Speeding up my rendering

Okay here's my question,
is the speed of rendering directly related to the size of your video card. The video card I have installed is a radeon HD for 4800 I believe it has 1 GB of RAM, but I don't know if megahertz my rendering seems to be slow. Especially the more complicated. The graphics applied, what would be the best recommendation to speed up my rendering. I'm also running a i7 processor, quad core with 12 GB of RAM. I know it's overkill that someday they'll be writing that big. Thank you in advance

You don't mention which version of PP you're running.
For CS4 and earlier, the best way to speed up rendering/exporting is with a faster CPU.  Nothing else will give you the same degree of performance improvement as that will (assuming nothing else in the system is the bottleneck).
For CS5 or later, you can also speed up rendering/exporting by adding an appropriate nVidia graphics card, which is capable of accelerating some aspects of the job.  (Sorry, ATI won't work for this, it has to be nVidia.)

  • Speeding up page rendering

    Hi *,
Does anybody know some tips & tricks to speed up page rendering?
I have made a complex MVC application with tons of elements in each view.
When I test the pages on my PC, it works fine (my configuration resembles a small server), but when I test it on regular PC (PIII 500Mhz with 256 RAM) the browsers shows DONE in the status bar, but I see a white screen for 10 to 15 seconds.
I did some runtime analysis and found out that the problem lies not with the application, nor with the network, but purely with Internet Explorer.
I kicked out some htmlb elements which were only used to fancy-up the page, and sticked to pure HTML as much as possible, this improved rendering by 15%, but still the rendering is very slow.
Does anybody know some other tricks to speed it up?
    Thanks in advance
    Mario Vangerven

Sounds very strange. The drawing of the page elments can not take so long.
I guess that the problem is not in the rendering.
Check the HTTP trace of the browser. I suspect some unavailable of 'long-accessible' resources there.

  • How to speed up 3D Rendering in Photoshop CS5

    Hello,
My 3D rendering (ray trace) seems rather slow in Photoshop CS5. Would it make a difference to upgrade my GPU or my 2.5GHz Quad-Core CPU, or both? The CPU peaks for over 10 minutes during the ray-tracing rendering, but the "interactive" 3d stuff is instant on my PC.
    thanks,
    JP

    Thanks for your answers.
I'm working on rendering some of our 2D samples in to a 3d scene and chose a final resolution of 2100x1500 (in case these were to be put on a postcard in the future). It sounds like this may be a bit much for a destop PC to render out quickly.
It would be nice to know whether there's a significant advantage to upgrading some of our CPUs in order to determine whether it's worth the cost. I suppose that would require exploring some benchmarking sites to see their findings. We have 8GB of RAM (64-bit systems), so I don't know if increasing that would help either.
I don't think I like the lights with hard shadows, so I don't think I'll remove their "softness" for my scenes, but I'll look in to the other suggestions to increase rendering speed.
Maybe the optimal workflow would be to set-up several 3D scenes, create an action to render and then stamp the 3D layer and save, and then batch-process the files overnight.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Why is connection speed and page rendering so much slower in FF 3.6.13?

After installation of the 3.6.13 upgrade, website connection and page rendering speed became significantly slower than in all previous versions. I searched the knowledge base and Forum and found this post:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/668695#answer-108852
After changing settings as described in the post, speed was easily more than doubled.
I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the slowdown in connection and rendering speed with 3.6.13. And also why, if the settings worked so well for me, they aren;t standard in FF?

  • Speeding up preview Rendering in FCP 7

    Hi All,
I have been working with a lot of 1080p HD video where I've been applying a bunch of color correction and filters to give the video a "film look" and to buff up some badly white-balanced video.   Most commonly, I've been stacking two tracks of the same video, each with a Color 3-Way filter applied and composited with "overlay" or "add" or some amount of blending.  Sometimes there will be one or two other filters applied as well, such as vignette or a gamma correction.
My problem is I've been finding the amount of time needed to render a "preview" of video every time I make a small change to this setup to be a drain on my workflow.   For just 30 seconds or so of video, I must wait several minutes for a preview to render.   I'm taking a lot of coffee breaks and things are progressing very slowly.
By "rendering" I mean renderding those segments of the video that are marked by the orange line- video which plays, albeit very jerkily. I am usually rendering to get a sense of the look of transitions, and the expressons of my subjects' faces at these moments- so I don't like the way the "orange line" preview look.  I don't usally get the red line.  Some of my blends that don't have color three-way applied are tagged green.
I have a Dual Core 2009 Mac Pro 2.66Ghz tower with 5GB of ram and the video card it came with.  I'm using only one monitor.  I have FCS 3 and FCP 7.   I have tons of HD space available (200 GB out of 1 TB left on my main drive and a 2 TB scratch drive with about 800 GB used for TimeMachine and the rest partitioned for video.  I'm not using it yet, though.)   I usuallly run FCP with little or no other software in the background.   The video source I'm using is HDV 1080p30 (shot at 1440x1080, but  16:9) or 1080p24 (some of my source video came from a second camera.)  I have about 6 hours of video that I'm working with now, and have not, therefore, converted it to another format for editing purposes as this would take a long, long time.   I set the render settings to RGB, which doesn't seem to speed things up much.
I'm looking for advice on how to speed up my preview render times (I'm not worried about compressor or QuickTime conversion render times as that can be done in batches overnight).   Should I be choosing a different codec?  Should I be rendering and editing at a different resolution (this seems to me to take even longer.)  I'd be willing to spend a few hundred dollars for a new video card, if it came to that, but that's obviously my last recourse.   Do I need more RAM?   Are there some settings that I should change?  Should I bite the bullet and convert my whole mess 'o video to ProRes 4:2:2 or something of the sort?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion of OPT-P.   I forgot about that.
What I've done in the past is make and render a "color test sequence" featuring little clips that I'll commonly use.  I then edit the whole darn thing with no compositing at all (leaving a "gap" between tracks for the future compositing) eyballing the changes by looking at my "color test sequence."
The problem with this is, I use color shifts and "film look" tricks a lot in my videos, and it's not always possible to guess what the effect is going to look like short of rendering.   I was hoping to figure out a way of speeding this up.    Moreover, the new Mac Pros are not all that much faster than my current one.
    Oh well.

  • Clips look like speed increased after rendering?

Weird! I have a few different 30 minute training videos, and after applying the 3-way color corrector I rendered. But, now when I watch they look like the speed of the footage has been increased somehow??
The footage I have was shot in 1080p 30fps. I dumbly began editing in h.264 so that's what it is, and there are some alpha channel simple animations done in Motion as overlays to the footage. I believe the Motion settings are Broadcast HD 1080i60.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

editing in h264 in fcp is problematic at best.  Although it may work, eventually you'll regret it.    I'd seriously advise converting all your footage to prores using compressor.  You can reconnect to all your existing work by doing a MM to the correct format with media offline.  If you make sure that your converted files have the same file names, reconnecting should be as simple as pointing to the correct folder.  I'd do a test on one file to make sure the workflow is correct.

  • Speed increase during rendering

    Hi all.
I made a strange observation that needs verification or trashing.
While working in a project I selected render (as allways) but after this I
clicked out in the Finder = deselected FinalCut. Then to my surprice
the rendering process appeared to speed up.
Is this a reality or just a subjective feeling ?
    Yours Bengt W

No that's the problem. I only got the feeling while doing several adjustments
with need for rendering. I let it be every second time (say odd) and selected finder the even time and got this impression/feeling.
That's why I addressed this "observation" to find out if othere run into a similar
    experience.
(will keep on doing it the "Finder way" as long as I get the feeling of an increased
    speed in rendering)
If this is a real/measurable phenomen then Apple programmer ought to sit
down and take a look on the rendering process and optimice it's coding.
Else: it's just in my mind and of no interest.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Speed grade not rendering

So i have tried every file format i could think of to render out my speed grade project and no matter what i try (compressed by h.264 or non compressed, to pro res 422) the video is either corupt or the colour work does not end up in the final movie.
I imported a pro res 422 move into the time line as the linking does not work very well for mac, and used the program to pic all of the edit points.
All i want to do it kick it out but it is not working! what am i doing wrong?
Also i have a mac pro 2009, 10 gigs of ram 2x2.26 ghz quad with an Nivida K600 card (which i know is not aproved but works just fine it is the Quatro arcitecture) And did all of my colouring on an asus PA monitor. Besides from that it is a nice program, I would like more controll over the work space though....

    Revanth ...
Would love to help you. Are you still having this problem, and if so ... I need some info.
OS/CPU/RAM/GPU/vRAM & specifics on version for the OS and drivers for the GPU. For example, mine looks like this, because knowing it is useful when I need to ask for help, I created a text file on my desktop to simply copy it ...
    -Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s); Installed Physical Memory (RAM)    16.0 GB.
-EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 w/4Gb vRAM; Driver Version    347.25
-System: 2-disc SSD RAID; Cache Files: Internal SSD; Media Files: 2TB Internal HD; Project Files: 2TB Internal HD; Export Files: 2TB Internal HD
Anyone with some knowledge of the Adobe Digital Video Apps (DVA's) can look at that and immediately note a few areas that might allow problems but rule out many others. Speeds the whole puzzling process along.
Next ... workflow. Is working in Sg a new-ish thing for you or do you have some pro experience at it? I don't want to bore/insult you nor talk over your head. What's the footage of the project (camera/codec info), and what hefty things may have been applied in PrPro, After Effects, or Sg such as noise control, warp-stabilizer, tracked key-frame masks, multiple LUT's/Looks, that sort of thing.
And ... I take it if you export a non-Sg processed video it works as expected through AME? So it's only IF you take a PrPro project through a round-trip to Sg that AME refuses to export?
Next ... a screen grab of the AME settings you're using would be excellent ...

  • Increase speed of Button Rendering

My Questionis simple. I have a class that extends the JButton class. This class simply allows me to add a custom Up image, Down Image and Over Image (different button states) .
When I use this custom button the rendering of each image position is slow (i.e. I place my mouse over the button and 3 sec later the Hover Image on the button appears). If there is anyway for me to change that and make it a fluid as possible would help alot.

  • Can I speed up final cut and motion rendering using qmaster?

I have set up a cluster to speed up exporting via compressor, but I am wondering if I can use the same technique to speed up the rendering (not the exporting) in final cut pro, or motion (or other programs included in the suite for that matter)
I read that you can use an xgrid cluster to do this, but I don't have a mac server to use xgrid and would prefer not learning a new program if I can stick with qmaster.
    Thanks

Since your camera is acquiring at the rate of 1.2 frames/sec, that means a frame is ready every 833 ms. This is a function of your camera and may or may not be variable. This is the fastest possible loop rate you can achieve. With that in mind, if your image analysis takes 400ms and the motor 200ms, you still have about 233ms of time left to wait for the next image to be ready.
Yes, by reducing the acquisition window size, you reduce the amount of data moved across the PCI bus to system memory, but the camera control how quickly frames are being sent so this will not speed up your acquistion. It will, however, decrease your processing time since you are processing fewer pixels.
Also, a ring acquisition would be the best acquisition mode to implement since you w
on't need to setup a new IMAQ session each time. If you are worried about not finishing a move before the next image is acquired, you can just use the Wait for Move Complete function in ValueMotion and then continue with the image acquisition.

  • Double Speed Rendering in Final Cut

I am having an odd problem with Final Cut 6 that used to just happen when I would export to "current settings" but has now migrated into my preview renderings.
When I render, the video plays back at double speed, and audio renders fine. The result is half the video render is double speed and the rest is black. Very annoying and I cannot properly edit this way.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, when I import my footage, the line is grey and not red and plays just fine.  However, if I export and use "Current Settings" the rendered file will come out double speed.  If I add an effect and it requires a rendering, the preview will render and double speed.  If I can figure out and fix what is doing this, my life will be a whole lot less stressful.
BTW, the funny thing is, if I do NOT export using "current settings" but rather choose HDV 1080i60, it creates the new file just fine. :-/

  • Slow Rendering...Any tips on speeding it up?

After dealing with a bag full of issues with my G5, I have replaced my system drive, replaced 2 1gig sticks of RAM that was defective and have upgraded to the latest version of FCP studio crossgrade. Now I am back to editing a documentary I started before I had all those issues. I am noticing the rendering seems real slow compared to how it was before the issues. At first I only noticed this with the RED bars but today I learned that the ORANGE bars are slow to render too! It always took about a minute or under for most things to render on my machine. Now its taking up to 10 minutes! The GREEN bars render out in no time...super quick.
I have my timeline set to UNLIMITED RT. I have 2.5 gigs of ram in my machine. Is there a setting that I may have overlooked that I need to set to speed up the rendering time? I had to put a fresh copy of FCP studio on my new hard drive so I had to do the settings all over again and may have overlooked something.
    Thanks!

*Sorry, I just looked at your OP again, where you mentioned you have Unlimited RT set. So everything I wrote below probably won't apply. But I would still double check your RT render settings. Maybe something is getting rendered that wasn't before. Also, if you're bringing in clips that were not captured in FCP, transcoding from anoter codec would slow things down. (such as Avid or iMovie's dv stream format)**
Disregard this if you're already aware, but here's how the color bars work. They're actually an indicator of your system's ability to play realtime effects (without rendering). A dark green bar means a clip is rendered. A light green bar means your system will have no problem playing that effect back at full speed. An orange bar indicates probable dropped frames or slowdown through playback. A red bar obviously means that the effect cannot be played in real time and needs to be rendered. Whether or not your system is able to play something back depends entirely on the power of your hardware. More ram, a better video card, or video effects card all effect real time playback.
Final Cut has the option to switch between Unlimited Real-Time (RT) and Safe RT. Safe RT will only limit realtime playback to those effect it knows it can play safely, and ask you to render everything else. Full RT will attempt to play any realtime capable effect back in realtime.
When an effect is played back in realtime, it may gracefully degrade the quality of the clip as needed in order achieve full speed, and can result in a somewhat poorer looking image. If you want to make sure to see your video at absolute best quality, always render before playback, even if the bar is light green (you may need to tell FCP to specficially render light green bars under the render menu).
So what does this all have to do with your problem? I suspect in the past your machine was trying to handle as much playback in real time as possible and did not require you to render as often, or as much. This is why you may never have seen the dark green bars. You may have switched to Safe RT or no RT which is asking you to render more. There is menu for RT playback in the upper right corner of the Timelie window.
Just a hunch, hope it helps. (Also hope I got all the RT mumbo jumbo right, its been a few months since I've gotten to sit down at an FCP machine).

  • Speeding up Rendering during production

We are using FCP to produce a product called www.GloryScapes.com. Our problem is the rendering time. We are creating overlaid text in Motion and importing it into FCP and we have to wait for these words to render with the video footage an inordinate period of time. We have tried setting FCP to "draft quality" in the "Render Control" so this will move along faster during the production process, then we can change it to "best" once we have completed the program. Any other suggestions to speed up the rendering?

That was a great suggestion. Yes, the settings match that of FCP. We are working with DVCPRO HD 1080i60 (1280x1080) 16:9. We'd be welcome to any other suggestions. Thanks.
