Spell Check in Story CS6 doesn't works

Hi,
I became a member of the creative cloud in December. I have started to use Adobe Story CS6 and the spell check doesn't work. Even if I type in gibberish, nothing gets underlined. I am using a computer with German Windows 7 64-bit but I am writing in English. I have installed the English versions of the software and I signed in to Story as "English".
Any suggestions?

That's not really "spellchecking". That's more of an in-document "spell-check feature". As opposed to a document-wide "spell-check function"
Unfortunately, Adobe has failed to impliment a document wide spell check function in a document creation application (embarrasing). It's now 2014. I hope we don't have to wait more "years" for someone to get their act together on this.
While importing scripts, documents and etc. from other software, there are always translation and importing issues. It's very unreasonable to make a user painstakingly go through an entire document to replace a "DOT" with an " ' "... and no! find and replace does seem to pick up on the DOT.
If Adobe wants to make people pay a monthly service for their software with the ability to "push" updates at will... then they should at least update the word proccessng software with a functional spell check.
I love the suite and have used it for years but, it really gives an "air of incompitence" when the most basic of features (the libraries have already been written 100x's over) are lacking in a word processing application.

Spell check and word suggestion doesn't work Droid 4

My wife and I both have Motorola Droid 4s. I have had mine for almost a year, and she has had hers just a week. After I factory reset mine to fix a spell check problem, I noticed that the spell check still doesn't automatically fix errors, and there is no word suggestion. Her's is doing the same thing. When I looked for this issue online, I found numerous other Motorola Droid 4 owners having the same problem.
Since we text a LOT, this is certainly a major inconvenience. We would like to know if there is a fix for this issue, is it OS version and phone specific, and when an update/fix can be expected.

The settings you gave me are the same as I and my wife have set except for the keyboard and input methods. For us, android is checked but disabled (gray), moto chinese input is checked, and swype is checked but disabled and gray. Same as it was when spell check and suggestions didn't work. Now ours is working but what is really interesting is that we never changed anything since it wasn't working. We just woke up the day after posting this and it was working. Hmm. I left the moto chinese checked because why tempt fate?
Thank you for your reply and information. That fact is, my spell check worked for a year and then suddenly it did not. My wife's didn't even out of the box, then the day after I post, ours works perfect. Coincidence? Who cares. =)

Flash CS6 doesn't work

Hello,
It has been a while since I worked with Flash, but once a year I have to edit a Flash file (with sponsors of a local event). Last summer I made the latest version of the file in Flash CS5. I've installed CS6 (the complete design&web premium package). Now I want to change the file that I made last year, but Flash CS6 doesn't work like it should. When I open the specific file, s small screen with the canvas is visible, I can't enlarge this screen, there are other windows available in the menu, but they won't show up when I activate them. I've tried to save the document as a CS5 file (I have a CS5 version on my laptop) but the file can't be opened (warning: this file has been created in Flash CS6).
When I try other menu-items, the program 'unexpectedly' stops.
In other words: I can't do anything anymore.
I've installed Flash CS6 again, but that doesn't solve the problem.
Is this a familiar issue? Can anyone help me?

update:
- i'm still using cs5.5, but now have air3.3 overlayed
- i changed the render mode in the app.xml file to "direct" instead of "gpu" and republished
the app seems to display the graphics and dynamic text ok, but the stageVideos are not showing up.
suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks...

Spacebar in CS6 doesn't work and hotkeys are shifty

I just recently downloaded CS6 from the creative cloud, the spacebar in CS6 doesn't work and switching cursor settings (brush, handtool, select all, move etc...) with the keyboard causes the program to pause for 1-2 seconds before the mouse will move again.
This is really obnoxious and ruins any workflow you want to have...
OH and I called Adobe support but that was a big FN' mistake.... most aggravating process and they are too damn skeptical about if you own the software or not!
Has anyone had issues w/ this?

You can try trashing your prefs (see Replace Your Preferences), but I don't think that's the problem, nor is there a general problem with book page numbering in CS6, so it's something that you've set incorrectly, or a step you've missed. Did you update the numbering after adding the files?

Despite my spell check being set, it does not work in Hotmail and some other websites.

I have the setting for spell check set up but it does not work on some sites like hotmail. I go to the spell check button in hotmail and it tells me that my browser will automatically check as I type but it doesn't. I've searched to override this or to get the spelling checked independently but without any luck, Any suggestions?

Not all locales come with a dictionary installed for licensing reasons.
If you do not have the en-US locale then check that you have a dictionary installed (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions).
You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the ''Languages'' submenu.
Also make sure that [[X]"Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu has a tick.
You can also try to toggle the "Check Spelling" item off and on again.

Pages 08 - Spell check as you type has stopped working

Hi,
My Pages 08, which is ticked to 'check spelling whilst typing' is no longer checking spelling as I type.
It was working fine yesterday, but has stopped today.
Moreover, it's not even spell checking when I ask it to do it manually.
Can anyone help?

I didn't install the British English language on my machines so I can't check the behavior of Pages when this language is the first one.
Here is the brute force way describer for the Blank template used in WP mode.
It would be the same for others.
ctrl click the Pages.app icon
show package's contents
open Contents
open Resources
open Templates
open Blank
ctrl click Blank.template
duplicate index-iso.xml.gz or index-trad.xml.gz in a safe area (folder named Pages-Blank-template ).
double click index-iso.xml.gz or index-trad.xml.gz
You will get index-iso.xml or index-trad.xml
Open it with TextEdit or TextWrangler for instance.
Search for
<sf:language><sf:null/></sf:language>
Replace all occurences by
<sf:language><sf:string sfa:string="en_GB"/></sf:language>
save index-iso.xml or index-trad.xml
for English, the replacement string would be:
<sf:language><sf:string sfa:string="en"/></sf:language>
for French it would be:
<sf:language><sf:string sfa:string="fr"/></sf:language>
for Spanish it would be:
<sf:language><sf:string sfa:string="sp"/></sf:language>
The next time you will use this template, it will default to British English everywhere.

Edit in Photoshop CS6 doesn't work with Nikon D800E NEF files in LR 4.1 RC

The "Edit in Photoshop CS6" menu item or shortcut (cmd+e) doesn't work for NEF files from a Nikon D800E in Lightroom 4.1 RC. What happens is that LR looks like it goes through all its normal paces, and launches Photoshop, and the CPU spins, but then nothing happens in Photoshop, the image never opens.
This works fine for NEF files from other cameras.

Set up CS6 as an secondary editor, and then it will use LR's built-in ACR to process the files, instead of the external ACR with CS6. The external ACR 6.7 also processes D800, just not ACR 7 just yet.

Check Availability in UWC doesn't work without granting anonymous FreeBusy

It was reported to me and I could confirm that when user jdoe2 grants user jdoe permission to check Availability but has Availability disabled for anonymous ("Anyone can view my availability" is unchecked), jdoe cannot see jdoe2's availability in UWC but it works in IWC. I noticed this in the http.log:

I even tried making [email protected] an "other owner" but it doesn't work. This particular system is a fresh install of SCSu1 installed today and it has 122793-24 (came with it) and 121657-34 (came with -32.) Thanks.

Why is UWC using anonymous?At face value this appears to be a limitation in the product. I've logged a new bug for this issue:
bug #6832323 - "Check Availability functionality uses "anonymous" for free/busy check vs. logged in users uid"
Can I fix this?If you want this bug fixed in UWC/CE, you must log a Sun Support request to have the bug escalated. If you don't escalate the bug it WILL NOT be fixed.

Spell check in Mail and Safari not working

Since I've upgraded to 10.5.1 spell check no longer works in mail. It does not underline any incorrect spellings. Also in Safari 3.0.4, when I fill out forms and make a misspelling, spellcheck will underline the word but when I right click on it I do not get the contextural menu to correct it. The misspelled work just highlights and then the red undeline disappears leaving the incorrect spelling intact. How can I get spell check working correctly?

This is a fairly old thread. Did the OP's (Patrick) problem go away? Was there a solution?
If you control-click in a new message, is Spelling and Grammar in the pop-up context? Can you select it? If you do, does it find misspelt words? If you deliberately misspell a word, put the insertion point in the middle of it and then control-click, does the pop-up offer a list of alternatives?

App created with Flash CS6 doesn't work on iOS6

Hi, I developed an iOS app with Flash CS6 and it works perfectly on iOS 5.1, but today I've upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 Beta for developers and my App doesn't work!! Apps developed with CS5.5 work well on iOS 6. How to fix it?! I tried to save in flash cs5.5 format and open it with CS5.5 to export it, but it doesn't export anything! Please give me a solution.

Keyframe Caddy CS6 doesn't work

Hi all
I work with Flash CS6 an need the Keyframe Caddy, but if i install the extension there isn't any hack before it and it doesn't work.
When i click on the button next to the description there is a red symbol with a white cross.

I use 32 bit Photoshop on a modern machine for running some old plug-ins that aren't available for 64 bit. I don't want that experience to be slower.
I believe you're thinking about things a bit too simplistically - I wouldn't bet that the code could just be recompiled to give you compatibility. It may be that it employs libraries that require the higher level of instruction set, and has specific code to use it (though I honestly don't know the content of Adobe's sources). It's pretty clear that the 32 and 64 bit builds do share almost all the same sources. I'm a career software engineer; I know how this stuff works too.
Look, you can only make the point that you want software publishers to support ancient technology for only so long. The plain and simple fact is that Windows XP and older processors will only serve for so long. There will come a time when you just can run new stuff on old systems.
If you need compatibility with the old hardware, run the software that was available for those systems. By contrast, if you want to run state of the art software, you need modern hardware.
As a publisher, where would you cut off support for outdated hardware? Clearly it would be when supporting the old stuff becomes more expensive than the additional income you'd get by supporting it. Adobe has said they haven't even been able to maintain one working Athlon system.

Spell check ctrl and click no longer working!!

I have upgraded to a Mac Book Pro - Got Mac OS X Version 10.6.8. For some reason ctrl and click does no longer work when wanting to spell check. I still get the red lines but nothing happens when I try and click on them.. This is the case for all applications, iWork, Office for Mac..
Anyone out there that can help?

If I spell check on sending (seems a sensible idea) and want to make tweaks in the actual e-mail as well, the email will send mid spell check and tweaks - without full spell check and often half written corrections
This is an ongoing problem in other threads
Being bilingual (fluent in Mac and PC), this is definitely a Apple Mail problem and something those smart people at Apple should be able to fix.

TS3276 Spell checker on Mail and Pages not working.

I have lost the capacity to check spelling on all Apple programs. I deleted Mac Keeper as I read this had caused the problem, but still no spell checker. Can anyone assist?

If the problem was indeed with MacKeeper, then you might need to reinstall your OS. Assuming you've got a good backup, it should be pretty easy to do—either redownload the software from the Mac App Store and follow the instructions (if you upgraded) or boot into Recovery Mode and do it from there.
If I were you, I'd probably do a little sleuthing first. If you go into System Preferences> Language & Text, does everything seem to be configured properly? Is English the top language under the "Language" tab? Under the "Text" tab, is "Spelling" toggled to "Automatic by Language"? If you misspell a word in Mail and press Command-; (the shortcut for Edit> Spelling and Grammar> Check Document Now), does anything happen?
If everything seems OK, I'd probably just reinstall.
