Spell check in iOS Mac mail

I don't know if I'm in the correct area? I have the basic iMac Desktop. If I'm the wrong
area maybe you could show me where I'm supposed to be?
My q is re: Mail/Spell Check? I feel I'm not doing it correctly bec the corrections(if any?)
are not very good. I recently switched from Microsoft to Mac. The Microsoft was very
good but I can't believe Microsoft is better?

How do I get spell check working in Mac Mail?

I'm on OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and Mac Mail v 6.2
Mail Preferences are set to Check spelling "as I type" but the dashed red underline is not appearing as I misspell words.
I have been reading forums and other posts that suggested enabling "Correct spelling automatically" at a system level (System Preferences > Language & Text > Text) while leaving Mail set to "as I type" for App level preference. Odd thing is, once I follow these steps and checkmark "Correct spelling automatically" it doesn't retain the selection - when I open the window back up the box is unselected.
Any help is appreciated!

No option to enable spell check on IOS 8.1.3

My mother and I recently both upgraded to iphone 6. She immediately did a software update to IOS 8.1.3, but I did not. We use spell check when writing in English because it is our second language. Now she does not have the option to turn on/ enable spell check at all (with IOS 8.1.3). I was just wondering if there is any way at all to turn on spell check with IOS 8.1.3, otherwise I won't be updating my software. Or is there something we candownload to help with this issue?

I have an Iphone, Ipad and mac bookpro and I find the spell check terrible, I miss typed grammar and wrote grammer, my mac said it had no spelling suggestions, both google and micro soft word corrected the spelling but not my Mac book pro. How do I disable the auto spell check? My g-mail already has this

I don't need 2 spell checks, and when I send an e-mail, I can not get the red line to go away. Some of the words are not misspelled.

To turn off Spell Checking in Firefox:
In the [[Options window|Options window]] , on the [[Options window - Advanced panel|Advanced panel]], untick 'Check my spelling as I type'.
If the spell check is correcting a number words that aren't misspelled, it's possible that it's not using the correct dictionary. If you right-click in an area that you can type in, you should see a 'Check Spelling' menu item and below that a 'Languages' menu. Check in the Languages menu that the correct language is selected.

I am so disgusted with this site! I am trying to ask how to get spell check and you ask for confimation of my address but do not tell me how to do it! Spell checker quirky running Outlook mail with Firefox, works fine when running Windows

Using Firefox with Outlook mail. Spell checker misses many obvious typos and misspellings. After correcting an error or two with spell checker underlining of remaining uncorrected errors disappears.
Spell checker works properly when using Windows with Outlook mail.

I'm not using the MS mail service very much these days as there have been too often issues in Firefox that took too long to get fixed by MS, so I hadn't noticed these issues, but with checking it out I can see the same happen if there are multiple errors marked.

Icloud mail spell check

So where is the spell check on the icloud mail? I have typed a couple of things with typos and realized there is no spell check link?! am i correct?

There doesn't seem to be a spell check for the iCloud mail. Is this correct?

Why does gmail spell check highlight partial words?

I recently received the latest version of Firefox for my Windows XP desktop computer. Since that time, when I type e-mails the spell check puts a wiggly red line under parts of a word. When I click to spell check the entire e-mail, parts of correctly spelled words are highlighted in yellow and the dictionary tries to provide spellings for these highlighted parts of each word. I have gone into Firefox options and unchecked the box for spell checking as I type. That did not help. What can I do to fix this problem?

IChat 'spell checker' doesn't work.

Recently upgraded to Tiger .. and the spell checker doesn't work when selected as 'Check spelling as you type'. It works manual -when I click on 'Check Spelling' ... but not whle I type.
The spell checker works fine in Mail and Pages,etc. Just not iChat.
I did reinstall iChat and didn't solve problem.
Any thoughts?

Just to add more info - when selected as 'Check spelling as you type' ... when I type a misspelled word, it will underline the word in red. BUT - when I right-click the word - NO word suggestions are in the popup menu.
If I click 'Check Spelling' ... and then right-click the word ... it works perfectly ... with word suggestions in the popup menu AND other options (ignore spelling, learn spelling ... etc)

How do we get spell check on Beta? It isn't obvious like before

I sent a question before but it asked me to confirm my address and didn't show me how to confirm. My problem is I do not know how to get spell check on an e mail. This has been so time consuming because I also can't get to anything once I click. Always getting the hourglass and can't get through.

Alert warning - Can't contact spell checker

Does any one else have this problem when using Pages? The alert notice comes up on the screen repeatedly and then causes Pages to freeze. It is most frustrating. I have reloaded iWorks, downloaded all the update but nothing seems to change. Help any one please.....

If you have SpellCatcher or another spell checker installed, I would just try disabling it first & see if the problem goes away. If it doesn't, do a Spotlight search for "spell" & see what comes up. Trash anything that looks like it belongs to a third-party spell checker & restart your Mac.

What does this error mean? Why won't it go away! I do not want to change the language region every time I open a word document from the Internet.. This is a problem that needs a permanent fix... I am a few days shy of buying MS Office 08 because of this issue. I need a operable word document program.

Pages Alert "Couldn't contact Spell Checker."

Out of the clear blue, after much use, Pages 3.0.2 Gives me an Alert "Couldn't contact Spell Checker" and the Spell checker does not work anymore in pages. However, the spell checker woks in all other programs I use. How do I get the spell checker back in pages?
I've cleaned caches and repaired permissions and no change. English is the language being used.

But I don't think that's the problem you're experiencing. I've seen several users here with the problem of the spell checker not working in Pages. All of them were fixed by deleting the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences & then restarting Pages.
