Speeding up sound in a timeline

In need of some help- I exported my film at 15fps to draw on each frame then imported them back into final cut. now my audio doesnt match (which goes to the film @ 24fps..does anyone know how i can speed up the sound so it will once again be in Sync? Please help!

Will it be a frame for frame match-up when going to 24? Then the audio will have to run at 160% (24/15). You can simply speed up the audio, but you're running the risk that your characters will sound like Mickey Mouse. You can send the audio thru SoundTrack Pro and do a speed change and keep the pitch the same.
But before making those decisions, you'll need to map out your precise workflow...

  • Poor sound quality in timeline and export; fine in Source?

    Hello all.
Newbie to Pr but experienced pro in digital audio. I'm stumped and know I'm just missing something somewhere.
I've made a music video for one of my songs. The graphics are all done (in AE), imported to Pr and eveything looks great. I import the final mix of the audio and it sounds very low quality when played from the timeline and in the final output, regardless of format (I've tried several presets and custom settings as well). I played around and noticed that the audio sounds fine when played from the Source window inside Premier.
The Pr session is comrised of 18 video tracks (not all playing at once, of course) and one stereo audio track.
I've tried re-exporting the audio from Logic at different bit depths, sample rates and file formats (mp3, wav, AAC, etc) but the results are the same every time: Source (Pr)sounds fine, Logic output sounds fine, rendered / timeline playback sounds like very low quality mp3 and final product sounds just as bad.
I've tried everything I can think of. I hope one of you can show me what I'm missing.
    TIA!

    Thank you for the reply!
I was experiencing the same results no matter what export settings I used. Plus the poor sound quality was present in the timeline itself, without even exporting the project.
I finally threw my hands up, started a completely new project, drug the same audio file in... sounded fine. Copied / Pasted the video clips from the original, broken project and boom, eveything is fixed. Yeah, corrupted Pr file it turns out. All I had to do was start a new project and import all the old components.
I've had to do this in Logic a lot (increasingly, these days). I just wish I'd tried it 10 hours earlier! Ha.
Anyway, problem solved, and thanks very much!

  • No audio sound from my timeline

    Hello everybody,
I have no audio sound from my timeline.
    What did i do!
i started a new event and project.
From the media browser i dragged and dropped pictures from my library into the timeline.
i also dragged and dropped a song my itunes lib into my time-line.
Now i play my time-line. The pictures goes well but i hear nothing.
Who can help me out here.
    Eric

    Hi Tom,
    See the picture.
I hear the audio (right side) when i scroll over the green audio line. Also i have reaction on my audio-meters.
But when i play the timeline with the same audio i hear nothing.
I think it a setting problem? or did I switch of the timeline audio somewhere?

  • Sound on the timeline does not work

When I play sound on the timeline using the return key I get an ear pircing loud sound. I just updated to the latest Fash cc from the cloud manager. I'm also running OS 10.9 (Maveric)
Is this an isolated problem or have other users experienced the same thing? and is there a solution now?

  • IDVD burn has no sound in iMovie timeline video only

I used iMovie and iDVD to create a DVD. The DVD has an intro movie (that plays when the DVD is inserted), menus with motion and sound, a main feature with chapters, and a "bonus" short movie clip.
The intro movie, the bonus movie, and the menu movie all were dropped onto iDVD from individual .mov files. They all work fine in the disk image that I exported.
However, the main feature with chapters, which is an edited project that resides in iMovie's timeline, does not have any sound in the final exported disk image. Its sound in iMovie is contained in the 2nd audio-only track (the only one that is checked in iMovie) and it plays fine in the iDVD project.
Why is the sound missing in the exported DVD disk image, ONLY in the main feature when it works fine in the iDVD project?
It took 4+ hours to export the disk image... now it appears that time was wasted. I want to be sure that it exports correctly next time.
    I have iDVD 6.0.1 and iMovie 6.0.1
    Please help!

    Welcome Ricky Brigante
Not exactly sure what the issue is here on why it failed to burn the audio as well but did you look thru the iDVD help menu first?
Here's the info I found and I hope it's helpful:
Preparing QuickTime movies to work with iDVD
If your video-editing application can export to QuickTime, you can create movies that you can add to your iDVD project. iDVD supports most video or image files supported by QuickTime.
QuickTime movies smaller than the standard DVD size of 720 x 480 (NTSC) or 720 x 576 (PAL) are scaled to fit the DVD window, which may decrease the image quality.
For best results, in the QuickTime export settings of your video-editing application, choose NTSC-DV with a frame rate of 29.97 or PAL-DV with a frame rate of 25. Choose No Compression for audio and set the sample rate to 48 kHz.
Not all QuickTime formats can be added to your iDVD project. For example, MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files, QuickTime VR movies, and movies with sprite or Flash tracks cannot be added.
Note: If you drag a QuickTime movie file to an audio well in iDVD, iDVD uses the first audio track in the file and none of the video.

  • Adding sound in dhtml timeline

Hi, I'm working on a page that has a simple dhtml timeline. At a point in time an animated gif starts at the end of this animation (or almost at the end) I want to auto start a sound file. What's the best way of doing this? I can convert audio to almost every platform but I guess a simple mp3 will do?

I've been messing around with the start time instead of using the timeline but somehow that doesn't work. Any ideas?

  • HP Probook 6540b problem with fan speed and sound card

    Hi.
    Sorry for my English.
I have installed Arch 32bit on probook 6540b (it has core i5 processor).  Cpufrequtils works well - with governor set on ondemand frequency is adjusting correctly but  fun is running max speed all the time. I have tried to configure lm_sensors but it doesn`t detect any sensors.  Also fun folder in acpi is empty.  It would be great if You could help me.
    Thanks for any advice.
    ...ergh
Fan sometimes works slow so maybe its overheating problem.
    But
I have another problem with sound on this laptop. I have  IDT 92HD75B3X5 sound chip and snd-hda-intel module loaded for it but it doesn`t make any sound. In Amarok it looks like something is playing because progress bar is moving. I have tried everything from arch wiki and other sources but nothing works. Maybe You can help?
    Thanks

  • Audio Speeds up, sounds like chipmonks

I can record a great presentation and when
previewing or publishing, the audio track speeds up and sounds like
the Chipmonks for the rest of the presentation. Tried on different
machines with different mich's and had the same problem.

I had this problem myself, had something to do with the rate
at which the audio was recorded if i remember rightly.
Are you recording this audio externally from Captivate and
    then importing?

  • Syncronize speed of sound with Graphics

    Hello,
    Good Evening All!
I stucked in the problem ,I have imported one sound inside
the Flash and Published it in to HTML & SWF format The sound in
swf is OK but the sound in HTML is ending before the
Graphics(Movie), Means I dont know for what reason the flash movie
is plaing slowly as compare to SWF thats the reason the sound
    ending first.
Is there any Script to control the speed of imported sound in
    Flash.
    Please Help me out.

It would be useful to see your code or .fla or a link to the
.swf to see how Flash is handling your sound. I'm assuming that
your html is opening the swf and the sound is part of the swf and
not part of the html and also assuming from your post that you want
the sound to start at the beginning of the movie and not end before
it is completed. Are you using a preloader?

  • Sony DSC-TX5 Videos with High Speed (Chipmunk) Sound

I just imported some videos shot using Sony DSC-TX5 (1280x720 "Fine" MP4). All imported files have their audio sped up, and consequently everything sounds like a chipmunk. Unfortunately, I deleted the movies within camera before checking the imported files in iMovie. But, new movies shot and played within the camera all seems to have intact audio when played within the camera.
I've also imported HD videos shot using Sony a55 and its audio remain intact.
Is there a fix for this?

I had exactly this problem, importing the video both from within camera, and taking the sd card out and putting it in a reader. I quit Imovie, reopened it. Then I reimported the video. SAME PROBLEM - no change. Then I restarted the computer, opened Imovie, reimported the video - now for the fourth time. AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE!! The audio was perfect.
So what caused this in the first place, and what happened in the reboot that fixed it? Beats me. One moral of the story is no matter how good Mac OS gets, rebooting the computer is always a good thing to try. Another moral of course is, don't delete any files until you know your imports are good and you have them backed up.

  • Lowering the sound on the timeline momentarily

I would like to lower the volume of a song on the timeline for about ten seconds so the natural audio can be heard....how can I do this...do you I use keyframes?

Look in the lower bar of your timeline ... you'll see a little button that looks like a short bar with a long bar underneath it. Click that.
That will make your video and audio levels visible in the tracks. Then use the pen tool to create nodes on the audio levels (make sure the left and right tracks of the music are locked together so you move both at the same time). Drag those nodes up and down until you're happy with the levels. Viola!

  • When I put my video with sound into my timeline, the sound gets all messed up.

It's creepish and echoing. I tried like importing music and sounds ok. Not good quality though.

  • I keep getting a beeping sound in my timeline.

I've replaced the clip and it still occurs. any clue why this is happening?
    Thank you!

I really appreciate your patience, I'm new to this software. Thank you again!
Here's another 2 screen shots, hopefully this answers your questions so you are able to assist me.
Screen shot 6 above shows the Project as it is now. I changed the audio rate to 48Khz. but I still get  the quick beep at the beginning of this clip. It was original set to 32kHz.
Screen shot 7 shows the event clip from library as it is before I moved it in to timeline!

  • Compressor encoded speed change clip with echo as motorboat sound

Took me two days to troubleshoot, through trial and error and process of elimination, why Compressor encoded an audio clip that had been speed changed and echo applied to it -- as rapid MOTORBOAT sound! Project is a 5.1 mix. Since STP3 won’t accept speed change clips, after I completed mix in STP I placed speed changed clips on FCP timeline below the exported STP 5.1 mix with the FCP audio tracks for that clip assigned to channels 1 & 2 for the fronts and channels 5 & 6 for the rears. The clip on 5 & 6 was duplicated and identical in every way to the clip on channels 1 & 2. Only the dupe clip on 5 & 6 did Compressor encode as motorboat. The identical clip on 1 & 2 encoded correctly. Both clips were set to play at same time since I wanted the effect to be on fronts and rears simultaneously. I could not get the motorboat sound to play back from either FCP timeline or Compressor preview window. Only after encode and burn to DVD did it show up. Why would Compressor introduce such artifacts on one of the clips and not both – if it’s going to do it at all – which it shouldn’t? Any ideas? I have other such effects throughout the project where I duped a speed changed clip with an effect applied to it and set it to play on fronts and rears simultaneously and Compressor encoded those correctly.

Well, it's a little late, but this is one of the reasons to have your startup drive cloned so you can restore it to a working state if an update, upgrade or install sends things south.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2494
Have you tried resetting your fcp preferences
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2491
If this doesn't fix the problem, you could try sending the shot to motion.  You could aslo try changing the speed in the motion tab of the viewer.

  • Dynamic Sound vs Timeline

    Howdy all,
We have a project which involves creating numerous
presentation based SWFs. These SWFs are loaded into a Flex based
player. In order to have the audio respond to the stop() command, I
have extended the document class (MovieClip) and added a
soundManager object that loads audio from the library.
Here's the rub. They time the frames to the audio on the
timeline, then remove the timeline audio and use the actionscript
calls to load the sounds. The timeline SWFs run fine and in sync.
However, the dynamically loaded ones grow further and further out
of sync the longer the timeline (the audio gets AHEAD of the
    frames).
The only thing I can think of is that for some reason, when
they are using my document class, it is using a different (slower)
framerate? But I haven't manually changed that. Any ideas?
    JJ

If this is still a problem, be sure to make sure that you've granted the app microphone permissions, which started being required in iOS 7. Otherwise, recorded audio will sound like a "chipmunk" voice when played back.
