Speedy sublcipping - stay on initial clip after CMD+U?

Hello fellow editors,
I'll jump straight to it - I'm viewing a clip, I select time with I-O, then press Cmd+U and hit OK. Then I jump to a newly created subclip. Is there a way to avoid it and stay on initial clip to make few more subclips?
And second question - are there shortcuts for navigation in project panel - up/down after viewing a clip in source monitor? I want to optimise the workflow described below.
My logging workflow is to go through all the footage, make initial bins, then go through clips in bins and create sublcips to then search "Subclip" in that bin and put all my subclips in a final bin... Is this a good workflow? Any logging ninjas out there?

I thought you wanted to make multiple subclips out of one file. That is what I normally do. I have a one hour file and I make a dozen short subclips out of it. Since the Source monitor stays ready to move to the next area of the main clip, I am happy. What is selected in the Project panel means nothing to me.
You seem to be saying that you already have a dozen or more clips, and you are creating one subclip out of each one. Maybe even a few subclips, But you have a lot of clips to work through. Right?
In that case, I can see why you would want to be able to stay on the same clip in the Project Panel to make it easy to select the next one in the list. I think I know why it does not work that way. I think most people create the subclip and then they want to put it on to the sequence. Or maybe they want to interpret it differently before doing so. So Adobe "finds" it in the Project panel for them.
You seem to want something else, and it probably requires a Feature Request from a lot of people with your workflow to get them to work on it as a Preference setting.

indeed, the crop-tool allows a max (min?) of about a quarter of original size..
workaround:
• avoid the iM crop-tool
• use any pic processor (Preview, Pixelmator, PSE..) to crop your wanted area..
• import pre-processed pic into your project..-

How do I add a video clip after my music?

Its sort of a wierd question but basically to me imovie09 is a bust since i cant really see a real timeline to edit my project. But what im trying to do is after i edited my video and the song i have ends i want to add another clip after the song but without the song playing. Everytime i add a clip it either goes to the top of my project or just adds it to the song. basically what im tryign to ask is, how do i add a clip after a song?

if you ADD audio/music/voice over to a project, there are TWO options.
#1:
you drag it into the (grey) background of your Project - and it becomes a background track with its own 'behaviour': it will try to background the WHOLE Project as much as possible. as long there's audio left, any added video/still will lengthen the audio.
#2:
drag audio ONTO a clip .... it gets connected PLUS it offers the usual options any clip offers; copy/pasting, cutting, fading, effects. here, I added a fade and the last video-clip is audio-less.

Colored bars in clip after apply a little motion

I get these colored bars in my clip after applying some motion effects (kern). Rendering does not solve. Any idea?

I had a very similar problem a while back, but I never found a solution. I think it was somehow linked to using an external USB drive (which is definitely a bad idea!).
Are you using an external drive to store your media? If so, what type and how is it formatted?

I had to play with what you gave me a little and removed the "#" from symbol and added "sym." to the "$" in two places ending up with this:

I recently had to reinstall my software for a
dell computer a dell latitude d 830, then after installing all of my software and such including itunes the player did well even record to disks with no problems now that my system has done alot of updating of system files....now the itunes does not burn to my cd...error message 2131 this time
The 2131 usually indicates firmware needs to be updated on a drive.
Head to your drivers and downloads page for your latitude at Dell, and check for updates to your firmware for your optical drives. If you're behind and you update, does that clear up the 2131?

Could you explain more about what you mean by "assign component parameters" because I dont understand. Is this something I would do before it closed? Maybe I failed to explain clearly. i really need some help on this because i have no idea where to start. I have created an app, but I want a user to be able to reopen the app after close and pick up where they left off, or be able to change one thing and not have to start from the begining. I have searched around and cant find information on what i need so Im starting to wonder if that is possible using as3?

You might only be seeing MPEG, AVCHD, and XAVC-S in the list because the other are hidden from view. You need to use the small scroll bar to the right of the choices to scroll down to the ones beyond XAVC-S.
If you select MPEG and do nothing but accept the first choice of Presets which is NTSC DVD Standard, then you are going to get a 4:3 export. Under those circumstances, you have a 16:9 project setting, then you are going to get the type of result that you are seeing in post 6.
If you are doing that, then look at the MPEG Presets = NTSC DVD Widescreen, do your export, and let us know if all is OK.
Do you have any special receipt requirements for the export? With further information from you, I will help you with the export setting appropriate for your project and maintaining what you are created in the edit area.

Legacy FCP has Revert Project to return to the last saved version, and it has Restore Project to go back to one of the autosaved versions. The maximum number of undo's can be set in user preferences. A lot different than X.

When I synced my iPhone I my Mac , it automatically created a file called photo stream and imported all photos from phone into that file on my Mac.
Do you mean the "Photo Stream" album in the "Web" section of iPhoto? Like shown here?
If that is the only place where you are seeing your photos, in "my Photo Stream" in the "Web" section of Photo, then you need to copy these photos to an event to import them into the library.
The Photo Stream album is only showing you what currently can be imported from iCloud, and the photos will vanish after a month, so you are having a limited time to grab them.
If you have enabled "Automatic Import" in iPhoto's Photo Stream Preferences, it should already have created an event "July Photo Stream" and other monthly events with the photos from the streams. What find in these monthly events has been savely imported.

34410A DMM stays in Remote mode after session, using USB

My Agilent 34410A DMM stays in remote mode after my code exits, or if I use MAX to communicate with it, but only if I'm communicating over USB. If I use GPIB, the DMM returns to local mode when my code closes. Apparently there is no LOCAL command for this instrument. Is there any way, other than pressing the Local button, to put the instrument back in local mode using a USB interface? I call hp34401a_close() to close the instrument.

I think what is happening is that when using the GPIB interface you are sending a code to set the instrument back to Local. I took a look at the user's manual for the hp34401a and it seems to have a command to set this back: SYSTem:LOCal.
You can try this at the end of your USB interface program, and see if this is able to help you out. Otherwise I would run NI-SPY on the GPIB end and see exactly what command is being sent to disable remote control of the device.

Note you may have to try to enter recovery mode more than one time to succeed.

Can't access old ver. 9, 11 & 13 clips after Windows upgrade

In Sept. 2014 I downloaded PE 13 from B&H, worked fine and was able to access old PE9 & PE11 clips. In Dec. 2014 had problems with Wind. 7 Home Ed. and had to upgrade to 8.1 (decided on Pro). Installed 8.1 Pro end of Dec. 2014 and bought PE 13 DVD from B&H to reinstall after I backed up my hard drive. Problem after install of 8/1 Pro and installing PE13 from DVD I can't access and restore old clips from 9, 11 & 13. Tried everything I can think of....any suggestions PLEASE!

With the old computer system, you have Premiere Elements 9, 11, and 13 projects. And, you import media into each and see thumbnails for each of your imports in the project media area of the program (in version 11 and 13, called Project Assets). CORRECT! Please as we go forward I have the PE 13 that was downloaded from B&H and worked perfectly with my previous assets in PE 9 & 11.
When you go to open a project in one of these programs and go to the project media area, do the source media thumbnails still show as before with image in the thumbnail? Or does the thumbnail have a display of circular arrows? If the present as before, can you drag the file from the project media area to the Timeline? If you cannot, it that the problem? NO! (First info is when I set up my new PE 13 after copying all data to a 1T desk drive and loaded Windows 8.1 Pro to replace my Windows 7 Home Edition, I set up the PE 13 and used 64 bit as suggested.) NOW...When I locate my previous Project Assets on the 1T drive they show as "red blocks" with a play arrow in them where previously were thumbnails, but I can't retrieve them. As such there is nothing to add to the timeline. Last night I added to the NEW PE 13 a 22 min program I'm working on. I have all those assets, thumbnails and everything is working as wonderfully as it did in 9, 11 and downloaded 13.
Now in response to a previous question you asked:
1. When you open Premiere Elements 13 Expert workspace, go to Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime, do you see a list of presets when you explore
the Presets" field there? NO.... I can get to /Computer but there is no QuickTime there! I did download QuickTime yesterday after your suggestion.

The major focus for me right now is to make sure I know what file triggers the ".....not have the required compressoer/decompressor (codec)"? And to know that
you are in the Premiere Elements 13 Editor and not the Organizer 13 workspace. Help me understand!!!! I know the difference between "Add Media", "Project Assets", "Organizer", "Editor" and "Workspace". But "Project Assets" and "Workspace" are part of "Editor", so I don't understand your question.

Insert source clip after multi-cam editing, how?

I created a sequence using multiple clips and did all my colour corrections. Then I created a new sequence by dragging on new items, sequence is now green. Enabled Mulit-cam editing and started the process.
After i finished, I noticed two clips have blown highlights. Looking at original source I accidentally add two levels. I tried deleting the blown highlight clips and replace them with the original, this did not work too well.
Is there a method I can insert clips after multi-cam editing?
I hope all this makes senses.

Here's how I did it a few times:
1. Add video tracks (and audio tracks if needed) to your timeline to equal the number of cameras you have. Of course if you have more than 4 this will start to get impractical.
2. Edit in your clips from your different camera angles, one to each video track.
3. Double click each clip in turn to get it into the viewer and click the Motion tab. Change its scale to 50%.
4. Select each clip in turn in the timeline and move it to one corner of the canvas. You need to have "image + wireframe" selected in the Canvas popup menu in order to move it with the mouse.
You should now have up to 4 different camera angles shown at the same time in the Canvas, each in its own quadrant.
5. Now the hard part is to align each clip according to time. Hopefully you have some sort of visual cue you can use to align the clips.
6. Then play through the timeline and use the razor tool to cut the clips where you want a camera angle change.
7. Select each camera angle piece you want from each cut you made and change its scale back to 100% and center it at 0,0. Delete the unused clips.
8. If you want, you can move all the clips that remain back to v1 so that you can use transitions between them.
What to do with all the various audio is another question. I usually use the audio from the best source all the way through, only changing to the other camera angle's audio when necessary.

'CRT not initialized' error after installing MS Office 2010

Hi,
I encountered 'CRT not initialized error' after installing MS Office 2010. I think that with previous version of CVI there were no problems. But, with Labwindows/CVI 2012 error has outbroken. The details are as follows.
- OS : windows 7 Enterprise (32bit)
- Labwindows/CVI (v12.0.0 (422))
- MS Office 2010 (word, powerpoint, excel)
#1. clean install windows 7 (32 bit)
#2. install Labwindows/CVI v12.0.0 and device drivers (DAQ, Motion)
#3. compile and run attached test program : SUCCESS
#4. online update windows 7 (service pack, explorer 9, and etc)
#5. compile and run attached test program : SUCCESS
#6. install MS Office 2010
#7. compile and run attached test program : 'CRT error'
#8. uninstall MS Office 2010
#9. compile and run attached test program : SUCCESS
I think there are some conflicts between office 2010 and labwindows v12.0.0. How can I solve this problem?

More specifically, I decided that some parts of MS Office files and features of NI's motion library conflicts. Because in the attacted sample program, if I exclude NI-Motion functions then the program excutes nicely. But if I include NI-Motion fucntion, for example flex_select_signal, then the 'CRT not initialized' error occurs.
To solve this problem I tried step by step installation check for MS Office 2010. During each step I included more optional features in MS Office and after each installation I compiled and executed my sample program. At finally, I found that the addtional part of MS Office 2010, if I install Office Sharing Function>Microsoft IME(Korean), then the 'CRT not initialized' error occurs.
Temporarly, I solved the problem with NOT installing 'Office Sharing Function>Microsoft IME(Korean)' optional feature in the MS Office 2010.
Could you tell me why this problem occur?
