Speedgrade crashing with dynamic link

when ever i open a premiere pro cc project in speedgrade through dynamic link or just opening the project in speedgrade from opening it crashes. is there a way to keep this from happening? I am using a windows 7, core i7.

AJA is a manufacturer of digital video interfaces. http://www.aja.com/
Maybe you have one AJA card for getting an SDI output signal?
Thanks,

  • SpeedGrade crashes with Direct Link

I have been trying to direct link for the last few months to SpeedGrade with no success as it crashes when direct linking. If there is blank space at the start of the sequence  it loads but crashes as soon as you try to move the cursor which jumps onto a clip. It never displays a preview of the video before crashing. I've tried it with various video codecs (ProRes, h.264 and MTS files from a Sony FS700) at 1080p but it seems to crash on anything I've throw at it.
Speed Grade does not crash when starting a new SpeedGrade project and manually adding clips but unfortunately all my original files at present are MTS which SpeedGrade can only open via Direct Link.
Any ideas on how to solve this issue? Let me know if you need more information.

Do you have NEAT VIDEO (de-noiser) or FXfactory plugins install on your machine (for Premiere Pro or AE).  I had the exact same issue... here is an excerpt for the FIX (from NEAT VIDEO) if you have NEAT VIDEO De-noiser installed somewhere on your machine.  It 100% worked for me!!
Yes, we also received some messages about that. We are currently helping Adobe to find a way to make Speedgrade work properly. It is that recent update of Speedgrade that triggered the problem.
The simplest solution for now (for the Mac version of Premiere and Speedgrade) is to move (not copy but move) Neat Video plug-in (alias) from
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-Ins/7.0/MediaCore
    to
    /Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro CC/Adobe Premiere Pro CC.app/Contents/Plug-Ins/Common/

  • Time Ramping with Dynamic Link

I tried to dynamic link to after effects and make a time ramp in AE however the audio is still not ramping with the footage. Is this possible or do I have to export out of AE to do a Time Ramp (which would be pointless in regards to dynamic linking).
    Thank you,

You have already been provided with step by step explanation:
    - when you replace a clip in PrPro timeline with dynamically linked AE composition, that dynamically linked composition appears as an asset in PrPro Project panel. If you have difficulties with understanding what Project panel is, start with Premiere Pro basics;
    - dynamically linked composition in the Project panel is an ordinary reusable asset like any other asset imported into the project, and it contains 2 channel stereo. If you drag this asset from the Project panel and drop it into the timeline, that 2 channel stereo, which represents the result of your manipulations with the audio inside dynamically linked composition in respective AE project, will also be brought into PrPro timeline.
If you still do not understand all the above, provide step by step description of what you are doing exactly, because I can't read your mind and have no the slightest idea what can be unclear and therefore cause any issue with bringing audio from dynamically linked composition into PrPro timeline.

  • Issue with Dynamic Link with Premiere CC and After Effects

I'm having a strange and annoying issue with Dynamic linked clips in Premiere CC:
When I render or export my timeline the progress will stall when it hits a dynamic linked clip.  It will stay stalled until I click the After Effects application and make it the active window.  Once that happens the render/export resumes at normal speed.
This is annoying as I can't start a render and walk away or work on different windows, I have to babysit all the renders to make sure they go through.
Has anybody experienced this and know of any solutions?
I'm running the latest version of Premiere (7.2.1) and After Effects 12.2.0.52 on Mavericks 10.9.1 with a GTX 770 Video Card.

Does it still pause if AE is closed completely? I often experience slower AME renders from Premiere over dynamic link material when AE is open. Closing AE speeds things up. Go figure.

  • After Effects won't close/Problems with dynamic links

When I quit After Effects the icon still shows up and it says that it is still open, even force quit will not work. Also having problems with dynamically linked files between after effects and Premiere pro. Rendering in Premiere doesn't work unless I go to AE, save the project, then go back to Premiere. I have OSX Mavericks 10.9.2, a late 2012 mac pro, and AE CC 12.2.1.5

Kevin: would appreciate further thoughts on this.
I am using Pr2014, version 8.0.0 I am using AE2014, version 13.0.2.3. When I was on earlier versions of each, I had no problem importing AE comps into Pr. I'd choose import in Pr, then select the AE project, then select the comp. But with my new and improved versions of AE and Pr, I keep getting "importer reported a generic error."
I also tried to go the other way. I selected in Pr the clips I wanted to work on in AE, and then tried "replace with AE comp" but got the "generic error" message again..
Finally, I attempted to create a Dynamic Link from Pr via the File menu, but with each of the options from there, I got "failed to connect to AE Dynamic Link"
Any advice you can share, would be most welcome.

  • Extremely slow PP Export with Dynamic Links

I have very slow exports from Premiere Pro that are entirely made with Dynamic Links to AE (green screen footage).
It's taking about 4+ hours to export a 12 minute video!
I'm on an iMac late 2012
    3.2 GHz Intel Core i5
    24 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1024 MB
    OS Yosemite
Footage is on an external HD
Project file is on main HD
Writing exported file to external HD
I've followed several troubleshooting tips including:
    Uninstall and re-install CC 2014
    Clean adobe media files
    Check permissions on all folders
Switch Open CL to Software Only
Unchecked "Display out of sync indicators for unlinked clips"
    Disabled "Show Duplicate Frame Markers"
    Disabled "Show FX Badges"
I've also tried changing the location of where the final file is written to.
I've also tried this on my MBP with 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM and AMD 6750M
    Same results.
Any ideas? Am I missing something obvious here?
    Thanks.

  • First Day With Adobe SpeedGrade CC with Direct Link

I thought it would be interesting to share my first day using the new Adobe SpeedGrade CC with everyone. Most would be embarrassed to do this, not me.
This is NOT a tutorial, but more of a way to show you what I am struggling with and what I like. So if you are having your first day with this program you might run in to similar items.
Perhaps even a product manager from Adobe might watch this and help him what they should work on next.
    Issues I had:
    Where are the Curves adjustments?
How do I sharpen an image?
Can you use the tracker backwards?
    Why didn’t my track work?
Playback at 10fps (not real time with my Monster Computer)
    How do you blend layers?
How do you zoom into the timeline?
    Things I love:
    Doesn’t crash like Resolve
    DIRECT LINK!!!! Love it!
2 up and 3 up for shot matching.
    No more XML and EDL!!!!

    Dave,
I'm basically a noob here too ... only been working with this for what, 5 months?
Yea ... would LOVE the option to switch to a curves-based control, one each for luminosity/R-G-B at the least. I've put in a feature-request for that, as have apparently some others. Maybe next year in ... oh well.
Also ... you might have noted, there's no skin line in the vectorscope! Ridiculous, and that's ALSO been feature-requested by people ... again, maybe next year in ... oh well.
Still ... but dang this program does work fast in concert with P-Pro as your NLE. One bit of advice. In a P-Pro/Sg/Ae workflow, the link from/to P-Pro and Speedgrade works perfectly well both ways. HOWEVER ... your Sg grades do not come into Ae if you send the project from P-Pro to AfterEffects. Now ... if you save your P-Pro projects with it's Sg grades ... then open Ae and use its Dynamic Link feature to pull a P-Pro project into Ae, your grades from Sg come in just fine thank you.
And anything you do in Ae comes into Sg on a different layer that you aren't allowed to 'touch', so you can do fx work afore grading and see how the footage looks including the fx, but you can't touch the fx layer of the timeline (other than to turn on/off visibility in the monitor) to do anything to it.
Still ... easy workarounds, NO time to transcode/export/import ... glory hallelujah!

  • Encore constantly crashes using dynamic link....

Not sure what's going on here, but I just wanted to see if anyone knew what was going on. For some reason when I use dynamic link from Adobe Premiere to Encore it constantly crashes immediately.
The project is just over an hour long with loads of edits.
    Thanks

    DStrange,
Thanks for reporting that. It can solve some "DL crashes Encore" problems.
Rookie, a first step (which you may have done) is to see if Encore can be opened on its own, do basic functions (e.g. add a menu from the library etc). If yes, then look at whether it is only the one Premiere sequence, etc.
And, yes, try DStrange's solution. You don't have to add chapters to see if works. Chapters are one of the thinks that can cause issues, so a no-chapter version is a good troubleshooting step.

  • Insufficient resources error - Speedgrade - Premiere Pro dynamic link

    Morning all,
I'm getting an error as follow:
Insufficient Resources - GPU-enabled rendering disabled due to insufficient GPU recources. Relaunch SpeedGrade to re-enable GPU rendering.
I've tried rebooting and I get the same problem. It means that this workflow between PP and SG are no longer viable. Is my system struggling with the volume of data?
Media is from a Sony FS700 (AVCHD files) and 5dmk3 (h.264). I work using the dynamic link between PP and SG. I used SG to colour my rough edits from PP. Have used this technique for a long time and not had an issue. The only difference about this project is the volume of media is very high. I've shot around 250gb of data. This is broken up in the project into short timelines, edits etc and I'd assumed that the volume of media in the PP project wouldn't influence the dynamic link to SG connection but this is the only thing I can think of that's different about this project. Not knowing how the system processes that connection via dynamic link leads me to thing that SG is struggling to read such a big PP project but I might be wrong here.
Anyone got any ideas what causes this error and if there is anything I can do to rectify it?
    Ta,
    Alan
    My system is as follows:
    Windows i7 3770 3.4Ghz
    16GB RAM
    Nvidia GTX 680 Graphics card
Editing from a Lacie RAID via usb 3 connection
Latest version of Adobe creative cloud for PP and SG
    The error I'm getting...

As dummergold notes, this has been an irritating problem for some, and a complete show-stopper for a select few lucky folks. I "caught" this on the initial release, and for a month, I couldn't work Direct Link at all. I could work Sg in a native mode (creating an Sg project) ... but then of course, you either have to get Sg to accept an EDL from PrPro (which can be tricky at times, smooth as silk others) or grade the footage then render/export to work in PrPro, or export a completed file from PrPro in a codec Sg takes, use the clip-detection feature in Sg, and grade then export. It's how "we" did it before, of course, but it's a PAIN now.
So ... hopefully, in a couple days at most, after starting & stopping the thing a few times, maybe trying the alt/shift hold-down while starting thing to void the preferences file. A couple people had it stop on signing out & back into their CC account. Or maybe even using the Adobe CC Cleaner tool to uninstall both PrPro & Sg, then download & re-install. There's always the possibility of going back to 2014.1 BUT ... you have to do that with both PrPro & Sg, and if you use say Ae or Audition, them also ... and any project started in 2014.2 won't work in 2014.1.
They showed off the new release at NAB, which is an amazing new tool ... literally ... and they think they've got this nailed down in that release so it will finally STOP happening. However, the date it goes public is anybody's guess. They demo'd last year at NAB, and it was sometime in June that 2014 "launched" publicly. Wish I could be more help, but yes ... do look back through that post above. Your machine is very much like mine except for the video card, and I would note ... even a hard-drive RAID via a USB3 connection isn't giving a great sustained throughput. eSATA would be near to double the sustained in/out, and Thunderbolt rather a bunch more than USB3. I'd suggest going to the Tweaker's Page and finding the stuff on disk in/out & types of connections tested and such.  Note, unlike the Theory of disk in/out & connection performance (manufacturers and MANY "knowledgeable" types), their data is from thousands of tests on real machines running specially designed sequences with logging programs "on" that check out what doth happen in reality.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects CS5.5 Lagging Horribly with Dynamic Link

I just bought a brand new computer. It is a beast
    Windows 7 64-bit
Intel i7-980 6 cores with HT = 12 CPU cores
    Nvidia GTX 570HD 1280mb 328 bit
    120gb SSD sata 3
    600 gb Velociraptor drive 10000rpm
    8gb DDR3 1866MHZ ram
So you would think I would get no lag. But for some reason, when I edit in premier pro or after effects, especially when I use dynamic link with premiere and after effects. It lags realllllly badly. I am talking about 5fps and I have to pause and wait like 20 secs then hit play again to get 5 secs of smoothness and then the laggyness returns. I am not even using heavy footage. It is footage off of a Canon 5D Mark II h.264. I tried messing around with all the settings but I cannot get anywhere. Anyone know what the problem might be? I don't have any other programs running since I just installed these. This lag is really holding me back and I cannot edit properly because of it.

Your memory is ill configured, since you are using it in dual channel mode instead of triple channel mode and 8 MB is about bare minimum. You would be better off if you were to increase memory to 24 GB. Secondly, your disk configuration is the absolute minimum requirement, so adding a couple of disks will help performance as well.
I am not even using heavy footage. It is footage off of a Canon 5D Mark II h.264
Mistake. It is one of the most demanding codecs on the market. Look here: Adobe Forums: System requirements for CS5
You could try the PPBM5 Benchmark to see how well your setup performs.

  • Create and link to After Effects compositions with Dynamic Link (Production Premium or Master Collection only)

i have adobe creative suite master collection cs5... i'm currently editing  my project in advertising in premiere pro and tried to replace my clip with an AE, then this window appeared saying "adobe dynamic link needs production premium." but your post says that it works on master collection too. can you tell me a fix that does not require uninstalling or deactivating coz i need to finish my project by tom and my time is running out thanks

If you're under time constraints, just render the clip out of AE and import it into Premiere.  You can worry about getting Dynamic Link straightened out later.
If you're unwilling to do a total uninstall, run the Adobe Cleaner application and then reinstall, you really have very little choice in the matter.  Get busy.

  • No Audio with Dynamic Link

I've got a clip from After Effects CS3 that is dynamically linked to my Premiere Pro project. The clip has audio in After Effects and it's turned on, but the audio shows up blank in Premiere Pro. Just wondering if there is something special I need to do to get the clip's audio to work in Premiere Pro.
    Thanks

    >As a work around, you could always just overwrite the DL Comp's audio in the sequence with the original audio file.
I thought about that, but I was hoping to find an answer to the issue so I didn't have to do that every time.
    >Additionally, what is the audio file in AE? Does that file conform to
your project settings in Premiere? Or have you dropped an MP3 file on a
into the layer window in AE?
It's just an SD DV video clip of an interview that was captured into Premiere Pro from a miniDV tape and I took it into AE to cover up something in the background. The audio plays fine in the original clip. The audio works fine in AE when I do a RAM Preview or use the num pad "." to play it back.
Harm, what additional information did you want? I thought I explained my issue pretty well, but let me know what else I should have included so that I can make sure and include it next time.
