Spel check in pages

Please help.
I have turned spel check on in pages, yet it does not highlight wrongly spelled words.
How dp i fix this problem?

She has shown me numerous examples of the Pages spell check missing routine mis-spelled words.
Could you provide some examples?

Inspector > Text > More > Language
Only applies to selected text, like making it a particular font.
It is not a setting that sticks. If you continue to paste in text from elsewhere particularly the Internet it will have a different or None language set to it. You need to select it and make it B.E.

Spell checker in Pages for iOS - other than english

Hello,
I'm trying to get spell checking in Pages for iOS working in another language besides english. My question is- is spell checker in Pages for iOS evailable in any other language besides english? Because it doesn't seem to be- once I change keyboard to another language (even matching system language), Pages stops underlying errors in that keyboard language.

Spellcheck/autocorrect follows the keyboard (system language is irrelevant). Please tell us what language exactly is not working for you.

Spell Check All Pages in Dreamweaver CS4

With a new converted web site of over 150 pages I need to spell check the pages.

Unfortunately, you can’t do it. As I have noted before, Adobe should be ashamed of itself that I have to import my entire site into FrontPage 98 in order to get an effective spell-check. I get laughed at for using FrontPage, but it's a far better program, sadly.

Pages won't spell check after page 15?!?!

I have a pages document that will only underline or spell check words before page 15. After that, nothing is underlined or spell checked when right clicked on. Any ideas whats going on or how to fix it?

I have the same dilemma. The spell checker on pages seriously lacks.
Also i don't think my proofreader works. When I highlight a word and click proof read, it automatically skips to the next underlined word.
I'm about to go back to Word.

Sluggish Spell Check in Pages

I tried to do a full-document spell check in Pages (300-page doc), but it was s-o-o-o-o-o sluggish that I copied the whole document into AppleWorks and did the spell check there in a fraction of the time. (I prefer not to use the spellcheck-as-you type feature.) Any thoughts?

Just answered my own question: When I get out of layout mode, the spell-check moves at a normal (quick) rate.

You need to give more details:
1. What version of Pages?
2. Where did you get the Greek dictionary from and exactly how did you install it?
3. Are you applying the language to your text?

No Spell Checker in Pages 3.0.2

I am running Pages 3.0.2 in Leopard 10.5.2 on a Dual 1.8 Ghz PowerMac with 1.5 Gig of RAM.
I do not have any external Spell Checkers installed.
I have been completely unable to run any Spelling Checks.
I always get "Cannot Contact Spell Checker"
If I have Check Spelling as you Type selected, I get that message about every 10 seconds.
What is UPPPP????
Any Solutions or Work Arounds??

You may not have any external spell checkers installed now, but I wouldn't be surprised if you once did. And when you disabled and trashed it, it left behind some remnants. I'll bet that's what Pages is finding.

No, the ability to add a word to spell check dictionary is not a current feature.

Hi, I am trying out iwork 08 as a possible replacement for Office 04. Lately I have been getting a Cannot load spellchecker error popup whenever I try to start Pages.

This error appears to be caused by having an older version of Spell Catcher or other third-party spell checking application installed now or in the past. Take a look at this thread. A search for my reply in that thread I found this post & this post with the likely cause.
I also remember an older version of Spell Catcher causing problems with Mail for me a few years ago.

Foreign language spell check in Pages

With Appleworks I downloaded French and Spanish spell check dictionaries and could switch to them when needed. Can I do anything similar with Pages?

Spell Check in "Pages" not working

I read a few posts, made sure my language was set (not void of one)... still doesn't work!

As far as I know, the spell checker is not delivered by Pages but by the operating system.
Only the hyphenation.dat resource file is delvered by Pages.
If I try to check a French text with the spell checker set on French, it works.
If I try to check an English text with the spell checker set on English, it works.
I grabbed on the Web a piece of text in Português do Brasil and tested the Português do Brasil spell checker.
The result is:

I was surprised to find that even though I bought iwork 09 in Norwegian, Norwegian is not on the list of languages one can choose from in the inspector, and I can not find the possibility of choosing norwegian spell-chek either??
Is there anyway to add languages to the spell-check function in pages??
grateful for tip (if there is a basic function i have overlooked) or other experiences!

You actually have a choice of both Norsk Nynorsk and Norsk Bokmål.
First select your text then:
+Inspector > Text (T tab) > More > Language > Norsk Nynorsk / Norsk Bokmål+
The method is to label the language you want to spell check with its native dictionary. So having done the above, when you spell check it will now use the Norwegian dictionaries.

If you don't see the Norwegian options it is because you haven't added them in the International preferences in your System preferences:
+Menu > Finder > System Preferences… > International > Language > Edit List… > Norsk Nynorsk and Norsk Bokmål > OK+
If you drag them to the top of your language list they become the System language. If you leave them lower down they are available in other menus such as Pages Inspector palette.
