Speeding up titles?

How would I speed up a title?
I'm using the Keynote Title in FCPX and the information I want to put on the screen takes too long to come up...
I tried making it into a compound clip so I could retime it, but then you loose the effect of the video underneath it...
Is there a way of speeding it up?

This title has a build-in and build-out timing setting which controls the time for the information you enter in the various text boxes to be displayed and to disappear. The build-in time is 9.5 sec and you can not change that in FCPX. Shortening the title by editing its out point will shorten the whole title but the boxes will still take 9.5 sec to fully display. You have two choices to accomplish what you want to do which I understand from your posting is to speed up the loading of the text boxes. First you can deselect build-in in the inspector title tab. All the boxes should load as soon as the tiltle begins. The other choice is to modify the build-in time in Motion 5. As you have found the retiming function in FCPX won't do what you want. Hope this is helpful.

  • Table heights inconsistent - Please help!

I'm not at all savvy with web programming. I have lots of
experience creating HTML e-mails in DreamWeaver but this is the
first complete site I've designed and built using DW8.
    http://www.10speedstudio.com/testsite
I'm almost done except I cannot figure out why two of the
pages, "contact" and "creative brief", are taller than the other
    pages.
    http://www.10speedstudio.com/testsite/about_brief.html
    http://www.10speedstudio.com/testsite/about_contact.html
Everything checks out in DW layout mode; every container
table adds up to 561 pixels high. However, when I look at these two
pages live (or in browser preview) they are not only taller than
the portfolio pages, they're off by different amounts.
I thought perhaps I had added top/bottom margins in CSS that
weren't showing in DW layout mode but my brief moment of
inspiration was proven to be incorrect.
I'd appreciate your input as to what I can do to fix this.
    Thanks in advance!

Yeah - it's not really good news.
Layout Mode makes such a godawful mess on your pages it's
    very hard to just
offer a concise solution that doesn't involve the words
    "start over". For
    example, read this page -
    http://apptools.com/rants/spans.php
Then look at the code on your page, and count how many
    instances of
'colspan' and 'rowspan' you see. My quick look came in at
    more than 10.
Let me just say that your DESIGN for the pages is very
    pleasant. It's clear
    that you do this well.
And looking at your code, there is ANOTHER huge problem with
    this page - you
have not used DW's templates properly. I can see that what
    you have done is
to open a template page, insert unique content for this page,
    and then
resave the page with an *.html extension. That's just not
    going to work.
How do I know this? Look here -
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
    charset=ISO-8859-1" />
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
    <title>10 speed | contact</title>
This is from the Contact page - note the "Template" in the
    comment above the
    title tag?
The same thing is true on the other page -
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
    charset=ISO-8859-1" />
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
    <title>10 speed | creative brief</title>
I really don't know what to suggest to you other than to
    either take the
time to learn the tool, or hire a developer to work with you
    on these
    projects.
For what it's worth, I removed the HEIGHT="209" from one of
    the table cells
at the bottom of the table, and you can see the result here -

  • FCPX slow for editing

I'm surprised that FCPX 10.1.4 is so slow for editing, compare to FCP7.
I'm on it since 2 months, and I love a lot of features, but I'm so frustrated with the color wheel turning for each editing point...
I read a lot of post and then I add 16gb of RAM , so I have now 32 Gb on an Imac 27" i5 with Thunderbolt disk and Fusion drive.
So my config is not a macpro, but not so bad...
My editing is a classic 4 minutes corporate video, with speed motion, titling, black border, nothing extravagant...
Shooting codec is XDCAM EX in 1280x720... and I bought this machine to go to 4K thanks to my new Sony FS7 camcorder...
I don't think I will go far with a so slow software to edit 4K...
Is there trick to speed up the editing process ?
Main point is the rendering, each time you do a change FCPX render it, compare to FCP7 that was waiting for you to telling him to render... so you can concentrate on your editing, not waiting the wheel to stop turning...
I don't understand why FCP7 is so much faster on a 5 years old imac than a new one...
I'm not so sure that investing in a macpro will change dramatically the speed...

    hmmm... just re-enacted your timeline:
    two 'cropped' videos, a color-bar, a title, 4k ... :
    my source is 4k from a Lumix FZ1000, h.264mp4, 100MBs, NOT optimized!
==> no 'rendering', no beach-ball... ok, a lil' stutterish, my fastest drive is just a software Raid0 made with two tiny 2.5" Toshibas for 99€
    But manageable ...
I would check your Drobo if it is 'set' for handling video streams with FCPX.
In my hobbyist set-up, all drives are for sure hfs formatted...
No idea about SAN & Co, ntfs, ethernet, stuff  .....
PS: with optimized media (as Innocentius recommends) complete hassle-free … MacMini, late 2012, 16GBRam, no dedicated GPU
and my stuff can handle FCPX without ext. converters, HA, you viking (<< int. joke)

  • Sharing projects with an FCP user

I'm editing a bunch of game videos with another team parent. She's been using FCP, but is a newbie to that program. She's done a lot of editing on her material. She is using a single DV camera, has done done relatively simple editing (transitions, speed change, titles). I'm using FCE, and want to import her files and finish editing on my computer with my HDV and DV footage.
I read in a previous post something about exporting as XML. Can anyone provide more input on that?
Would it make sense for her to export as a self contained quicktime, and edit from that (realizing I can un-edit things like composites, text, etc.)?
I assume I could grab her capture files and at least not have to re capture, but maybe that isnt' even a lot of help.
    any adivce would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Chuck

I assume the XML contains the editing commands but not the media. When she first started doing this, she had just gotten FCP and didn't understand the need for naming files. So apparently a number of her videos reference "untitled" in folder "untitiled" and a scattered hither and yon on her hard disk. I was thinking that it would be worthwhile to go to a project, select a clip, reveal in finder, rename, and reconnect.
My plan is to go to her place with an empty 250GB hard drive and copy all the necessary files to that, then come home and go from there.

  • IMovie Demo

If anyone is interested in what is possible with iMovie, watch this video.
I applied image stabilization to all of the video (loss of quality) and played around with transitions.
Overall my experience was not very pleasant, there are a couple of glitches that really messed me up.
1 - When adjusting speed or title length, i lose the ability to select anything, and my project does not get saved.
2 - I have to rename the project to anything in order to be able to use the "share" menu.
Both of these issues are documented in the discussion, I had to use annoying workarounds in order to have this video finally export.

Yep, I remember that too. Before I bought my first iMac in 2001 I played around with that tutorial video in the Store - that got me hooked on iMovie (I think my first version was iMovie 2 on OS 9).

  • How do I change the speed of the Final Cut Pro X "Ticker" Title option?

I am moving from iMovie to Final Cut Pro X.  I used to use the "ticker" title option all the time in iMovie, but when I utilize it in Final Cut Pro X, it scrawls really slow and only shows the first line of text before the video ends.  How do I adjust the speed of this option?

This Motion template effect isn't very useful at the moment.
Sadly, the only way of changing the speed is to modify the effect in Motion.
The speed is designed to get the word 'Information' at the default size and default typeface across the screen over the duration of the clip. If you add more text, or change its size, the text will not move off the edge of the screen by the end of the duration of the generator.

  • IMovie 13 how do I change the speed of the Far Far Away title scrolling?

How do I change the scrolling speed of the Far Far Away wording?
    Thanks in advance!!

Thanks. I did try this and it slowed the scroll down. There is still a residual problem which is there is a certain amount of blank screen at the end. I thought slowing the scroll would fill this dead spot. By lengthening the duration of the title, the scroll is now slower, but the black screen has also lengthened. The current dead time is now the final 6 seconds of a 25 second title. Any help on cutting out the dead scrren time. If this were a straight video clip I would simply trim it away. Any way to get the scrolling text to fill more than 80% of the title duration?

  • How to speed up Focus title in iMovie? (READ DESCRIPTION)

I tried to speed up the Focus title in iMovie by making it shorter, but it maintained the same speed while being cut off before the text actually formed. I cannot speed up the actual clip itself, when I click Command+R nothing happens. Are there any other solutions?

    Hi Joshua,
thanks a lot for your answer!
The reason why I don't use hardware triggering is the following: I want to acquire data when an external trigger line goes low and stop acquiring when the line goes high. But I want to do this for 30 consecutive triggers, and I want to be able to distinguish between every of the 30 "shots". I did not find a hardware trigger solution for that problem, so I tried the conditional retrieval option.
After your hint I wrote a vi which reads the buffer without conditional retrieval. The triggering is done with normal labview code based on the Array_Threshold.vi. This method is surprisingly fast and works fine!
Nevertheless, if you have some idea for the hardware triggering, please let me know!
    Many greetings,
    Tobias

  • Slowing speed in scrolling block titles

The text in my scrolling block titles scrolls too fast, even tho I've slowed the speed to the maximum slow. Is there any way of slowing down the scroll even more?
Secondly, there's a long period of black after the last text before the next clip kicks in. Can that period be shortened?

    Lennart,
I'm happy with my scrolling title, now. Thanks. I just assumed the hare/tortoise slider increased the speed of the playhead absolutely. That is, the entire program would run faster/slower. Now I see the playhead advances relative to the duration of that particular clip: faster with short clips, longer for long clips, depending on their duration, a realization to which you would respond, "Of course."

  • Why is my animated title speeding up?

I have just made an animated custom title for FCPX using Motion.
At the 2 sec mark the title does it's animation for 15 frames.
When I drag the title into the FCPX timeline it works fine.  But if I shorten it, it also shortens the length of the animation.  Is there a way to prevent the title from scaling it's animation parameters?

FCPX will scale the timing for effects. The mechanism used in Motion to control the timing are "project markers".
    You have several choices:
Build In Optional / (or) Mandatory
Everything in the project up to the marker will play with exact timing. Anything after will be scaled (unless there is a build out marker.)
Build Out Optional / (or) Mandatory
Everything in the project after this marker will play with exact timing. Anything before this marker will be scaled unless there is a build in marker.
Between the Build In and Build Out Marker is a "stretch" zone in timing.
Build In/Out is very useful for things that animate in.... remain static for indefinite periods ... then animate out.
    Project Loop End
This marker sets a loop point between a build in marker (if it exists) and the loop end marker. Nothing after this marker plays in FCPX.
For your project, move the playhead to the 15 frame mark.  Make sure NO layers are selected in the Layers List.  Type M to set the marker then Command-Option-M to call up the dialog box to set the marker type. If you want to optionally scale the speed, use a Build In Optional marker, otherwise use Build In Mandatory.  For Optional markers, a checkbox is automatically published for FCPX.

  • Controlling Speed of Transitions (& Titles)

I've searched on this & even called FCPX Tech Support, but still feel like I'm missing somthing.
For the example of wanting to start a Project fading from black into a still image, I can't seem to controll the fade in speed as much as I'd like.
    Example:
If I place a "Fade to Color" Transition first, and then the Image, and then open the Video Animation box & in "Compositing Opacity" move the slider all the way from left to right, it slows the transition a bit, but I feel I should have more control to slow it further.
For my intention, would you configure as I described?
I believe that extending the times of the Transition & Clip will slow the fade in, but I'd like to have more control within a set length of time.  One approach I can imagine would be as in Audio Fade, where one can choose a linear, or curved fade in - I imagine a curved video fade in would be slower than the defualt linear one.
    Does that make sense?
Maybe it's just not an option, and I'd have to use Motion, or some such for the degree of control that I am looking for?
As for Titles, if I use the Fade Title, in Inspector I see that one can adjust the "In Spread" and "In Duration"
Can you tell me how you think abut these settings?
Is this what you'd use to control the speed of a Title fading in?
I'm about to play around with it more & will get a better feel, but always appreciate opinions of those with experience.
    Thanks!

I'm now playing around with "Midpoint" and "Hold" settings for the Fade to Color Transition.
Again, I'm sure I will get a better feel for how to use these settings, given time, but i would appreciate opinions of those that already have experience.
How do you think of & use these settings?

  • Scrolling titles and speed up Movie folder access in Front Row?

I have two questions regarding Front Row and have been unable to find an answer for them yet.
    1. A number of my movies/TV shows have very long but similar titles. When I select one, is there a way for the title to scroll and show the whole title much like a long song title scrolls across the screen of my iPod?
    2. Accessing my "Movies" folder takes a long time. Is there some way to speed this up, possibly a cache folder that may have its permissions messed up?
    Cheers.

    YES GET THE UPDATES!
i had the same problem and it happened after i updated my itunes to 7.6 (to support video rentals). what you have to do is make sure you have ALL the latest updates - including front row and OS X updates. as soon as i did that - everything was back to working order. you can update by clicking your system preferences and choosing updates. it will automatically inform you of any outdated software you may have.
    hope this helps.
    cheers.

  • Changing speed off the Title roll

Can anybody explain me how to change the "rolling speed" off the Title roll in Imovie 9 ?
I introduced a lot off names in the roll, but it is rolling too fast over the screen.

You should see a bar over the video clips that represents the title. Drag the right handle of this bar to the right to make the title longer and slower.

I can't figure out how to get a title to appear over a black screen whether bouncing or appearing in the center and stay there. Either it goes to fast or there is this long pause after it arrives to fast and leaves to early.

  • Imovie '09 v8.0.5 bugs with speed change and titles

OK so here is what I'm experiencing.
I take a clip and change the speed. Then I add transition from the previous clip to this one and all of a sudden I cannot play the video again. I can't delete the slowed down clip even. I can play video that is in the events library, but not that in my project. When I do mouse over the beginning of my video and play I can hear the sound but it is like it is far off in the distance and the video is just solid gray. I have run into many other similar bugs when changing the speed of a clip but could always delete the clip, quit, relaunch, and try again. With this problem I added a transition and can't even delete the clip. Apple please address this issue. Thanks!

I am having the exact same issue. Change the speed of a clip in the project, then the ongoing video screen no longer displays the project correctly (but does display when playing clips from the library). This happened recently as I've made several older projects on iMovie 09 using multiple speeds. Perhaps a bug with the 8.0.5 update.
