Speedgrade CS6 won't apply my Look in the final output

So I have this problem where I try to output a quick color graded version of my source footage, but the final output shows no difference.  In other words, I import DSLR footage, make all the necessary adjustments (in this case I just applied a look that I saved previously) in SG then render it out as a ProRes 422.  The ProRes version looks the same as my source (DSLR) footage (minus a few megabytes) and doesn't look as if my saved look was ever applied.
My Output settings are as follows: (NOTE: I have changed all of my output settings trying to solve this problem and, no dice.  So I can only assume that it's not a problem with my output settings)
Output:
Format & Options = Apple ProRes 422.  Automatic color calibration = Unchecked.  Write ALE file to output path = Unchecked.  Render annotations = Checked
Use the same burn-in as playback, No calibration lookup table, Time code source = Source
Framing:
Full Image (No Proxy).  1:1 (square).  1080p
Render
Offline Quality (fast).
My system specs are:
Mac Pro OS X 10.10.1 (Late 2013)
3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5
16 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC
AMD FirePro D500 3072 MB
Hop I provided enough info.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

With your theory in mind of it being a permissions problem, I went ahead and moved my Looks from an external drive to my computer.  Still no dice.  Although, do you believe that it might need to be in a particular place on my computer?  Like say, a SpeedGrade folder inside and Adobe folder inside my library folder?  I don't see why that would matter.  I found a rather time consuming fix.  If I open the Look in After Effects, I can apply it to the video clip but that's just a little convoluted.
I'll keep searching for a solution and post any updates.  Thanks for your help thus far!

  • When I apply a plug in compressor on the final output track I get a click

1/I am applying a compressor on to a particular point of the track (in the final output track) and naturally all tracks go louder.. however my problem is at that point where the compressor switches on from its previous bypass status, I get a click. this is a problem I always have when suddenly I introduce a 'serious' plug into the final mix... your suggestions will be very welcome
2/ While my output never goes over 2.0 below the threshold 0.0 some times the final mix gives me much unwanted buzz in the speakers which must come from individual samples - probably samples that cant take that sort of compression- is there a standard way or a more conventional approach to compress the final mix so you get the loudness of everything still without buzz... a particular logic setting that seems to work for many cases perhaps with instrumental and orchestral work?
3/ would you compress track by track first and go through everything in this laborious way or just experiment on the final output track is equally the same?
I ll be grateful for any valuable advise..

Gosh, that was quick! Or perhaps you were just way ahead of me…
1 • This may not be the answer if it really is happening with many plug-ins, but you can get a click when a compressor cuts in if the attack setting is too short. And if the mix is getting louder at that point, you might consider turning down the gain on the compressor.
2 • If you're compressing a whole mix, then individual samples are not going to be "unable to take it". Check for the buzz with the speaker volume turned right down, or in headphones, or examine the final stereo mix audio file to look for clipping… because it may just be the speakers. If it's still definitely there, you need to find the source of the distortion, & the best way is to eliminate possible sources one at a time. Compression wouldn't be my preferred suspect, unless you have the gain cranked up. Which in light of the above, perhaps you have!
3 • Compression on the whole mix should be as effective as on individual tracks, but this is assuming you have already taken care to ensure your tracks are in a fit state. Compression introduces noise (can't be helped!), & in a mix it may be hard to hear just where that pesky noise is coming from… whereas if you check out individual tracks you may suddenly realise that by compressing that guitar you have made the amp hum REALLY LOUD when the guitar isn't actually playing. Time for a Noise Gate on that track!

  • Query Builder won't apply chosen date to the where clause

Does anybody know why when I chose a date field, in the where clause, when using Query Builder, it won't actually write the chosen date to the actual query?
If I select the "View Query" tab, no date shows up. Also if I press the "Run Report" button in the "View Result" tab, I get this error:
"An error was encountered performing requested operation: ORA-00936: missing expression"
This is because actual date data is missing.
After I hit the "Apply" button, I have to manually type the date data.
I thought this was a bug of the previous version, but I just installed version 1.5.4 and I have no different result.
    Thanks.

  • Photoshop CS6 won't launch after successful installing the upgrade on my PC

After a successful installation process, Photoshop CS6 opens, starts to load, then vanishes....   I'm on a PC where I'd been running CS5, then upgraded to CS6 via internet. Had problems with installation setup, which were settled via Adobe Chat. Now the programme starts up ready to open but shortly after the PS sign comes up and before the window actually opens, just disapears. Can anybody help with this please?

Ok, I found one more article talking about upgrading to 11.3 upgrade instead of 11.4(latest). Finaly worked. Hope this helps someone else, this was painful.

  • Problems with Adobe Speedgrade CS6 in Windows 7

I am having problem with Adobe Speedgrade CS6 on my Windows 7 machine with the following specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
    Gateway FX 6800-01e
    2.67 GHz i7 Quad-core processor
    16.0 GB RAM
750GB primary hard drive (Seagate ST3750528AS)
    2 - 2TB secondary hotswap drives
    NVidia Quadro 4000 w 2GB dedicated RAM
2 Acer 231SHL HD monitors running in extended dual screen mode
    Adobe Speedgrade 6.0.4x25
It takes almost 3 minutes to open and when it does open it is slow to respond. After trying to troubleshoot it through driver updates, etc., I have done a totally clean reinstall of Windows 7, updated drivers where applicable, and disabled all malware and antivirus protection to rule out interference.  I have also tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it.  I have also applied the latest update through the program interface. The other components of the suite I have installed are:
    Premiere Pro CS6
    After Effect CS6
    Acrobat XI
    Audition
    Bridge
    Photoshop (32-bit and 64-bit versions)
    Lightroom 4.3
    Prelude
The other components, including Premiere and After Effects open fine with no problem. I would appreciate any assistance with this problem that might be offered, as I am frustrated and stumped.  Thanks in advance!

  • Any Books On SpeedGrade CS6

Are there any books on how to use SpeedGrade CS6?
    Thanks,
    Joe

Here are links to the Help documents for all CS6 applications:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/premiereprotraining/2010/08/help-documents-for-creative-suite-5-pdf -and-html.html
There is a book in the works about CS6 Production Premium that has a significant section on SpeedGrade. There is also a book on After Effects coming that covers SpeedGrade somewhat. Both will be out this summer.
    There's also a 2-hour video series here:

And, of course, there's this series of more than a dozen videos by our own Patrick:

  • Apply a border to the chart in HTML report

    Hi,
I am generating an html report as the final output for my LV program. I have a few graphs that i have added to the report using the append control image to report tool. I have set the image on the control panel to be transperent so that it is printer friendly when i print out the html report. Everything works fine but there is no border around the axis, i.e. there is no solid line that defines x axis and y axis for the graphs. Is there is a property tool that can be used to set this?
    Thanks

I have used this trick alot. One thing that I found is that if you make the color inside the graph white instead of transparent you will get the results that you are looking for. I usually make the outside of my graph transparent and the inside of my graph white and it looks good.
    Hope this helps
    Joe

Assuming you did this with a Fill Layer, double-click the thumbnail in the Layers panel to bring up the Gradient Fill dialog, see to it that the [ ] Align with layer checkbox is set, and (while the Gradient Fill dialog is still up) try dragging the gradient to where you want it on the main display.  Then [ OK ] out of the Gradient Fill dialog.

No you can't. Renaming grading layers is a features since version 7 a.k.a. CC. Time to upgrade?

  • SpeedGrade CS6 griefs

    Hi there,
so, I was, like many, rather enthusiastic and positive about the SpeedGrade addition to the Creative Suite arsenal. I was really looking forward to a high-end, production proven, complete grading solution to my CGI pipeline.
Now, that I finally have a chance to work in SG CS6 (as part of the Creative Cloud), I am thoroughly dissappointed and quite frankly, pissed.
    1) constant crashes.
I'm having constant crashes with the application. It is RIDICULOUS how ofthen the program crashes. I'm grading QuickTimes shot with Canon 60D and SG keeps on crashing every now and then when it just feels like the QT isn't good enough.
Also, when working, constant crashes here and there, but the most super-irritating crashes come from rendering the final graded footage to whatever else but CINEON. I just can't believe how ridiculously bad this app is! It won't let me render JPGs, it won't let me render QuickTimes, it won't let me render TIFFs, it won't let me render AVIs... NOTHING! except for ridiculously oversized CIN files that are completely unnecessary to my projects (grading 4:2:0 sources, then outputting nonsense 4:4:4 raws?! why?!).
    2) completely idiotic workflow
I can't believe how Adobe could have f***ed this one up. I also, naturally, use Premiere Pro CS6. I found out I just CANNOT use Premiere EDLs in SpeedGrade. I get a red rectangle with an error message on import in SpeedGrade!!!! WHAT THE HELL?!
So, there are pretty much just two ways I can grade in SpeedGrade from Premiere: I can render out the project into DPX files (SUPER HUGE!) and grade in that, then I have to re-import for further effects or finishing in Premiere (very inconvenient). Or, I can shuffle my cuts one after another in order to have them all in the Video01 layer (which eliminates any transitions I could have had in the timeline etc..), then the EDL works without errors. I still have to grade and render out the result in SpeedGrade (see above).
I was actually wishing for a way that SpeedGrade projects could be read back in Premiere for final rendering in Premiere. But that'd be probably too much from a software giant with tons of brilliant engineers such as Adobe, I guess...
    3) No tablet support?! WHAT?!
Adobe, I have no idea what you are doing, but you are doing it WRONG!
SpeedGrade is close to useless on larger prductions (I'm working on a set of 1 minute videos here, with no more than ten cuts!).
    That is all, thank you.

Loocas, I feel your pain. I too needed to get used to a lot of the 'unique' way SG works.
    Regarding point 1)
    - Please provide more details of the system you are using SpeedGrade on. Mac/Win, OS, RAM, version of QT, GPU brand and driver, etc. This makes helping you possible.
    - Maybe an obvious one: have you upgraded to 6.0.3?
And if my opion counts: any professional program should never crash if the system is compient with the spec's given by the maker.
    Point 2)
Adobe aquired SG in septembere 2011, and had to come up with a Adobe branded version earely in 2012 to meet all the logistical deadlines for the CS6 launch. So not even half a year to think of a workflow/itegration build it and test it. For a version 1, SG is an amazing tool, but it is not there. True.
The Adobe SG team now has a reguar cycle to come up with the CSnext version. I trust Adobe will address this point -better intergration with Premiere Pro and After Effects- as their top mission.
    Point 3)
I'm 100% with you. If you get my SpeedGrade Fundamentals trainig at FXPHD, you'll see that I had to mention this in the course. I really hope they'll get Wacom in CSnext. Must say that Premiere Pro CS6 also has issues with Wacom especially when ajusting/scrubbing values...
So, for now, let's start with the infor for point 1)

  • Illustrator CS6 won't open additional files after 30 minutes use

Illustrator CS6 (on an iMac, OS X Yosemite, Version 10.10) sort of freezes up after I've been using it for about 30 minutes - it won't open or create additional files or copy/cut/paste objects.
It did this with OS X Maverick as well. I tried uninstalling the software and reinstalling it.
The only way I can fix this issue is to save all opened windows and quit Illustrator. When I reopen it, it seems fine but it freezes up again every hour or so.
    Please help! Thank you

    Hello worksmc,
I looked at the above snapshot and it helps a bit but would like to know if above snapshot is at the state when the AI stops opening the Ai files? If not, then please attach the one for that state as that would really debugging the issue.
Btw, what type of files do you open for the first half 'n hour? What kind of objects are in those files? Do you keep the multiple documents open, if yes, then how many are these?
    Appreciate your understanding!
    Thanks,
