Spell check entire project or all topics

I would like to spell check the entire project at one time. According the Adobe Community Help for RH9, I should do as follows:
Open a topic in the Design Editor. Do one of the following:
Select Tools > Spell Check.
Select Tools > Spell Check All Topics. (Optional) Click Skip Topic.
Select Tools > Spell Check Project. (Optional) Click Skip
Currently, I only have one choice in the Tools menu: Spell Check...F7 which checks only the active document.
Do I need an add-on or something?

Do you have RoboHelp set up to show all options or just the shortened menus? If the latter, click the button at the bottom of the menu.
You don't say what version of RoboHelp you are using. Make sure you back up the project first as there was a bug in RoboHelp 8 that was fixed in 801. If you have 8 without 802 you are living dangerously anyway. It's described in Using RoboHelp 8 on my site.

Spell checking entire project trashes random topics

One of our team has experienced this twice so far, in different projects. The latest incidence involved two topics, whereas the previous incidence involved a dozen topics.
Her description of the issue:
1. RoboHelp inserted a bogus bookmark to adobe.com at the top of the page (like: my_topic.htm#http://www.adobe.com).
2. I could not even open those 2 topics in RoboHelp until after I deleted the bogus bookmark in Notepad. (See message below.)
3. Although our style sheet is still attached to it according to the Properties window, the formatting is completely lost.
The error message she mentioned above:
The file 'C:\<project_path>\my_topic.htm' is associated with a 3rd party editor and may be open in the editor. If so, please close the file in the other application before continuing.
When she was confronted with this issue the previous time, there were way more bad links than were manageable, so she just re-imported an older version of the files.

Spell Check Entire Site

Hi,
Just created over 300 pages in Dreamweaver, and now want to
spell check. Is there a way to spell check the entire site? I can't
seriously believe that the only way to do it is to open each page.
After all if Find and Replace works on all files why doesn't Spell
Check?
What is everyone else doing? Is there an extension I need to
install?

Spell check won't "ignore all"

I have a document full of acronyms (ANTH, CUST, etc.). When I spell check, I ask it to "ignore all" thinking that should mean what it says. But the next instance of the acronym comes up again as a misspelled word. What am I doing wrong?

Check marks not showing in "options" spell check not working at all.

I am using the latest but not greatest version which is 13. The spell check feature is not working at all. It works in FF 3.6.28 when I remove this great upgrade but of course I always get the standard ,"your version of Firefox is outdated"
The check marks in the option tabs do not show at all. I have to guess if I have something checked or not.
I have I think the dictionary installed. I went to the add on page for American English and added it. It said it did but when I look at my add on list it does not show.
I like Firfox I really do, but I may have to completely delete it and relunctantly use Chrome, because spell check works in it.
It works in Safari, it works in IE, It works everwhere except FF13.

* You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.

* Make sure that [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu is check-marked.

InDesign CC spell check "ignore all" doesn't work

Is anyone having problems with "Ignore All" not working in spell check? I am repeatedly being prompted to check the same word or abbreviation again and again.
Just to be sure it wasn't a result of hidden characters or other variables, I have copied several text frames and spell check prompts for the same terms in both text frames even after clicking "ignore all" for each word the first time through.

I too started having this problem just this week.
I use ID to create user's manuals in which a product model number will show up at least 5 times per document. The "Ignore All" button in spell check has always ignored all instances of a product model number until now. I've noticed that "Ignore All" does not work on any repeated words in any of my documents. I'm not sure what has changed that caused "Ignore All" to stop working.

Mail Spell Check started underlining all words as incorrect

Hi Folks.
This is my first post/question. I have searched for the answer on these forums and elsewhere but can't locate any suggestions. Forgive me if I have overlooked anything useful already posted.
My question relates to Spell Check in Mail.
For some reason, my spell check has started underlining all words with red squiggles with the exception of a few common words (eg 'the' 'and')
I'm not the best speller - but I'm not getting 98% of my word wrong. But Mail spell check thinks I am.
Does anyone know why this has started to happen and how it can be fixed?

InDesign CC spell check is not working at all

I have been using InDesign for around a month now and now my spell check is not working at all. I have tried replacing preferences, changed dictionaries, created new documents with placeholder text and spell check does nothing at all with all of these things. Please Help

Not all locales come with a dictionary installed for licensing reasons. 
If you do not have the en-US locale then check that you have a dictionary installed (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and selected. 
 
You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu. 
Also make sure that [X]"Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu has a tick. 
You can also try to toggle the "Check Spelling" item off and on again.

Why does spell checker skip some text captions?

I spell checked my project and found typos. But there was another typo on the very first slide, first text caption, which it left behind. Why did it do this?
I thought, maybe this typo is in my dicitonary, so I deleted more letters from the word, and it still did not find it.
Then, my search on this topic I found advice to export all captions to Word and spell check there, then reimport back into Captivate. Is there something I don't understand here? Why does spell check find some errors and not others?
Please straighten me out.

Just a WAG here, but what had focus when you kicked off the spell checker? My thought here is that many spell checkers work in "directions". For example, in some apps, you choose whether you search from the selected point forward or from the selected point backward. So assuming Captivate is programmed to work in "this point forward" mode only and you have perhaps slide three selected, that would explain why earlier slides would be skipped.
Note that it's only a theory at this point. Either way, I'd strongly suggest you consider filing a bug report to the development team about it so they can investigate. (Link to the reporting form is in my sig)

Duplicating an entire project?

Hi there,
I have duplicated all of the files and the folder structure in an ID CS4 project that contains 40 chapters organized under a book file. I renamed the parent folder to indicate a new version.
When I open the book file in the duplicate folder structure and open one of the chapters, ID opens the chapter file from the original folder.
How can I edit my book file to point to the newly duplicated files in the new folder structure?
I haven't found a discussion on this subject nor does my CS4 Bible seem to mention this. Am I trying to do something that shouldn't be done at all?

Thank everyone for the feedback. I wasn't aware of the package feature you mentioned so I'll investigate that possible solution.
I successfully updated the book file to point to all of the copies... it just took a while with 40 chapters.
I suspected there would be an issue with the image links. I'd like to find a solution to that as well. Since I'm the newest person on the team but solely responsible for his particular document, it is up to me to fix things without rocking the boat too much. (politics)
After investigating a few of the links, I see that some of the hundreds of images are pointing to indivisual computers belonging to people no longer employed by the company. I'm finding links pointing to user folders on distant C: drives.
I don't mind independent copies of the entire project with all the images in folders below the ID files. Wish those links were relative paths instead of the full path but it is what it is... I am more concerned with the missing images and the fact that ID now has to use whatever temp file it is using to display the image of the missing file.
Sounds like I've got a busy week ahead of me... but I'm done for now... got my 40 hours in and I'm not authorized any overtime no matter how much I'd like to clean this up as quickly as possible. :-)

Spell Check is Broken - Right Clicking on Misspelled Word Does Nothing

MIsspelled words are marked as incorrect in Safari, but when I right-click or control-click I never get a dialog to correct the misspelling. Spell-check works fine in all other apps, such as Mail. Any ideas? I have the problem on two machines. All have had upgrade installs from Tiger to Leopard.

How can I Spell Check with an Action?

Hi -
I can use the Spell Checking command while I'm recording a new Action but when I play that
Action it gets stuck on the first step... "Spell Check in contents of all text layer". I didn't write that first step - PShop did while I was recording the Action. Whe I try to use the Action I get an alert ... "The object "in contents of all text layer" is not currently available."
If I hit Stop - the Action stops.
If I hit Continue - the Action stops.
So how do I Spell check using an Action? I plan to use this in a batch process. I have about 300 files and automating this would be great.

Spell Check button doesn't work anymore

When I click on "Spell Check" button, it seems all works fine, but as soon as I click on "Change" button, or "Go back/Edit" or "Post Message", I receive the following error message :
Your spell session has expired - please go back to the posting page to resume the spell check.
What's the timeout on that page, few seconds ?

Yeah, I use Firefox on my personal computer since a while, and I would have forget what's IE without being on client site which are stuck on full Microsoft product suite. Furthermore, I wouldn't have to know some IE's bugs like Re: Tags [pre] and [/pre] does no more keep blank lines. And don't know such bug is not a big missing.

Collaborate on entire project?

HI. I am using Adobe.story to collaborate with a few other writers. I appear to be limited to collaborating on a single file at a time. Recommend adding the functionality that would allow collaboration on an entire project (including all scripts, character cards, etc. within that project).
This would allow all collaborators to add characters cards, links, related docs, etc. to the project.

Hi Srinath.
I have shared out several files for others to review, and that seems to be
okay. (Enhancement recommendation: I would like to be able to customize the
body of the e-mail that goes out when I share a file. I don't seem to be
able to at this time - i.e. I would like to be able to tell the user "please
review this file by day after tomorrow and get your edits to me by then" or
something like that).
I haven't gotten much feedback yet. One file I shared I only allowed review,
and the user said he was able to review it fine. The others files I shared
allowed for full edit, but that project hasn't moved very far forward yet,
so no feedback is available.
No one has shared a file with me, so I can't really comment on how that end
works.
Thanks for a great tool. I've almost completed my first screenplay (first
draft) using your tool. I look forward to many more.
One final thought. I think Final Draft automatically capitalizes the first
letter of the first word of a sentence. That might be a good enhancement
(for all us lazy writers...)

Spell Check Not working in Office 2013

I can not get spell check to work at all in Outlook nor Word documents. I need real basic instructions please.
I tried this idea from a prior post, but there is no dictionary file to pick. Any other ideas?
If so, back up all these files. Add the custom dictionaries via:
Click the
File tab.
Click
Options.
Click
Proofing.
Make sure the
Suggest from main dictionary only check box is cleared.
Click
Custom Dictionaries.
Click
Add.
Locate the folder containing the custom dictionary you want, and then double-click the dictionary file.

I tried this idea from a prior post, but there is no dictionary file to pick.
Are there any dictionaries listed in the Dictionary List when you click
File > Options > Proofing > Custom Dictionaries? If so, please make sure the check boxes before these dictionaries are ticked.
Do you mean the Spell Check not working as you type or after you click the
Spelling & Grammar button?
If you mean spell check not working as you type, please go to File > Options > Proofing and select the check box before "Check spelling as you type".
If above didn't apply, please try to rename your Word template file (Normal.dotm) to Normal.old and then restart Word to check if it helps.
