Speedgrade's monitor is blacked out/bugged

Hey everyone, I have a peculiar problem when I import footage. It happens both when I pull it off the hard drive and when I send it from Premiere. The monitor window is blacked out, or sometimes there is a faint square of color representing the imported footage at the top left corner, as you can see here. Any suggestions? I've restarted the program multiple times and googled for over an hour looking for a similar problem, and haven't found it.

I also have the exact same problem. The screen looks exactly like Nitro's screenshot and I don't know what is wrong. When I press play the tiny square of video appears to be moving, but it doesn't fill up the entire screen. Also, the monitor icon next to the save icon under the video lights up red, but when I mouse over the video, paused or unpaused, and click, I can see part of the full display, with the tiny square expanded to the entire frame. Only half of the full display is shown, though, and when I move my mouse away from the video, it goes back to the tiny square.
I'm using Windows 7, but my processor is a Core i5. I'm using Speedgrade CS6. As for the exact version, I don't know how to find it. I'm also using a 1280x1024 display monitor. The file imported into Speedgrade is a .wav file.
As for the other system specs, I have AMD, and also 6 gigs of RAM. I think the other specs meet recommendations. I hope I will still be able to use Speedgrade, even though I have an i5 processor.Thanks.

  • Does anyone know how to stop my monitor from blacking out?

I am getting annoyed that my monitor keeps blacking out on IDLE!  Ahh!  It does not sleep or power off, I suppose.  Just goes black and then comes back alive on a mouse move.  This is a desktop.
Here is what I have set off:
Power Management Preferencess in System Menu = Sleep is set to NEVER
    in gconf-editor for gnome-power-manager:
    ac_dpms_sleep_method:    off
    ac_sleep_display: 0

haha.  how do i stop this damn blacking out?!?!?    Thanks.
(i was able to disable it in Ubuntu with similar steps, although I only think it 'slept' on that distro.  Not blacked out)

  • Qosmio G10: Monitor completely blacked out

    Hello!
I have this problem with my Qosmio G10, I turn on the laptop, the fan makes a high noise and finally it logs in Windows. Meanwhile, i cannot see what's happening, because the screen is blacked out. I just hear the sound for the Windows log on.
I tried to connect a normal PC monitor, as well as press Fn + F5, which is the hotkey for switch b/w types of display.
If anyone has or had the same problem and could help me, i would be more than grateful, as this problem is going on for weeks.

    Hi
Did you try to boot into a safe mode?
Please check if this possibility is available and if it will solve the display problem.
But if note, so I suggest that there is something wrong with the display or with a part of the display for example: FL inverter.
In this case the best way is to contact the Toshiba service partner because he could make some diagnostic test and he can dive you a proper answer which part is defect.
    Bye

  • Monitor flickering blacks out jolting MacBook Air and LG Monitor IPS277l

Hello everyone. Using MacBook Air and LG IPS277L and have had no issues up until today. All of the sudden my monitor goes blurry and shuts off. I dont see the little mirror box thingy available at the top of my desktop either. It's like the Macbook isn't sending a powerful enough signal to the monitor or something.
The monitor works fine with 2 other laptops. Tried display settings no luck. No updates from LG for Mac available at this time. Any suggestions?
    Thanks....

    Howdy iMWorks,
It sounds like the issue you are experiencing is only happening on your external monitor, but the video works fine on your internal display. I have a couple of thoughts as to what could be causing the issue here. First, use these troubleshooting steps to help troubleshoot the hardware, and PRAM:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1573
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
If the issue persists, I would use the following article to troubleshoot the Safari application on the computer:
Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3230
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Full screen video on 2nd monitor blacks out 1st screen

When I play a video full screen on a second monitor, iTunes blacks out the first screen and I can't see the Windows desktop. Is there a way around this?

I'm having this problem as well. Apparnetly the world thinks this is acceptable behavior. I do not. I'm trying to work and feed video from iTunes to an HDTV next to me. Why in the world would I want my 3 other monitors to blank???
Tripply amazing is that it's worked this way for quite a long time. Apple isn't fixing it, so they must think this is a great FEATURE.

For a couple of months now, my monitor periodically blacks out for a second and/or flickers. Sometimes it gets really bad and I just have to shut down.
There was some dust buildup inside machine; it has been cleaned, still having problem; have tried reseating video/graphics card.
I have run Apple Hardware Extensive Testing and it shows there are no problems; have checked and made sure monitor cord is securely connected.
Have monitored Temperatures and they all appear to be fine.

    1) Apple brand cards,
    2) "sold in the Apple store" cards, and
    3) "Mac Edition" cards ...
... show all the screens, including Boot up screens, Safe Mode, Installer, Recovery, debug screens, and Alt/Option boot screens. At this writing, these choices include:
    1) Apple brand cards:
    • Apple-firmware 5770, about US$250** works near full speed in every model Mac Pro, Drivers in 10.6.5. (This card has just been discontinued and is no longer available from Apple dealers. There may be some new, old stock still available at resellers)
    • Apple-firmware 5870, about US$450
    2) "sold in the Apple store" cards
    • NVIDIA Quadro 4000 Fermi, about US$1200
    • NVIDIA Quadro K5000 Kepler, about US$2500
    3) "Mac Edition" cards -- REQUIRE 10.8.3 or later:
    • SAPPHIRE HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 MAC Edition, about US$480** Vendor recommends Mac Pro 4,1
    • EVGA GTX 680 Mac Edition, about US$600
The cards above require no more than the provided two 6-pin aux power connectors provided in the Mac Pro through 2012 model. Aux cables may not be provided for third-party cards, but are readily available.
If you are Meet ALL of these:
    • running 10.8.3 or later AND
    • don't care about "no boot screens" etc AND
    • can re-wire or otherwise "work out" the power cabling, THEN:
You can use many more cards, even most "PC-only cards".
    One more thing--
Flashed PC cards: There are a good many EFI flashed cards that offer boot screens and behave like official cards. "for more information about using and flashing non-Apple cards, please check out the various sites like Netkas (and others) that focus on and discuss what is known and available. • H515 Desktop Monitor Power cuts out

Help Please. I have an H515 desktop. After a period of inactivity the power will go off to my monitor. The CPU is still on but I can't get the monitor on. All my power settings are set to never turn off the display. I am running Windows 8.1. I've tried multiple monitors and I've changed out the monitor cables. No luck
    Any thoughts?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
Have you tried booting the computer into Windows Safe Mode to see if the inactivity causes the monitor to black out ?  I'm not sure if Safe Mode will totally by-pass Windows Power Management, but it is worth a try.  If the monitor stays on then I would suspect a power setting or driver problem with Windows.  The link below is for a little tutorial on booting Windows 8.1 into Safe Mode if needed.  Step #2 is probably the easiest.
    http://www.7tutorials.com/5-ways-boot-safe-mode-windows-8-windows-81
Have you tried booting into the BIOS Setup and see if inactivity blacks out the monitor ?  You can boot into the BIOS Setup on your model by shutting the computer completely off then press and hold the F1 key when powering it back on.  When you see the BIOS screen then release the F1 key.  This would be the true test to see if your black out problem is a hardware issue since the operating system isn't loaded.

  • Second screen blacked out when full screen with dual displays

I have a MacBook Pro connected to an LCD display. I use both screens. When working from home I'd like to have my local machine showing on the LCD monitor and my work machine showing in the MBP screen. I can do this, however I can't have the work machine in full screen mode because ARD blacks out my main LCD monitor. This frankly drives me nuts as there doesn't appear to be a preference within ARD to change this.
iTunes does the same thing. If I want to watch a video full screen in one monitor it blacks out the other. C'mon Apple, Quicktime doesn't do this and has a preferences tab just for display settings!
Does someone have a suggestion, work around, or want to point me to what I might be missing to solve this issue?

I understand what you are doing, but when you are running as full-screen the second display is blacked out because your making your station only the target at that moment. You are telling ARD that you want nothing to do with your Admin station. Also because the target doesn't have a second screen, your is blank. This avoids any confusion as to what screen belongs to what machine. ARD is working as it was designed to.
iTunes does the same thing to hid extra screens that are not part of the presentation so they don't detract from the show.
With your Observe or Control in Windowed mode, make the window of you client to fill the display as much as possible. This is the best you can do. Besides, when you are Controlling a client in Full-Screen, you can't move files and such with drag-n-drop. So if you want to work on both at the same time, you need to stay in windowed mode.

  • My secondary monitor flashes and blacks out after the 10.7 install.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have installed 10.7 and the secondary monitor flashes and blacks out.  I downgraded back to 10.6 and the problem went away.  I reinstalled 10.7 and the same problem happened again.  The monitor blacks in and out especially when the pointer is placed in the dock area, but it still happens all the time.  My secondary monitor is a ViewSonic 22 inch that is connected to a DVI to display adapter.  Any solutions??
    Thanks

Talked to AppleCare and it's most likely the fact that my MacBook has 3.0 USB ports and my non official charging cable can't support that. So yeah, I'll try a new cable, hopefully that's the fix.

  • External monitor blacks out

The external monitor I use with my MBP has stared blacking out - usually for about 30 seconds, sometimes more. Any ideas how I can fix it?

  • G5 HP Monitor blacks out, says No Input Signal

This happens when the computer warms up, goes away after sleep, but always comes back. Problem compounded by the computer telling me my GeForce FX 5200 graphic card status is "No display connected." What stupid thing have I done or not done. Computer's new, a dual 1.8, so I don't know my way around it; not that I'm at all tekkie. Any obvious help come to mind? Thanx.

I get the video back by either turning "Source" on the monitor off and then clicking it back on, or turning the monitor power off and then turning it back on. In either case, I'll usually get another five to eight minutes before the monitor blacks out again. If I repeat the process, the interval between blackouts gets shorter and shorter until I cave in, put the computer to sleep and come back in fifteen or twenty minutes, after which I get a pretty good run again, fifteen to twenty minutes. Because I do a lot of writing, it's a process of mental harrassment having my train of thought broken. I'm developing a flinch in anticipation, which sure don't make for limpid prose.
I've only had the computer for two months, so it has never occurred to me to vacuum it. You really think that might help?
Can't say how grateful I am to you experts for your attention and advice.

  • Sony monitor attached to iMac suddenly blacks out

I have had a Sony monitor (model SDM-HS74P) attached to my iMac for over a year (and prior to that to my old iMac for several years) with no problem. Yesterday out of nowhere it blacks out. I have tried some troubleshooting things as per the Sony guides, but those seem to indicate that the monitor is fine. The power button on the Sony is on and green; I've made no changes to settings or cables. If I put my computer to sleep and then bring it out of sleep, you see the Sony monitor's desktop briefly, but then it blacks out again. If I turn the Power button on the Sony monitor on and off, same thing, you see the desktop briefly and then it blacks out again. (The Sony monitor also has a little grey box that appears that has "Input2: HD15" in it which then disappears (it's always done that) in case that's relative.) I have not changed anything in my Display Preferences either. I am currently running OSX 10.8.4 and wonder if in updating the OS something got messed up. Does anyone have any advice for me? Thank you.

Hmmm, 10.8.4 was supposed to have "fixes" for monitor problems.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this blackout happens.

  • Portg Z30-A-1E1 - External monitor blacks out randomly

Very annoying problem - every now and then the monitor blacks out for 2 seconds and comes back.
Monitor is powered all the time.
HDMI cable changed twice and does not solve the problem.
Seems like a change of resolution or a reset - can the problem be in the graphic card? Otherwise maybe the HDMI port itself detecting strange stuff?
Please help I'm getting crazy as I work 90% of the time on external monitor.
    Thanks
