Speeding Up Movie

Hello,
Using IM 09, I've been speeding up a selection of clips in a movie I am creating. However, it appears that some do not appear to give me the option to speed up after converting them. I have done this successfully, but it is puzzling me why some will not convert.
All clips have been recorded using the import from the camera in my macbook so should have the same format. Is there a finite amount of footage that can be speeded up, or is this a problem with the software? There is no way this can be operator error.
Cheers

Azul can speed up video playback, but I'm not exactly sure how to open videos on the device in the app.  You can download videos directly to the app though.

How many thousands of Apple TV users have to scream their complaints before Apple will respond to the fury over the impossibly slow download speeds of movies bought through iTunes?

As jules says, your rate (currently at least) may be slow.
If it used to be good I wonder is your ISP is slowing ('throttling') your speed after you've used so many GB of a quota each day or month - check what they think you should be getting as a download speed.
While Apple's servers do occasionally play up, it's generally the ISP being slow not Apple.
If you're using Google's DNS servers that has caused issues for some.
Recommended speeds for near instant playback:
    SD         2.5Mbps
    720p      6 Mbps
    1080p    8 Mbps
Is your speed test from somewhere like speedtest.net?
It might be helpful to post Mbps to ensure we/you are not confusing speeds by using different units to those measured.

  • TS1717 The download speed for movies is terribly slow.  It took hours to download.  Any suggestions?

Any suggestions for improving download speeds on movies. It took hours to download my first purchase.  I've used Amazon and Netflix for renting movies and had reasonable download speeds.

    Hi Travelling fool 101,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you were able to update the iPad but were eventually able to. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
Resolve issues with an over-the-air iOS update - Apple Support
Download takes a long time, or you can't reach update server
iOS updates require a persistent Internet connection, and the time it takes to download the update will vary according to the size of the update and your Internet speed. You can use your device normally while downloading the iOS update, and iOS will notify you when you can install the update. To improve the speed of the download, avoid downloading other content.

  • Can Kinect be programmed to detect speed of movements, angle measurements etc?

Does anybody know if Kinect is programmable to be able to detect speeds of movement (eg how quick an arm swings) and other metrics such as the angle of certain body parts via skeletal trackeing. In summary, I'm trying to assess Kinect for my sports company
in using video analysis for Golf and what capability Kinect has in this field. Speed of swing, skeletal tracking and angle measuring are all important considerations.
Also, does anybody know of other similar projects in the sports analytics field.
    Many Thanks

    Hello,
What you described is very easy to implement. With just a few lines of code you can get the Skeleton frames (25 frames per second, featuring the coordinates of up to two users simultaneously).
You can have a look at the
    documentation.
    In
this post, you can find the code I usually use to set up the Kinect sensor in a WPF application.
As soon as you have the coordinates of the Joints, you can start to calculate their speeds. You'd just need to cache the previous coordinates..
Angles between Joints are just as easy. You can do it with Vector3D. For more complex calculations in 3D, you might want to take a look at TCD.Controls, TCD.Kinect (on NuGet).
I'm sure there are other applications of Kinect in the sports analytics - the only thing that may cause some trouble is when the Kinect can't track the user properly, especially if the user is in some weird conformation. With golf this should work just
    fine^

  • Increase download speed for movies

I'm almost ready to give up on trying to download movies with iTunes.
I have a high speed Internet connection and cannot get any movie to download in less than 20 hours.  Not typo I said hours.  It seems to be a problem only with movies as all music and podcasts download no issue.
A recent movie purchase will not even start to download always says zero KB of 3.77 GB and comes up with an err = 12004 message after 12 or so hours.  I've turned of all firewall and antivirus.  I'm now using my Mac connected direct to router eliminating entire network in my house.
Has anyone else tried iTunes support.  Not sure where they are from or even if they are a person as I got several pages of "help" emailed back to me with a plesant "credit" for some movie rentals (and yes my e-mail did specify it was a movie purchase) along with that was a detailed description on how not to download the movies from an iOs device directly.(and yes I told them I was using my Mac and in later email asked how I could install iOs on my Mac) LOL

    Power cycle router.
    Get a faster Internet connection.

  • Scrolling titles and speed up Movie folder access in Front Row?

I have two questions regarding Front Row and have been unable to find an answer for them yet.
    1. A number of my movies/TV shows have very long but similar titles. When I select one, is there a way for the title to scroll and show the whole title much like a long song title scrolls across the screen of my iPod?
    2. Accessing my "Movies" folder takes a long time. Is there some way to speed this up, possibly a cache folder that may have its permissions messed up?
    Cheers.

    YES GET THE UPDATES!
i had the same problem and it happened after i updated my itunes to 7.6 (to support video rentals). what you have to do is make sure you have ALL the latest updates - including front row and OS X updates. as soon as i did that - everything was back to working order. you can update by clicking your system preferences and choosing updates. it will automatically inform you of any outdated software you may have.
    hope this helps.
    cheers.

  • Slow download speed on movies

For some reason my download speed on everything else is good... at least for my area.. but Itunes is giving me a download time on a movie at aprox 60 hours+ !!!.  When I do speed test my connection speed is sitting at 1-1.5 Mbps... and when I look at the expected download time for a regular 2 hour movie I should be expecting a download time of 2 hours.  Is there something i can change in the settings with Itunes?  Can I log into itunes using a 3rd party app like speed download to download my purchases?

aha... I found a solution for us... on one of the other discussions.  Go to your system preferences and click on the network.  Highlight the DNS server(s) and clear them.  If your using a apple router don't clear the DNS on your computer but clear them on your router set up.  Apply the changes and your download speed on Itunes should match the network speed that you have.  After I made the changes to my router my movie download went from 60 hours to 5 .

  • FCE HD, confused by Motion Path (I want to change the speed of movement)

I am a huge FCE noob, let's get that out of the way. I have also been a member here since May of last year, but for some reason it now shows that this is my first post. (????) Anyway, I have figured out how to use a motion path, including curving the path, but I can't figure out how to alter the speed that a "motion path" video enters, or leaves, the screen.
While I'm here, I also want to learn how to use shapes (as in a circle/triangle/custom shaped border to a video clip) and I have not been able to find that info. I have Lisa Brenneis's "Final Cut Express HD for Mac OS X" book and have not been able to find the answers to these two questions there.
Thanks in advance for your useful help!!
    BILL

The first and last keframes can have Ease In/Ease Out applied to smooth the start or stop action.
Clicking between two keframes on a a motion path should give you Bezier Handles. There a four blue dots on them, the inner two will control speed. Dragging an inner dot along the handle either slows or speeds the action.

  • How to make speed up movie clips?

Let's say I take a movie of my daughter cleaning her room (45 min.)...but I want it to look like she did it in 20 sec! Make it look like she's zooming around the room? I've seen it in movies, but not sure how to do it myself?
Would also like to attach music to it!
Is that possible with imovie 08?

Let's say I take a movie of my daughter cleaning her room (45 min.)...but I want it to look like she did it in 20 sec!
There are a number of ways. The two easiest would be to either do your editing in iMovie HD (free to iLife '08 users) or use the JES Deinterlacer (free) to modify the motion externally as a pre-edit for iMovie '08.
Would also like to attach music to it!
This can be done in any video editor (e.g. iMovie) during normal editing or in GarageBand as a post edit.

  • Download Speed of Movies?!

So as we all know Apple have just released movie rentals for UK users.
I decided to watch a few trailers and noticed they download extremely quickly and with no pauses while watching.
So my question is how do they do it?
I wanted to wirelessly stream my movies to my ATV that sit on an external HD. I use a Time capsule and know that it's not necessary to have an internet connection when streaming my movies that sit on my HD. So why is it that when I try to stream my movies it's all a bit hit and miss and yet Apple can stream their movies that I have to download from the internet without any problems?
Surely my connection (that doesn't come from the internet) should be better than something that needs downloading from the net.
    Can anyone enlighten me?
    Thanks

I have actually tried various set-ups.
My first was to store my movies on an external drive attached to my iMac upstairs - Result = constant pauses. I also tried changing to different channels on my Time Capsule.
My second set-up was to see if there was a problem with the connection due to the fact my iMac was upstairs and my ATV and TC downstairs. So, I used my PowerBook downstairs, therefore it is in the same room as my ATV and TC - Result = Same problem as above
My 3rd set-up was to put my movies on the TC but still the same problem
Then of course I tried the wired set-up I spoke about and that's fine. I have also tried various other settings like changing the channel on my TC changing the Multicast rate etc etc but no joy.
The thing is my internet connection is fine, no problems at all and I also have a Sonos wireless music system which works without any problems whatsoever. I can only assume that for whatever reason it just does not like the amount of bandwidth needed to stream video. I have 3 computers that use the TC but when I try to stream anything I ensure everything is shut down and it is only the iMac that is sending data so not to clog up the bandwidth.
I should also point out that I am using a new iMac (nearly new) 2GHz Intel Core Duo with 2 GB RAM, so it shouldn't be a problem with the Mac.

  • Speeding Up Movie Playback on Ipad (Like Quicktime can do)

    Hello,
I watch a lot of training videos for my work. On my laptop I can speed them up using Quicktime's built in AV features.
Is there a way to do the same thing on iPad?
Or is there an application that will speed up Video playback?
    Thanks

Azul can speed up video playback, but I'm not exactly sure how to open videos on the device in the app.  You can download videos directly to the app though.

  • Very slow download speed on Movies

I am trying to download a digital copy of a movie I purchased on Blu-Ray. The download is super super slow. I know its not my connection because all my podcasts are very fast. Any ideas. Thanks

Having same problem here. And yes, it's with the download progress on "Inception." I've downloaded a number of digital-copy movies provided with DVD's, and don't recall this happening with any other movie. And based on a thread of emails with them, iTunes support doesn't seem aware of, nor to have a solution to, the problem. Wonder if it might hit their radar if more people contacted them?
Have you come upon any additional research, comments, etc.? Thanks!

  • Shake Quicktime Changes Speed of Movie

I made a video with me playing drums, bass, and guitar in a band with myself. Obviously timing is extremely important in matching up the sounds to the video here. I had to do some rotoscoping in shake and after rendering the shake project into a quicktime file, the video is significantly slower. The music won't match up with the video now. Does anyone know what caused this?

I've had this problem in shake and I can say that the real issue is the export codec you used from either Shake of FCP. e.g if you edit DVC Pro 1080 on the timeline in final cut and export the clip to shake for editing you have to make sure you use the DVC Pro codec at 1440 by 1080. If you use it at 1920 by 1080, there is a change in the play back speed after export... So you should check the codec you shot with... You should make sure you know the exact frame resolution and codec you shot with...

  • Itunes movie speed

The streaming speed for movie rental on Apple TV itunes store is horribly slow at the moment, takes a long time to load every now and then, was watching 'The Impossible' through Apple TV just now, and told me 'Ready to play in 48 minutes'...  What was that?
    Anyone experiencing the same issue?

    Hey vintageboho,
I see that you may be disappointed in your download times from the iTunes Store. Here is an article for you that should be able to help you address this:
For reference, here are some examples of download times for various media types. Your download times may vary. If you want to know your speed specifics, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) can help you determine your download speed, or you can use CNET's Bandwidth Meter.
