web Premium CS3.
I recently upgraded from XP to Windows 7.
I cannot get my Nikon's .NEF (Camera Raw) files to open when I select "Open in Camera Raw". I can see the .NEF thumbnails, but neither Photoshop or Bridge will open the files in Raw, you know where you can adjust all those killer settings non destructively.
I had cs3 installed on an XP machine and my .NEF files worked perfectly in Raw.  Not so in Windows 7. I have tried to update to Camera Raw 5.6 but that wouldn't install. Is there an earlier version of CR that I can get and use, or any other advice would help.
    Thanks

The last version of Camera Raw to work in Photoshop CS3 is version 4.6. If you HAD been able to open your D60 NEF files and now can not, then something changed...did you do a fresh install of CS3 under Win 7? If so you installed version 4.0 (what shipped with CS3). You'll need to go to the Camera Raw Updates for Windows and download an install version 4.6.

  • Can't get latest version of Camera Raw.  Stuck at 8.3.0.141 - spent an hour on CHAT but they apparently accidently disconnected session.

I have been stuck at Camera Raw 8.30.141 and was hoping last nights updates to CC 2014 would help.  No such luck. I spent an hour on Chat doing all kinds of stuff with no success.   Now, while I am waiting to get back on chat, thought I would see if someone has any ideas.

OK - this Chat Agent (Tanvi A) used the brute force method and downloaded a 57mb zipped file that contained Camera Raw 8.5.0.236.  Then unzipped it and copied it over the existing version in Common Files, plug-ins for both the x86 & 64bit folders.  She did not give me the link so that I can share with the forum.  The zipfile name is camera+raw+8.5.zip .  When unzipped - there are two versions, one is inside an x86 folder and the other is not.  Two different files that go into the appropriate folder??    We did 'share screen' so it was difficult for me to capture everything she did.  I actually thought she overlaid the first copy with the second file but it seems to be working.
    Full folder location (I'm running Win 8.1)  c:/Program Files (x86)/Common/Adobe/Plug-ins/CC/File Formats/CameraRaw.8bi
The actual file name is CameraRaw.8bi and appears to be the same NAME as the previous version because she overwrote the file.
My concern still is the Creative Cloud application did not detect the out of date CR version and automatically update it with last nights PS CC 2014 updates.  What happens on the next update?

  • How can I solve chromatic abberation in camera raw?

    Hi,
I got some trouble with chromatic abberation in camera raw (PSE 9 + camera raw 6.5).
I always take my photos in raw+jpeg. I noticed that when I open a photo in camera raw I get lots of chromatic abberation, which I don't have in my jpegs straight from the camera.
I have read something about camera / lens profiles that should correct this, but I can't really find how to do this in my camera raw.
Can anyone please advise me on how to load lens profiles (preferably preset) into my camera raw!?
Is this even possible with camera raw 6.5?
I really appreciate your help cause I still got lots of raw pictures to edit.
    Thanx in advance!
    Jorn

Sorry, there is another way, which I'd forgotten about, because I almost never use it.
Say you make these edits, and only these edits: Exposure -1.0 stop, Contrast +20 and Shadows +100, in that order (the values don't matter, they're just random examples).
Now, to cycle back through the edits in reverse order to that which you made them, use Ctrl + Alt/Option + Z.
Pressing once gets you back to the image as edited only by Exp and Contrast. Twice gets to Exp only.
Three times eliminates Exp and you're back to where you first opened the image in ACR.
To re-instate the edits in the original order, press Ctrl + Shift + Z.
But this procedure can get messy and confusing in 3 circumstances that I can think of, just off the top of my head.
First, if you move a slider whilst experimenting with your edits (say, for example, Clarity +20) but then reset it to zero because it does not work as expected.
Now, when you cycle backwards or forward, your abandoned Clarity edit will be shown.
Secondly, if you make more than 3 edits, it can become difficult to remember in what order you initially made them and you can get lost when cycling back and forth.
Thirdly, if you have made any presets and these are applied automatically when first opening the image in ACR, the cycling can once again become more difficult to keep track of.
Whilst the use of Snapshots in the manner I first suggested is more cumbersome, it guarantees that you can keep track of your edits and compare their before and after effect.

  • Can't update to the current Camera Raw

    Hi there,
i'm using Photoshop CS5 and i just tried to update Camera Raw to the current version, but it only updates to Camera Raw 6.7
Now i cant open my files, because my Camera is not supported.
    Can anybody help?

The most economical way to solve the problem is to use the DNG converter (free from Adobe) and create digital negative copies of your raw files. Or, you could incorporate Lightroom into your workflow. Or, you could upgrade to Photoshop CC. I think you can still purchase Photoshop CS6 as well. You're going to have to do something if you want to continue using Adobe products. Another choice would be to use the software provided with your camera.

  • Can PSE 12 open and process Camera Raw pictures taken with Canon GIX Mk. 2 camera?

I have bought a new Canon GI X Mk. 2 camera. I consider to update my Photoshop Elements 9 to new the newest 12 version, but I will only do that if the PSE 12 can manage Camera Raw pictures taken with my new camera. Can anyone help?

Yes, but you will have to install the Camera Raw 8.5 or later update. Go to Help > Updates to start the update process. You can verify what version of Camera Raw you have installed by going to Help (Win) or Photoshop Elements (Mac) > About Plug-in > Camera Raw.

  • Can the Starter Edition open a Camera Raw file?

...might be asking a lot, but does anyone know the full list of file formats that the Starter Editon can open?

Starter Edition can show JPG, TIF and BMP image files along with MOV, AVI, MPG and 3GP (mobile) video files.
Camera raw are supported by Photoshop Elements and not by Starter Edition.
Comparision of Starter Edition and Photoshop Elements is listed at

  • Getting a message that Photoshop can't open a file because Camera Raw isn't supporting lens profile

For months, I have been using Lightroom 4.4, Camera Raw 7.4 with Photoshop CS5 and my Nikon D600 and Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-85    3.5-4.5 lens.  In my LR workflow, I enable Profile Corrections and there is a drop down for the lens model as well as a profile.  Today, I am getting this message when I go to edit in Photoshop
Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw.
Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information.
I don't know what has changed, or what to do.  Need some help

In Photoshop CS5 do Help / About Plug-ins… / Camera Raw and see what version it says and if there is more than one Camera Raw listed.
Unless CS5 was a typo, PS CS5 only supports up to ACR 6.7 which does not support the D600 so that is why you’re getting that message.
Why you weren’t getting the message, before, is the question.  In LR’s preferences find the button that says something like Reset Warning Dialogs and click that, then the next time you try to open one of your raw files in CS5 from LR 4.x click Render using LR Adjustments and put a checkmark in Don't show this again, and you should be ok, although in this mode, LR creates a TIF or PSD (how ever you have it set up in the External Editors preferences) and PS opens that intermediate file.

  • How / where can I donwload latest version of Camera Raw in order to open my D4s raw pictures ? I actually have Photoshop CS5 on Mac OS 10.9

Hello, it's all in the title :
How / where can I donwload the latest version of Camera Raw in order to open my D4s raw pictures ? I actually have Photoshop CS5 on Mac OS 10.9
What is the process too ?
    Thank you.

Raw support is version specific. There is no way to simply force install a new version of ACR into an older Photoshop. You need to consider upgrading or use the DNG converter.

  • Can not find folder to load camera raw presets on MAC.  I have searched and says to drop in the library/application support/adobe/camera raw/settings folder but I do not have this folder or can no locate it. I get as far as lib/appsupoort/adobe/camera raw

I just made the switch to mac. I am have installed all the new PS6 CC and bridge and I am not trying to add some presets to my  ACR but when I search for the folder to place them it is not there.  From what I researched it says it should be under camera library/application support/adobe/camera raw/settings but I can only get to library/application support/adobe/ and then there are two different camera raw options I have checked both and there are not settings folder. If anyone can help me please thanks

  • Can´t open files directly in Camera Raw from Bridge.

I get this message: "Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature."
It has been working before without problems. Bridge 6.0.1.6   OS X  10.10

I should add that JPGs edited with ACR usually need to be writable for ACR to be able to store the adjustment-settings inside themselves.  RAW files typically use an XMP sidecar to store settings, but JPGs typically don't.
If the files weren't read/write then ACR would have no way to store the adjustments in them and so is smart enough to not make them available for editing.
The other hint is that if you copy the files to your desktop--where the permissions are likely to be more friendly, they work.
To check the permissions, right-click on one of the files in Explorer, select Properties from the context menu and look at the Security tab.  Look at the various user-groups, like Users, Authenticated Users, Administrators, etc, and see what access each has to one oft he problem files, and then to one of the files that works ok.
You might also check the Effective Rights of a particular user to a particular file by clicking on the Advanced button in the Security tab.  Here is an example where I show only Read + Read & Execute access to an NEF for general users, but when I check my own logged in User (steve) I have Full Control which includes all the other access privileges, and this is either because I'm in the Administrators group or I am the owner, I'm not sure.  It is possible that Bridge or Photoshop is running in a user context other than your logged in user, or it's possible that another user accessed the files and changed the permissions to them.
