Spell Check & Attachments in iCloud

I'm learning to use iCloud email and have two issues.
1. The directions for Spell Check say:
"Control-click a misspelled word, then choose one of the following options from the menu:"
I  pushed Ctrl and clicked on the word but did not get any options.
2. When I attached a photo it  went in the body of the email. Is there a way to attach a photo as something that can be opened separately?

Select the spanner > Settings > Check Spelling.

  • How to spell check email using icloud on a PC

I am using a PC with internet explorer to view and compose email messages but do not see a way to spell check prior ro sending? Help?

    Hello mpehrson,
If you are using a web browser to send iCloud emails, you can use the web browser's spell checking feature:
If you’re using iCloud Mail in Safari or Firefox on a Mac, you can check an iCloud email message for spelling errors using the browser’s spell-checking feature.
If you’re using a different web browser, check the browser’s preferences or menus to see if it has its own spell checker.

  • Emails get sent in Mail when pressing the space bar whilst spell checking

Why do emails get sent in Mail when pressing the space bar whilst spell checking ?? This is beyond annoying. It's been happening for ages on my MBP. I have seen others complain and I can't understadn why this simple bug has not been fixed. Any help on this would be very much appreciated. thank you.

    Hi
In composing I have Check Spelling "when I click send" selected. I tried on my iMac, my Mail account is sync'd via iCloud etc.. I got the same thing, when you hit send and review your spelling, I need to do that a lot, as well as insert missing words. As soon as you hit the space bar off goes the email. I have seen others complain of this on the google. I have now switched to check as I type but when i make a typo Mail just puts a red line under the word, it doesn't open up the Spell Checker dialog.
Is there away of resetting my Mail Apps database ? MAybe something is corrupt.
    thanks.

  • Switch iPad to spell check uk english for crying out loud

Started with simple document created on iPad2 using Pages 1.6 (504) - noticed spell check default is US English (eg summarize) but I need UK English.
Went through all the settings in iOS Pages to try to switch - no luck.
Went to my iMac, Safari, iCloud, pulled down document, (incidentally noticed it had a problem with missing font despite fact that I'm using defaults throughout), opened in Pages '09 v4.1 (923) selected all, went to inspector, changed to UK English, saved.
Uploaded document to iCloud/iWork - selected 'replace' when given option.
Went back to iPad. Noticed Pages documents had not refreshed. Shut down iPad. Re-started. Selected document, opened, and magically it had reverted to US spelling. Also now has a problem with missing font Calibri - in fact I don't give a tinker's cuss which font it uses, I simply want it to spell in vernacular.
Repeat all of above. Confirmed document when opened on iMac had indeed kept UK spelling, ie problem has something to do with iPad settings.
All-in-all wasted an hour. So much for iCloud/iWork. iGiveUp.
    Any ideas?

what's not clear is which keyboard is active since there's no indication.
You can make it clear by holding down the "globe" key and choosing what you want from the list.  Or how about deleting the keyboard which does not say English (UK).
Spellcheck normally follows the keyboard on iOS devices and what app you are using is irrelevant.

  • Spell checker  is changing "n't" to "'t"

Any thoughts on why my spell checker in Pages is changing all my n't to 't?  It just started to do this recently.  I can't figure out why it would be doing that.

I took care to write "is supposed".
What is sure is that about three months ago, Apple hired an engineer appointed to work on the next iWork.
    But, maybe I'm too optimistic.
I assumed that we would get iWork '10 then I assumed that we would get iWork '11.
As nothing appeared in january 2011, I assumed that we would get iWork '12 when Lion would be introduced.
In fact, as you know, we just got iWork 9.1.
This late one isn't iCloud aware and, as I wrote several time, from my point of view, build an iCloud aware iWork require a deeply if not a completely redesigned set of applications.
If the new version isn’t ready for january 2012, we will have to wait until july 2012 without an iCloud aware package. In such case, I guess that many teeth would grind.

  • Spell Checker vi?

I would like to be able to spell check a string from within labview.
Has anyone successfully integrated a commercial spell checker (like the
one MS Office uses) or created one in labview?
    thanks for any input.
    muren

This has been done. There is a LabVIEW 6.1 example.
Spell Check a VI or Library
Description: Spell Checker checks the spelling of VIs and libraries. Items checked include the following: names of control, indicators, free labels on the front panel and block diagrams, and VI descriptions. When the program runs, the user is prompted to choose a VI in memory or from a file. The user is then prompted make spelling changes that are automatically inserted back into the VI.
Spell Checker works by manipulating the text of the exported string of a VI, parsing off tags within the text, and sending the text to MS Word via activeX. MS Word does all of the spell checking using built in features. When the spell checking is done, the information is then inserted
    into the VI.
This program was tested using MS Word 2000 (9.0.3821). If the activeX reference is broken on your computer, open up MS Word check spelling.vi, right click on the reference and slide your mouse to select activeX class >> browse. Look for Microsoft Word application on the list. Note: this program may need modifying after the new reference is created.
Spell Checker can be modified to incorporated into the LabVIEW programming environment. First change the VI properties to run when open and closed if originally closed. Then copy the library into the folder ...\labview X.X\project. Restart LabVIEW, and Spell Checker will be found under the tools menu.

  • I can't use word because a box keeps popping up saying that it can't find the spell check files?

I open Word and there is a pop-up message saying that word cannot start the spelling checker because the files may be missing and to make sure that the spell checker files are installed or use the Microsoft installer to install spell checker. I have never had this problem with Word before and spell check has always been fine. What should I do?

Since word is made by Microsoft you should post your question on their own forums for their Mac software as Apple Communities only provide support for Apple products:

  • Pages 08 Spell Checker Not Working

When I started using Pages 08, I turned on the Spelling --> Check Spelling As You Type. One day it stopped to work, in fact I do not know whether it is working or not since the red lines that highlighted incorrectly-spelled text no longer appeared. I tried turning the feature on and off several times, and fiddled with Text Inspector, but have foind no solution to this. Please advise, anyone. Thanks.

Repairing Permissions did not do anything for me. I have tried various and other sundry things as found in other messages about this major issue w/ Pages, but to no avail. Spell check works fine in other apps, TextEdit for example.

  • Pages 08 spell checker not working after pasting in a windows document.

I am working Pages 08. I pasted a Windows document ( Microsoft word I am assuming ? ) that I saved from another email account(not safari, school based) into my Pages document. Now the spell checker will not work in the Pages document only, Works fine everywhere else. Even if I paste the Pages text into a new document the checker will not work in the document. Any suggestions /

I figured it out. The language was set to none in the inspector

  • Pages 08 - Spell check as you type has stopped working

    Hi,
My Pages 08, which is ticked to 'check spelling whilst typing' is no longer checking spelling as I type.
It was working fine yesterday, but has stopped today.
Moreover, it's not even spell checking when I ask it to do it manually.
    Can anyone help?
    Regards,
    Mont3

I didn't install the British English language on my machines so I can't check the behavior of Pages when this language is the first one.
Here is the brute force way describer for the Blank template used in WP mode.
It would be the same for others.
    ctrl click the Pages.app icon
    show package's contents
    open Contents
    open Resources
    open Templates
    open Blank
    ctrl click Blank.template
    duplicate index-iso.xml.gz or index-trad.xml.gz in a safe area (folder named Pages-Blank-template ).
    double click index-iso.xml.gz or index-trad.xml.gz
You will get index-iso.xml or index-trad.xml
Open it with TextEdit or TextWrangler for instance.
    Search for
    <sf:language><sf:null/></sf:language>
    Replace all occurences by
    <sf:language><sf:string sfa:string="en_GB"/></sf:language>
    save index-iso.xml or index-trad.xml
for English, the replacement string would be:
    <sf:language><sf:string sfa:string="en"/></sf:language>
    for French it would be:
    <sf:language><sf:string sfa:string="fr"/></sf:language>
    for Spanish it would be:
    <sf:language><sf:string sfa:string="sp"/></sf:language>
The next time you will use this template, it will default to British English everywhere.
